I’ve had pizza all around the world in my 51 rotations around the sun. From NYC to Rome to LA to Toronto. This, honestly, might be the most aggressively MID slice I’ve ever had. It’s damn near impressive that this place has pizza so bad but no lack of customers since it’s near the stadium. We dropped in for a slice before the game. We were told it’d take 15 mins, it took closer to 45. The order was mixed up. Half the sodas were out of order. There appeared to only be one person working. The pizza itself was just terrible. No crust. The cheese had no pull. Worst of all the sauce was oddly sweet. Maybe this is a local thing, either way it wasn’t good. The only redeeming quality of this place is the clean restrooms and the cost. Only blew $3 so at least I didn’t feel horribly ripped off. Avoid at all costs.

Damn, I love this Pizza!! Open late, so driving in from Mars is a no brainer. Their sauce is something special! Always a solid!! If you are from out Butler County way, this Pizza is alot like Denny & Pearl's. You don't have to wait in line at the Farm Show, go get it!!

Google
I've been going thru a pickle craving lately! So when I was looking thru a menu for lunch today at work, a Giovanni's menu was in the drawer. So I got the new Picklesburgh pizza, and it did not disappoint!! It was truly dilly delicious! Besides pickles, it had bacon and onions on it, and the red pizza sauce, and to me, they tasted phenomenal together! Highly recommend!!

Google
Worse hoagie I’ve ever had, I got an Italian hoagie without any mayo, & I get told it comes on the side, AFTER I made a complaint. It’s very, very, very, DRY. I added my own, it didn’t help it at all.

Google
Been all over the country trying pizza and Giovanni’s nailed it! Ordered a pepperoni as we were loading in to theatre next door. Delicious! Crunchy crust with a slightly sweet sauce and crispy cupped pepperoni gave it that nice charred pepperoni taste. Great flavor and one of the best and slightly unique tasting pizzas my wife and I have found during our travels!

Google
this has been the go to pizza place in Pittsburgh. If you want pizza after midnight in the burgh, always solid… Until I ran into this gentleman… Just complete rude … I understand working at a late night place is not for everybody, but if you choose to understand why the business exists… And don’t just be rude and condescending to people who come in late

Google
Came here during Picklesburgh and was the best thing I had had at the festival. I got (obviously) a slice of pickle pizza and the cool lime pick juice and it was so good. They festival closed at 6 and around 630 they were still going for people that were still leaving! 10/10 service. We sat outside of the restaurant and it was very clean and so pretty!! Great staff!! Will be going back!!

Google
I have ordered from this location many times and have never had any issues. I was told the delivery would be an hour which is pretty much the norm. My kids got the pizza when it was delivered and I asked for them to bring me a slice. I looked at it and said what happened. My daughter said the pizza was like that which was the cheese sliding off and it was not hot. I called to let them know what happened and was asked if i wanted a new pizza or refund. The lady in the background asked if i could send a picture so I did. I got a reply asking for a picture of the whole pizza but of course my kids were already eating or have eaten. I explained this and was told without a picture of the whole pizza they couldn't do anything. They needed to show their boss their mistakes. My family loves their pizza but no accommodation is ridiculous.

Yelp
This is the best pizza in the Bronx Great quality pizza Excellent, always buy two slices Can't take a picture of it I ate

Yelp
Best Pizza Ever! Pizza was made very well. Had lunch there during Picklesburgh! Service is excellent and atmosphere is amazing!
google avatar

Yelp
Not sure what else to say, except the pizza was decent and quick. I just got a slice of plain cheese this order. Cashier lady was nice, and the selection of desserts I was impressed with. The restaurant is no frills and pizza is a good value - not the greatest in the world but for the price, you get the bang for your buck. These are the same people who own the Alihan restaurants nearby (which those are great). I would come here again.

Yelp
Everywhere was packed downtown tonight and places had 45-90 minute waits, so we decided to grab pizza from Giovanni's instead of having a full fancy meal. It was honestly quite delicious. We each got 2 slices of pizza and a 20 ounce bottle of soda. The cashier was friendly. It wasn't the cleanest place ever but didn't feel too bad.
google avatar

Felicia D.

Yelp
Stopped in to get pizza by the slice after a pirates game and a night out and this was amazing. I might be biased because we had a long night, but the slices were huge, cheap, and I thought the pizza was actually really good! We got our slices real quick and were really fresh. The workers were nice, the restaurant was clean, but i think people usually get their pizza to go!
google avatar

Kimberley C.

Yelp
2 slices of pepperoni, to go. 8/10 Pizza was ok. Crust was a bit thinker than NY style. Pepperoni was fine. Sauce was on the sweeter side which I liked.

Tenanta M.

Yelp
Not owned by the original Italians anymore. Service and food quality has declined. I ordered stuff shells to go, I got 2 shells and a container full of sauce. I ordered pennes with marinara sauce, I got cold penne noodles with olive oil, The garlic bread had no garlic butter on it, The cashier acted like she didn't know how to take orders, The cooks did not speak English, other customers where complaining about their orders were not what they wanted.
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
Wish Yelp would allow 1/2 stars. Give this place a 3.5. Great service and pizza by the slice was solid. Great cheese and crust. Sauce was pretty tasty but more of a sweet subtle sauce vs punchy Would grab a slice again when in the Burgh

Yelp
ordered this late night while staying in Pittsburgh. it was sooooo delicious. it was also so awesome that i was able to place an order on their website & get delivery straight to the hotel.
google avatar

Sara L.

Yelp
Probably one of my all time favorites - their pizza sauce is a little sweet and the best. This is our go to spot any time we go to a Pirate game. There's a parking garage nearby that makes it convenient. We always walk in, order, and dine in. The staff is always friendly and the service is quick. If you are really in a hurry, order slices instead of a whole pie. The slices seem to come out quicker. It's a small place with a handful of tables, but it's clean and nicely decorated. The pizza is great and well worth the trip!

Yelp
Ordered a delux pizza and pasta dish called Italian dinner before the concert. We had it delivered to Hyatt. This will always be remembered as one of the best food experience pre concert . So better than spending 40 bucks on cold hot dogs or burgers. Exceeded our expectations and the huge pasta dish will be enjoyed tomorrow. Great pizza.

Yelp
Warm and nice staff (5/5). Casual, self service type of place. But you still can sit and eat. We ordered lamb gyro (1/5) very salty and greasy. We have tried many gyro before but this one for sure was a lower rated one. Chicken Calzone (2/5), watery and simply not very well cooked as we tried before and expected. Location and staff are the only positive points.
google avatar

Brian E.

Yelp
Decent spot for a quick lunch. Got the gyro. It was fine. They also have pizza by the slide and full pies made to order
google avatar

Shane M.

Yelp
I asked for well done - crust is barely Cooked and pizza isn't remotely close to being a "premium" priced pie with extra toppings...Disappointing. I know a lot of great pizza in PGH ....I'm getting concerned. Gio has always been good to me, maybe it's time for a change...
google avatar

George M.

Yelp
Very good pizza and reasonable beer prices and a friendly staff. Very close to the end of the marathon route if you're in town for this.
google avatar

James S.

Yelp
Best pizza I've had in Pittsburgh so far. Still 4 stars though. 4.5 if I could give it that. They're my go to for now.
google avatar

Adam A.

Yelp
The pizza is ok if you're doing delivery, but I'd avoid this spot if you are looking to eat somewhere in-person. It seems like everything I tried to order, they didn't have. Then the things they did actually have had a price higher than what was on the menu. In general, this place is a dump and you should just walk down the street to Proper Brick Oven for a much better experience.

Yelp
Stopped at Giovanni's for dinner for the first time in years and it was not as good as I remembered. Our group ordered a variety of food but the real stand out was the hot, fresh French fries. The pastas were not cooked well but the sauce was decent. It seems like the price of the pasta dishes are similar but portions are much smaller, my friend ordered the lobster ravioli and got about 5 raviolis. The cheesesteak I got was not impressive, when they brought it out the sandwich was falling apart. When I asked for additional toppings like lettuce and mayo they were not provided. The sauce I asked for with the French fries was also not provided. The bread twist with garlic butter sauce were also tasty. The interior has been updated and is very nice. But the food is not impressive. Overall it is convenient in a pinch but nothing to go out of your way to eat at. *edited to correct the name of the menu item. Mistakenly called the bread twist with garlic butter a garlic bread knot. Sorry for the mistake

Yelp
I'm 55 years old and had my fair share of pizza from the Pgh area, had my first slice of pizza from here a couple a weeks back and I'll say confidently that it's the best pizza I've ever had, the buffalo chicken pizza is incredible and I'll keep going back.

Anıl Ç.

Yelp
With its excellent pizzas and magnificent menu and also its wonderful flavors, it is number one in Pittsburgh, always the best and highest quality choice.
google avatar

Yelp
The veggie wedgie is soooooo good!! Define one of the best wedgies I've had and I'm very picky about my wedgies. The delivery is also very quick. This is definitely a go to for lunch during the week. :)

Yelp
What a friendly staff. Extremely helpful. Was sooooo happy they were open. I will say - the menu is a little off putting at 12:30am. Way to much to chose from. The pizza was dynamite. Even though the cheese had all moved by the time we got back to the room - I'll tell ya - wow. I saw other reviews that the sauce was sweet - I thought it was spicy but I loved it!!! The meatball sub - needed help. It wasn't bad but it was not near the level of the pizza. I would think a little more sauce but that's me. Very solid pick 8/10.
google avatar

Yelp
Really big potions! Great for sharing.. yummy flavor defiantly must visit. Ordered chicken Alfredo comes with a salad and garlic bread. Bread taste so fresh!!

Paige V.

Yelp
Worst customer service of any food establishment downtown. And that's saying something. Literally the only upside of this place is the sauce on the pizza. If you don't enjoy your job, quit-- especially if it's customer facing. You've officially driven away the business of my friends and I after 2 nights in a row of bad attitudes and rushing us out 20 minutes before you're closed. The owners of this place really need to take a look at these reviews and take action on their employees who are consistently making customers uncomfortable. Luckily Pittsburgh has a great selection of pizza places, so good riddance and good luck. Do better.
google avatar

Mitchell R.

Yelp
Omg. I cannot say enough. Pizza is amazing. The crust is the perfect mix of soft and crunch. 10/10 Service is great. Just do it because it's a local place and you won't recognize it but you will NOT be sorry.
google avatar

Tim B.

Yelp
Pizza should be available late at night or anytime really. Seeing a lot of "social media" pizza places posting about ordering ahead or getting there early in the day to get their pizza (not talking about special orders). It may be the best pizza but if you can't get any of it at 10pm on a weeknight then is it really any good? After the arts fest last night Giovanni's on 6th (open until 1:00am). Large with mushrooms, $5 off walk-in special. They have tables and we ate it there under the American flag.
google avatar

Lindsay S.

Yelp
Good food, priced right. Came in because we caught the aroma from the sidewalk on the way to our hotel and we couldn't ignore it. Ordered two slices of pizza and didn't wait long. Plenty of seating to dine in and sneak a quick bite before returning :)
google avatar

Greg S.

Yelp
Ah yes, pizza. I mean, a perfect food, snack, whenever you want it, for breakfast, lunch, dinner, midnight snack. Just another great pizza shop here. Crunchy crust, a slightly sweet sauce, the yummy, gooey cheese, and pepperoni. A perfect food, and another great pizza shop. They also have calzones, strombolis, and everything a great pizza shop has.

Engineered C.

Yelp
the pepperoni bread twist was fantastic, also the employees were really chill. prices were good too
google avatar

Anissa G.

Yelp
YUM!!!! It's 11:00 pm, we're staying downtown and we're starving. My boyfriend and I walk by this place and ended up grabbing a slice of cheese and a slice of pepperoni. It did not disappoint!
google avatar

Mina H.

Yelp
Update for yinz, I was back in town for the first time since 2019. Stepped off a plane and headed right to Giovanni's... I was nervous to see if the quality and taste changed. You never know after COVID. Sure enough, the pizza tasted JUST as good as my college days. Love Giovanni's! Simply the best pizza.
google avatar

Anthony G.

Yelp
Ordered a couple of pizzas for late night delivery. Ease was order was great. Delivered within 40 minutes. Pizza was good for a late night order. Pepperoni pizza had good flavor and not too much sauce. White pizza was good as well.

Amy H.

Yelp
My husband and I were hungry after touring the city and wanted to grab a quick bite before leaving. We saw Giovanni's and decided to get a pizza and we are so glad we did because the pizza was amazing! We split a small supreme which was plenty of food for the two of us. They were steadily busy but we were able to order quickly and there was not a long wait to get our pizza. We will definitely be back the next time we're in Pittsburgh!
google avatar

Randy B.

Yelp
Adding onto my Pittsburgh food curse. Ordered a Medium Cheese Pizza and waited over forty minutes for it (in-person)! The pizza itself was good! Mid cheese but had a good crust and flavor overall. Dough and structure was too floppy though. The main reason why my experience wasn't pleasant was the wait (hangry-ness added onto this). After seeing customer after customer get their pizzas, my friends and I were very confused why a cheese pizza was taking so long. After asking the cashier, we waited ten minutes for her to go into the back and sort out the order. She finally came out and apologized for the wait (along with 2 extra slices).

Yelp
Placed an order over the phone for delivery at 12:06pm and was told about an hour and my total was $13.76. I live 7 mins from the shop. I gave it an hour (1:03pm) and then proceeded to call and politely ask about when it would be delivered. The lady told me 25-30 mins and they usually don't accept orders under $15. I'm unsure why this was mentioned because my order is already placed and apparently "in route" (and this wasn't mentioned when the order was placed). Regardless, I wait the 30 mins and then called to cancel my order. I ordered the Alfredo Penne Pasta. The food was undeniably going to be cold after an hour and 30 mins and who knows how much longer it would have been. The lady rudely tells me "How will you know the food is cold and its not there yet, fine ill cancel it, but ill make sure theres no more delivery orders to this address" and hung up. I called back to tell her how rude that was and she repeated her previous statement. Absolutely rude! Would never order here again.

Yelp
Here's the dilemma: the pizza is great. I love the sauce and the thickness of the crust and everything about it. So if this rating was based off the food alone it'd be 4-5 stars. Sadly it's hard to enjoy it when you're being rushed out the door by someone on the staff. I'm sure everyone in the back is great based on the great flavor, and the woman (sorry I don't have a name) I ordered with was great with me and every customer that came after - sadly for this restaurant that wasn't many as one of the male staff members was more than eager to tell everyone they were closed 20-30 minutes before they actually were. I've worked in pizza shops - my family used to own one. I know it's a pain in the butt when you have people showing up right around close. But if you don't want that, don't be a late night slice place for when the bars are closing. There were plenty of instances where I would have loved to leave my previous pizza shop jobs a little early, especially the late shifts, but if I would have ever urged the people dining there to leave and tell them we're closed before we were actually closed, the owner would have had my head. In our family's shop, they would have loved to have had the problem of having a steady stream of customers well into the night. This man turned away a three top that came in after us, roughly 20 minutes before close, claiming they were closed when the open sign was still clearly on and blinking into the void. Chirping over the counter that they were closed and we had to go as we're waiting for the pizza we already paid for. Unbelievable. I write this review because the ownership/management deserves to know that they are losing business because of a very easy fix.
google avatar

Rachel T.

Yelp
My parents love this pizza and I had never tried it before! We got their cheese pizza and the red sauce was a little too sweet for me. The crust is definitely the best part, and you can tell the dough is homemade. The inside of the restaurant is much larger than I expected! I have seen the pizza window next to the Byham before and didn't even realize they had indoor seating. It's nice and clean inside. This most recent time we decided to try a white pizza since I didn't love the red sauce. We ordered a large gourmet veggie pizza and asked for the pick up special. I was informed that the pickup special was only for cheese pizza, but they could offer me a free medium cheese pizza if I ordered a large veggie pizza. I'm not sure how this happened, but my total was $25 and I ended up with 2 pizzas. The order was ready in 15 minutes and the pizzas were sizzling hot. The veggie pizza was great, and not greasy at all. I would definitely order this again. I also noticed that they are open until 2 am! This is great to know since not many places offer late night pizza anymore.

Yelp
I'm a pizza snob, I admit it and I can live with it. But when you just returned from a four-stop brewery tour of Pittsburgh you take what you can get. Wifey and I definitely needed some food after our Uber dropped us off at the at the hotel so we walked down the street to Giovanni's to give Pittsburgh pizza a shot. There's only one table in the place so we took it and our slices were on the table in two minutes. The people running the place were super nice. Neither of us loved the pizza, but it hit the spot and did what it was supposed to do. The pizza tasted ok, but the snob in me needs more than that. The crust was too thick and the sauce was way too sweet for my Jersey taste, but as someone who was a little drunk it hit the spot. No idea if this is good 'Pittsburgh pizza' or not so you'll have to decide for yourself.
google avatar

Leah D.

Yelp
Umm, yeah I came to Pittsburgh to try some good food and they delivered (literally)! I got a small chicken spinach pizza with artichoke late last night. In pizza with toppings, I look for both quantity and quality and they STACKED it UP the regular crust was fluffy. There's a lot of pizza options in town, but this one stood out to me and for good reason! Zero complaints, go try it *shoutout to the delivery driver for being sweet even after I ordered a pizza during a blizzard.
google avatar

Seabass W.

Yelp
Tonight (10/9/23) is my first time ordering, and the employees are great. There's a lot of good pizza out there, and this is certainly one of them, but the fact that I got a phone call on a special note (which wasn't an allergy or dire situation) shows me that they actually care. I'm definitely a repeat customer now!
google avatar

Cass B.

Yelp
Yo, so I only usually eat badamo's and davide, but my buddy, who used to live in Pittsburgh, and was in from out of town wanted to order Giovanni's cuz it was his spot when he lived here. It was fire pizza. Italian Hoagie was not the best, but munchable. Free cheesy bread with an online order is next level. 7.5/10; would def do it again.
google avatar

Lauren A.

Yelp
Great zaaa. Don't skip out. It's reasonably priced. The cheese is fab so it the sauce. It's a little thicker than most pizzas which I really like.
google avatar

Jeff A.

Yelp
Haven't been here in 2 years, but it's an operational disaster. Ordered on-line, paid on-line and had a 15 minute wait just to give them my name. When I finally provided me name---they couldn't find the order. I showed the order confirmation and was told I wasn't in the system. 15 minutes later, after asking to speak to a manager, my order was found. I miss the ole' Giovanni's---from the taste to the system. The inside does like better, but the process is deeply flawed.
google avatar

Mandy F.

Yelp
Traveling and stopped in Pittsburgh for the night. Ordered Giovanni's and had it delivered to our hotel. So good! Highly recommend! We ordered a sausage pizza, cheese bread, hummus w/ pita, and got a bread twist free with our online order. Everything was seriously so good! Will be on our list each time we are in Pittsburgh.
google avatar

Douglas B.

Yelp
So underrated for Pizza. It's my staple for Hawaiian pizzas, we've tried plain pepperoni, cheese, the vegan/GF pizza, and it's always so good! I can't recommmend this pizza enough in Pittsburgh! Enjoy!
google avatar

Persian B.

Yelp
Hands down the best pizza thus far in this city....I totally recommend the veggie pizza and the Mediterranean pizza along with the cheese twist bread ....worth the price for the quality and taste.....don't believe me...try it yourself ...oh and they're open late!'
google avatar

Addison G.

Yelp
This is my go-to pizza place downtown. The online ordering tool is very easy to use and remembers my recent orders and payment information. I usually get an extra large cheese for $16 which is enough for four adults. Pizzas are tasty and not overly greasy. They usually cook in about 15-20 minutes. The wraps are also good, I especially like the Buffalo chicken wrap. Wraps seem a little expensive at $13 until you realize it's enough food for two meals.
google avatar

J W.

Yelp
Great little spot in Pittsburgh. We stopped in with 12 people and the food was AMAZING, served fast, hot and accurate. The staff was amazing. Definitely a place we would go back to if in town again.

Jorge S.

Yelp
Great pizza, outstanding taste and great people. Very friendly and amiable employees!
