we stayed at one of their chalets while hiking in the area. the biggest perk is definitely the ideal location in the heart of Cairngorm national park with beautiful scenery wherever you look. however, there are a few things that I just cant leave out. the chalet was spacious for our small family, had its own patio and it was wonderfully quiet, but it was, and I hate to say this, somewhat neglected. there were cobwebs and dust in every corner, the bedsheets had hair from other people in many, many places (yikes), the oven didn't work (at all), the wifi almost never worked (and there was no phone signal to begin with), the shower was moldy in many places and the front door would only shut with great force (or it would open again with the next breeze, which made our first night slightly scary). we still enjoyed our stay. the park is gorgeous, the fridge worked, we drove to Aviemore for dinner every night and had drinks at the Glenmore Lodge main building after (which can be reached on foot from the chalets), but I wouldn't stay here again under these conditions.

Went on a tour with Timberbush Tours today and the guide and the driver, Robert and Brian were just fantastic, what a joy. I was the oldest in the group because it was mainly young people but I was there with my son's. The vibe in the group was just fantastic. How is it possible to make a 12 hour bus drive so amazing ? I know the answer. It is thanks to a Scottish humor 😄

Nice place to disconnect and enjoy the nature! Pros :) - room is shown as photo posted (though my room had a double bed + single bed), spacious and neat/clean - nice peaceful view from the room, windows can be open for fresh air - bedsheets and towel as are provided and clean - free parking on site - comes with breakfast the next morning and its buffet style, freshly cooked - staff are very friendly and polite - has several hiking trails around the lodge so is great to hike from the doorstep - shower is great, water pressure consistent and hot water supply is strong Cons :( - no TV, no fridge, no hair dryer, no amenities such as toothbrush toothpaste slippers or body wash/shampoo - no signal around the area but provided with wifi so is ok - breakfast was too quick and early personally (7:30-8:15) - walls are a bit thin, can hear the noises from corridor and if anyone open or close the door

Apparently they’ve just started renting rooms through Airbnb, which I was very happy about! This place was exactly what we needed. Clean, good beds. Lots of rooms. Plus a washer and a really efficient drying room. They even have a bar in the facility that my friend really liked. They serve breakfast from 7:30-8:15 am, and it was decent enough. Really great location for hiking in the Cairngorms.

Did a two day winter skills introduction course. The facility is excellent, the staff are friendly and the instructors very knowledgeable. We didn’t stay at the lodge as it was fully booked but the whole experience exceeded my expectations.

Great place to learn mountaineering from fully trained instructors before going out alone! Plus they provide free hire of top quality outdoor equipment if you don’t already have it.

An incredible experience on the intro to winter skills course. Great food at the lodge, friendly and helpful staff, and exceptional kit to hire. The guide was fantastic and we learned so much safely even when the weather was challenging to say the least. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Fantastic centre offering great courses, all with excellent facilities to come back to after a day of activities; whether it be on the water, or up in the mountains in which the centre is situated below. The food is AMAZING, with course participants being provided with a whopping 4000 calories a day, guilt-free too, as you definitely work them off! Scheduling in time for tea and cake in the afternoon only adds to the experience. Definitely worth considering if you're looking to do any course in the Scottish outdoors!
