Glenmere Mansion Exudes Old-World European Glamour In the Lower Hudson Valley - Hotels Above Par - Boutique Hotels & Travel

"Evoking a Tuscan villa an hour north of New York City, this Relais & Châteaux boutique hotel sits on 150 acres of formal, Beatrix Farrand–designed gardens and has become a premier Hudson Valley wedding venue. The 18 individually styled guest rooms and suites mix antiques and fine art (installed by Scott Snyder) with creature comforts like expansive terraces, fireplaces, separate seating areas, sumptuous beds, and marble en suite bathrooms featuring heated floors, claw-foot tubs, and Acqua di Parma amenities. Wellness is a major focus: an 8,000‑square‑foot spa centered on global water therapies includes a Carrara marble bathhouse, authentic Turkish hammam, herbal steam room, dry heat sauna, Swiss shower, cool mist room, and central aqua massage vitality pool, plus a top-rated Moroccan Purification Ritual that combines a full-body exfoliation on a heated marble belly stone, a detoxifying clay wrap, warm water cleanse, head‑to‑toe Argan oil application, and post‑treatment relaxation with tapas and organic tea. Dining is overseen by Executive Chef Gunnar Thompson across two distinct outlets—an intimate tavern serving bar fare like a cheesy French onion crock and a secret-list fireside burger, and a formal Supper Room offering a farm‑to‑table menu of locally sourced fish and game (with desserts sweetened by on‑site honey)—while a central courtyard provides romantic al fresco dining. The property also boasts an extensive wine cellar showcased in a Wine Dinner Series, an outdoor pool, pavilion, whirlpool spa, fitness center, har‑tru tennis and bocce courts, a championship croquet lawn, a luxury house car, and on‑site heritage chickens that supply eggs for breakfast. Nearby attractions include the Storm King Art Center (about 25 minutes away), Brotherhood Winery, Dia: Beacon, West Point, Woodbury Common outlets, and local farms for seasonal activities; nightly rates generally range from about $750 to $2,675."

We had another wonderful stay at Glenmere during Valentine’s weekend. We stayed in the Vanderbilt Suite & really enjoyed the two fireplaces in the room. The food, atmosphere, spa massages & game room were fabulous. But what really made our visit special was the service. The staff went out of their way to be friendly, helpful and attentive. Susie was a particular standout for her helpful suggestions, accommodating our seating preferences & great personality. Stephanie & Heather were also amazing and I really enjoyed the massage I received from Peggy. We always have a sense of calm & true relaxation here and look forward to our next visit!

I actually went to the restaurant for lunch with friends. The experience even on a could dreary Saturday was outstanding. Wine selection and cocktails were excellent. Flatbread and zesty French fries for appetizers were delicious. The pear Gorgonzola grilled chicken salad, burger with pastrami, grilled onions and general Tso cauliflower were excellent too. However the most impressive part was the service and that’s was made the afternoon a real memorable one. We were never rushed. The servers gave excellent recommendations. They did not judge on the quality we ordered and did not push to order more than we could eat. We left the restaurant happy and satisfied with no leftovers! The ambience was outstanding and the whole property majestic. Great value for money.

Our second visit was even better than the first and that’s hard to believe. The service, spa, and dining are exceptional. The Glenmere Mansion is why they call it hospitality. Go and enjoy!

This was the second disappointing lunch in the Frogs end in as many months. As always the atmosphere and service were first-class. The food however is failing. First time I ordered the French onion soup and Caesar salad. The soup (usually my favorite) was awful. I’m an experienced cook and I detected elements of catsup and Worcestershire sauce. The salad was tired and drenched in an overly salted dressing. Both gave me the impression of being salvaged leftovers. The next time I ordered the QP burger without the bun. Now QP stands for quarter pound according to the waitress. No way the minuscule overcooked burger was a quarter pound. The bacon accompanying was also over cooked and cold. The chipotle sauce was bland. The Glenmere mansion has much to recommend it. Lately though the food falls below even mediocre standards. Without the food being a draw what is the reason to pay first class prices for second class effort on the part of the kitchen.

This hotel is a gem- from the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable. We were greeted with welcome Bellini drinks. The grounds are beautiful, charming and pristine. Our room (which they upgraded us) was ready by 11:45am. The room was immaculate- a fireplace, complimentary snacks and bottled water and handwritten notes welcoming our arrival. The butler Beau brought up our suitcases and gave us a tour of the property. The hotel offers a complimentary Volvo to take for a drive- which was a fun perk. We both had spa treatments (massages)- the spa itself is beautiful and relaxing. Each treatment room has its own bathroom which was new and appreciated. After the amazing massages, you are escorted to the relaxation library and given fresh tea, a yogurt parfait (never seen this before) and spa water. The restaurant was excellent- all the food was fresh and delicious, while service was impressive. There is also a second turn down service which is appreciated and it includes chocolates, a preview of the next days weather and new water bottles. The complimentary breakfast was amazing- juice, coffee, a basket of delicious fresh pastries, fresh fruit and an entree of your choice. When you check out, your suitcases are unpacked in your car and ready for your departure. In addition, Beau handed us a lovely goodbye gift bag with snacks and bottled water for the drive home. Overall, this hotel is a hidden gem- the little touches add to the 5 star service and it is romantic getaway! Highly recommend!!

Google
Beautiful historic mansion, the views are incredible! The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming. The rooms are clean, the bathroom is amazing! All the details along the corridors are interesting to stop and observe. Adult only resort which fit our wants for a quiet romantic evening. Will gladly be back!

Attempted to go to a massage appointment at the spa. Reception couldn't find it (though I had the reservation email) Overpriced, exterior is starting to get really shabby. Customer service is non existent.

We had an incredible experience at Glenmere Mansion! On a cold Saturday night, we came here for dinner while staying at a nearby B&B in Glenwood. The meal was outstanding—I had the filet mignon, and my husband had the chicken pot pie. Both were so delicious that we decided to return the next day for lunch. (Highly recommend their burgers!) We also spent time at the spa, and it was beyond luxurious. We did the luxury bath, which included a couples room with gentle exfoliation, whirlpool tubs, and a warmed lotion with oil—it was so relaxing and nourishing. The relaxation lounge, complimentary tea, and attentive staff added to the exquisite experience. The spa itself is stunning, with gorgeous furnishings and design details that make it worth traveling for. We’re accustomed to 5-star spas in Manhattan, and this one easily tops the list. We’re already planning our next visit and looking into other spa services. Highly recommend Glenmere Mansion—it’s truly a gem!

Yelp
Truly the best restaurant in the Hudson Valley. The ambiance and service are unmatched. Best place for a date night, quiet and tranquil space. The food is the best you can find just about anywhere. I had the best Negroni of my life. If you prefer wine they have a sommelier. Overall a perfect dining experience!

Yelp
Very beautiful estate located in Chester, NY. Overlooking a top of a hill. I had brunch with my family here which was a 3 course meal that included two classes of Prosecco and a dessert. I ordered the oysters, lobster Benedict and coconut cake. The oysters were mild, mignonette was fabulous paired with the cocktail sauce. My grandmother had the smoked salmon to start which was also mild but savory. My mother had the shrimp "Oscar" which was paired well with asparagus and Hollandaise sauce. The lobster Benedict was served with a claw and half a tail. The lobster itself was a little tough for my liking. Cooking maybe 2-3 minutes too long. My grandmother had the same but my mom had the steak and eggs which were both cooked perfectly. I tried the coconut cake as our waiter recommended it and he was absolutely not wrong. It was absolutely tasty. The service here is great but don't expect a quick meal. This is the type of place where you sit and enjoy your food. No spectators are allowed on property, only guests can view the exquisite mansion. The decor was restoration of the property was nothing short of breath taking. Every room was tastefully decorated. We did get to tour the property for possible use for a future event. We did get to see the barn event space which I thought seemed very out of place for a French styled mansion.

Yelp
I've dined in the Supper Room multiple times and it has always been a lovely experience. Everything from the chef's creations to the attentive waitstaff to the elegant decor, they were all memorable.

Yelp
This is where you want to go for a special occasion. The service is top notch. Food is Michelin worthy. Beautiful, beautiful place.

Yelp
I was greatly looking forward to my stay at Glenmere because friends and family always raved about it. I'm so happy to say it lived up to my expectations. From the start when we entered the premises Joseph and Scott were welcoming and accommodating. They continued throughout my 2 day stay. The room was extremely clean, comfortable and decorated beautifully. The bed is so comfortable and the bathtub was very relaxing. We enjoyed having cocktails served by Sandy and our servers during our meals, Lisa, Mike, Joanna, Ashley and all the staff were friendly and accommodating. The grounds are beautiful to walk around even in the cold weather. The views are spectacular especially during the sunsets. Next time we will come in the spring-summer and do some spa treatments. I highly recommend Glenmere for a First Class experience.

Yelp
Amazing facility and elegant grounds. Superb service and food at the dining room. Perfect for all special occasions or for a quick escape from daily routine.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel located just 1 hour from NYC. Beautifully appointed rooms. Friendly and courteous staff. Great dining. One of the best spas my wife and I have been to. Great place for a romantic getaway.

English E.

Yelp
Awfully expensive! But diverting place. Tiny lunch for two over $200 and nothing special! But where can you go around there? It's a wasteland with this strangely out of time and place resort.

Lily K.

Yelp
We've been here plenty of times and I've never had a real complaint until this Tuesday. I am 21 but I did not bring my ID because I was eating with my parents and haven't been asked to show my ID while with them since I've been going here for the last 3 years. I was refused drinks even when I offered to show a photo of my ID. The waiter other than denying me, just wasn't warm. He never asked if we needed anything or how our food was. Didn't check in on us once. I hope our next trip to Glenmere is better. The food was great as always.

Yelp
What a treat! My girlfriend treated me to a trip to the 'Mansion' for my birthday and it was quite memorable. Thank you Alan for the arrival treats, nice touch. One standout was the food and beverage team, especially Eric. He was quite knowledgeable and makes a great 'Perfect Manhattan.' We had some military guests that had dinner and departed by way of the 'lawn' in their Black Hawk. Way cool. Loved the surroundings and the bike tour from our new friends at https://www.joefixits.com/. Good people. PS: If you go, let Alan tell you about the 'friendly ghosts' in 14 (our room). He asked us if we wanted to move and we said, 'heck now these ghosts are fun! Great back story on the ghosts as well.

Yelp
I was here for a hot minute so I can't recommend. The last time I was here it was an actual house to a friend who passed away and they turned into this beautiful spa restaurant hotel. Four stars for that the awesome place it is now.

Yelp
Came to the Glenmere Mansion for dinner at the Frogs End Tavern and it was a fantastic dinner from start to finish. We indulged in their cocktails (Glenmere Gatsby) and wine, started off with the freshest burrata and tomatoes, as well as their pumpkin soup. A lot of the vegetables they serve, or that come with your meals, are either from their own garden or from local gardens. For entrees, we order the duck, a burger from their special burger menu, the pumpkin ravioli and halibut! Everything was fresh, delicious and tasty! Don't forget to save room for dessert!

Yelp
Such a wonderful experience from beginning to end. The staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. The food was DIVINE. The spa was the highlight of our visit; we didn't want to leave after a full day of services in this beautiful newly renovated spa. One of the best I have ever been to. Went for a quick NYC getaway and came back recharged for the holidays. A++

Yelp
The best honeymoon ever. Thanks to Chris, Joe, JoJo, Paige, John, Lisa, Mia, Chloe, and everyone else that made our experience so wonderful. The food was outstanding and the service excellent. We especially loved the Limoncello frozen drinks at the pool. The decor was gorgeous and the scenery second to none. From our Gilded Age inspired wedding to a perfect setting for our honeymoon- we had a terrific week.

Yelp
I was a guest on a wedding. It was fabulous. It is a dream place. Food was great as well as service and everything else.

Yelp
What a beautiful establishment!!! I cant wait to go back in the Spring/Summer to enjoy the grounds. Dinner was amazing. The staff were polite and very professional. From the moment you drive up to the doors you are elegantly whisked inside. We enjoyed cocktails in the grand parlour first. Dinner was amazing with wonderful presentation! We finished off with after dinner drinks in The Library. I highly recommend for an all inclusive experience of elegance and dining. Get there early, stay late for drinks and enjoy the grounds. It is beautiful!!

Yelp
Nine people for dinner in private dining room celebrating wife's 80 th birthday. 5 stars all around for ambiance, food, service and value. All people impressed and happy.

Yelp
Terrific food and unbelievable setting in a private castle overlooking the lake. Private security guard, privacy, perfect decor, great valet and wait staff, and chatty owners who will be happy to tell you the story of what they did to restore the grand house to its original glory. PS. We were there eight years prior under the old management and the difference is night and day. Is it expensive? Yes it is. But you aren't going to your local pizza place, you are stepping into a different stratosphere, and frankly into a labor of love. I don't see how the owners will ever recoup their investment. So go and enjoy it. 2016 review - I was curious Glenmere received a few 1 star reviews (Alicia and Spanky specifically) both of these Yelpers have given more 1 star reviews than any other. IMHO a reviewer should wind up with a sort of bell curve to their grades, not just a bunch of negative reviews. Make of that what you will.

Susie K.

Yelp
The hotel and restaurant are lovely, if not overpriced. The staff is very kind and the rooms are beautiful (especially the marble bathrooms). The food is delicious as well. However, the spa staff was rude and condescending. The treatments are extremely overpriced. I called ahead to confirm they could accommodate a current physical handicap, and they reported it would be fine. When I arrived, they were flippant and were unable to support my needs. Neither the front desk of the spa or the technician seemed to care.

Yelp
Beautiful setting , lovely atmosphere, friendly staff. The food was less than desirable. $18.00 Glenmere Salad: the greens were NOT fresh, I had to search for the tiny bits of beets and tiny bits of goat cheese, an abundance of candied walnuts, and an abundance of craisins which wasn't listed on the menu for this selection. One friend had $18.00 Flatbread Pizza: artichokes, zucchini, and greens served burnt, didn't see any cheese. Another friend had $33.00 salmon dish ,which she asked for rare, candied out well done and another friend had $32.00 Lobster Roll that was served on a butter toasted roll with a side of chips that appeared to be out of a chip bag (not homemade). This was our first sampling of this restaurants food. I'm glad I didn't order the $50.00 burger or the $26.00 Prawns (which sound delicious while reading the menu). From the taste I had, I will not be returning for their food. Not for me. My return would be for the atmosphere for drinks with friends, not the food.

Yelp
My daughter and I had a delicious lunch in the Frogs End Tavern! It was the perfect way to spend my Saturday morning on a cold snowy winter day! Everything was A+ From the lovely gentleman at the front door, the attentive server, the delicious lunch we had, and the perfect ending with our incredible Apple crumb and cappuccinos! We are so lucky to have the Glenmere to escape to!

Yelp
The mansion, the gardens, and great dining are all reasons to visit. Spending a day at the spa is also encouraged.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice setting. Good service. A bit expensive. Only real knock is the ridiculously small portions. Now mind you, I have a disdain for those restaurants that you leave with half your meal in a carry out but this place is at the other extreme. And I mean extreme.

Yelp
Glenmere Mansion sits on a 150-acre estate that was originally the country retreat for the Goelet family, (one of the super wealthy early 20th Century NYS families hardly anyone ever heard of). Several years ago it was transformed into a luxury hotel and spa. People come here from all over the country, some arriving by helicopter. It's posh, even though it's in Chester, NY, an area better known for agriculture. Rooms are $750 a night with a two night minimum. Food and spa are additional. People come from all over the country for weekends, some just come up to use the spa. You can eat in either the dining room, or the tavern, which offers food and drink in the beautiful cortila when the weather is nice. It's a beautiful place but probably appreciated best by those who afford it's high cost and utilize the spa. The food is good, but don't expect a four star Micheline meal.
google avatar

Claudia W.

Yelp
This place is absolutely incomparable. There is nothing like the experience of going to Glenmere Mansion. I have yet to enjoy their Spa or stay overnight, but I've eaten in the Supper Room for many different occasions over the years and every time has been nothing short of amazing. I recently took my other half, who is a professional chef, and he raved about the food in every aspect. The service, the food, the overall ambiance...absolute PERFECTION!!

Lauren B.

Yelp
Went there to check out the area today on Mother'sDay, not to walk around, but a quick drive up and there was a man in a shed who came out...He looked unprofessional and had a attitude...instead of explaining why I couldn't go up, he said, with a tough demeanor, "Turn around here,"!!! WOW!!!! This guy looked like Humpty Dumpty with poor communication skills! Needless to say, I will never go back to this place!!!
google avatar

Yelp
The Glenmere Mansion is one of my favorite places. I have been here several times; for lunch, dinner and once for the wine tasting dinner. On each occasion, I have enjoyed my visit immensely. The food is always impeccably served and delicious. The atmosphere and ambiance give me the feeling of being transported to another country, like Italy or France. It is such a treat. Today a friend and I went for lunch, I had the Glenmere Salad with Chicken and she had the Shortrib Sandwich with homemade vegetable chips. We were both extremely pleased. And of course we left room for dessert, which was also excellent. I had the Caramel Ice Cream Sandwich and my friend had Mrs. Astor's Sundae with chocolate sauce. Both were delicious. So if you want to experience one of the best hidden gems of Orange County, make a reservation, I highly recommend it!!!! It is much more affordable than people realize too. Thank you Glenmere Mansion, I will certainly be back, for another culinary experience

Yelp
Want to feel like you're at a plush , most charming , most luxurious Tuscan style mansion without having to travel to Tuscany ? Then this is your place . Given that covid is prohibiting our travel to Europe , this was the next best thing if not even better , dare I say . This resort and spa is immaculately manicured with every inch of its several acre grounds , just perfectly appointed and incredibly tasteful . It'll blow your mind away - every room , every seating and dining area not to mention the guest rooms !! The all marble bathrooms will bring you to tears of joy and that moorish style porcelain hand painted sink is just stunning . No picture will do this place justice . You have to go in person to experience this 10 star luxury resort . Don't get me started on the friendliest most service oriented and best trained staff . Even the doorman Trevor who greets you is polished and incredibly sweet . The sommelier Christian , only 3 days on the job and I could spend pages just talking about his service and how much he bent backwards helping to make our dinner the most memorable ever . Pamela who helped me with the behind the scenes stuff and our reservation plus everything leading up to our stay was incredibly thorough , professional and just beyond amicable . Linda who gave us a tour of the property was absolutely wonderful and a breath of fresh air from the second we met . Literally felt like I'd known her for years . The swimming pool area surrounded with beauty from every angle entertained us beautifully . Nothing about our stay was less than perfect . Thank you for a most incredible stay . And kudos to the owners who have done a remarkable job to say the least with the restoration of this historical mansion and obviously the upkeep and most detail oriented operations of this magical place .

Yelp
This is the place to go if you're looking for a memorable dining experience...Absolutely stunning location. Ate outside on the patio. Terrific service. Good food. The drinks were very weak so I would stick with wine for which they had a nice selection. Would definitely come back again!

Yelp
Joe and I had date night at the Glenmere Mansion's Supper Room last night and it was great! The food was AMAZING and they catered to Joe's Celiac disease. The service was impeccable and the ambiance was top notch! Definitely worth every dollar spent. Saving our pennies to go back!!

Yelp
First off! it's hard to give an accurate review with all the Rules and Regulations due to the pandemic, That being said we went there for dinner the other night to celebrate a birthday, The Mansion is a nostalgic beautifully constructed mansion, Truly amazing the construction and the grounds, We went there for dinner we did not stay overnight or vist the spa Just dinner The place where we ate was obviously not were guests usually eat it was obvious, Nevertheless it was pleasant and clean and quiet the waitress was friendly and helpful and attentive The food was well prepared I had the filet mignon And wife had the Salmon we also ordered a salad as an appetizer it too was well prepared. The portions were not very large but the quality was very very good my filet mignon was cooked perfectly. Everything was fine only issue was our cappuccino was cold, not even warm But otherwise the dessert was delicious, I highly recommend , PS this place is not cheap be prepared to spend. Cheers

Yelp
What a wonderful time lunching outside! The colossal shrimp cocktail and champagne with the sound of water sitting in the very quaint courtyard setting was as close to being in Italy without the hassle of flying. The impeccably manicured grounds are reminiscent of Villa D'Este. The charming accommodations along with exceptional wait staff and delicious food makes this truly a 5 star. My second time here and I know I will be back!! @lindadlist

Yelp
In addition to breakfast during our two night at the Glenmere Mansion, we had two dinners: one pre fixe and the other al la carte. Fine dining was closed due to Covid. Our pre fixe was the write truffle menu. Delicious pasta, nice Tuscan steak and a semifreddo. Our second dinner, was less exciting, but good nonetheless. Service was excellent. The maitre d was very attentive and made some excellent recommendations, including the wine we choose. He was very concerned that we had a good evening and would periodically check in with us. Breakfast at the Mansion was fine.

Yelp
Glenmere Mansion is an estate that actually was built in 1911. Over the years it has changed hands many times; it was anything from a hotel to a wedding factory. Now it is a luxurious resort that sits on 150 acres. It includes 19 suite guest rooms, a tavern, restaurant, spa, outdoor eating area, and garden area. They are also looking to add a tented area out back that would be used for special events. Every room is beautifully decorated. Very classic, clean and chic. We were able to take a tour of the mansion the other night when we came here for dinner. We walked through the study, sitting area, supper room and China room (which is technically a private dinning area). Although it sounds like a lot, each room is fairly small - for example the main supper room only seats about 40 people. We were not able to take a look at the guest suites, but we saw a spread they had in an architecture magazine and they were to die for. Is it wrong to want to go on vacation 15 minuets away from my house? Anyway, we actually ate in the Frog's Tavern which sat about 15 people. The room looks old and rustic. There is a huge stone fire place along the back wall and two built in bookshelves that take up both sides of the fire place. There is also a bar that is in the front of the room that seats about six. The whole setting is very cozy. You are sitting in ginormous cow haired chairs while dinning on modern American cuisine. My friend and I wanted everything on the menu and since we knew our eyes were much bigger than our stomachs, we decided to share two meals. The first thing we had was the apple relish turkey burger with fries and a caramelized onion ailioi dipping sauce. The second was the panini special, which was artichoke, onion, pepper and cheese, coated with olive sauce. Both were delicious. My favorite was the panini. It was so packed with flavor. Of course we got talked into getting dessert (not that you really have to twist our arm). We ended up ordering the lemon meringue cake. When it came out of the kitchen our mouths just dropped! It looked like a piece of art. It was toasted (is that even the right word) to perfection. It tasted just as good as it looked. Extremely moist - It took all I had not to eat the whole thing in one second! So in a nutshell......If you want to go somewhere extremely elegant, come here! The decor is amazing, the food is delicious and the staff is very accommodating.

Yelp
I can't begin to say what a disappointment dining here was. We have heard nothing but raves from a number of people who have been here and will say that the setting is quite lovely. That is the high point! After much attitude and difficulty getting a reservation we were greeted upon arrival an hour early to have a cocktail outside on the porch. We proceeded to select a sofa that was filthy and covered with leaves and dirt. The table had spiders on it. We ordered drinks and even though they were only a few other guests it took 20 minutes for them to arrive. Our server spilled a few drops on the table and never wiped it up. We were not given any napkins at all. A few minutes before our reservation time we asked to be seated only to be told the table is not quite ready. Once they summoned us we entered an empty dining room. I'm still scratching my head over that. This place is overly pretentious and self-serving and that includes the staff. The menu was somewhat limited in the overall quality of food for the prices was mediocre at best. Our dishes were left empty and not removed until the next course was being served. There are a number of surcharges and supplements on the menu as well. What really Bothered me most was our server who is there for over 15 years and knew the food quite well did not tell us the specials until we Overheard him reciting them to the table next to us. Once he explained the specials to us he mentioned twice that there was a surcharge for the lobster tail out of the shell being served with a piece of fillet beef. He asked if the surcharge was OK without ever telling us how much it was. Seeing that the Foie Gras was a $20 supplement which was reasonable I failed to ask how much the surcharge was for the special. When I got the bill I saw that they charged me an extra $100 over the $95 three-course meal for the special. Shame on me for not asking but that is obscene. And double the shame on him for hiding that price. We also were told on the phone that we were welcome to bring a special bottle of wine for a special occasion with the $75 corkage fee which is higher than 99% of New York City restaurants and this is a remote faux tuscan castle replica that is clearly worn around the edges. When we arrived they told us that we were not allowed to bring in any liquor and after reciting the fact that on the phone we were told we could it took two hostesses to give us the approval after conferencing that seemed like a congressional caucus. When we got the bill they were going to charge us $100 for the corkage but after a slight protest they demurred and graciously only charges $75 for the privilege of mishandling a bottle of rare wine. But the best is yet to come After paying the bill and putting up with the amateur staff ranging from the hostesses to the servers to the invisible piano man we got up to leave and no one and I mean NO ONE said goodbye or thank you. We walked through three rooms to leave with it not a soul or staff member in sight and went outside to try and retrieve our car. However you guessed it-there was nobody there for five minutes we waited and then I said fuck it this is absolutely obscene and went over to the key rack and found my key and pulled out to leave this ridiculously self-important expensive and quite mediocre "Mansion". Also after being informed that a jacket was necessary I was only one of the handful of men wearing them since the dining room included an array of Hawaiian shirts and suburbanites dressed in provocative clothing. I honestly don't know how this place survives and is recommended. Maybe it was an off night for the staff, for the servers, for the kitchen, for the cleaners, for the furniture and obviously an off night for the valet. Can't wait to never go back so go at your own risk.

Yelp
We like to get away on Sunday evenings. They had no availability, but we thought we would stop by on our way to another place with the intent of staying another time. Would not let us drive in and take a look. No worries. We prefer our friendly destinations. Neighborhood not so great anyway.

Yelp
If you want a full service dining experience, look no further than Glenmere. You receive the staff's full attention before you even sit for dinner. I was able to enjoy a tasty kir cocktail while taking in the ambience of the mansion. Not a bad way to relax after work. At dinner we began some salty rolls and biscuits with olive, rosemary, and cheese that I really enjoyed. For an appetizer, I tried a sunchoke soup which was very good. I am glad I went out on a limb to try it. My main course was red snapper served with fennel sausage and mini clams. It was very well put together. I would not say it was the best snapper dish I have ever had, but I am certainly happy I ate it. Every bite of it. I wish I had sampled dessert, but since I finished every bit of my meal I simply could not eat any more! I look forward to when I can dine at Glenmere again.

Yelp
We are here in frogs end tavern Saturday evening. The service was terrific; friendly and courteous without being overbearing. The menu is simple pub food, but they did have specials. For an appetizer I had the General Tso's cauliflower. It was delicious!! It was crunchy with the right amount of heat. The giant garlic prawns were also tasty and lived up to their name.... they were giant. For dinner I had a special of red snapper over root vegetables in a coconut basil sauce. It was also very tasty. My husband had the grilled cheese which was delicious and served with fresh, homemade root chips; not from a bag! The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is for two reasons... for dessert we had the ice cream sundae. The chocolate sauce was served on the side and was very thick, almost chewy like it may have been old. The whipped cream also tasted like it was from a can and not fresh. It was very dense. The second reason for the lack in a star is because it was a very cold night. The frogs end tavern is small and cozy... beautiful inside with a hugh fireplace. It would have been wonderful to have the fire going alongside our table. I would definitely like to go back. It's the type of place for a romantic getaway, hidden off of the road, beautiful, quaint rooms to relax in, a spa and pretty grounds.

Yelp
I have to preface this review by saying that it is almost entirely based on an incredibly negative experience we had with ONE person at Glenmere that almost completely, single-handedly ruined our honeymoon stay. I said incredible, because it truly is - even in retrospect, it still makes my blood boil. I booked us for 2 nights, Nov 14-16, at Glenmere at the rack rate of approx $1300/night for their suite with 2 fireplaces as a mini-moon splurge to unwind from our wedding weekend. I called ahead of time to inquire about the rooms with the fireplaces since that's what really sold me and upgraded us to the above mentioned suite with 2 fireplaces. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a charming and professional butler. At check in, my husband jokingly remarked on the rate of the room and asked if that included anything. We were not told it included breakfast (I did later check on their website and fine print does say rates include breakfast, but it would have been nice and expected that it would have been communicated to us at check in). We were ushered to our room (not the one with two fireplaces), and my husband asked if they could move us to a room with a balcony (and a fireplace) - they did so without skipping a beat, as the butler added we were the only ones staying at the property, so I made no mention of the first mistake. Once in our new suite, I asked about turning the fireplace on and we were told they were not working. The butler said, "you weren't told they weren't working?" No, we were not. Incredibly disappointed and exhausted, but not wanting to ruin our honeymoon, we ordered room service and indulged in the split of Champagne they left us with a nice, handwritten note acknowledging our honeymoon. I mention the nice details because I really want to be fair and put our story out there and let you decide.. The next morning we went to the reception and encountered the woman I'm basing this review on. I asked her for recommendations on where we could go for breakfast (she never once said we were entitled to a complimentary full breakfast). My husband was hungry and opted to get us a table at the restaurant while I spoke with her. I told her I was really disappointed at the fireplace not working in our room and explained that was the main reason we splurged on Glenmere for our honeymoon. Her reaction completely baffled and infuriated me. She shrugged her shoulders (literally) and gestured to a silent, "oh well". When I pressed and said that we should have been told prior, she said, "well, it's not in our policy to refund money." She said, the best she could do was offer a discount towards a future stay. I could not believe this response!! I asked for the owners business card and told her I needed to think about how I was going to handle the situation and suggested she do the same. Again, not wanting to ruin what was left of our stay, I downplayed the whole thing to my husband but told him I was unhappy with how she handled everything. We went out around the town of Warwick, which was both charming and quaint as were the people. We had dinner off property and came back late. The butler that evening was very sweet and said we were missed. My husband asked for a late checkout the next day and he agreed to extend it 2 hours to 1pm. The following morning, we were greeted by this same woman and she pulled us aside to tell us that she was aware that we had been given an extended check out of 1 PM but that since we were the last couple on the property and they needed to get some plumbing work done before the winter they wanted to start that as soon as possible and wanted us to be checked out by 11 AM. At this point I just had to laugh! My husband said, we will not be checking out a minute before 1pm and you should be ashamed of yourself for asking us that. I just could NOT believe this!!!! We were in our room, and I kid you not, this woman was calling us at 12:58pm!!!! We checked out at 1pm as was originally granted to us, completely disgusted and outraged. Our mini moon was successfully ruined by this person. I've never been more angry in my life. We've traveled the world over and this establishment is not worthy of a single star, let alone Relais and Chateau status. The premises are beautiful but the lack of service and outright insults are just not worth visiting at all - especially with the crazy expensive rates. You're better off skipping this one altogether.

Yelp
So relaxing..well I have already reviewed this 5 Star Hotel, and I would give it a 5.6 now. I had an amazing sister getaway with an extravagant spa experience. This is my new relaxing getaway. The staff is amazing and the make you feel special. The hotel itself is amazing but the penthouse was out of the world. We had a great time and as sisters we bonded thanks to your service. Great job. I will be back.

Yelp
I am a Certified Travel Agent and Certified Meeting Professional for 25 years and have been to Italy 9 times so I am picky when it comes to travel, hotels and anything Italian....I own a travel agency and tour company called The Little Wine Bus, Hudson Valley Wine Tours and events and The Little Beer Bus, Hudson Valley Beer Tours and events and we pick-up guests up all the time from this gorgeous gorgeous hotel and they always rave about how happy they are at this property and in aw. This is as close to Italy as you will get anywhere in New York State. The mansion is gorgeous and takes your breath away when you arrive. The elegant high end brunch is my favorite! I treated my 90 year old grandmother and she was blown away. The spa is fit for a king or queen and is certainly amazing. The grounds are so pretty and the staff is friendly and helpful. I LOVE the beautiful piazza inside and outside and always have and always will recommend this remarkable 5 star property to all my weekend and overnight guests looking for something memorable, beautiful and special.

Yelp
I have had dinner twice in the supper room. The property alone would be worth the trip, but the meals definitely live up to the surroundings. Once inside the dining room, we were treated to a wonderful meal. Every course was delicious. The prix fixe menu is nicely balanced, with a good variety of choices for each course. Although, honestly, I doubt there would have been a bad choice to be found. The wine selection is impressive. The sommelier was knowledgeable and helped us make the perfect selection for our table. The ambience and the service are elegant without feeling overly stuffy. The servers are very professional, but also personable. I look forward to going back and trying the tavern as well.

Yelp
We went for the Thursday night wine pairings dinner. It's a great value as we would not have ordered a different wine for each course but this is included in the fixed price deal. It always feels like a million at Glenmere Mansion to dine in an elegant room with simply impeccable food, service, wine. The crowd is mature and well dressed. It's a real treat for a special occasion. Every detail including coffee at the end of the meal was perfection. You can't go wrong. Setting is in rural beauty of upstate Orange County NY. Only an hour from NY city and 15 minutes from Woodbury Commons shopping.

Yelp
Sure, $800 and $3,500 dollars for ONE NIGHT in your old house-turned-pretty-hotel may work for you sometimes, but who in their sound mind goes to Chester, New York for a "luxury getaway" anyway? Sadly, many people no doubt, but how long can the people at Glenmere keep playing this shtick? Note to staff: When someone calls inquiring about rates and asking a few questions, a potential customer potentially willing to spend $1200 a night on a room shouldn't be snarked when he asks about what amenities and services are included in the stay.

Yelp
This place is epic. Unmatched service. Everything tastes amazing. It's an experience. The only "issue" I have is the disparity in the sizes of portions. I'm NOT a quantity person but if you are spending $500 on dinner for 2, you shouldn't leave hungry. Most recently My husband had duck and I short ribs. He had to share his duck with me. Mind you the short ribs were one of the more delicious things I'd ever tasted! Everything tastes so so good you don't want the meal to end. The cocktails are crafted to perfection and the service is just like you are royalty. It's truly a special dining experience.
