"Beautiful Waterfall Definitely worth a visit when in Sligo. An easy drive down the N16 - it is a beautiful drive. The waterfall is an easy walk from the parking lot. There is also a hike up the mountain, but I didn't have time to check it out. If driving back to Sligo, try to go via 286 on the east side of Lough Gill, which is also pretty."

A truly beautiful site. Easy-to-walk trail (some stairs). The falls and stream are picturesque and calming. In the spring flowers on the grasses and trees were plentiful and fragrant. Worth the drive. As a bonus, the lambs below the parking lot were entertaining.

Very beautiful waterfall, there is plant of designated parking nearby with ice cream van, play area, lake view, sheep, tea house and the route to waterfall. This route is accessible for mobility users up to the waterfall. There is choice to climb stairs and come round to the tea house. Rest areas and toilet are nearby in parking.

Lovely quiet calm spot to visit. Family and I had a small picnic. We were fortunate with lovely weather for the day.

Glencar Waterfall is a stunning natural feature located in County Leitrim, Ireland. It is nestled in the picturesque Glencar Valley, near the village of Glencar, and is part of the Glencar Lake area. The waterfall is known for its beauty, especially during the wetter months, when it cascades down from a height of about 15 meters (49 feet) into a serene pool below. The area around the waterfall is lush and wooded, making it a great spot for nature walks and photography. The waterfall gained additional fame when it was mentioned in W.B. Yeats' poem The Stolen Child, adding to its cultural significance.

Beautiful location with a lake on one side, at the carpark, and then a small walk uphill through a canopy of trees to the gorgeous waterfall. Two pathways available to reach the waterfall, both have steps about 1/2 ways up but also stopping areas and seats on approach to sit and enjoy the sounds and views. Paved pathways in place but may become slippy with rain. Some light to moderate exertion required to reach the top and loop back around - not suitable for buggies etc. lovely cafe with information point, bathrooms, play area (outside), and small crafts at the entrance to the walk also. Parking is substantial but due to popularity it may require a little time to get a spot, but generally appears to have a steady turnover of spaces available. Lovely ice-cream van onsite in carpark also, (seasonal) - well worth a stop for a quick chat and nibble if inclined. Overall - a must see!

Gift shop, place to eat, coffee, and a view. Lovely short hike, beautiful scenery. Gorgeous views to get here. Met some lovely folks whom shared with us some history and weather's details.

Glencar Waterfall is one of those magical places that captures the heart the moment you arrive. Tucked away just off the main road, it’s an easy and rewarding stop for anyone exploring County Leitrim or nearby Sligo. The waterfall itself, though not huge in height (around 15 meters), is absolutely enchanting—especially after a bit of rain when the water really gushes over the mossy cliffside. The short walk from the car park is well-paved, peaceful, and takes you through a lovely wooded area with birdsong and the sound of rushing water guiding the way. What makes Glencar extra special is the tranquil setting: the surrounding lake, picnic areas, and a charming little café on-site. Everything is beautifully maintained, and it's very family-friendly, with toilets and easy access for strollers or those with limited mobility. If you have more time, explore the nearby trails and viewing points around Glencar Lough—the scenery is breathtaking and very typical of Ireland’s natural beauty. Best of all, entry is free, which makes it a perfect short stop or a relaxed afternoon outing. Highly recommend adding this to your Wild Atlantic Way itinerary—you won’t regret it!

Beautiful spot nestled in a valley. Short walk from the car park to see the waterfall. Can get some photos with sheep at the car park. There’s also a nice little playground for kids. Went on a weekday morning and were the only ones there.

Yelp
I'd thought, wrongly, that this waterfall was in county Sligo; nope, wrong again matey, the sign says it's inside county Leitrim and only just. It's a beautiful place and designed for walks and picnics. It has toilets and you can potter around the lake area to the coffee bar, but you'll need a fair level of fitness to go to the top of the waterfall as it's quite steep. The water is so clean with a peaty hue given Ireland has wonderful peat bogs - an incredible eco system of its own. Now it ain't the falls of Angel, it ain't Niagara nor Dunn's River; this waterfall reaches 50ft high and is situated at Glencar Lough, and it inspired perhaps Ireland's greatest poet William Butler Yeats who put it much better than me in his poem 'The Stolen Child' 'Where the wandering water gushes From the hills above Glen-Car, In pools among the rushes That scarce could bathe a star' Glad we went, once. Paradise Ireland style.

Yelp
It amused me no end when upon crossing the Sligo-Leitrim county boarder there were Visit Leitrim tourism signs all over the place. Most of the lake and the roads that bring you here are in Sligo, but Leitrim gets all the glory. I digress, ignore my mindless musings. The Glencar Waterfall is stunning, a must see for every one visiting the area. A short uphill but safe path brings you up and there it is. The photo here doesn't do it justice. A handy thing about this attraction is they have cleverly put in a pathway that leads you back down to the car park partly another way. So you don't have two way traffic right by the waterfall. Good planning. As I mentioned there is a car park, but also toilets that are not bad at all. There are also plenty of rubbish bins for different types of waste, so there is no excuse to drop your litter here. One final bonus on this occasion was the ice cream and coffee truck. Just what we needed. Wonderful. Definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
Nice waterfall in a great area. Easy access via the car park, toilets and while we were there an ice cream van. Its only going to take you 30 minutes to walk around but if you are in the area give it a look. The drive along the lough is also very pleasant.
