Glass Outhouse Art Gallery

This place is amazing. There really is an outhouse made of glass. I don't know if people actually use it, but you CAN see inside lol. There was a tiny little church that I was able to go inside. It was adorable.

Best art museum for kids. We went with 5 yr olds and they loved it, they had total fun. The art pieces are creative and funny too.

Amazing Play definitely worth visiting. I was just blown away. It really is worth taking a look after a hike.

We unknowingly arrived on the last day before they close for the summer and it was great stop. There's a lot of sculptures in the front with a nicely decorated pathway to walk around and take pictures before reaching the gallery area in the back. Quisha offered us refreshments and let us use the restroom before checking out the galleries too. Love how this place supports local artists from all kinds of backgrounds, even young aspiring ones too! Definitely recommend coming out to support and check what they have when they're open

What a unique and quirky place! I can't believe I never knew about it until recently. The art galleries are great and the fact that they feature new artists monthly is awesome! Laurel Siedel, the founder, unfortunately passed away last year. One of the galleries touchingly remembers her. The gallery is run by Keisha. She is such a sweetheart and genuinely nice person. I highly recommend visiting whenever you happen to be in the area. I know I'll be back!!

I drove past this gallery on my way to the Mojave preserve, the outdoor installations caught my eyes. Ended up stopping by on my way back, and they had this lovely indoor gallery with pieces from mostly local artists (avail for purchase). The kaleidoscope “selfie setup” was super cute. The glass outhouse was the other attraction, and there’s a good a couple of miles worth of trail to enjoy the outdoor installations. If you’re in the vicinity definitely don’t miss this place!

What a Awesome place to stumble across as we were on our way to hike the Amboy Crater. Immediately asked the hubby to stop ! Oh no it's not in my itinerary. When in Desert timing is of thee essence. So let's get started. Once I jumped outta my truck I went seeking some sort of life it was shy of 10 am. This lovely woman comes out says Laurel will be right out and they open at 10 am !!! She gave permission to see the front exterior so I could photograph. This off the beaten path place Twenty Nine Palms, a few miles from the entrance to Joshua National Tree Park. As a lonely spot in the desert, thus unique gallery not only draws Artists, Art Collectors front all over the Country. When the Glass Outhouse first opened, about a hundred people showed up, but none of them would use the outhouse - they all had their picture taken in it but wouldn't use it. Only one little kid was brave enough to use it. But now everybody uses it. As I did lol. On a cloudy day, it's beautiful to be in there. It's an experience you'll never have - sitting on the throne with a 360-degree view of the sky. So that's how it came about. One of the artists whose work is in The Glass Outhouse Gallery shared some of her thoughts about showing it here. "Laurel's desire to have a gallery that provides artists 'a place' to hang is not just that; her attitude is responsible for creating an environment that is warm, open, and assisting. There was this little Chapel I was so drawn towards , so breathtaking. I seen the plaque in the Chapel after I sat and said a prayer. Laurel's husband built that Chapel and finished it 2 weeks prior to his death. BTW Laurel offers free drinks for visitors sit or stand she's a very interesting woman. We sat and spoke , heard stories of her day as a bus driver and how the children teenagers go to Amboy and light fires. Times vary here you can look on fb on updated hours.

A very small but enjoyable outdoor art display on private property. They allow you to park on site and walk around the exhibit in front and in the rear. There also is an art gallery in the building behind the front house. It's really great that people are allowed to come see it for free and I definitely recommend it if you are a fan of quirky, roadside attractions or outdoor art displays. There are a lot of unique pieces, and there is great humor throughout all of them. The artist is definitely very creative and many of the pieces made us laugh which helped it to be a good experience.

This place is worth the trip. Great art displays and best of all the people are really friendly. Take a walk around and buy one of their great pieces of art. Best outdoor Art Gallery around. It's a great adventure and it's free to go and look. Can't get a better value than that! You won't be sorry!

This gem of Galleries on the unusually creative grounds of the property is a must see ! There are approx. 8 fine art gallery rooms and a gift shop. It's very dog friendly and the animals just love it. They have a 1st Saturday art walk every month except July & August. I try to make it every month to see the variety of different artists that are switched out every month along with musicians that entertain the crowd.

Glad we stopped here! Cool and interesting stroll through miniature eclectic scenes. Also, don't miss the 2 art gallery buildings and the gift shop with a fun kaleidescope. Super nice and welcoming folks, music, and floating bubbles fill this place :)

So you're looking for something different, then check out this outdoor art gallery in Twentynine Palms! The owner, Laurel, is super friendly and will answer any questions you have. If you're thirsty, there's a fridge full of free drinks (soda and water)! The main draw for me was the glass outdoor outhouses! There are two of them that have fully functional toilets! You can see out while you're doing your thing and no one can see in....well, depending on the lighting, you can kinda see in. LOL! The property is full of random objects on the grounds. You can wander to your hearts content. You'll notice the circles along the fence, and they are available for artists to buy so that they can paint their art. Dual purpose.. artists have a "canvas" and the owner gets to look at art instead of the wire fence! If you're an artist and would like to have a gallery to show your art, the owner does not charge a fee or take any commissions. You have to get on the waiting list. Great way for an artist to get a break! All the owner requires is that you do your own advertising and provide your own refreshments. There is also a small chapel where you can actually get married! Super cute inside! There are like four pew-like chairs inside for your guests! The owner can also officiate the ceremony if you want. Definitely worth checking out! The gallery itself is closed during the warm months (duh)! The outdoor portion, however, is open all the time.

This place is so amazing! Didnt get a chance to see everything but we WILL return! The owner is super nice and the kaleidoscope was super fun! If you are in 29 palms , joshua tree or wonervalley I would definitely stop by here and the end of the world art installation

A perfect tourist trap in the desert. Eye-catching as you drive up to it and fun to wander through the galleries. And, of course, there are the two glass outhouses with one way mirrors, perfect to go potty on and look out on creation. If driving past or in the area you have to check it out for all the strange photos you can post on your social media. There's quite a lot to look around, so give yourself an hour to scope out the place.

I stopped here to scope the place out again today, and I ended up getting quite the treat. I got to meet the owner of the place, Laurel, and had a really nice conversation with her. The gallery had been closed for a few m I months for a big remodel with 5 brand new showrooms for display. It will be reopening September 11th. There will be live music and refreshments from 5 to 9 pm. The gallery is opened from 1 to 5 every day except Monday. They also do my live music with refreshments ND change the artist exhibits the 1st Saturday of every month except September and it is the second Saturday then. November to Marrch it is from 1pm to 5pm. April to October it is 5pm to 9pm due to the summer heat. They survive solely on donations so if you are visiting be sure to leave some cash to keep them up and running.

Interesting art something you would want to do if you like art in the middle of the dessert. First time coming to Twentynine palms

Such a cute and unique place! I love local art and welcomeness places like this have. Thanks to the owners and artists who provide entertainment. If you go here there's a cash drop box in the chapel for donations.

This place is magical! There is so much love and creativity - you've got to check it out. Also, there ARE working glass outhouses with proper plumbing that you can use, walls are one way mirrors (can't see in but can see out) and it's a must have experience, in the beautiful desert among art.

We have been wanting to check this out for a while, and we finally stopped on the last day before they close for the summer (they will open the day after Labor Day). Fun little spot. The art gallery is quite large and a nice walk around the property with many displays of art installations. There's also a curbside small chapel, some fun displays for children and even the namesake - a glass outhouse with a panoramic view of the desert with one-way mirror glass. You can see out, but no one can see in... A must check out for roadside attractions!

I love visiting small local spots that are unique to the area when on vacation. The Glass Outhouse Art Gallery is exactly that; very unique and special. If you are visiting Joshua Tree using the north entrance then stop by for an hour. The owners of the property turned their land into an art exhibit using what appears to be old discarded stuff. From old shoes, toys, mirrors, to gym equipment you will see it here as an exhibit. Definitely take the time to walk using the carefully laid out paths to see each unique exhibit. There is also a very small chapel and a grave sight. A building housing local art is located in the back of the property along with a small snack area. If you need to relieve yourself then look for the Glass Outhouse. You can have a moment for yourself as you view the stunning desert with total privacy. The owners are very polite and I had a great time talking to them learning about the history of their place. Leave a donation as there is no admission fee to view this very special place.

It is an Artistic dream! The creators are artist's and have shared this with us for 10 years this September! Come join the opening the weekend after Labor Day 2019! Laurel and Frank want this place to be open with no charge to the Artist's and new and old are accepted on a first come , first basis to show their art! Becky Gabbs

This was definitely one of the reasons I took a trip to Palm Springs. I have been reading about this wonderful little Gallery in the middle of nowhere. But what really peaked my interest was this working Glass Outhouse. This location did not disappoint upon my arrival I was greeted by the owner a wonderful wonderful lady. She told me the story of how she was an artist when she was younger and she couldn't get a start because you couldn't put your artwork in a gallery unless you were already in a gallery. So she decided to turn her rabbit Coupe into an art gallery. She wanted to have a place to display art for new artists. The gallery's top notch the artists that are displayed are amazing. They switch out the artist every 8 weeks or so. They closed down in July and open back up in September due to the Heat. On the first Saturday of every month they have live music with different artist display some new art. Grounds are full of art exhibits and Pathways leading to all of the art exhibits you could truly spend hours here. I was fortunate enough to see her new water tower that they painted like a fish tank super cool. Butt (hahaha) I got to say sitting down naked inside of a glass outhouse doing your business just looking out over the desert and no one can see in is pretty cool. they even have a fridge with cold beverages. Give this place a shot if you're passing through 29 Palms definitely worth the stop.

I loved visiting the Glass Outhouse! They provide space to artists at no fee which is super awesome. They don't charge an admission fee but accept donations. The owner and employees are super sweet and welcoming. There's even a small chapel in which the owner allows couples to get married and will serve as a witness if you need one. A visit here really completed our Joshua Tree experience.

It's a bit far out, but worth the drive! Check it out for yourself, the pictures wouldn't do it justice :)
