This hotel is beautiful. Remodeled and very up to date but still has so much charm. The host/owners were so welcoming and cheerfully offered their assistance with any question. The rooms were exceptionally clean, quiet and very comfortable. I loved the location and breakfast was absolutely wonderful. The staff were cheerful and courteous. |Please be sure you take the path behind the hotel was a quiet walk and gorgeous scenery. I highly recommend. Would definitely come back!

I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights, it was awsome. The view was great and the room was very cozy and was quit big. The breakfast was great, me and my kid’s loved it, my family liked how it was like a traditional place in grindelwald. It was also very convenient, it was nice that you could walk to a miny golf course and a mini playground that my kids loved. This hotel was great afterall.

Wonderful hotel. We loved the atmosphere, the excellent food, room, and of course the staff. We stayed five nights and it was very worthwhile. We highly recommend it. The hotel area is very quiet at night - we slept with a window open. The rooms are very clean with lots of cabinet space for storage. We enjoyed the art work everywhere. We always took the city bus places because it picks up right next door every 30 minutes. We also enjoyed the porch & chairs off our room - very relaxing. Every evening there was an elegant meal for 52 CHF. Absolutely the best. We ate there two nights.

What a wonderful experience that we had at this small and very charming, family owned, and family run hotel. It’s not often that you get the opportunity to stay at a hotel that is a 125+ years old and still run by the same family that opened it 125+ yrs ago. The staff here were amazing. They were professional, courteous, knowledgeable of the area and helpful. I’d like to make a shout out to Matt, Gerhard and Katrina, who went out of their way to help us and to make our stay comfortable. The best dinners that we had during our 2 week vacation, while traveling throughout Switzerland, were here, at Hotel Gletschergarten. The location of the hotel is perfect…close and convenient to everything, but not in the middle of the busy tourist area. We were thankful for that! We would recommend anyone traveling Switzerland to stay in Grindelwald (one of our favorite stays of six in total) and to stay at the Hotel Gletschergarten. It was an unforgettable experience!!

We stayed at Hotel Gletschergarten for a week and loved every day! We appreciated being walking distance to downtown but a bit quieter location. Gabriela and Gery were so helpful with hiking and excursion ideas, and we could buy our tickets right at the front desk! We ate dinner here for half the time and breakfast every morning so got to know the delightful and friendly girls that were serving in the dining room. We had a spacious corner room with large deck overlooking the mountains and loved coming "home" each day! We will stay here again when we return to this region. Also, we were able to do some much-needed laundry in the basement machines as we had been traveling for 2 weeks prior to our stay.

We had a wonderful experience at this establishment, staying for 2 nights while hiking nearby. The hotel was cozy and charming; both the rooms and the dining area. The location was easily walkable from the train station and provided enough distance from the daily crowds to provide a quiet, relaxing experience. Rooms were clean, good size, with a balcony; plenty of room to spread out. Lastly, as a plus, we were able to purchase our train tickets from them.

I would give a rating greater than 5 if the option existed. The service exceeds expectations in every way. This is a family run hotel and everyone in the family makes you feel as if you are an important part of their family!! The check in process, rooms, help with information on place to see and tickets for attractions is absolutely the very best. The Hotel dinner is a culinary delight prepared by an exemplary Chef. The bakery also exceeds expectations. Thanks to the Hotel Gletscher Garden, especially Matt and his Mom and Dad, for making our vacation in Switzerland the very best!!

Yelp
Wonderful doesn't begin to describe the food, service and ambiance of the Hotel Gletschergarten! This is our third trip staying here and it never disappoints. We had a few dinners here that were outstanding - particularly the cauliflower soup starter and the smoked trout as well as the chicken. They were so helpful in recommending great wines as well. We are already planning our return visit!

Yelp
Really enjoyed the stay at this cozy hotel. For the price point, it's a solid value in a convenient part of town, right near the First gondola. Was fortunate to get an upgrade to a larger room, with mountain views and a large balcony. The bathroom was recently renovated, though felt a bit claustrophobic. Bed and bedding were comfortable, though it was a bit difficult adjusting the room temperature and felt a bit too warm. There was a dearth of electrical outlets, for those of us concerned with charging devices. From the sign out front, the hotel is more than 100 years old, and is in a traditional chalet style. It exudes comfort and warmth. There's a sauna, steam room, and game room on site, though didn't use any of these facilities. Breakfast was included in the rate and was a good way to start the day. There's all the coffee and juice you'd want, as well as different breads, cheeses, and cold cuts. The quality of the offerings was very good. There's a lounge area in the back with a fire place, which makes it a nice spot to relax with a beverage. The hotel seems to be family run, and service is friendly and professional.

Yelp
This hotel was highly recommended on many travel sites and they were not wrong. The staff and service provided was absolutely amazing. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and help with anything we had questions about. The location was a bit further from other hotels in the heart of town but definitely worth it for the views. We had a large room with a massive balcony on the 3rd floor. Everything was extremely cozy and felt like home. Would certainly stay here again.
