Barcelona Itinerary: How to Spend 3-5 days here in 2025

"I love Girona for climbing the city walls, wandering the narrow lanes of the Jewish Quarter, visiting the Cathedral and Monastery of Saint Daniel, strolling across the small Eiffel-designed bridge, and soaking up a quieter historic atmosphere; the normal train takes about 80 minutes and the high-speed train about 38 minutes." - Matthew Kepnes

We were happy to see Miguel Roger, our walking tour guide, waiting at the train station. Although the duration agreed was for three hours, we completed the tour in two and half hours. This because we were not comfortable walking the steep uphill climbs in many places. However, Miguel took us through the important tourist spots, explaining its historical significance. Highly recommend using his services when visiting Girona. He is knowledgeable and.in this business for over three decades.

We had an excellent day in Girona and Besalu with Miquel! He did a great job of providing us with interesting and entertaining historical information and insights, without overloading us. And, he showed us all the key points of interest in both locations. So much better than wandering around on our own. Very highly recommended!

We contacted Miquel through Google and his response was prompt. He picked us from the train station and took us around the old city, telling us about the history, the legends and other information on the changes in the city over centuries. We are seniors and he adjusted the pace and took the route that did not involve too many steps. Soft spoken in English, more like a friend. Highly recommended.

Miquel was very responsive and friendly from the moment we first messaged him. He met us at the train station and was able to adapt our tour to comfortably accommodate our group’s diverse ages (ranging from 13 years to 85 years old!). His tour of Girona was interesting and very engaging. He had us all listening to every word. I highly recommend Miquel for your tour of Girona!

Miquel was so easy to schedule with - we booked far in advance and there he was on our date months out picking us up from the Palermos port for a day of touring the Dalí Theater museum and the historic town of Girona. He was prompt, insightful, and explained all about this region as he knows it very well as a local. Miquel was extremely knowledgeable on all things Dali, and really explained what we were seeing and made sure we saw every key aspect of the museum. It was a unique place and I now have insight on Dali’s life thanks to Miquel’s wonderful detail and explanation. We then drove to Girona, where Miquel is from, and ate at a local cafe- thanks to his suggestions we ordered a great lunch of wonderful regional food. Afterwards we walked through historic Girona, and learned about the old Jewish quarter. I love history so was intrigued by his explanation of what happened to the Jews and how this beautiful place and people lived over the years to come. Seeing the indentation in the walls of ancient mezuzas from the past is a vision I will never forget. Miquel drove us back to the port after a fantastic day and I highly recommend him as a tour guide. Thanks Miquel for a truly memorable day!!

Miquel’s tour of Dalí Museum and Girona was the highlight of our Barcelona trip! Miquel met us at the Girona Train station and drove us to Figueres to start the story of Salvador Dali. We walked the town streets and then visited the Museum. Miquel is not an art curator but a story teller who brought Dalí to life. He doesn’t talk about brush strokes but who Dalí was and importance of various painting. We were not Doli fans prior to visit but are now. Next lunch in Girona at local, we were only English speakers, restaurant with only local food. After lunch took walking tour of Girona and found the history fascinating as Miquel explained the Christian, Jewish, Muslim and Roman influences. Girona has the best preserved Jewish Quarter in Europe and Miquel knew it well. Again not in a style of a history but as a story with many plots and characters. After tour back to the train station and 40 minutes later in Barcelona. Strongly recommend Miquel’s tour.

Had a wonderful morning with Miguel who took us on a walking tour of Girona. We were a group of 14 people - all ages. Miguel connected well with us and responded to our interests and requests. He is very knowledgeable and presents the stories and history that surrounds this wonderful town in a very interesting manner - often times looking at different sides of the same story from different perspectives. He shared with us an insight into the town to which he is very connected and shared his heritage with us. Highly recommend.
