Gippsland Lakes Escapes Holiday Accommodation - Paynesville

Made a booking over the Christmas period with a bunch of family that we hadn't seen in a while. Absolutely stellar service, property was in great condition (wonderful view), and they allowed our 2 dogs at the location. Don't generally leave reviews... ever... but the way everything came together made it a wonderful experience.

Unacceptable Last-Minute Cancellation. We're appalled and disappointed by the unprofessional behavior by this agency which manages over 140 listings on Airbnb. Despite booking our accommodation five months ago for a New Year's celebration, we received a sudden and inexplicable cancellation email today at 8:30 am. This heartless decision has left our group of 11, traveling from different states, without accommodation for our planned celebration. With their office closed until Monday, we're unable to resolve this situation promptly. To add insult to injury, we're told it will take 14 days to receive our $6,000 refund, leaving us without the necessary funds to secure alternative accommodations. This unethical treatment has caused us significant distress. Thank you so much for the $120 Airbnb credit! We expect a higher level of professionalism and empathy from a reputable agency. Their actions have fallen woefully short of our expectations.

We stayed at Chenu Homestead for 2 nights this past weekend. We had other accomodation booked, but unfortunately the other property had a problem and it was not an option for us any more. The staff at Gippsland Lakes Escapes (particularly dealing with Geoff) could not have handled this better by offering us another property. Chenu was our back up, but we all immediately walked into that house and fell in love. We all had the best weekend, had space to roam, beautiful scenery, great facilities and never felt cramped (and for 6 people in one house that is saying something!). All the appliances were top tier, the beds were super lux and comfy, the pool was big (with a 2.3m drop!), the TV was huge, the list goes on. Our group are extremely picky with our locations and have had some interesting experiences in the past, but as soon as we walked in we wanted to come back again and again! We hope to see Chenu again soon!

My husband myself and 2 other families stayed at the Capes Road, Lakes Entrance house early January 2025. While we enjoyed Lakes entrance itself the house was awful. The house needs a lot of work and maintenance however this was not the main issue. Upon arrival we notice a foul smell. This was the result of Rotting shell fish and crab shells in both bins out the front and compost bin out the back. When I called and requested other issues to be attended to as well as the rotting fish smell the women advised theres probably not a lot they can do. They sent a cleaner around and she picked up dog faeces which was left there by previous clients and took some rubbish from the outside bins to allow us some room for our weeks stay. The cleaner who attended couldn't be in the rear yard without covering her face and couldn't deal with the rotting shell fish because of how bad it smelt and she put in a maintenance request. This smell we had to put up with for 3 days!! Now let me bring all the other issues to your attention! There was Rat sack in kids bedroom right up on the wardrobe down stairs when next to it was the top bunk. Easily accessible for children as this was a children's bedroom!! Pin in draw in kids bedroom. Nails sticking out throughout all the decking down stairs and upstairs. Toilet doesn't work down stairs properly. Chest freezer doesn't work and had a note on it saying sorry for the bait smell. Bait blood was in it still!!!! This also had a smell to it. Outside bins so full we couldn't use it. Dog faeces throughout whole back yard. We did not bring a dog and we had 3 small toddlers and 4 children wanting to run around the rear yard. Bbq was left filthy The upstairs hallway smells like urine. Two out of three mattress are terrible and one appears to have a big crevas in it. The Air conditioner down stairs in the lounge doesn't have a working controller to it. Pretty uncomfortable on hot days which we had nice hot days all week! Curtains in upstairs rooms are broken and doesn't block out the sun which isn't ideal for young toddlers trying to sleep at night when it's daylight savings or if we were trying to keep the house cool on hot days by shutting the blinds. There is a pile of fence pailings with nails sticking out of them in rear yard. Not safe for a holidays house advertising for families. No gas for the BBQ in both gas bottles. We have the receipt for the new one we replaced!! Lollies and a random pill/tablet in the couch upstairs. How does this even happen when cleaners attend the property after the people leave. Cleaning standards are severely lacking. Vacuum doesn't work properly. Fridge was not clean behind the crisper when we put our food in there!! Hall way cupboard doesn't shut properly Tile in down stairs shower coming off Food and crumbs under couch cusions down stairs lounge room. We didn't expect a flash expensive home but we did expect a safe clean home for what we paid for. And when emailing the company that manages this property about the issue's they still have not responded! Not worth the money spent, theres plenty of other properties out there that's managed a lot better than this one.

They ruined our last minute family trip. We travelled from gold coast with no accomedation due to last minute cancellation

Last minute cancellation. Appalled, we cant even contact them as they are closed due to public holidays. Zero star if possible

We were a group of 10 women so the sleeping arrangements were interesting. The living areas were great and kitchen adequate, however a few more glasses would be helpful. The bathroom arrangements were not ideal as the bungalow stayers had to go across to main house for toilets and showers. It would be good if a toilet and basin could be installed at the bungalow as difficult during the night. A very pleasant outlook from the property, beautiful and quiet. Possibly better suited to young families.
