I visited only five wine tasting establishments in Alsace, so I can't claim this is the "best place in all of Alsace", but it certainly was the best of those that I visited (and most of the others were very good). The wines here were excellent. True to the spirit and soils of Riquewihr, but with some variety in style and technique
The knowledge of my host, not only as to wines and winemaking around the world, but also on the depths of centuries of European and Alsatian history and culture, was most impressive and entertaining. I absolutely enjoyed my visit here, as well as the wines I purchased here.
Also, if you are driving, the parking here is so much easier than places in the old village. Purchase all you want and carry your wines only steps to your car.
I only wish I bought more. If the Rosacker is available...well, a better, more balanced and nuanced grand cru riesling may be hard to find. Unless you have the time to visit every winery in the Alsace.
