Gîte du Parc Lafontaine

This hostel is great if you're looking for a quieter, more friend and family vibe. The outdoor areas are super and outdoor shower is #1!! The staff are all awesome, friendly and helpful. A top hostel in Montreal with one of the lowest prices. Would stay again for sure.

Stayed 3 nights from 15th August 2018. Shared 4 woman room. Room fine. Bunks comfortable. Atmosphere really helpful and friendly. Breakfasts the very best in Canada so far. Position great for exploring. Loved it.

Absolutely horrible. I successfully booked this hostel through Hostelworld (reservation fee, confirmation e-mail and all), only to find upon arrival that they had cancelled my booking due to an 'invalid credit card" (despite obviously having a valid card, considering I paid the reservation fee), effectively leaving me high and dry after 6 hours of travel and 50+lbs of luggage. Looking into it after-the-fact, turns out they tried to pre-authorize a billing under a different name 'Gîte du Plateau' instead of their actual name, which is why their attempt to validate my card was rejected. Absolutely horrible policy, and horrible communication.

One of my absolute favorite experiences of Montreal was staying here and interacting with the people, choosing to shower outdoors <it's a thing> and eating those awesome pancake breakfasts :D top notch staff as well. Only thing... where's the hotub time machine yo!?
