Let’s set the stage. This hotel is old and poorly maintained but in a killer location for visiting Glacier NP. We paid $140. the week after Labor Day when all the other properties in the area are in the $300-$400 range. Value is probably equivalent to a $70-80 hotel in a non resort area so don’t pay cheap and expect a resort. ||It appeared reasonably clean, but I learned how dirty the carpet was when I stepped into the shower and saw the dirt running off my feet. Yuck. The bed was decently comfortable and clean. The mini fridge worked. The room was pleasantly roomy and temperature was good but only because the outside temp was moderate. ||Here is the scary part. There were two plugs in our room that are so old they are only 2 prong, with no third ground. Into one of these was plugged an adapter so a three prong power strip could be plugged. Plugged into the power strip was the fridge, a fan and the window AC Unit!! Yikes. There was a newer surface mounted 3 prong plug by the AC but it didn’t work!! Makes me wonder why? No plug in the poorly lit bathroom. Other concerns is the door locks - just a household grade knob with a thumb turn that you need to remember to lock. Not even a deadbolt. ||This hotel is managed and owned by Glacier Highland a mile up the road where the front desk is located. Chris who worked there was awesome both when he checked us in and took our phone reservation. They do try to sell you into the nicer property there. A lot of this property is used for seasonal worker housing. ||Your choice. It worked for us.

This may be the worst lodging experience I have had in my life. This property is very old and has not been maintained. The foundation is no longer level. The carpet in unit 1 was heavily stained. The whole unit smelled of "decay". The bathroom lacked a mirror. Internet access is rudimentary at best. Our vista view looked away from the mountains and was dominated by a very tired truck. This property was so bad that we checked out early.

Good location near Glacier National Park but: Awful bed. Moldy shower. Wifi n/a. Stained carpet. Door locks unsecure. Bedroom window doesn't close. Dirty window sills. Noisy highway and trains next to property. Poor value. WAY to expensive.

Room was clean, with good service, but their internet connection was slower than what I had at home 23 years ago. 4 Mb/s is seriously antiquated. Their outlets also only had 2 holes so I was unable to plug in my laptop at the table, and had to use the power strip with a grounding adapter. Also, I should point out that the locks on their rooms aren't very secure. A thief could easily kick the door in, so don't leave valuables in the room when you're out.

We had a cabin. Not very big, but it had a full sized refrigerator and a microwave. Our friends were in the motel and were not so lucky.|It is an old cabin and could use a lot of work. Yes, it's close to Glacier national park and is only open seasonally, but new electric wiring would add so much to the security of visitors. A smoke alarm would add a nice touch.|It was decorated in the garage/scratch and dental style. The kitchen utensils were very basic.|I did develop an allergy reaction due to ancient dust and molds. |We were very close to the park entrance and that was the one bonus. We spent more time in Glacier than in the cabin|

This hotel was indeed close to the west entrance of GNP. It is also right on hwy 2 and across from the train tracks so it’s quite noisy. The views, which are lovely, are from the front of the motel, on the hwy, and not visible from the picnic table, which is the only outdoor seating. The night we stayed here, the power and water were both knocked out by a storm which definitely soured our experience here. The room itself was rustic with a minuscule shower. Check-in and ice are both in a separate location. I’m not sure what the lodging is like further away but given the few amenities here and in town, not to mention the noise, I’d look elsewhere for something a bit nicer and further from the highway.

While some have discussed the train sounds I would say they are a welcome part of the stay in West Glacier! The trains are a very important part of this part of the country so come here knowing you will hear and see trains often but peace more often! I have an app on my phone called White Noise and use the heavy rain setting nightly no matter where I am and this allows me to sleep through most anything even on low setting including the sounds here and I am a crazy light sleeper. Now, the room is very comfortable, very pretty knotty pine walls, carpeting and the beds/linens, towels are all very nice! The bathroom is very compact as is the shower but the decorations and cleanliness of this entire place make me really enjoy everything and overlook some things. There is a small building that houses nice tables and chairs along w 2 microwaves, toaster and a wood fire place. I find this place very comfortable and it suited our needs just great! We arrived by Amtrak from St. Paul with only our backpacks and bikes and so this was just super for us. I travel a great deal all over the world and while I love a very nice 5 star I am not looking for that here! And, just so you know, the wifi is not great but worked okay in the community room and in our room because we were close enough to the router. It is 0.8 miles to the depot FYI and an easy and very pretty ride into the park! I think 3 miles to Lake Mc Donald

Yelp
We spent five nights there and despite repeated calls and promises, they never cleaned the room. I only got new towels because I had to drive to the office, a few minutes away, and demand some.

Yelp
I absolutely loved my stay here ($80 rate during pre-season), comfortable queen sized bed, and modern amenities. Parking was right in front of our motel. Location is very close to west glacier. Wifi worked wonderfully well compared to the other places we stayed at. The person managing the place was very nice. She gave us free ice! Lastly they have a community area where you can hang out, as well as two hammocks in the back. Would highly recommend this place for the price!

Yelp
Stayed at a cabin here when visiting Glacier National Park. The location is perfect, as it's literally right down the road about 1-2 minutes from the park. It was confusing about where to check-in, but the process was easy. The cabin was clearly very old, but it was clean. It met our needs, although it was the cabin furthest to the side of the group and the wifi didn't work half the time.

Yelp
I'm giving this place 4-stars for what it is: a clean, inexpensive, no frills place to stay. We recently stayed here during our visit to Glacier Park, reserving 3 rooms in total. Two of the rooms had 1-king bed, the other was a 2-room cabin. The king rooms lacked A/C, but they each had at least 2 fans to help cool the rooms down. The motel staff was very helpful and friendly and provided a light snack in the morning to get you started. I would stay here again, but I will request a room with A/C.

Yelp
Currently staying here, July 2020. We checked in last night and discovered our bathroom window does not close or lock, and it is a ground floor room. Anyone could easily get into the room through it. Came back to our room today to find housekeeping had left our door unlocked! I called the front desk to inform them and they said "we have elderly people who clean our rooms so sometimes they forget things". In my opinion that is not something that should be forgotten. The desk clerk also implied that they thought we had checked out, which is impossible because our belongings are all over the room and while they did replace our towels they did not make the beds. Would not recommend this place if you value security at all. Extremely poor customer service.

Yelp
Do not book here. I have a doctor note that says no travel at this time. I planned to rebook my stay for another time and they refused to let me but still made me pay the 40%. I will never stay at this place while visiting Glacier.

Yelp
We reserved 2 nights at the Vista Motel. Check-in was simple and the price was reasonable versus the expensive lodges inside the park. We specifically reserved a room with a small kitchenette. We got Room #9. We were happy with the room. We parked right outside our room. Low ceiling but clean. There is a new small air-condition unit. Bathroom is a bit cramp but efficient. The small bathroom sink was not a big deal since there is another sink in the room. There is also a microwave, small fridge, and coffee maker. The morning breakfast included fresh coffee and muffins. There is a BBQ grill, we used it one night. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Vista Motel. Free wifi (ok for emailing speed) but no tv. All the staff we encountered were friendly. Be advised the check-in area is not 24 hrs so be sure to plan your check-in accordingly. The motel is located right off the road so you could hear cars driving by depending where your room is located. A train track is located nearby as well. A train does rumble by at night (one time) at night. None of that bothered us. As for location, this motel is just 1 mile from the park entrance.

Yelp
We got to Glacier late, and the closest campgrounds were full, so we were very relieved to find a motel so close to the west entrance of the park. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but our room was clean and comfortable. Our room had 3 queen size beds, which is nice for a family of 5. The continental breakfast was simple, but with outside covered tables with a beautiful view. It isn't fancy; small bathroom; no tv; but it served our needs well.

Yelp
Best customer service bar none! I had the pleasure of staying at the Vista motel for a week in July. I knew it was rustic when I booked the reservation and it did not disappoint. The room was clean and met my needs. A community room was available for lounging or connecting to WiFi. The ladies at the desk were fantastic. Very welcoming and unbelievably accommodating. Really made it feel warm and inviting. Should I venture that way again, I will definitely be back.

Yelp
Minutes to entrance to park. The motel is older that has updated bathrooms. Loved the original pine wood paneling, charming. Has breakfast room with fireplace. Breakfast is basic, but enough (oatmeal, muffins, toast, coffee).

Yelp
Stopped in late to try to find a motel in West Glacier, Mt. Saw alot of "No Vacancy" signs. Started to drive to Hungry Horse, Mt. and saw the Vista Motel. They had a room and were very nice. The rooms were very clean and it had a great view of the sunset over Glacier National Park. Great coffee and toast in the morning and the motel is located within a half mile of the entrance to Glacier National Park.

Yelp
A top-notch motel. Very basic but the staff are amazing, beds comfortable and the bathrooms stocked with nice towels and soap/shampoo/conditioner. They provided fresh baked muffins (plus coffee and a few other things) in the morning. It is not fancy but for the location and price, it is great place to stay when visiting Glacier.

Yelp
Stayed here in August of 2014 in Cabin 22. Was super clean & comfy! The cabin was super small but the king size bed made up for it! We had made an earlier reservation but cancelled, thinking that we were staying with friends and then had to re-reserve. We may have gotten a larger cabin had we stuck with our original reservations. Staff was friendly and home made Huckleberry muffins with coffee in the morning were great! The proximity to the West Glacier National Park entrance, helicopter tours and Glacier Distillery were an added plus! Would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
My wife and i stayed here mid September 2011 for two nites and were quite pleased. As many of the motels in the area do, The Vista closes for the season about late September because the park itself pretty much shuts down then also. They are located a mile or so west of the entrance to the park on highway 2, but you hear very little road noise. This is an older (1950's ?) motel that has been upgraded inside, but certainly still shows its age on the outside which we really enjoyed. When I called to make a reservation I mentioned I have a bad leg, and would appreciate an accessible bathroom. The nice lady said she would check the rooms to make sure one might fit my needs and would call me back. Sure enough, she called and assured me room #14 (I believe) would work. Check in was easy, and as we entered the room we realized we had made a good choice. Two queen beds pretty much fill the room. They were comfortable with great pillows and warm blankets, and everything was clean. The bathroom was quite large, had been updated and did, in fact, have.a walk-in shower which i appreciated. They offer soap, shampoo, and plenty of towels. There are no tv''s but one does not come to such a beautiful place to watch tv. Our cell service did work. We slept well both nites. In the morning they serve a light continental breakfast in what they call the rock room This is a separate structure with a glass wall facing the beautiful Glacier Park., with comfortable easy chairs and tables to relax and enjoy your coffee or tea. Oh what a fantastic way to start the day to explore this most beautiful of all National Parks!. I found The Vista Motel listed on my favorite travel site tripadvisor.com, where they receive favorable ratings. Folks who have been to Glacier before know most accommodations are going to be older, and smaller inside as was the case in the 1950's and 60's era motels and hotels. You will find no Holiday Inn type places (or even lesser chain motels) close to the park, so if one keeps that in mind when booking, you will have a fantastic stay. Book early as they fill quickly

Yelp
I am planning a tirp to Glacier National Park next month (September). I booked a reservation and was told that they would email me a confirmation which they never did. Later that day I changed my mind (decided to stay in the park). When I called (the same day) the woman at the front desk asked why I was canceling the reservation. I told her it was because I decided I wanted to stay inside the park she said "You should have done your research before you called. You have wasted a lot of our time." I then asked her to email me a confirmation that my reservation was canceled and she said "No, I won't email you anything, your reservation has been canceled." I can't believe HOW RUDE SHE WAS. I'm glad I didn't waste my money staying there. The front desk at Apgar Village inside the park was extremely friendly and helpful. I look forward to staying at Apgar Village next month. I gave Vista Motel one star because I had to enter something - it really deserves NO STARS

Yelp
only as a last resort should u book this place. the rooms are small, hot and stuffy. our windows would not open and there is no air condition, only a lousy fan. . very small bathroom, no place to hang or store clothes. ask permission to use the BBQ if u don't want trouble... also, found cig butts everywhere outside. the breakfast they serve is nothing but carbs, no fruit etc. very disappointing in general.
