"The Giza Plateau is famous for being guarded by the mystical Sphinx, a half-man, half-lion figure. It is a major highlight for visitors."

The pyramids are amazing but the management company rents out an area near the sphinx and allows deafening, wall rattling music to play until past 3:00 am. It ruins any stay in the neighborhood. It's sad that the pursuit of money is destroying the experience of the only remaining wonder of the world.

What's the Giza Plateau you ask? Basically, its the huge, flat area in the desert where the ancient Egyptians decided to build giant pyramids to be their really fancy graves. That’s the Giza Plateau. It home for the massive Great Pyramid, the Sphinx (aka the world’s most famous cat statue), and a bunch of smaller pyramids too. If you see giant stones and a lot of tourists, congratulations, you’ve arrived. Actually, being at the pyramids was the best thing about being in Cairo. It felt like I walked into a history channel documentary. 10/10, would get sunburned again.

The only remaining wonder of the ancient seven wonders. Tickets can be paid only with credit card. Avoid contact with the souvenirs seller and camel guys. Enjoy

The Giza plateau is like looking at a book out of ancient history. The fact that the pyramids are still standing is a wonder. I would recommend visiting early in the morning or later in the evening to avoid the basking hot sun and also the crowds.

This is one of the most beautiful places on earth. It’s very majestic and fascinating, it really speaks for itself. It’s truly jaw dropping eye popping. I’ve been here several times now and it never gets old. It’s one of the ancient wonders of the world and the last one still standing, it’s a very extraordinary place to visit and I would definitely recommend doing so.

While the pyramids are worth more than five stars, the camel and horse riders make you feel unsafe. Furthermore, they are very insistent and some of them are very intimidating. Shame that the authorities do not step in and make the site more safe for tourists.

Can't rate the pyramids of giza & the sphynx highly enough. Visited for the day & would reccomend being on a guided tour so u know what your looking at. Wear comfy flat shoes or trainers are best. Lots of people trying to sell you stuff but I reccomend just not speaking to them or before u know it they will put a scarf on ur head or try giving u a papyrus as a gift but it's all a ruse & will want money. If u ho with a guide they protect you & they knee our guide so pretty much left us alone. Definitely allow at least 2 to 3 hours to have a proper walk around. It will be hot so take bottled water. You can walk around the pyramids & on the pyramids but if u want to go into the pyramid there is an extra charge. We booked this tour from hurghada with ramashka tours, our tour guide was mamma & he was awesome. You can find their tours on trip advisor & I would reccomend booking before u get to Egypt on holiday. You can book tours once there in egypt but can be more expensive & if u don't have a tour guide u will miss out on enjoying this amazing place. The tour guide will also give u so much information it adds so much to the tour. Don't go to Egypt without going here this is my most memorable place I visited on my hols. Standing at the base of the sphynx & looking up with the pyramids in the background was breath taking. I went 6th Nov and temp was around 28 so ideal temperature.

It's the freaking pyramids... they are amazing and a global icon of ancient history and travel. The area needs investment and clean up-- for sure. But, come on, it's an incredible location which every person should be able to see. Grab a carriage and bargain for 250 LE for the whole trip around the site-- it's worth it. Give the guy 50 le if he does a good job, 100 if he's great. Be wary of price gouging camel guides-- agree upon a fair price ahead of time. Never more than 200 LE for any photo opportunity. Just be nice, but be firm. It's an amazing location and should be visited in the early morning. If you are a student, bring your ID and you'll get a discount.
