Stopped in for a simple lunch. Had coffee and mushroom soup and shared a plate of chips. All top quality. With friendly service, lovely mountain views and a warm variety of areas to sit in this place is a great destination for lunch. There is ample parking too at no cost.

My room was a little on the small side, but the bed was comfortable, the shower hot, perfect after a day out hiking.
The staff were all wonderful, and the food was first class. The location has to be seen to be believed, right in the heart of the lake district with easy access to fantastic hikes. Would definitely stay here again.

A very friendly hotel, in a stunning location. The hotel is pleasantly decorated, comfortable and has an enticing lounge. The bar has local real ales, a good wine list. However it is the food that really makes it a great place to stay. The meals are great! Everything is very clean too. A super place to relax or to walk the wonderful Borrowdale area.

A mixed review from us, the location is absolutely beautiful and can't be faulted. When checking in we were asked if we'd like evening dinner which we said we would however there was no room in the bar to eat with the dog so he would have to stay in the room. After a long day walking we where happy to leave him in the room while we ate. We understand not all restaurants or guests in restaurants want dogs there. We where given the menu at reception and told to choose what we wanted. I've never had this before and it felt a bit rushed then we was told there was one sitting at 19.30. The strangest experience I've never been to a hotel restaurant like this before, we tend to eat earlier than this as we wanted an early night ready for an early morning. The room was the positive experience. Clean and comfortable beautiful bathrooms and nice hot shower. We paid £15 for the dog to stay and we got a towel, bed and bowl in the room which is a nice touch. When going for the evening meal we where swiftly seated however we had only ordered a main course so we had to wait for everyone else to finish their starter before we were served a meal. Not the relaxed birthday evening I had wanted. The dog was allowed in the snug type area which was lovely comfortable chairs nice log fire. This area you can buy lunch and bar snacks but you can't eat your evening meal in here.
After a restful night we went for breakfast with dog in tow however wasn't warmly welcomed because we should of booked a table in the bar and although there were no guests seated the tables were reserved for the full breakfast time which meant dog was again not welcomed. We asked if we could eat in the snug area where you could eat lunch but was told no. The waitress was kind and polite but her senior who she asked for assistance was rude and cold and this is where it was obvious dogs are tolerated but this is no way a friendly place for dogs. She said leave the dog in the room, the reason we don't leave the dog in the room is when he hears other doors open he barks because he thinks someone is coming in his space. When we checked out it was extremely windy so we where diverted to another door through a room with tables and chairs that wasn't being used and it just didn't make sense that we had been made to feel so unwelcome with a very well behaved dog when there was plenty of room away from others. We have been to other hotels that are "dog friendly" where we have been allowed to take the dog in the restaurant and even given a bed for dog to lie on while we ate. Dog biscuits on the bar and at reception. Glaramara is a lovely hotel just one that doesn't welcome our four legged family members warmly.

A fantastic hotel for exploring the area. The staff are excellent with nothing too much trouble. The food in the evening was great, with lots of options to choose from and breakfast sets you up for the day ahead. The bedroom was modern and comfortable with the communal bar area large and spacious. Will definitely be back in the future.

We walked down to Seatoller from Manesty and chanced upon the Glaramara Hotel. |Warm welcome from reception and bar staff, really comfortable stylish interior. |Our coffees and shortbread were really nice!|Lounge area was busy with residents, most of whom appeared to be happy regulars.|We enjoyed our short visit and imagine this would be a lovely place to stay.

Wonderful refurnished hotel, the downstairs rooms are small and don't have a view, so splash out for a room with view. The location is brilliant - restaurant serves very good food but is the only room that lacks atmosphere the bar and lounge area are lovely as is the staff

If I could have rated 6 star I would have rated 6 star. Nothing but the best at Glaramara. From the superb service to the beautiful room, not to mention the incredible food and location. The food portions were ample and delicious. Both evening meal and cooked English breakfast buffet. .
