Glenisla Hotel

Great stay in a historic hotel. Quiet time of year which was perfect for us, staff very friendly and accommodating, making a particular effort to put our dog at ease. Scenic location with lots of good walks. Room was clean and warm. Well stocked breakfast pack in room with plenty of tea and coffee. Food in restaurant was fantastic! Thanks for a great stay!

It was our first time to Glenisla hotel and it did not disappoint. The hotel is at the heart of the community and it was lovely to see locals using the bar at the weekend and being to have a chat with them. The restaurant is warm and cozy exactly what you want after a walk up the Glen. It had a very friendly atmosphere and the staff make you feel like you are also a part of the community. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and well stocked. The chef is a hidden gem providing lovely meals to guests. We loved the breakfast cupboard in the morning providing every cereal Inman to the human race and toast in the morning with loads of spreads and catering to different dietary requirements. I would highly recommend staying here if you want to feel like one of the locals and be very comfortable. We will certainly be back. Perfect for couples looking for a quiet weekend away up one of Angus most beautiful outdoor spaces. Also ideal for families.

We spent a couple of nights in the hotel and were the only guests (it was winter and lots of snow around, so not much passing trade!). Notwithstanding this, the hotel people were really helpful, food was good and atmosphere (locals were in the bar) was great.|If you are planning to visit the hotel make sure you read and understand the breakfast/dinner arrangements. This is a small hotel and the arrangements reflect the low staffing levels. However, all the arrangements make sense and work very well

Had a great stay here whilst skiing over the weekend at glenshee. Would recommend to any skiers for a hand place to stay the night. Hosts were very accommodating and even dried our soaking wet gear for us ready for the next day. Food was good in the restaurant and service there was also very good.

Great find - we didn't book until 5pm on the day of our journey to Glenisla and even though we were the only people staying that night our booking was accepted and we arrived at 10pm in the pitch dark to find a warm, snug room and bathroom and plenty of self-service food and drink options. Lovely location as well.

We had a fantastic stay at Glenisla Hotel. This is our third stay and this time we had our Grandfurry staying with us. He was welcome throughout the hotel including the bar and restaurant. The room was exceptionally clean and very cosy and had lots of information sheets which was helpful. We were also forewarned about a live band that were playing in the bar area, we could hear them in our room but they were quite good and finished at a reasonable hour. We could see the stars through the skylight window which was lovely and made for a peaceful end to the night.

Relatively remote location, about 30 mins drive from Blairgowrie, in traditional coaching inn premises. Bedrooms, bathrooms and bar are modernised and comfortable. Bar has good selection of local products, including beers and gins. |Breakfast options are limited if you do not have a sweet tooth - I would have liked natural yoghurt, or unsweetened porridge, and a grater selection of fresh fruit. |Similarly, although the restaurant menu in the evening has well cooked dishes, especially the Cullen Skink soup, the range of dishes is very limited. Vegetarians are going to have very few options. |But I have stayed here before, and I will return again.

Sept-25 - Visited for food twice during our week stay in the area, having eaten here the previous year. Staff are friendly and helpful, the food is wonderful. For me, I really enjoyed the Cullen Skink and a perfectly cooked steak, although when accompanied by a steak sauce (the Whiskey Sauce is sublime!) would prefer a plate to a wood board. Hubby's pick of the meals were the Haggis Bonbons and Stalker Pie. Great choice of drinks to accompany too.

The restaurant and the hotel were wonderful. Very friendly staff :) We told them in advanced that we were vegan and they accommodate us by adding 6(!) menu options for dinner as well as a vegan breakfast. The room was modern, comfortable and very clean.
