This place is located in a quiet neighborhood across on the other side of the rocks neighborhood and an easy walking distance over the bridge or by train. It’s a cute little neighborhood next to some restaurants and stores. My room was great. I had two decks from my room and the room itself was spacious with great AC ( a pet peeve of mine when the Ac is not good ) Staff was friendly. The breakfast was just OK, but it was commensurate with what you pay. It’s really a cute little old place and I think the only thing that turns people off are the shared bathrooms but they are private rooms on one area of the floor with multiple shower and toilet rooms. Also has a cool little backyard area for sitting outside. Just an overall great day

Excellent location, easy to walk to public transport options. We were in a budget family room which was a bit of a squeeze with our family of 4 (kids 9yo and 6yo) but fine for a place to rest. Playground is a bit old but backyard had good option to sit and relax. Shared toilets were no issue except for no bath mats. Breakfast was delicious. We will definitely stay here next time we are in Sydney.

I stayed here for 2 nights, amazing location and very clean, I was unsure about the shared showers but they are spotless! Rooms and beds are clean and comfortable. Breakfast is $15 entry buffet with bacon, eggs, pancakes, sausages etc - loved it. I would only not recommend if you are unable to climb stairs, as it is 3 stories with no elevator. That said I was on the third floor and I survived.

Excellent breakfast, lovely staff, and the rest of it was pretty dismal. However, there were options to use other showers/toilets when blocjed near our room , and spiders/ birds were removed promptly. Good prices as it is an old property about to close down.

Clean and comfortable rooms situated in stately grounds in a very attractive neighbourhood. The cooked buffet breakfast is sensational! Thank you Glenferrie Lodge! You are at the top of my favourite Sydney accommodation list!

This place has two great positives, the location and the breakfast. Don’t stay here if you can’t handle stairs. It’s very close to the ferry, about a five minute walk. The ferry goes every half hour to circular Quay on weekdays every hour on the weekends. The place, in general, seems quite grimy. It would be good if the desk held printed copies of the ferry timetable for the convenience of guests. The breakfast are very good with eggs, bacon sausages, baked beans all sorts of cereals muesli with berries and tinned peaches. Filtered water for your walking drinking bottles is available in the dining area. The staff are pleasant and handled difficult guests well.

Honestly I was a bit doubtful when I booked but I got a really good deal in a nice area - and it absolutely blew my expectations! It has super friendly staff, and I definitely think the cost for the location and what you're given is more than appropriate. Breakfast was lovely. Rooms are basic but it's just what you need to sleep - and I had the shared bathroom but no issues with that either. Always available and clean. Sanisha and Gia were absolutely amazing at guest experience! I couldn't have asked for a better service, honestly. They went above and beyond to help me out and a friend who also spent a night there. The area was also gorgeous to walk around. I am so happy with the say - great job!

This was a great find and we are definitely coming again. Nothing really fancy but nice quiet rooms. The shared bathrooms are really individual cubicles so you don’t actually share the space at any time. Everything was clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast is DEFINITELY worth getting as it’ll set you up for the day. Looking forward to staying again

Yelp
I found this quaint hotel on Hotels.com, but found out that it wasn't really a hotel, but a step up from a hostel. It surely had private guest rooms, but I was surprised to find out about the shared centralized bathrooms and showers. I probably should have read through the reviews, but I couldn't turn down this deal, due to the close proximity of the Bradley Park location. The property was basically 1 km from the start line of the 2018 Blackmores Sydney marathon and half marathon and decided to book this one - mainly due to that aspect. And so, I booked this hotel accommodation, not knowing well enough that this is like an upgraded hostel. The Glennferie Lodge is basically a two story private residence - or what looks like it in Kiribilli / North Sydney Australia. It's nice that it is nestled in the suburbs of North Sydney, away from the urban twang from the central business district across the bridge. The neighborhood that it sits on is a quiet area, which is always nice to be in. I booked two nights here at the Glennferrie Lodge and possibly had a good stay here, even though having to go to the restroom at 2:30am & 4:15am, and need to leave your room wasn't the highlights of my stay. Just needed to be said. Keep that in mind when you are looking for affordable accommodations here in the northern suburbs or even in the Sydney's central business district. For me, Glennferrie was affordable enough and logically sound. The overall experience here at the Glennferrie Lodge was ok and good at the same time, although the aforementioned shared bathrooms outside the individual units was a bit annoying. I guess that came with the territory when you acknowledge booking with them. They assigned me room 59, which was one of the rooms on the ground floor. As you can imagine, those shared bathrooms / showers were on the higher level. So, having to climb stairs at 2:30am for the restroom wasn't fun, but necessary. The Glennferrie Lodge is located at 12 Carabella Street in the Kiribilli / North Sydney Australia neighborhood. They accept major credit cards for payment, which is always a good thing for travelers and people who wish to stay local. Getting here is usually done through private car. They have parking spaces here for guests. Best bet is to utilize these spaces or other nearby residential streets, if possible. For me, I got here initially through walking from CBD area of Sydney via the Sydney harbor bridge, although taking Uber thereafter was way better. However you want to get here is fine. Sometimes, finding a nice place outside the CBD area for a relaxing weekend can do a lot of justice. The house itself was beautiful, however, when you walk through the level where the reception was - the floor squeaked pretty loudly. Hard to tip toe about when the floor does that. The room I got was nice. Since I was there for 2 nights, I slept on both beds, one on each night. Seemed the right thing to do really. They had me in a room with 2 single beds. The unit itself seemed albeit small, but it was large enough to be habitable and cozy. The ambiance of the room was nice and everything was working correctly. The WiFi was spotty during my stay or not working properly, so I just used my network data. The room itself was clean and seemed like a small apartment, but with 2 beds, instead of one. All in all, it was a good stay. The prices here were pretty good. I believe it was about AU $80-$100/night, which isn't bad at all. Just need to remember the thing about the shared bathrooms, showers, and you should be alright. The check in and out service was fine, friendly, and quick. The beds were pretty comfortable and I managed to get good amount of hours of sleep for the race and enough to get up early for the early flight out to Christchurch, NZ the Monday after. It's a cute place, if you don't mind the bathroom / situation. Consider coming to the Glennferrie Lodge, where it can be cost effective to be here. Although it's not a bad location from the CBD area of Sydney, best bet is to just get around with a rental car or even uber. Recommend if you are visiting Sydney and need a place that's budget friendly. 4.0 stars for the overall experience. 3.0 stars for the bathroom trips upstairs. 4.0 stars for the room and bed. comfort. Support local! B

Yelp
Quaint hotel but rooms are very tiny. Basically it's just a bed with a tv, safe and fridge. The bathrooms are shared (all the stalls have doors). I'd say it was a step above a hostel. Floors were a bit squeaky but my room was quiet. They have a good buffet breakfast and a nice garden area to relax. It's a short walk from the ferry which makes it easy to get to Sydney's business district. I enjoyed walking the neighborhoods and the ferry rides. If you're just looking for a secure place to throw your things down while you explore & enjoy Sydney, then this is good for the price. If you're looking for a room to stretch out and relax then this might not be right for you.

Yelp
The Glenferrie lodge is close to public transport in Milsons point. It's a nice place to go For short and long stays. When my other half and I checked in we were told those who booked with them on their site they'd be a complimentary buffet breakfast for us. We'd booked with trivago however he had given us the pass which was awesome. The food was nice they served tea, coffee, juices, cereal and hot food. The tea room has a TV and an outdoor seating area with a lovely garden. We got a deluxe double bed room and it was spacious. There's a TV, desk, lounge chair and two bedside tables next to us and a shared balcony. They'd also provided a guest book with info regarding the area; eateries, transport and emergencies such as nearest hospitals. Around the lodge you'll find canvases of the sydney harbour and well known sydney landmarks which was refreshing. The showers and bathrooms are shared and they're all unisex. All generous sized with everything you may need ie. Bins, soap, hair products etc.

Yelp
I had a great experience staying here. It's inexpensive and in one of the best neighborhoods in Sydney. Great for travelers on a budget. Free wifi (slow) and breakfast (filling and nourishing).

Yelp
This was an upgrade from Carnarvon Lodge...which we decided to run away from. Carnarvon Lodge was downright scary, and we left it cleaner than we found it. Carnarvon Lodge is described as a health hazard on TripAdvisor. Looking for budget accommodation, we found Glenferrie. "Budget" in Sydney was still over $150 a night for shared bathrooms, and this was in 2011. After a few nights here, I woke up with a huge cockroach crawling up my arm, and when I complained to the front desk about it, the response was "Did you leave a window open?" On the third floor? No apology, no nothing. The front desk guy made it seem like it was somehow my fault. Yes...I did leave a window open ON THE THIRD FLOOR, because there is no air conditioning in this place and the rooms get hot and muggy. Why don't they have screens on the windows? If you like to learn about local insects, and find massive huntsman spiders in the shower, this is the place to do that. Sometimes lorikeets will fly down and eat out of your hand, and you can see the bats flying at dusk around here. The building is very old and it is definitely a low budget place, even though the prices are not. When I stayed here the internet was not free, and you had to put money into a machine! It sounds like they now offer slow free internet.
