On the Grid : Glendale Narrows Riverwalk

"Glendale Narrows is one of the few places on the Los Angeles River that has an unpaved riverbed making it a wildlife refuge for all types of birds & animals in the mist of a concrete jungle. Sidenote: you may recognize Glendale Narrows from Mike Mill's film Beginners." - Sallie Harrison Design Studio

Flat, easy ride along the river, breezy and unexpectedly peaceful near the freeway. Birds swoop, art peeks around corners, and the path is smooth. Bridges and river chatter make it feel soothing and oddly scenic. Great for biking or walking without leaving LA

I am handicapped. I had to walk around under the freeway on the dirt path luckily I had my walking stick. The rest of walkway was paved and flat surface easy to walk on. Perfect for a stroll and watch the ducks on the water. I think I also got a picture of some Pelicans.

The 0.6-mile riverwalk is a short, well paved path between Riverside Dr and Flower St. You could continue east after Flower St but there is no outlet beyond that point. Great for walking, running, biking with a nice view of the LA river. The little park near Riverside Dr is also cute. The better version would be the bike path across the river, you can take it for 7 plus miles all the way to Lincoln/Cypress.

This is such a nice place to walk. We saw some horses right when we entered the walking path. They are not always there but on the weekends you have better luck at seeing them there. The path is easy to walk or bike ride. I was able to take my mother who is in a wheel chair. I was able to get her through the path easily. They have ducks and some wild life there. It's a good walk.

Beautifully walk, you wouldn’t believe how many ducks, geese and other birds live here.

Limited parking lot, plenty of room on the street. The walk is less than 1 mile long. Very few bicycles or foot traffic.

Nice short straight path to ride or walk. It's very short and kind of isolated connect to the rest of the LA River Walk and ride paths.

I love the glendale narrows river walk as it is right down the st from where I live. There is tons of wildlife and it makes you forget that you live in Los Angeles with its gorgeous scenery. I love taking a walk or a run with my girlfriend in the mornings all the way to the end of the trail and back. There is room for bicyclists as well to ride down along the L.A. River which its a true example of peace and tranquility to help your body wake up and revive.
