Reading rooms are stunning. Wide range of materials. Peaceful and comfortable. Very helpful staff. The library provides a number of excellent spots for any writing or reading. We were a couple. One of us was using the library and the other used the space for a quiet weekend break... read and did some craft work. Bedroom was basic, but pleasant. Breakfast was good. Dinner was a bit disappointing. Food was very bland it's like they'd forgotten to add sauces/bases... maybe they did?! Either way, we came for the library, not the food or the room, and the library was fantastic.

We stayed for a night and had a great experience. The library is amazing and contains so many interesting texts. The reading rooms are a treat for any researcher or reader and all staff are helpful and informative. The lady on reception made us feel very welcome and explained how we could plan our stay. The room was also lovely, large and airy. We had a room with a private bathroom. We had to cross a corridor to use it but had our own key and it was also huge. The food is also great and the best part is you can take books back to your room. Loved it....

Reading rooms are cosy and beautifully silent. Perfect for studying as well as research using the library itself. You need to apply to be a reader to use the library services, just bring some photo ID on your first visit and there's a suggested £5 donation when you get set up. The on site cafe (food for thought) has excellent food with a local menu and very reasonable prices. The Welsh rarebit jacket potato is a lovely twist on a classic. Staff always super friendly and helpful but Peter was especially lovely today. Apologetic for the tiniest wait (literally under a minute) and someone you can tell really loves his job and customers.

My partner and I spent four days here, and found it to be everything we had hoped for. I was able to concentrate fully on my writing project. Not only the atmosphere, but also the actual contents of the library were very helpful and stimulating. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room was sober but very nice (and even had a good writing desk, too), and the restaurant was lovely. The nearby estate offers good opportunities for walking if you need to get away from screen or paper. I hope to return before too long!

Had afternoon tea at the Gladstone library for a birthday celebration. Excellent choice of cakes and sandwiches, served by attentive staff. Interesting history regarding the building in a beautiful village in north Wales

I had a wonderful few days here. My room was lovely - lovely big deep bath with loads of hot water and a comfortable bed. The food was nice - although I ate in the village a couple of times too just to see what that was like. The breakfast was lovely - they just say continental which I think downplays it a bit as there is a lot more choice than that suggests. The staff were all friendly and helpful - and clearly totally enthusiastic about their place of work. The library itself is absolutely gorgeous - such an amazing space to be in and it's so important that it's there. I got lots done and there is something about the atmosphere that lends itself to productivity in the best sense. Beautiful grounds and chapel - and the sound of the chapel bells was wonderful. Lovely local walks too. Thanks Gladstone's Library for a fantastic stay.

Having seen the photos, we were really looking forward to seeing the library. They wouldn't let us in because we weren't researchers. Very disappointing. The reading room and chapel are nice and the outside is beautiful in the sunshine. Fairly ordinary café.
