"The words “family friendly’ are overused, but at the GK Beach Hotel on Crete’s northern coast, the focus is squarely on parents and kids alike. With a backdrop of the majestic White Mountains, surrounded by tropical gardens and less than a stone’s throw from the beach, it ticks all the boxes for views. But it’s the facilities for families where GK Beach Hotel excels. There are two swimming pools (including a paddling pool), an onsite restaurant and, in summer, a host of organised activities for 5-11 year olds – allowing parents some me time on those sun-drenched sands. The simple but serviceable suites are flexible enough to cater to families of most sizes, with extra beds and cooking facilities too; plus they all have views over the gardens and the ocean. With only 23 of them, the vibe is intimate, tranquil and relaxed. Outside the school holidays, the resort is great for couples too: the pretty town of Kalyves is a short stroll away, or hop into a car and take off to bustling Chania with its Venetian architecture and buzzy nightlife. But if you’re stuck on babysitting duty, there’s a great onsite beach bar and taverna for dinner and cocktails as the sunset flares over the Aegean Sea. I’ve been coming to this beach club daily for the past three weeks, and it has been an amazing experience. The food is excellent, the coffee is delicious, and the sunbeds are super comfortable with a beautiful view of the beach. The service is outstanding—especially Claudio, who was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We were always served quickly and never had to wait long for food or drinks. This is truly a top spot and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to relax during their stay.

We spent many pleasant days during our holiday in Kalives on the beach by the GK Hotel because of its beautiful location. We used the beach bar facilities to order drinks and snacks and also, on several occasions had lunch in their beachfront restaurant. The beach service, headed by Claudio,and his team were excellent. Service was quick and efficient. All members of the team were welcoming, friendly and helpful...TOP CLASS !! Unfortunately, our experience in the restaurant was a little different. Although the service was good and the food OK, we felt the head waiter was a little surly and not very customer friendly. He was extremely efficient in his job but sometimes abrupt with customers and even, on one occasion, with other members of his staff.

Fabulous holiday at this lovely relaxed hotel right on the beach . |Staff:-|The Simpsons concierges, Sarah and Ioanna, could not have been more friendly, on-hand or helpful - they were just great!|The staff were all very friendly with a particular mention to Babis at breakfast, Claudio on the beach and Eva in the restaurant (to name but a few that made an impression). They all work so hard but are always happy even under pressure. Drinks on the beach arrive so quickly after ordering - very efficient system.|Rooms:-|The rooms are on the simple side but ample. Shower was great and the bed was super comfy. A few more sockets/usb points in more useful places would have been helpful but they do provide an extension lead in the room. |Food:-|Food at breakfast was good and again ample but probably not worthy of 5 stars as a bit limited with no made to order food. Fresh orange juice was lovely. Restaurant was good but not outstanding but generally the specials were the best and it was so handy to eat there with the lovely view right on the beach.|Area:-|Nice selection of local restaurants and good supermarket very close by too which is handy. Bus from outside supermarket takes you to Chania which is only 30 mins away and well worth looking around the Venetian harbour and old town. We didn’t have a car so didn’t explore more than Chania and Rethymno but I know there are many more places to visit and things to do! Trips that were advertised at welcome meeting were all super expensive so didn’t do any of these!|All in all a very good holiday with wonderful staff and a pretty setting right on the beach and away from busy and touristy parts of Crete! Would recommend it!

This hotel is perfectly situated - Crystal clear warm sea, a beautiful beach and pool and fabulous service throughout. We ate out a couple of times but the restaurant food and atmosphere were so good, we didn’t feel the need to venture out. The hotel has beach sunbeds and a great team who look after you on the beach and at the beach bar restaurant. Being small means that it feels really peaceful and very safe. I can’t recommend this place enough!

I stayed at GK Beach Hotel for a week and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The rooms were spotless, spacious, and beautifully decorated, with stunning views of the sea just steps away. Waking up to the sound of the waves every morning was pure bliss.||The breakfast was a highlight—fresh, delicious, and made with local ingredients. From warm pastries to perfectly cooked eggs and fresh fruit, everything was thoughtfully prepared and served with a smile.||The location is unbeatable—right on the beach, peaceful, and relaxing. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. I genuinely didn’t want to leave!||Highly recommend GK Beach Hotel if you’re looking for a relaxing escape with top-notch service and authentic Cretan hospitality. Will definitely be coming back!

My second time to GK beach last year with my wife , this year with my daughter, First class service from the moment you book to the moment you return. Sarah and Ionna at Gk Beach are outstanding, always available , calm so knowledgeable, nothing too much trouble, We ate out several times at little restaurants in Kalyves and the countryside, superb locations and food. Hotel itself great position ,staff friendly and speak English, rooms have everything you need , great buffet breakfast, lunches / snacks excellent , also evening dinner.|Sarah and Ionna made our stay exceptional, again. Must mention the lady who cleaned our room daily, changed towels, exceptional. i think sometimes people forget housekeepers. |We have been to Corsica , Majorca, Turkey and now twice to Crete with Simpsons, you just cannot fault their service. The team in uk, who answer queries brilliant
