The atmosphere is absolutely amazing. The room was spectacular. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The entire resort was extremely clean. We had an amazing experience with our Bar Tender/Server Doroti. She was amazing. She made us feel right at home and gave us exemplary service. We really felt like we got to know her while we were there. We will definitely be back!

The hotel is beautiful and the service was very kind, but just a note for future guests: wedding receptions here can run late into the night (until 2 a.m.) if there’s one hosted the weekend you are staying. We had chosen this property expecting a quieter experience than a city-center hotel, so the late-night music was noticeable depending on where your room is located or what direction it faces. Otherwise, it was a very nice stay.

We had two nights here on a package that included breakfast and one dinner in the Pullman restaurant that we were very much looking forward to. Unfortunately we were disappointed with several features of the hotel. Firstly, no gym, or pool or sauna. It rained constantly for the two days we were there and given the hotel is 5 kms from the city centre of Galway , there is little to do at the hotel itself. The 9 hole golf course was unplayable given the rain and no gym made any physical activity hard to find. |On our second night we dined in the Pullman restaurant, 7 course degustation, and after almost 2.5 hours only the first 3 courses had been served. After some protestations, we. Received the two mains concurrently, and the 3 desserts concurrently which diminished the whole experience. We were told the delays were because the first carriage of the restaurant was full which disappointed us further as we were made to feel second class. The redeeming feature were the staff looking after us. They were apologetic, professional and sincere which softened the disappointment of a slow, clunky and poor degustation event. On the other hand, breakfast is a triumph. The staff wonderful too, the cold and hot offerings amazing and the room beautiful. We have spent the last 4 weeks touring some amazing g lodges, Manors and castles in Ireland and were blown away but the staff wonderful too, comfort, opulence of every place we stayed until the Glenlo Abbey. I would certainly revisit Glenlo Abbey in the future as the hotel has some beautiful and classical features and the staff are amazing. I would just skip one of their signature restaurants, the Pullman.

We stayed for a couple days and enjoyed this hotel. Our room overlooked a shed, but was spacious. The shower had some issues but overall we were happy with the room. The hotel itself is fun and has little cubbies and hidden features. The theater is a fun and tucked away and they have it stocked with popcorn and fun movies (Casablanca happened to be playing when we popped in). The food was excellent. It is a little out of the way so you need a ride to Galway. Enjoyed it overall.

This hotel is absolutely amazing. The hotel and grounds are so beautiful with endless wandering and exploring available. The staff here is extremely friendly, professional, and well presented. The breakfast wait can get a little bit long, so recommend getting there early.

Google
This Abby establishment is truly exceptional, ranking among the most pleasant accommodations I have had the privilege of experiencing. The level of service provided by the staff surpasses mere kindness, as they consistently exceed expectations with their exceptional service. Furthermore, the design of the establishment is executed with great attention to detail.

Glenlo Abbey is an absolutely stunning property with incredible views and timeless charm. Every part of the hotel—from the elegant hallways to the beautiful dining room and cozy sitting areas—feels carefully designed and luxurious. Breakfast each morning was delicious, and we also enjoyed a great dinner at Palmers, the on-site restaurant. Having air conditioning was a welcome comfort, especially during warmer weather. Our room was spacious and well-equipped, though we were placed in an accessible room, which slightly affected the overall aesthetic for us. That said, it didn’t take away from the quality of the stay. Overall, Glenlo Abbey is a serene and beautiful escape just outside Galway—elegant, peaceful, and truly memorable. We’d gladly return!

Google
We didn't stay at Glenlo unfortunately, but it was a very beautiful hotel and gorgeous, lush grounds with very helpful and kind staff. We went there on a recommendation for the falconry experience which may or may not be for guests of the hotel only now. Jason was fantastic. We learned so much about Irish history and the history of falconry as well as how to train these beautiful birds to work with you. It is certainly an experience I will never forget.

Yelp
While traveling through Ireland recently, we stayed at many beautiful hotels. Of all of them, Glenlo Abbey was the most amazing. The hotel, situated on a golf course is just stunning. The interior, with the bar and restaurant, is spectacular. The service, from the bellman when you arrive, to the front desk, to the restaurant staff, was 5 star! Our room was large and very clean. Looking out the window, you see two train cars from the original Orient Express. If you're an Agatha Christie fan, like I am, what a treat! Our Irish breakfast was probably the best we had on our trip. You can order off the main menu, with a delicious buffet as well. Staying at Glenlo Abbey was absolutely one of the highlights of our trip!

Yelp
What an experience. We had a 3 Day 2 Night stay from the 19-21st of this month. Me and my wife didn't know what to expect. Upon arrival, you are met with a picturesque view of the grounds of the Glenlo. We drove up to the Check in area and were met up with Phillip. He said, leave your car and bags and worries here with me. What a great Bell man! We went up the stairs to meet up with the most pleasant front desk to get us checked in. Everything about this place gets better and better as you walk through the hotel. Our room was very spacious and had a stunning view of landscape.I really loved the restaurants, and just loved the way the Breakfast restaurant took you back in time. Don't miss out on that great freshly squeezed Orange juice they serve. The décor of this room and the rest of this Hotel is stunning. If I had one complaint, it will be coffee. I didn't find anywhere in Ireland, that had a really good tasting coffee. We took a walk in the late evening to find a magnificent Moon overlooking our area. There is so much to say about this place, but I will keep it short. I will definitely stay here again if I come back. Wish you all the best Glenlo Abbey

Yelp
This was my favorite hotel during my Ireland stay. The grounds are beautiful to wander and the actual hotel is gorgeous for pictures in every nook and cranny. The dining room for breakfast was impressive and had beautiful views of the grounds. The room was very comfortable and spacious. They have tons of activities to do- horse back riding, falconry, golf, fishing. I hope to come back here and just spend time on the grounds. We had dinner one night at their restaurant and had a wonderful time. They also have a small movie theater in the hotel with snacks and my husband and I had a fun surprise date night watching Sleepless in Seattle. Staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Highly recommend coming here.

Yelp
This hotel truly earns a 5-star rating. The staff is friendly, abundant and eager to assist. The rooms are so comfortable, views are lovely and food is delicious. The property is stunning and conveniently located to the shops/restaurants in Galway. One of the best properties I have stayed at. Must Go!

Yelp
We loved it here! The breakfast was amazing and so was the hotel itself. The staff were incredible, specifically the bellmen and the bartenders, all were hilarious and just incredibly happy people.

Yelp
We really enjoyed this resort. We stayed for three days. All of the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The grounds are very pretty and our deluxe king room was very comfortable. If this place built a fitness center, pool and had better spa selections, I'd give it five stars.

Yelp
I would highly recommend this hotel. Great location and exceptional accommodations for the area. The restaurants were great and the service was terrific. We did a short walk one morning around the golf course. It was beautiful. Stay here if you can. It's well worth it.

Yelp
It's undeniably a beautiful property and grounds. However, it fell short on a number of areas that are expected for a luxury hotel. The food is dreadful. The service is not up to the standard we are accustomed to in America. Room service menu is extremely limited and again the food is dreadful. I ordered scrambled eggs one morning in the restaurant and what arrived looked and tasted like left over cold egg salad from the tea sandwiches they serve for tea time. We stayed in Dublin at the Shelbourne and the breakfast there was so lovely, maybe one of the best I have ever had at any hotel so I know it's not an Ireland standard. The prized restaurants here are only open certain days of the week. For example, on Thursday night for dining my one and only option was the pub. In the states Thursday is one of the busiest evenings for dining out. On the day of checkout I went for lunch at the pub shortly after 11, no food service. Anywhere. On any day between 11-12 you can not get anything to eat anywhere on property. This is just not acceptable for the service model we have in the US. Especially for a luxury hotel you can get food 24 hours a day. I would expect also a hotel where you get so many international travelers that are on different time zones that food would be available anytime. This was the same for breakfast. You can not eat before 7 am. Actually I believe 730 am is when the restaurant opens I think for our work group they made an exception so we could leave by 745. On our 1st night we woke up at 4 am starving and had to wait to till 7 to be able to eat. I also went to the spa. It was ok. It's reasonably priced. 220 euro for a massage and facial. But I was very uncomfortable. The room was extremely hot. I was sweating and never offered an alternative temperature. I had terrible back pain because the masseuse never positioned a bolster under the back of my knees during my facial or when I was on my back for the massage which is standard practice in the states. She actually tried to place a rolled up towel directly under my low back which was worse. I was denied the facial I booked because I could not remove my cartier bracelet. Supposedly the electric current can electrocute me during the facial I would not recommend and would not stay here again. Like the other reviews say the walls are very thin which is expected for European countries. But what was not expected is they routinely open your doors without knocking for housekeeping, minibar etc. literally no knock. I'm sitting in my room and a just man opened the door.

Mason D.

Yelp
The customer service at this establishment couldn't be any more satisfactory. As we drove up we were greeted by a lovely man who grabbed our bags and spoke to me about my vacation. He was very interesting and wildly informative about the country. After our conversation we were guided to our rooms and they were quite pretty. We then went to the bar and were kindly greeted. The bartender was crafty and knowledgeable about the drinks. After a few drinks we played a round of golf. The course was satisfactory but I wouldn't say it was anything very special. In conclusion I would say this hotel was a easy 8.5/10.

Yelp
This place is pure elegance, from golf course, to restaurants, bar, pub, falconry, archery, fly fishing bad assness. Had the most relaxing stay my only regret was leaving! The staff is knowledgable, helpful and kind. You really feel welcome, and though that is the intent of hotels, rarely have I seen it so easily achieved. I felt like an old friend coming home, to praise and respect for this establishment!!! Thank you, Michael Precheur

Yelp
Galway's first 5 star hotel so don't believe some other hotels claim to be the first! I have stayed here mid week on business and is a really nice hotel. Older style ie wood everywhere but classy. Family run and Brian the manager is a really nice guy. Room are very well equipped as with any 5 star hotel. Have only had breakfast there but my god what a breakfast! One of the best I have ever had. Had lunch there once too and I would highly recommend the club sandwich. Grounds are very impressive which also include a golf course which seems to be regularly played with golfers on it every time I was there. There is an actual abbey also attached to the hotel, I suppose hence the name. Situated a few minutes drive outside the city so relaxation is on the cards but more hustle and bustle easily found in the city. Hotel has 2 dining restaurants, one inside the hotel "The River Room" restaurant (where the amazing breakfast is served) and the second is the "The Pullman" restaurant which is 2 original carriages from the orient express. Pretty cool!

Yelp
Wonderful place to stay. Beautiful grounds, friendly staff. Went during the holidays and it was decorated gorgeously.

Yelp
BEAUTIFUL! Loved every minute here. Grounds are unbelievable, as is service. Clean and cozy- we sat up by the piano at night and felt like it was the 1920s. Pullman Restaurant is a must- 5 star food and cool experience. No AC, but that wasn't an issue for us.

Tara B.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this hotel, but it fell short in too many areas. The service was almost non-existent. The walls between the rooms are extremely thin. My husband and I could fully understand the conversation of our neighbors. The bar is just okay too. The rooms are nice, but my husband and I kept waking up as you could hear everything. The best thing about this hotel is their train dining cart restaurant called the Pullman. My suggestion is to skip staying here, but come and dine at the Pullman.

Yelp
The Abbey: amazing rooms. The beds and pillows are top notch. We also had a nice couch and sitting area to enjoy. The staff goes out of their way to help you. Just dial 0 on your phone and they will help you with anything you need. The Abbey is a 15 minute drive from city center Galway. The breakfast is included and has a full spread of yogurt cheese meat bread baked goods cereal and fruit. They also have 7 hot breakfast options included as well. The coffee is delish. Golfing: there is a driving range with 8euros for 60 balls the club rental for nine holes was $20 and 9 holes of golf $30. They did not have a full left set but assembled a set of what he had for my fiancé at no charge. The course was well maintained and moderately challenging for an avid golfer.

Yelp
We had an amazing stay at Glenlo Abbey hotel this past week. Bernice at reception was beyond amazing! Jurgen, who does the falconry experience, was better than fantastic! If you stay at Glenlo Abbey it is a MUST! He is so knowledgeable, passionate, and makes the experience personal. It's so cool and fun! This is coming from someone who is a little scared of birds... it was awesome! We ate at the Oak Cellar Bar and ordered room service and they both were excellent. I'd definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who's looking for an upscale hotel. It's only about 15 minutes from Galway city center and taxis are available.

Yelp
Very nice and fancy hotel with an old hardwood theme feel inside and a cool castle exterior. Beautiful grounds and castle, with amazing breakfast. It is about a 10-15 drive into Galway which was also a cool little city to explore. I only wish I had stayed longer here.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel outside of gorgeous Galway. We stayed here for 3 nights and it made for an excellent place to call home during or stay in Ireland. The staff is so friendly, the rooms are nice and the beds are very comfortable. The amenities are top notch. It's definitely pricey but I felt that the ambiance and service made it well worth the premium. Definitely check out the Oak Bar downstairs - delicious food and the best Irish coffees I've ever had! The breakfast at Glenlo was also absolutely delicious. We would certainly return on our next visit to Galway.

Yelp
Had such a lovely time here today, weather was so sunny too. Lovely afternoon tea session beside a comforting fire all in a real big fancy room, while overlooking all that nice scenery outside. I know in comparison to some others it has a small golf course. But still, very beautiful golf and country hotel in its own way, honestly have to admit. Staff all seem pretty ok too so far, got to hand it to them.

Yelp
We had our wedding party at Glenlo Abbey on 24 May 2019. From our first meeting with Natalie we knew that's the place as were shown perfect professionalism, attention to details and personal approach in a very discrete and polite manner. Everything was perfectly organised and went very smoothly at the wedding taking place in three different suites/halls of the Abbey. From the very beginning till the end our guests and ourselves were made feel special. Everything was precisely considered and performed leaving our guests with memories of being part of something exceptional. Food was amazing and all the guests are massively impressed and happy, we're still receiving compliments. The reason for that is, in our opinion, not only the expertise the team has, but the personal approach they have to people. Personally we enjoyed most the relaxed and easy atmosphere, which is the most difficult part and it's all the team. Behind our smooth running party is their perfectly running team work. We had never expected that a busy day like this can be turned into what it's meant to be - our happiest one but at Glenlo Abbey they made the day of our wedding our happiest day. We'll definitely celebrate more special occasions there or will just return for the atmosphere and experience.

Yelp
Glenlo Hotel is totally unlike a hotel and much more like a large family home "where everybody knows your name" and they care that you relax, that you enjoy your stay and that you leave rested, relaxed and looking forward to your next visit.. Good food, great service, wonderful setting and somewhere to just chill 'n' fill for a few days. Ten minutes from Galway City centre overlooking Lough Corrib with their own Golf Course, Fishing, Boating, Archery and walks. Oh and the Cellar Bar is worth a visit or two ! Tell them we sent you and promised a free glass of Prosecco - it is cheeky, but it is a good way to get introduced.

Yelp
Perfect stay for our anniversary trip to Ireland. Amazing service and staff. Breakfast was certainly one of the highlights. Grounds and course are beautiful and well maintained. Dinner on the train was unique and delicious. Recommend this hotel with no hesitation!

Yelp
This place is nothing less of FANTASTIC! Very cozy and amazing service. Falconry and archery are the best activities. Jurgen was excellent and we had a great time. He was so good we may even continue some archery classes back home! This hotel is a must if you will be in Galway, even for one night ( although I am sure you would love to stay for so much more) !

Yelp
I can't say enough about this place. It is so beautiful and elegant, yet very warm and inviting. If you pick a place to stay in Galway, this is it. You won't be disappointed. The food is great, the service great, the hotel and grounds are great. We stayed at 6 different Castle and Abbey hotels in our travels through Ireland. This was hands down my favorite.

Yelp
Our stay at Glenlo Abbey was the cherry on top to our entire trip to Ireland. We spent 6 days in Ireland, 3 different hotels in three major cities. Our most memorable experience was Galway particularly because of our accommodations at Glenlo. We loved it so much that we booked a third night and skipped out on one extra night in a different city! We were greeted with warm smiles and kindness. Any requests we had, and there were quite a few especially with food were quickly accommodated and served with a smile. Some of the hotel is a little outdated but it definitely adds to its charm. Being in a different country and away from home sometimes you naturally miss the comforts of home, but Glenlo truly made us feel like we were home. The fireplaces, the Christmas trees and the gifted piano player made every night cozy and a truly relaxing experience. As two young women traveling we did notice the lack of young people at this hotel, however there was never a dull conversation with the other guests or the charming employees. A special thanks to Aymen, Sandra and Sadhbh for making our experience extra enjoyable! We would definitely recommend this place and we hope to return in the future! Much love from Kati & Sherren Rm 202

Yelp
I recently hosted my 30th birthday party in the Glenlo and it was a fantastic experience. Communication prior to the event was first rate, and I felt that all my needs were addressed. We reserved a room off the Cellar Bar, so we had our own space and could hang some decorations, but were also very handy to the bar. It also meant guests were in the same area, so nobody got lost or scattered as sometimes happens at these things. There were around thirty of us, and though we could have squeezed a few more in this was very comfortable - not too crowded but still appeared 'busy'. The food was fantastic - mini hamburgers, cocktail sausages, chips, fish goujons and breaded chicken. Though this may sound like standard finger-food fare it was significantly better than average, much more flavourful, clearly handmade, fresh, and a fantastic jalapeno kick to the chicken. Finally we cannot compliment the staff enough. They were attentive, friendly, warm, welcoming and witty. They really treated us well. I cannot recommend the Glenlo enough for an event like this.

Kac Y.

Yelp
I booked a tour of five castles. This was the worst. If you have no "special needs" or "requests" you might do well here as they are on their own agenda and don't care much about yours if it differs from the norm. They are gracious enough if you play by their rules. Every other castle staff was lovely, accommodating and gracious. Not so at Glenloe when you tell them there are ants in the room and they look at you as if you are crazy. Three vials of super glue later, at my own expense, I solved the problem and closed the hole. The $200 meal at The Pullman was a disaster. I called ahead and asked for a heart healthy chick breast entree and had to battle my way through each course as the chef did not understand the simple request for a balsamic vinaigrette on a simple bed of greens. No allowances were made for a series of mistakes and disappointments. Go there if you want to do it their way. Stay away if you have any special requests. They are NOT customer service oriented if you stray beyond their lines. Not happy. Won't EVER go back.
