"Housed inside a 19th-century farmhouse near Wyndham and Hunter mountains, this compound once stood as a marquee summer refuge for urban families during the halcyon days of the 1940’s, 50’s, and 60’s. After a tip-to-toe rehab by partners Jonathan Picco and Greg Brier, and studio Nocturnal Medicine, the property is primed for another run. What to expect: 43 clean-lined rooms and three Tentrr sites appointed with found objects and works by local artists, farm-fresh comfort food at the Trotwood restaurant overseen by executive chef Gaby Hakman, and 47 acres of waterfall-filled woodlands. Brier’s ties to the music industry—he owns the popular Brooklyn club Good Room—also means there’s plenty to do after dark when visiting DJs fuel dance parties at the on-site tavern. This winter, the hotel is partnering with independent book shop McNally Jackson to host après ski readings and creative workshops."

Dude Adam is absolutely the man. I recently came here with my partner to celebrate her birthday and to say the experience was special is quite the understatement. We were looking for a quiet weekend retreat filled with time to connect and a place to accommodate and Glen Falls House exceeded those expectations. At one point in the weekend I had pulled Adam aside to let him know it was my partners birthday and asked if they could do anything with the room to make it special. Adam immediately offered up his assistance and accommodated by not only chilling a bottle of champagne for our room but also handpicked flowers to make a romantic arrangement in our room for when we returned. I can’t recommend this place enough we had such a special time. Run, don’t walk!

Customer service is unprofessional. I have called and emailed multiple times on different days to modify my reservation but no response. Also, be aware GFH is doing renovations and some amenities are not available. Unfortunately, GFH disclosures this information after you make reservations and paid your deposit.

Loved the restaurant when I’ve been but I had booked a night for Valentine’s Day several weeks in advance. Morning of, they let me know the whole thing is suddenly cancelled..? Very confusing, and I can’t find anything about it online. Bad enough that they tanked our Valentine’s Day, but, hey, things happen. I assumed they had a good reason…but then they went silent and have yet to return my money or even acknowledge that any of this happened. I’m astonished, to say the least. My previous experiences were not like this, which is why the second star. I’m only posting this to get someone to freakin’ acknowledge me and give me my refund, already. Ridiculous.

Google
Their website is still accepting reservations and their IG has no announcement of their hotel room closure. We booked way in advance for Valentines day and the day prior to traveling they emailed us that they had to cancel the reservation due to construction. I've been here multiple times and astonished no one knows how to program their website or simply post on their IG that reservations are closed.... We were able to get our deposit back, but it's virtually impossible to get in contact with them about future reservations or a update for their reopen. I'd hold off on reserving anything unless you're able to get in contact... This is a truly beautiful property, I just wish they would be more transparent with their customers on socials.

Our room was poorly lit and quite dull. Not cozy. The bed was abysmal. I could feel the springs and it really sagged under my normal weight. Service was adequate, but the restaurant was only open Thursday night - no breakfast. I was excited about the sauna but it was a joke. The door does not close and It does not get hot at all. Overall we made a good time of it, but for the price, I would not come back.

Can’t help but feel a bit cheated after my stay here. My husband and I decided to book two nights here a week after our wedding as a small honeymoon and we were quite disappointed with our stay. Our bed was on a slant which made for a very uncomfortable sleep. We both awoke incredibly sore. The shower had barely any hot water. Our first morning there, we went down to the sun room - esque space that has a wood burning stove to read and relax, or so we thought. The hotel management was also using this space as a work area with no respect to their guests. Multiple of the staff were on the same zoom call which was playing out loud for all to hear. I was shocked at the disrespect and lack of awareness to their guests. After that frustrating experience, we decided to head to the sauna. and well, the sauna was another disappointment. The door to the sauna, which is located outside, does not fully close so all the hot air was immediately escaping. It didn’t seem to matter how much water we put on the hot coals, the heat was not staying in the sauna. While the front desk was very kind and helpful, I’m so offended by the management that chose to have meetings in areas that are meant to be a relaxing space for the guests. Again, the lack of awareness was shocking.

Beautiful location! Nice outdoors activities! Very cute bar/restaurant with a cozy atmosphere. Very detailed inside and the outdoor area. I can’t wait to come back again! The staff were great and very friendly! Good for families!

I booked and within 24 hours had to cancel. They still charged me in full and I never received a response after messaging them 5+ times to refund. Don’t stay here. Terrible customer service.

Yelp
We stop by here almost every weekend we are up. We walk the trails and swim in the waterfall. Then after we are exhausted we have a drink and snack at the bar area. The pool is awesome. The staff is great as well. It's such a cool vibe. All are welcome. I'll see you there.

Yelp
Place is absolutely horrendous. Filthy and no one responds to and phone calls or emails. If you are looking for somewhere to stay in the area, look elsewhere. 0/10

Yelp
We love GFH!!! It has easily become our home away from home when craving a staycation in the Catskills. The property is beautiful, cozy, and offers endless opportunity for the perfect upstate escape. It is prime location for exploring nearby towns, but you may not want to leave! The staff always treats us so well, and the restaurant on premise is a plus. We will be back!

Yelp
We stayed here for 3 nights (Friday-Monday) we stayed in the main house (room 1, next to the provisions store) The room was fairly sized with a private bathroom. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The bath towels are soft and luxurious. They also provide pool towels. The grounds are stunning. Twinkle lights everywhere. The main house has a few picnic tables out front and a smaller fire in the evening. Across from the main house there are some lawn games (horseshoe, cornhole, and shuffleboard) The pool area has a retro vibe and is equipped with lounge chairs, tables, benches, and even pool floats. There is a large fire pit behind the restaurant. Between the pool and restaurant there is a tented outdoor dining area and an adorable camper bar. Due to COVID-19 restrictions the restaurant wasn't available for custom food orders but there was food available for purchase at the provisions store. Friday evening Pippy's Food Truck was on site. Saturday evening they offered a feast that included ziti, garlic bread, and a side salad. Sunday afternoon they offered a cookout option with various entree selections. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the hiking trails. Jack was at the front desk for most of our stay and she was very helpful. She gave us advice about our hike, the materials needed to start the bonfire, and she even took some photos for us. If you're looking to getaway from the everyday hustle and bustle to relax and recharge in the mountains you should definitely book your stay here. 10/10 would stay here again.

Yelp
Absolutely gorgeous place to relax and unplug. Loved the property + the owners make it feel like home. Perfectly appointed, low key, has a bar, and is serene. It transports you back in time. If you're looking to get away from it all, this is an ideal spot to do it.

Yelp
Many family members and I attended a wedding this past weekend at the Glen Falls House and stayed for a couple of nights. Although the wedding was wonderful and the hotel had good points for certain, my overall rating reflects the negative issues because I feel the need to comment on specifics which ought to be corrected. On check-in, there is a contract to sign, a few pages of "fine print," house rules or something along those lines. After the stress of traveling, people want their room key and do not wish to stand at the front desk inspecting these pages. I paid for 3 rooms, those of my adult sons and the one for myself and my husband. For a remote inn with cramped quarters and not much in the way of amenities, the stay was overpriced. And very soon after we departed the hotel, housekeeping must have gone into each room and reported which people had taken home the remainder of the hotel-provided toiletries in the brand-new bottles provided for guests, so I received emails stating I'd been charged an additional $170 (before tax) for 2 of the 3 rooms. Yes, a bottle of hand lotion was $58, shampoo was $38, conditioner was $42, and body wash was $32. When I phoned the hotel, I was informed there was some warning in the pages of "fine print"/house rules. Absolutely horrific, and a total scam in our estimation. Despite them providing us with new products, I was told that the hotel reuses them for other guests and we were not permitted to take our leftover toiletries. We were only allowed to use them while staying at the hotel; it didn't matter how much remained after we'd been using the products for a few days or how empty the bottles were already, they were charging us list price for full bottles. Meanwhile, we were in guest rooms that had loose doorknobs which were practically falling off, toilets that wouldn't flush properly, and beds with mattresses so squishy that I rolled toward the center, and the floors were slanted to the point that items on the nightstand slid. While some of the food served was tasty, some was completely unpalatable--undercooked fish and some vegetables that tasted of antiseptic and turned our stomachs. Naturally, I have no reason to return to the Glen Falls House since I only went for a wedding. Just want to alert others to how things are there and wish I'd been warned ahead of time so I would have known what to anticipate. Would have saved a few hundred dollars at least and not come home angered.

Yelp
For those looking for an upstate weekend, GFH was a perfect Covid escape. I went twice with the same group of friends this summer Trip 1 exceeded expectations! Me and 3 friends stayed in a room in the main house- totally comfortable fit for 4 and liked the coziness the interior had to offer. We didn't intend for much indoor activities during this time (restaurant was closed, only one party in the check in area at one time, etc - all the proper Covid regulations). We fully maximized our time at the pool by day, floating on all the various pool floats, listening to the DJ playing poolside, and drinking the day away (we brought some drinks with us and alternated between our BYO and the pool bar cocktails. We spent 1 evening at the hotels organized outdoor bbq, with live music and campfire. It was our friends bday so we brought our own bday cake and some bottles of wine with us to the enjoy after dinner and stayed out for hours! We met great people, and had a really enjoyable time. Trip 2 fell short a bit. We stayed in one of the cabins and it was definitely in need of renovations to match the quality, cleanliness, and design of the main house (was the same price so we opted of this option for privacy element). We arrived and all 4 towels had little hairs on them, and there was no TP in the bathroom. The air conditioner filter was black and we cleaned it ourselves before turning it on. In Covid times you want to feel like your room is extra clean, and we felt the opposite. The pool newly had signs that said "no outdoor food and drink" which was another bummer. The provisions store is really limited and overpriced, so we intentionally brought lots of pool drinks and snacks. We were going to skip the bbq this stay, as the previous time we thought the value wasn't there ($35 pp for 1 plate of assorted bbq) but we noticed a different menu and tried again - same undervalued feeling but again a good time meeting people throughout the night on the grounds. The location is remote which is great for some things, but a real complication for food - especially at breakfast. They really should put some kind of egg sandwiches or something of the sort in the provisions store so at least there is an option. Plan ahead for meals and making reservations in the surrounding areas so that you limit the time spent driving around trying to get food like we did. Mixed feelings about a 3rd stay, but we'll always remember how much of a blast we had during our first trip!

Yelp
My family spent the 4th of July weekend at Glen Falls House. We were looking for something close to Hudson and Catskill, and this place looked great online. We weren't disappointed. The campground has a very relaxed vibe. It provided space for introverts (50% of my family) and opportunities to interact with other guests for extroverts (the other half of my family). The pool had a DJ in a tent playing music. There's a poolside bar in a camper. The weekend of the 4th they had people grilling by the pool, so you could buy your drinks and dinner without having to put a shirt or shoes on. When you want something that does require shoes/shirts, the restaurant on the grounds was pretty good. Menu was limited (especially for picky eaters), but we had two good meals there. There's a fire pit behind the tavern where they provide s'mores every night. You just have to get your own stick. The room itself (2 queen beds in the Hill Side Motel) was basic but typical of what you'd expect at a campground. It did have AC which was the key to all of us getting along as well as we did. We're no fun at all when we're hot. They even have housekeeping service that comes by once a day. There are some trails at the edge of the property that are easy to hike and have some cool waterfalls where you can swim or just take pics for Instagram to show how outdoorsy you are. There's also a large flat field where my daughter and I played soccer. If we were closer than the seven hours it took us to get up 95, this place would be a regular weekend getaway.

Yelp
This was a bit out of my price range, but the amenities were great. They have a couple of falls to swim in on the grounds and you can ask the front desks for towels. They offer complimentary light breakfast with freshly baked muffins (fresh blueberry and strawberry) and good coffee. They have a lot of outdoor seating and a hammock. Every night there is a bonfire as well. They have food on site, but it is quite pricey for the quality and quantity. $35 for a plate of Mongolian beef, fried rice, and dumplings, which you can get at Panda Express for $15 and probably better. On Saturdays, they have a DJ and a pool party. It gets pretty busy and crowded in the afternoon because it's open to the public. You can't really socially distance. Even without COVID, it's not really my scene but I can see it being popular with young folks. The reason I am not giving this place 5 stars is because the water temperature in the shower would suddenly go cold at times. This place is basically for adults to go to summer camp.

Yelp
If you're looking for rustic upstate charm this is a nice place. If your expectations are fancy hotels, you won't like this place. The rooms are not terrific, the beds are kinda creaky and in the winter the heating leaves a lot to be desired. The outdoor activities are great in the summer. A good place to take a family or bring your extended family. They do fun things for kids on the weekends at night (outdoor barbecues, 3 legged races, and a bunch of other stuff.) There is a bar that gets full with lively action at night and all the guest go there. Lots of fun. There are nights with Bingo, karaoke, DJ's, etc. Overall a good place to take your family if you like the rustic upstate feel. Fresh air and plenty of country scenery everywhere.

Yelp
We booked for four days and stayed for three only because we had to. At the pricing we paid we received four walls, a window air conditioner, two chairs (one arm broken) a platter-sized table, bracket-mounted shelf tables you rolled into at night, a four ft wide bathroom with attached shower, a single sink at the foot of the bed with community shampoo soaps and conditioner you were told to leave there when you checked out or you would be charged, and a home-built standing coat rack. We worked out of our suitcase from the floor. Went to bed couldn't sleep and realized the slope of the floor was positioning us downhill so we had to strip the bed and switch ends to get some sleep. All three nights we slept with our heads at the foot of the bed. No TV no clock no refrig, no coffee setup, no amenities (water , anything) of any kind. If you wanted coffee, you went to an attached store outside and pumped it from a portable carafe and used the Gallon container of milk from a nearby frig. If you wanted cream: there wasn't any. It was definitely a room for a quarter the cost anywhere else in the country: bare bones. There was no change in linens or trash throughout the entire stay: three days. On the morning of our second day I found a man in a checked shirt who seemed to be in charge. He gave me an argument when I expressed our displeasure with the room, the service, the housekeeping and the value we were getting for our dollar. At my every statement I got back an excuse or an argument until I finally had to turn my back on him with a final "Just get me some fresh towels." I was angry and didn't need to be. Later came a knock on the door and a girl filled my arms with three towels a washcloth and a roll of toilet paper and left. Never came in. The staff is ubiquitous, seen everywhere at all hours : as if they lived there and this was their place. I asked for some ice (they had to go to the kitchen for it) and you thought I was asking for their blood. Hey! I get how its all upstate and a unique woodsy escape and all that...but there is a "city" attitude and a prevalent "whatever the market will bear" pricing structure that even extends to the bar where a glass of house merlot was 16.00 . My Son-in-laws can of beer: 16.00. No receipts. We were up there for a 3-day wedding. We originally booked for 4 days but there was no way that fourth day (My wife and I's anniversary coincidentally) would see us stay at the Glen Falls House. I asked for a receipt. "You'll get one by email" Glen Falls House is a bad act. Never again.

Yelp
Our stay at this establishment was a complete disappointment. I assumed incorrectly that the floors would be at least swiftered or damp mopped between guests, but this was not the case as was demonstrated by dust bunnies along the floor next to the walls and in the corners. There was black hair in the shower (I'm blonde) and there was only one hand towel, one washcloth and 3 bath towels. The floors had a serious slope which ment that the foot of the bed had to be raised on 3" blocks of wood to make it level and the matress was supported by a piece of plywood and two by fours. Guests are expected to make their beds since there is no housekeeping service and the bathroom is not cleaned daily. There is a restaurant for dinner but there is only one meal for $60 which includes one appetizer, one entree and dessert. If you don't like the one selection that is offered the nearest restaurant is a 20 minute drive away. For a cost of almost $400 a night I expected much more. There are other hotels in the area which will offer many more amenities for the same price. Take your money and make reservations at a hotel which will provide much better service and accommodations.

Mary S.

Yelp
A complete disappointment. Giving this hotel 1 star, but that is being generous. Stayed here on a Thursday night for $305/night and a Friday night for $365/night and then charged an extra $60 "resort" fee. With tax, bill came to just shy of $800 for a 2 night stay. For that price, I expected a decent hotel stay. Instead, this hotel is one of the worst I have ever stayed in. The room had 2 queen beds--one was hard as a rock and the other was soft and lumpy. The floor of the room had such a slant to it that our suitcase rolled the length of the room on its own. One of the beds had 2-3 inch shims under the feet to try to level it out. The room had no clock, no phone, no tv, no chest of drawers, no closet for clothes, no mirror, no iron, no luggage rack so open suitcase had to be left open on the floor, no trash can in the room. In the bathroom, there was no water glass so after brushing your teeth you had to slurp water with your hand. Only one hand towel was provided for 2 person room. No tissues in the bathroom. The shower floor was slimy and slippery with no grab bars provided. There was a long hair stuck to the shower wall and the top of the mirror had a thick layer of dust. Not the level of clean one would expect in the room or bathroom. A little hypocritical given the fact that upon checkin, we received a list of rules stating that occupants are expected to ensure "proper hygiene and cleanliness in Glen Falls House and in their individual units." During our 2 day stay, we made our own bed and no one entered the room to provide fresh towels or do simple housekeeping for the entire time we were there. No emptying of the single trashcan from the bathroom, no offer of fresh towels, no making of the bed. Nothing that is standard housekeeping for a hotel stay. Again, for the amount charged, one would expect the minimum service. And then to add insult to injury, they have the nerve to leave an envelope on the bedside table labeled "Gratuity"--for what??? I always leave gratuity in hotels for housekeeping services provided, but that the Glen Falls House, there are no housekeeping services provided. I would love to know what the $60 resort fee provides? It seems deceptive to list the price of the room as $300 and $365 and then see an additional charge of $60 for nothing. Was so dissatisfied that asked if we could change the reservation and just stay one night, but was told that if we were to leave, we would still be charged the full amount, so were basically forced to endure a 2 day disappointing stay. The desk clerk's comment was, "have fun." I had paid a 50% deposit upon making the reservation and charged the remainder of the bill upon CHECKIN, as opposed to check out, which is customary. Overall, an extremely unsatisfactory stay. Extremely overpriced, bare bones, shabby room with zero amenities. Don't waste your time or money.

Emma S.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, especially during the winter months! Extremely cozy. The food was very good and fresh. I order the fish, which was to die for. We also ordered the short rib, which was meh. Way too pricey for the taste. I've had much better for less. The dessert was SOOO GOOD and the service was great! Overall, a great cozy date night spot, if you're looking for something a bit more on the pricey side that still has a low key vibe. Board games and a wood burning stove make for a perfect night to go along with yummy dishes and refreshing drinks!

Yelp
What a joke. Waiting days for email responses, unanswered voicemails. But when I messaged them that I wanted to give payment info, I received an immediate phone call. Owners ran a go fund me for their employees, but none of the employees I spoke to knew anything about it
google avatar

Darrell S.

Yelp
If your looking for a peaceful weekend escape to unplug and enjoy company by the wood burning stove, this is the place to come. The restaurant is tastefully done and the food is excellent. I would say it's a marriage of Farm House Chic meets the Catskills. The hiking trails are right outside your door with beautiful waterfalls to enjoy.

Yelp
Was looking for a cool & affordable place to stay in the Catskills and stumbled upon Glen Falls House. Booked it because the price was right. The property has recently been refurbished but the new owners have kept the Inn's old charm. Expect rooms to be clean, simply furnished with good taste. Everything was pretty basic: no TV, no hair dryer, updated original shower, wall mounted heater... but we loved how that gave vintage character to the rooms. We dining and had breakfast at the restaurant onsite and enjoyed our meals. Hotel staff was absolutely lovely. Bonus points for the tavern on site. We unfortunately did not have time to walk on the many trails on the property, just a good reason to go back!

Yelp
This place is the best ever. Great rooms, cool dogs, cool people, cool waterfalls, great dive bar, nice shampoo. Etc. Etc.
google avatar

Lily T.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place based on the reviews. but this place was a disappointment. First of all, the rooms are really old and small and the amenities are terrible. No hair dryer in the room (really?!), no phone, no wifi, not enough towels, AND ONLY HALF a roll of toilet paper. And on top, the sheets smells funky and the beds are hard and uncomfortable and the beds creak. And the heater in the room doesn't work very well, and we were freezing our butts off. There was a portable heater that we tried to move closer to the beds, but as soon as we plug in the heater, the whole outlet goes out. The bathroom was uncomfortably small and the sink was outside the bathroom. Let's talk about food, the food here is not great. it's just ok. The best meal we had was probably the breakfast, which consists of eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausages, but who can messed that up really? The dinning room is brightly lit, tables close to each other, and no music in the background. Felt like we were in a cafeteria if you ask me. it felt uncomfortable eating there. The bar across the street was just ok, cheap drinks and cheap appetizers and free peanuts. Nothing spectacular. I came here expecting a romantic get away, this place was far from romantic. Don't think I would recommend this place

Yelp
This place was amazing! My review is a bit delayed but I visited about a month ago and had the most wonderful time. The room was great! I loved the little store near the front desk for small food items. Also, the bonfire that the hotel has on one of the nights was magical. The staff was so helpful and gave us directions to some amazing trails near the hotel. I highly recommend this place! I would love to go back and visit again

Yelp
We stayed at this place for two days for our wedding. The grounds and the outdoors is space is beautiful but we had some bad experience that I wanted to share. I requested a price to reserve a table for our 5 guests, me and my husband. They said they weren't serving any food but we could bring our own food from caterers and the bar would be open. I explained that we won't be drinking a lot (giving them the opportunity to charge us accordingly for using their restaurant space and things like plates, silverware etc.) The deal was we would have full service (without food) and they said they would charge us $250. I thought that was a fair deal. They did help us with stuff like receiving the food from the caterers and setting them up on a table, keeping the cake we ordered in the fridge etc. We had a ceremony on their property for about 20 mins. We did not need any help from the employees for the ceremony. We did not decorate any outdoor space and did not litter. 3 of our guests and my husband and I stayed on the property. Which means we all had access to the grounds just like any other guests. I would like to think we did not cause any disruption to their other guests staying at the property that day given that they had a property of 50 acres and we were outside for just the ceremony and took some pictures after. Even though the wedding went well, the next while my husband and I were eating breakfast and getting ready to check out, we heard one of the owners John talking on the phone that he was not informed at all about the wedding on the property and that we had lied about where the ceremony would take place and that we brought our own food and that we did order any drinks. We were completely flabbergasted by the conversation we heard (we were sitting near the kitchen and he was not particularly quiet, we were not trying to eavesdrop on a private conversation) I called several times to ask if they had any recommendations for a ceremony spot for the wedding and if there was cell coverage in the area to livestream our ceremony. I even called to ask if I needed to bring anything like plates, silver water etc. He complained that we did not order food - they were NOT serving food, I am not sure how he thought we could order food when they didn't have any and when the restaurant was closed. When we spoke to John and asked about what happened and why he felt deceived by us, he explained that Jack who works at the front desk completely misinformed the owners about our plans. She was also working at the front desk the day before our wedding. She was a complete nightmare to deal with. She yelled at my guests for asking details about late check-in, called our caterers kooky(her words!) , my partner and I were very tired of dealing with her attitude the day before the wedding. On top of all of this, one of our guests found a pill bottle on the bed(which made me think if they were changing sheets during Covid times!!) John was apologetic that we had to hear him talk about us but it does not make it right. They did not charge us for the $250 after we had the conversation. We just left a big tip and got out of there as fast as we could. It was an emotional day for me as my family could not attend the wedding with all the travel restrictions. John and Jack just made my experience completely miserable. It's such a shame because it was a beautiful property and we had hoped to come back and have a bigger reception next year and come back during our anniversaries. Needless to say none of that will be happening as long as the current owners are running the place. My suggestion if you are visiting this place is, expect a rustic location. The grounds are beautiful if you are looking for a quick getaway. But if you are having a bigger event like weddings, stay far away from this place and look for another location in Catskills. There are plenty in the area.

Kade H.

Yelp
Overall, this spot is a nice and very secluded get-away from the city. The main house is cute and the staff are welcoming, as is the owner who was present during our stay. The room was simple and had a camp vibe - what we expected for the price, but some simple Ikea upgrades could really take it to the next level. The mattress, however, needed to be completely replaced. I haven't slept so poorly or woken up with an aching lower back that badly in my life!! The restaurant was nice, the food was simple but good, and they do have a nice list of local beers to choose from. The waiter was nice and provided some recommendations. The space was warm and welcoming, tables were well spaced for distancing and we felt they had taken Covid precautions well. The bar was pretty full but most were wearing masks, or knew one another. Now for the reason I felt compelled to write this review, and you can take your own view. After dinner we made our way to our room for the night, but needed something from the bar so made my way back down to the dining room. While waiting off to the side of the bar for the bartender I overheard a loud conversation from a few patrons at the bar which consisted of this - "Oh Debbie, yeah she's a f*cking a lesbian! I just want to bend her over an shove my d*ck in her ass. No really, I'd show her. Give it to her hard." In my shock and horror I felt paralyzed in what to do - being someone who is part of the LGBTQ community - I was angered and also felt extremely unsafe. Not only had this man just described sexually assaulting someone they knew but also committing a hate crime. Looking out of the corner of my eye I saw the owner sitting among this group, and to my disappointment he did not discourage or condemn this behavior. No one in the group did. I picked up what I needed and then proceeded back to my room as quickly as possible. We didn't spend much time at the Inn that weekend, instead deciding to head into Hudson for as long as possible. The downfall of this establishment will be the company they keep and the disgusting behavior they allow, especially from the locals that seem to frequent the bar. Reading the 'Our Story' page before going to Glen Falls, I was excited reading it was described as a place that welcomes a "community of artists". However, that couldn't be as far from the truth in what I experienced. As artists we are an open, welcoming, and accepting community, and unfortunately that is not what my experience was of Glen Falls House. For my and my partners safety (both physically and mentally), we will not return to Glen Falls House, and will not recommend to anyone that we know. We hope that others do not, and have not, experienced the terrifying hatred what we did and that the owner seriously cleans up the company they keep and the conversations of those who they do. It matters.

Yelp
Took a last minute trip up to the Catskills on NYE and stayed at the Glen Falls House. Stayed in the main house and it was perfect. The rooms are clean and minimal, no-frills. Exactly what we want being out in the middle of the woods. The restaurant had a prefixed New Years dinner with live music, the food was great and breakfast the next day was delicious. Spent some time hiking the trails behind the resort and Icebox falls is awesome. Also it's just a 25 minute drive from Hunter Mountain. Can't wait to come back in the warmer months

Yelp
My best friend had a big birthday party here. A few friends rented cabins. We had such a fun time, the staff couldn't and owner couldn't have been nice and more accommodating.' The poolside DJ was so much fun, karaoke in the tavern at night and we took to the trails in the afternoon. The restaurant is also wonderful as is the bar with awesome cocktails. I highly recommend for a weekend getaway in the Catskills. Janet

Yelp
I visited the Glen Falls House on a bit of a whim when a family member couldn't use a Living Social voucher that they had bought. As such, the price I paid for a two person, two weeknight stay was lower than their standard pricing. The facilities were essentially what I expected. This is a "resort" that caters to families, particularly large family groups (reunions, etc). Our room was on the upper floor, and it was bright and large with two bed and included a window AC. We didn't spend much time up there, so we never turned on the TV. Without a decent Sprint signal, the lack of a phone in the room was frustrating, although the owner later mentioned we could use the house phone if needed. All meals are included, but choices are given only at breakfast. Lunch and dinner pretty much "you get what we're serving" type meals. All meals are served at a specific time, and guests have assigned tables/servers that don't change during their stay. The food is good if you're into "comfort food". Otherwise, you're a little out of luck. The tavern, which is across the street from the main house serves a small assortment of bar food, but it comes from the kitchen, and isn't available when they're prepping/cooking meals. They also only accept cash. The staff here was friendly and accommodating. The owner went out of her way to meet our needs, and our server was friendly and accommodating to the best of her ability. The location was lovely with trail rides and kayaking available nearby. There was an outdoor pool and an assortment of relaxed activities on site (shuffleboard, bocce, etc) and there were events each night (although they should consider skipping Bingo and Movie Nights in favor of a nightly campfire...it was fun to meet some of the other guests). The thing I liked best about this stay was the pace. There weren't a million sights to see in the area or events to rush too. We did something off the property after lunch each day, but otherwise, we just hung around and relaxed. I think one of the most enjoyable parts was laying in the grass under a tree with a book while waiting for lunch. If this place had a phone in the guest rooms and room service (for my traditional "11PM piece of hotel cake"), I'd have said it was perfect for a budget vacation.

Yelp
Not just good for families, GREAT for families! Clean, comfortable rooms, great food and service, pool, beautiful waterfalls and streams right on the property. We were passing through, happened to find this place, and will definitely be back.

Yelp
This place was exactly what I was expecting. I booked a stay using a groupon that I had purchased a while back that included a two night stay, a 30 minute horseback riding session, and all meals while we were there. The front desk (I believe the owner) was super friendly and helpful with the few questions we had. She gave us our vouchers for horseback riding and suggested we make reservations, which we did. We ended up upgrading to an hour for only $20 more for two people. Totally worth it. The food here is so so. It's mostly comfort food with no vegetables aside from the small side salad that is offered. It would be great if they could include grilled or even fresh vegetables to help digest all the really heavy food. Our waitress was lacking, she never refilled coffee, walked away before we could ask for anything, wasn't particularly friendly. The room we stayed in was small, but who wants to stay in a room all day when there are hiking trails, a pool, horseback riding, and the great outdoors all less than 30 minutes away? For what we were expecting, we had an awesome time. The guests and the majority of the staff were great. The bonfire on Sunday was so much fun, we were able to socialize with the other people there for the weekend. The tavern is quiet and SUPER cheap ($2 Sam Summer on tap? I'll take it!!). All in all the place was great for what I was expecting and for what we paid for it, it's charming and quaint. If you're looking for a resort, this probably isn't the place for you. If you're looking for a quiet few nights away from the city, it's perfect.

Yelp
Loved our stay at Glen Falls House. The rooms were clean and the bed really comfortable. We dined at the restaurant and had a great dinner one night and breakfast the next day which was also really delicious. The hiking to the waterfalls on the property was magical. The best part was they allow small dogs and our dog had just as much fun as the humans. Can not wait till we get to go again.

Yelp
Such a great time. My girlfriend and I came here on a whim because of a Living Social deal that included a weekend-long murder mystery game. The accommodations were exactly what we were hoping for...very clean and comfortable, but not super luxurious...when I'm out in the wilderness, I don't need the place to be a ritz calton. The family-style meals were quite good, the activities at the tavern right across the street were fun, and the mystery game was really fun. This place does a great job at connecting you with fellow hotel dwellers. Also, there's a biergarten at the next resort over than you can get great german food and beers at. Suggestions to fill out your weekend: Kaaterskill Falls...a MUST. Great hiking for all experience levels and amazing natural beauty. HiWay Drive-In theater Have at least one weird night at the tavern. Get really drunk and do some karaoke. Do it.

Yelp
I cannot attest to the rooms, because I didn't stay there, but I DID get married here, and I tell everyone that this is a fantastic place to be wed!! Maria and Rich are unbelievably helpful and accommodating. We wanted to get married outside (end of September) and they mowed and trimmed the stair way up to the tennis courts (not sure if they are in use.) They showed us beautiful places to have pictures taken. Our reception was in the bar across from the main house, and it was clean, and they even helped us set up tables and decorations, including putting flowers by my table (we had no flowers or centerpieces). The food was AMAZING. They offered us rooms to get ready in and a room for us newlyweds, but we declined. Seriously, sweet and fantastic people and an overall wonderful experience.

Yelp
I stayed at Glen Falls House for one night but I would not stay there again. I feel as though I was ripped off, as the total cost (for two people) for one room ended up being about $245. The house feels very outdated and there was a spider in my bed! There was also a small hole in the door, I did not feel safe. To top it off, the bed was very uncomfortable and the air conditioner was very loud, making it difficult to sleep through the night. I could have found a much nicer place for a weekend in the Catskill (it was my first time visiting) for all that money! and better food...

Yelp
Very friendly owner. Beautiful location. Exciting future plans for the place. WATERFALLS! Very thin walls. Dated decor, but they are in the process of renovation. For now, come for the location and experience, not the accommodations.

Yelp
Food is great (especially mashed potatoes ) i love this place and i come here every year and get what im expecting the rooms are not sparkling but i dont spend alot of time there but i find it very pitiful how people dont like this place because they dont get good wifi or they dont know how to socialize but this place is great for having a family reunion once a year over a weekend btw when my family comes they fill up thr whole dining room

Yelp
I've been coming to GFH since I was born with my WHOLE family, mind you there's about 45 of us. The rooms are not dazzled and sparkling but they are comfy and cozy. Plus I'm barely in the room, I'm either at the bar/game room, the pool or I'm out on the trail. This place is meant to take you away from the noise and annoying things that deal with heavy city areas. If you don't enjoy the country or simple things like enjoying a game of volley ball with the family then this place isn't for you. But all I have to say is i have great memories here. Kid friendly but adults can enjoy themselves once the kids are put to sleep since the rooms are so close.

Yelp
Maria and Rich are wonderful and the location is killer! You feel like you are in the middle of nowhere, which is perfect for a romantic getaway, even though it wasn't that far from 87. Took us about an hour and a half to get home to Nanuet. We hiked the property and visited both the waterfalls. Ask Rich to take you up to the Ice House Falls - breath taking!! Listen for the dinner bell and head to the dining room for some of the best home cooking around. Every meal was more than enough to fill you up. All meals come with coffee, tea and ice tea. If you want soda or drinks you can bring your own. Lunch and dinner came with salad and bread. Alex's homemade salad dressing was delicious! And desert was always fabulous. Visit the tavern for a few drinks, some karaoke, and enjoy the local bands! The rooms are a little old, and as Jim pointed out the beds are creaky and the heating situation in the winter includes an electric radiator, but we stayed warm enough and there was a major snow storm going on! Overall, we couldn't ask for a better weekend and we will be definitely be back to Glen Falls House again.

Yelp
My family and I went here last summer and had a great time. Don't expect to be wowed by amenities and luxuries, but do expect some old-fashioned country mountain fun!!! Rooms were exactly as should be for a country woods destination, but what makes this so enjoyable is the care by the owners and their staff. They were more than helpful and fair in pricing our accommodations, and very informative on things to do in the area. My son has severe allergies, and I was simply overwhelmed at how helpful the owners and their chef were at easing my concerns and keeping my son fed. There is a set menu for meals, which were delicious home style comfort foods, but they always made sure to prepare something separate just for his needs as well. So, if you're looking for 5 star you won't be happy, but if you're looking for relaxing, country, family fun, then you'll be coming back every year.

Yelp
My boyfriend's family had been going to Glen Falls House since his childhood. I had heard countless stories of the many idyllic vacations they spent there so I was thrilled when the whole family agreed to vacation there again this past summer. I was not disappointed. It was everything he and his family told me it would be - beautiful scenery, fabulous (and plentiful) food, and very family friendly. In his mother's words "a TRUE vacation" and a very welcome and relaxing break from the daily grind. It's truly a perfect place to create memories that will last a lifetime. We had many children in our group ranging in age from 3-14 years old and they all had an absolutely remarkable time. They loved the freedom to roam the trails along the waterfalls, stop in the tavern for some sodas or Shirley Temples, splash in the pool or play on one of the numerous sports fields/facilities. And we parents loved the comfort of knowing they were safe and we could relax and enjoy ourselves as well. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. Even in the middle of July our room was always a comfortable temperature. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Glen Falls House as a family vacation destination. We are crossing our fingers that we can go back again this summer and this time I'm hoping my family joins us as well. After hearing my kids and I rave about it I know they're eager to check it out themselves and I know they'll love it as much as we do.

Yelp
Located and bought this deal on LivingSocial.com. The location is absolutely breathtaking. So much to do within an hours drive from the house. We stayed in the motel, which was old and grungy, but considering we only slept there and were gone for the entire day, I guess one could get used to it. Everyone who works there were so friendly, but lacked real knowledge as to the various sites that were available in this area. We grabbed a brochure, available at the front desk, and figured things out ourselves. The voucher included all three meals, which were delicious. Unfortunately, for kids who are not so adventurous as to try the prepared meals, they are stuck with chicken fingers for lunch and dinner nightly. Breakfast was a hit. There are many inclusive activities, such as swimming, tennis, basketball courts, ping-pong and volleyball. All materials are provided, which was so convenient. The only reason for not awarding a full five stars is that the place needs updating. I realize the house is supposed to be charming and have that feel when you enter, it could use new carpeting, be ventilated better and have an overall fresher feeling.
