On the Grid : The Grind

"A small coffee shop, but not a small menu. Whatever kind of coffee drink you like, they have it, and take so much pride and care in making it. Hungry? Try one of their donuts, pastries or quiches. Or if you're looking for lunch, try one of their sandwiches or salads and top it off with a cupcake or slice of pie. It's an excellent place to go on a Saturday morning, to kill time before/after a movie, or while you're waiting for a table. If it's nice out, take your treats outside to enjoy their patio." - Knoed Creative

Ordered coffee for 25 for a baby shower at my house and it was served in I believe they call a Cambra. Anyway the coffee was delicious and stayed hot. It was the hit of the beverage selections. Several ladies raved about it and asked where it came from. Also, the price for 25 servings was less than $50. A bargain if you ask me and didn’t have to make it. A huge bonus. Thank you Glenview Grind. Glad you are in my neighborhood.

Google
Love this place. My husband and I come here almost every Sunday to get coffee and some pastry. I highly recommend it.

Google
I had a very pleasant experience at this coffee shop. Their coffee and teas taste delicious & fresh, not like a chain place at all. They have a great choice of food items as well. It was very friendly & welcoming inside with the convenience of a drive through as well. Plenty of parking. For a small place it had a lot of good seating options as well.

Google
Love the location, vibe, and pastry items!! We live right around the corner and come here almost every Saturday to pick up breakfast. Unfortunately, we have not found the coffee to be worth purchasing despite our best attempts at trying multiple coffee menu items (regular, latte, cappuccino, cold brew, iced). We really have tried our best because we love the location and vibe but we haven’t found one we could even finish. We really want them to do well especially as a local coffee shop but hope the coffee quality and taste improves.

Google
Very very cute shop. Very chill atmosphere. Good music. Suuuper friendly staff!! We got the avocado toast that is made with maybe the BEST nut-free pesto I have ever had. Toast was crispy and everything tasted very fresh. Also got a warmed cheese Danish and chocolate chip muffin. Both were so satisfying and not intensely sweet. We also got 2 of the specialty drinks, 24 oz blended, thrilla vanilla latte and caramel fantasia. Both drinks were absolutely refreshing and phenomenal. Local. Independent and family owned. They are definitely doing something (well a lot of things lol) right!! Check them out!!!

Google
This coffee shop has a very warm and friendly vibe. The cashier/ owner was so friendly. She asked customers' names and then call them by their name afterwards. The are selling jam, honey, coffee beans, tea and t-shirts. The coffee was good but not great and the scone was fresh and tasty. There was a printer to use, parking seems not an issue which makes this place a great spot to work and study. Overall: RECOMMENDED!

Google
Cute little spot! Tried the snickerdoodle coffee, which was really good! The grinder didn’t work so unfortunately, I did not get to try a nice cup of dark coffee with their custom beans so I can’t really rate those but the coffee I had was good. I also had a smiley face cookie, whichwas OK, not the best cookie I’ve ever had but definitely edible.

Google
S really great independent / family owned coffee shop. The coffee is delicious and the service is great. I didn't try any food, but it all looked amazing and I've heard good things. This is definitely a spot you will want to check out in the area

Yelp
If you're a coffee lover this coffee shop is a must-visit! The coffee here is nothing short of amazing rich, flavorful, and brewed to perfection. The ambiance is cozy and welcoming, making it a great spot to relax or get some work done. The staff is knowledgeable and passionate, always ready to recommend a new brew!

Yelp
Yaaaaaayyyy, a coffee shop with a drive through! I never realized how much I needed something like this until I had a small child who can be fussy if I try to repeatedly remove and return her to her car seat. The drive through isn't obvious at first because it's not fully open but instead covered by a sort of walkway in the building. Anyway, the drinks are solid. I got a chai, my usual, and was happy with it. The service was friendly. They have some treats on their menu as well, which I might try at some point. I'm looking forward to visiting again.

Yelp
This is a busy, cozy place by the train station. I parked on the street facing the tracks which is permit only, but M-F, and it happened to be a S, so we're good. I ordered a lavender London Fog and an almond croissant, which they warmed up for me. This is a fun place -- I saw Taylor Swift cookies (it was around the release of TTPD) -- not really a fan but I applaud the effort. Also, I saw a stack of books to read and I saw not one, but two, Georgette Heyer books. If you are a Regency fan, or even a Bridgerton fan, GH is more JA than JA. I digress. The lavender London Fog was perfect. The almond croissant was enormous but had more sweet filling than required, and tasted a little unnatural, though it was crispy and flaky. I will stop by again for the great drinks and fun vibes.

Yelp
Cutest suburban coffee shop! We went during December, so it was decorated beautifully for the holidays! Both my husband and my lattes were made perfectly with zero modifications, which I feel is so hard to find lately, and service was super sweet. We didn't utilize the drive thru because we had time to kill, but I imagine that's the best feature on a busy weekday morning! Overall, so pleased with glenview grind! Would absolutely become a staple for me.

Yelp
You order a coffee here or anything else. And end up asking for cup of water which is tap water and they charge you a 1$ for tap water. What a joke!! No wonder ppl can't wait for new coffee place Hometown coffee place to open. I go charges 1$ for cup of tap water? Joke never again buying anything here.

Yelp
Such a cute little shop! The ladies up front were so kind. I ordered an iced vanilla oat milk latte and it was the perfect balance. You can tell the coffee grounds are legit and good quality! We also tried the croissant and bagel breakfast sandwiches which were pretty good!

Yelp
Great coffee, great vibe, great service. Perfect location for a coffee place too!!!. Down-town Glenview, close to train station.

Yelp
NGL, I was a little underwhelmed by this place. I've been on a matcha latte journey, so I've been ordering that everywhere lately. The menu didn't specify that this doesn't come sweetened, though I probably shouldn't have assumed either. I also felt like the iced matcha latte was too warm. I had to ask the cashier to pour my drink into a larger cup with more ice. They were very nice to do that and offered to sweeten it with some vanilla syrup. They do have a ton of seating indoors along with some cozy chairs. There's also a few outdoor tables and chairs too.

Yelp
Great location! as a heads up, I never give a coffee shop a 5/5 unless they have a pour over (and are great). Glenview grind is great but they don't have a pour over. They do use nice beans and have nice food options. It's in a nice location with things to do near by. They have nice lattes and the drip coffee is nice too! The Avocado toast is amazing as well! Parking was easy on the street, seating on the inside was nice. TVs setup and all.

Yelp
E When in Glenview, this is my go-to cafe. The smoothies ..yum! The coffee...double yum! The avocado bread...triple yum! And if you're under the weather, the healing latte is exactly what you need!
google avatar

Yelp
The iced hazelnut latte with oat milk was absolutely amazing! I would recommend this place to anyone!

Yelp
Friendly service and nice variety of offerings for breakfast or lunch. Had the drip dark roast coffee that was okay, but with it enjoyed a blueberry scone that was exceptional. Great chew and super moist and it probably made the coffee better than it was alone. Sitting outside on a nice day, there's two outdoor seating locations, one along the somewhat busy and noisy Glenview Ave vs. The quieter one adjacent to the building in the parking lot. Very dog and child friendly. Nice place to hold a small book club.
google avatar

Yelp
It's always a great experience when I visit the area. The coffee is good, the service is quick, and the bakery is a nice little treat.

Yelp
Love the drive through! Great smoothies! I get a custom blend and they do a fantastic job! Staff is super accommodating and friendly. Salads are fresh and yummy.

Yelp
Charming place in the middle of downtown to get coffee and breakfast items. Glenview Grind is more than just coffee and eating though. It's where to go if you're looking to catch up. Find old friends here or meet someone you haven't already. The place is kind of crowded, especially in the morning and weekends, which should be obvious. A convenient location is one of the best things about it. It's close to the Metra Station. The coffee is the main thing. Even so, there's lots more. There's breakfast and lunch sandwiches. It's about $4 for a small coffee. The Matcha Green Tea Latte is a favorite. Choose from a few milk types including non dairy choices. Oatmeal is one of the breakfast options. It's about $3.75 for a bowl. This comes with choice of milk and toppings. Best place to get breakfast in Glenview. It gets busy of course but it also has a relaxing charm about it. The breakfast time is busiest but there's also sandwiches for lunch and whenever.

Yelp
Loved my drink AND my sammy. I had full intentions of returning and trying MORE things from both the beverage menu and food selections - but Covid... However, what I did like was my drink had the perfect mix of function (coffee) and decadence (chocolate) and topping. The food was fresh, flavorful, yummy. If I'm back that way I'd stop in again. And if you're out there, swing by & give them a try. And try as many things as possible (in my honor)!

Yelp
I've followed Glenview Grind on Instagram for several years but today was my first visit. I wasn't far from here and had a novel with me I wanted to finish reading so I carpe-ed the coffee. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy parking was. So many other suburbs have created three-ring circuses out of street parking, but Glenview Grind has a lot adjacent to the building. There's enough space that the Glenview Fire Department easily parked a truck there without blocking anyone else in while a few of their crew popped in for drinks. The customer in front of me took his time ordering, which was great for me so I could peruse the menu boards. While I'm generally faithful to my vanilla oat milk lattes, especially when evaluating a new-to-me coffee shop, the Frango Mint caught my eye so I ran with that. The pastries in the case looked really good but I refrained this time. They serve food as well - the customer in front of me had a conversation about the chicken salad - and a selection of bottled/canned beverages including hard seltzer and local beers (I saw that Sketchbook label...). I was bummed by the lack of cozy seating. There's a small area of leather chairs but those were taken so I nabbed a seat at a table. It wasn't terribly uncomfortable, but I would have loved to stumble upon a coffee shop with comfy seats for reading or visiting with friends. It appears my generation left those in the 90s (or we were severely misled by Central Perk)... The interior felt like cluttercore in the best way with strings of Christmas lights hanging across the ceiling (that may be seasonal?) and a variety of t-shirts, mugs, and other merch available for sale. My drink was good - a nice balance of mint and chocolate. The espresso didn't pop through the I would have hoped, but I did choose to order a dessert-like drink so that's on me. Like other reviewers, I wish my drink was served in a ceramic, reusable mug. I'm sure I'll be back. I'd like to try some of the pastries or food, and overall, it was a good experience. And I finished my book, so it met expectations for being able to churn through the last 85 pages of a best seller while caffeinating.

Courtney M.

Yelp
The worst sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich. This is not a fresh made to order sandwich. It came with a circular slice of a dry pre made egg patty that had no flavor/salt and half a slice of cheese. Not even a full egg or full slice of cheese on a breakfast sandwich. It was served to me lukewarm and the egg patty was ice cold. I can't believe they serve this, let alone charge $7 for it.

Yelp
Just stopped for coffee but I look forward to my next visit. I like sitting outside. Their blueberry scone is awesome.

Yelp
Stopped by to do some work, it was bright because of the big windows which helped bring good energy to the start of my work day. Baristas were friendly . I ordered a really good honey turmeric tea that you can asked to be served in a pot. The place was buzzing and busy, all good signs of good product offerings .

Yelp
I love this place so much! They serve breakfast items and pastries here but I really come here for the coffee. I especially love enjoying the iced Frango mint latte on their patio. Great place to get some work done and enjoy some fresh air--with wonderful coffee!

Yelp
Great atmosphere and staff. Family owned. Excellent selection. Most meals made on-site with creative touches.

Yelp
Glenview Grind is a great coffee spot. They have many drink and food options to choose from including smoothies, coffee, and sandwiches. Moreover, they have a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating as well. They also have a drive thru option which is very convenient. The inside is very clean and is a nice place to go and do some work. The staff is also very friendly and prompt when making the orders.

Yelp
I've traveled the world & all the States in the US. This was more like a cafe than a coffee shop. My wife & I ordered two cold brew coffee's and we asked a few questions to the cashier. She did not know the answer. Then they never asked our names & didn't have a drink sticker identifying our drinks. After a long wait & many customers confused around us our drinks came out incorrectly. I asked the Barista and she looked at me like I was from a different planet. The place had no clue about customer service. We finally received our drinks and after one sip we tossed them in the garbage. They were the worst tasting cold brews we have ever had. The shop was cluttered and didn't have a good vibe.

Yelp
Very disappointed in tuna melt that costs over $13. Very skimpy on amount of tuna and pasta salad and chips NOT included in this item. Tuna very spicy also.

Yelp
Great coffee, great food. Love supporting independently run coffee shops and family business. This spot excels at feeling like an independent business as well as a being professional in their appearance, service, and attitudes.

Yelp
My absolute favorite coffee shop. It sucks I live so far from it, I'd be there every other day if I lived near by! The avocado toast is a MUST. I never get avocado toast anywhere but the pesto they use is amazing.

Julia E.

Yelp
Cute little shop with a nice vibe to it. Great customer service as well. I got both an iced lavender matcha and a warm cow tipper latte. As an avid matcha drinker the matcha was alright didn't really have any flavor but the cow tipper was delicious and I recommend!

Sharon S.

Yelp
Friendly staff, great atmosphere and food. Definitely one of my favorite spots. Love their breakfast sandwiches and smoothies.

Yelp
Solid coffee spot. Way better than Starbucks. Idk what else to say about this place. Just a normal coffee shop with a drive thru
google avatar

Yelp
I am a huge fan of local cute coffee shops because they have such a unique taste compared to Starbucks and Dunkin, and I like supporting local business. This turned out to be an amazing gem for me. They have plenty of specialty flavors, and I tried the iced Nutella latte that was absolutely delicious. Some places who put Nuella in their coffee make it WAY TOO RICH, but this place gets the perfect amount mixed in. I would literally drive 30 minutes from my house just to get this again because the flavor quenched my thirst. The only annoying this was that they didn't stir it up to make the coffee cold. My iced coffee was still warm until I mixed it myself... kinda weird taste when it's lukewarm lol. They also sell smoothies, which my boyfriend loved the Wildberry flavor, and they also sell some doughnuts, ice cream, and food. This place would be cute to just sit and relax, and they also have an outdoor patio.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped in for breakfast one morning while in town. The food and drinks were fine. They were good, but nothing that stood out to me. They initially forgot our scone which we had to go back in and get. The building was well maintained, it had a nice selection of outdoor seating, and a reasonable crowd. Overall it was a fine little shop but nothing I'd go out of my way to visit.

Yelp
I was on a mission to find a doughnut to dip in some delicious hot coffee and I found exactly what I was looking for. Parking: In the back, street parking and down the street if needed. Had n no problem. Seating: There was lots of seating there on a Saturday, but I ended up sitting on the stools near the windows. Doughnuts: I was told that these are from Bennison's Bakery in Evanston. Got my fix with an Ube doughnut which was a nice surprise with purple inside. Coffee: I got their House coffee, which from the website is described as a medium roast from Columbia. Loved it. I usually drink coffee black. Looking forward to coming back! Seems like a great place to study, do some work or read a book (close to Glenview Library.)

Yelp
Nice place, I try the healing latte, and it was so good. I wished they have different sizes for that one 4.90

Yelp
Price is pretty good and the atmosphere is very cozy :) food and drinks are average but definitely would come again for the super friendly staff and decent food/drink!

Yelp
Great customer service! Food and drinks were prepared quickly. The stacked grilled cheese and berry smoothie were both delicious!! Perfect for a quick bite to eat with smoothie/coffee options when in a rush.

Justin M.

Yelp
Great vibes, great people, great choices in food and coffee. Went there a few times and was pleasantly greeted every time upon arrival, immediately making my day better before even receiving my order that always turns out awesome.

Yelp
Great ambiance and super crowded all the time! Tough to find seats sometimes but worth it for the yummy drinks and awesome experience.

Yelp
I've come here to do work a handful of times. What's great is that you don't have to worry about metered parking, unlike other areas in the North Shore where you risk getting a ticket for going over 2 hours (looking at you, Winnetka) and therefore can't do work in peace. I wish they'd serve "for here" drinks in ceramic mugs like other independent coffee shops to reduce waste/ single use cups. In case you didn't know, most paper cups aren't recyclable because the inside is coated in polyethylene, a plastic resin. A big plus though is their involvement with the local community. Currently, they carry special items like notecards and tea towels from Arts of Life, a nonprofit that provides support for artists with developmental and intellectual disabilities. They also showcase works of local artists. When I was there, they had several photos taken by a student from a local high school (GBS) displayed on their main wall :)

Yelp
Wah wah, wanted to like this place but was not what I was hoping for. We frequented their last location but things have taken a turn for the worse. 1. We went in around 10:45 and there was not one table available. That's good news for owners but not such good news for patrons. Fortunately there were countertop seats. 2. My latte and my husband's espresso were in to go paper cups. We don't like that for a couple reasons and I don't understand why cafes do this. It's a simple ask, "are you taking this to go or staying here?" 3. We picked up our drinks at the pick up area and I asked if she made my latte with sugar free syrup as I had requested. She had not. Bad if I was sugar sensitive and NEEDED sugar free. Also bad because now my husband was long done with his espresso while I waited for my latte to be re-made sugar free. Also, upon ordering, I requested "less sweet", well, it was hardly sweet at all, can't be certain that she put in any sugar free vanilla syrup. All may sound petty. Just saying I was disappointed.

Yelp
The owner is so nice and friendly. I am a regular here. It's the best coffee shop on the North Shore. When you come into the drive thru it at 9:00 am your sitting in your car for 45 mins because people don't pay attention and they are too busy texting or they have a million orders that's the one negative thing that I don't like about this place. I don't like sitting in my car for 45 mins trying to get one drink on a Saturday morning. That I don't like sitting in my car for 50 mins trying to get my drink at the drive thru. I have never ever had a problem or waited that long at the drive thru for my drink.

Shel H.

Yelp
I went back today for the 2nd time this week! It is very cozy and offers delicious coffee with great convenient parking!! Great place in the neighborhood to go to relax and unwind! Highly recommend!!

Yelp
Average, at best. The poor quality espresso shots are probably fine when they're masked by milk and sugar, but on their own they are not very good. My americano today tastes over extracted or like they're using old beans, and had no crema. (Full disclosure - it's half caff and many coffee shops use very old decaf beans, not saying they do here but it could be a contributor to the subpar flavor of the coffee.) On other occasions I've ordered food and it's been... again, average. I ordered oatmeal once with almonds, cinnamon, and honey, and got oatmeal with bananas, blueberries, and chia seeds. Took it to go so I couldn't go back and get what I ordered, unfortunately. The avocado toast is overwhelmed by a strong garlic flavor, it kind of takes over the whole thing. On several occasions there seemed to be some dysfunction behind the counter. Employees yelling to each other, confusion about orders, etc. So, because this location is convenient and because I don't want to support a lot of corporate chains, I come here on occasion. I really wish there were a better option for good coffee in the area. They seem to be doing well, though, so they must be doing something right? The drive through is definitely convenient, too.
google avatar

Nestor P.

Yelp
The latte was good and the pastries are delicious. But it is a noisy place to hold a conversation. The management should place the coffee bean grinder, the blender or whatever it may be the t is making a deafening noise under a soundproof cabinet. It is totally obnoxious to hear this machine going every few minutes interrupting our conversation. They should also consider the potential hearing damage that may be sustained by the staff.

Yelp
Some places/business are like hidden gems. I live close by and didn't even know that this place existed until one of my friend took us there. Local, family wonder nice little sweet spot. Crowded when I first walked in and I guess that's how it is there. They have food, coffe specials, smoothies, bakery, ice cream what not little bit of everything for every one. And yeah you won't miss in protein if you are looking for one of those in your drinks. This place has a really nice vibe to it so you can sit back and relax while you enjoy your drink or chat with your friends or even get your work done. Staff is friendly and the other plus is you don't have to wait too long for your order to come in. Parking is little bit tricky though at times. If you are in Glenview and looking for a good place to get your coffee, I'd recommend this :)
google avatar

Augustin S.

Yelp
I'll stand by that because I've never found such a place where I can get excellent coffee, and I mean better than any other place you'd hoped to go, and a place where the quiet hum and buzz of conversation mixed with the jazz, and warm lighting gives me such a sense of being home. Great coffee shop, with extremely nice staff and a myriad of unique options. Lots of tables and seating for easy work or socializing. Gorgeous interior, wonderful atmosphere. This place has an amazing pastries and coffee selection! I would highly recommend. Trust me. You're going to want to get a large. It's amazing iced and hot. Gather the crew and check this place out!!!

Yelp
Great alternative if you don't like chains. They have lots of different coffee items you can't find it anywhere else. They also have something called a healing latte which I am in love with. In addition they also have food and gelato. They just opened indoors again and have a drive-through as well. One of my favorite things to eat there is avocado toast. Family owned business and local kids work there... super friendly!!!
