This is such a lovely DNT “hut”! Accessible by car you can plot many hikes that are not “strenuous” while challenging. They provide you with materials for packing a lunch (gluten free too). You can rent the sauna for an hour and dip in the lake, use the drying room, get tips from Marius, try local lamb, reindeer stew, Jerusalem artichoke soup… incredible! They make an effort to use local ingredients, be sustainable, and are incredibly helpful. Miss it already. Taking a day ferry across the lake to hike from a different location is a great solution. We rented their linens, and had a private room. Was fabulous!

The dorms are a joke. 28 people packed into a single small 20m2 room, with no individual beds. No room for your belongings. All the beds are placed on the same bed frame. Felt more like a war refugee camp. They have silent hours that almost no one respects. Overpriced.

Dnt Gjendesheim blew my expectations away with their beautiful location, friendly service and accessible services. The cabin is very cozy, clean and well kept. We didn't have any of the food that was being served, but there is easy acess to boiling water in the dining room, so that you can make your freeze-dried meals easier. There is also hot chocolate! Overall: A bed, a cozy home, hot showers and more for only 370nok (about 30 euros) is really great. Dnt cabins make long trips in this area a lot more accessible for beginners and less serious hikers. I will definitely be back here some day!

Great cabin in a brilliant location. Good food, nice staff, and they even have a sauna which you can book for 200 NOK between 4-5 or 5-6pm. Dinner is family-style, all sitting at a table together which is really nice. You can get the ferry to Memuburu or Gjendbu and walk the Besseggen ridge from here. I recommend walking the ridge in the direct of towards Gjendesheim, otherwise you have quite a bad descent to do!

Our stay was absolutely fabulous!! I think some of the people posting reviews are ones who are looking at the cabin like a hotel rather than as part of the Norwegian mountain association huts. It is by far the best mountain hut that we have ever stayed in. The bed was super cozy, the staff really friendly, the dinner super yummy and based on local foods. They have great cozy areas too. The views from these areas are stunning and in true Norwegian style they are super cozy with blankets and a fireplace. Have never seen a mountain hut quite like this!

We've been to many cabins during our hiking trips, and we were very positively surprised and very satisfied after our stay. It was clean, the rooms were great standard for being a mountain cabin like this, the food was amazing!! And the people working there was very helpful and super friendly. It is a mountain cabin and not a hotel, but it absolutely deserves great ratings!

Not sure why it says 3 star hotel on google because this is surely not a 3 star hotel. It is much closer to camping than a 3 star hotel. The services are very basic. The location is very nice. The price is ridiculous, totally overpriced.

Absolutely delicious 3-course dinner with local produce of the highest quality! The stunning views, excellent service and mountain cabin setting only add to the experience! It's worth it even if you only stop there for dinner. At Gjendesheim they serve some of the best food I've ever had in Norway, including a Vegetarian option.
