Hotel Gletschergarten was the best hotel experience I have had in years. For the week that my family was there in June I felt as though I had been welcomed into a kind and loving family, and to be honest we actually were! Gary and Gabriella have created a beautiful and familial setting in which they will always say hello and ask how you are doing. Their sons run the hotel next door, which is also fantastic. Practically speaking, the accommodations were perfect, the decorations cozy, and the dinners at the hotel were locally sourced and amazing. If I am every back in this area this is my desired place to stay.

Fabulous experience at Hotel Gletschergarten!! The rooms we had were rather large and very comfortable, each with a balcony having a gorgeous view - whether north or south. Bathrooms are upgraded and very nice, with towel warmers and plenty of room for a single person. Big, wide-open windows and doors to the balconies to bring in the fresh mountain air. I was at this same hotel in the early 70s, and it brought back a flood of wonderful memories. The same family is managing the hotel, and wow, do they know their business and provide the best guest services ever. Traditional European breakfast and a great variety of super tasty dinners. They post the dinner menu early in the day so you can decide if you'd like to eat there at the hotel. If you want to blow your mind, visit the hotel next door (also owned by the Michel-Breitenstein family) named Fiescherblick - their Chef’s Choice menu with 4/5/6 courses and optional wine pairing is absolutely out of this world, like nothing you've experienced before. We chose the full "6" course menu w/wine pairing and it was beyond fabulous. I put 6 in quotes because I counted more like 15 tasty treats, and that didn't include dessert! Anyway - I think you will LOVE the Gletschergarten hotel/restaurant - it's very traditional Swiss with modern touches. They have parking, and give excellent recommendations for local activities.

Hotel Gletschergarten far exceeded our expectations!! It was our 2nd time to Switzerland, 1st time to Grindelwald. We were met at the train station by Gerhard who drove us up the hill (0.6 mile) to their lovely hotel! We had a very spacious room with a lovely, large porch to sip wine, people watch and watch the cows being moved to different pastures. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful and we were able to opt in for nightly dinners (set menu) if desired. From wait staff to housekeeping, we were pampered! |The location is PERFECT ; away from the tourists, quiet, and the bus stop to train station was right out front! Gerhard and Gabriela were able to answer our questions and book reservations for us to multiple destinations which was so helpful! |We shared our pictures with our neighbor (in Texas) who is from Switzerland and she asked for Hotel Gletschergarten info to share with her family who still reside in Switzerland. |The views from the hotel are absolutely gorgeous!!!|We will return! Highly recommend! Prime location to many places!

A beautifully comfortable traditional family run hotel. The views from our balcony were stunning. The owners gave us a very warm and friendly welcome and helped us plan our stay. The hotel is situated in the quieter end of the town which suited us. The room was very clean and the bedding was impressively white and cosy.

Wonderful, quaint, personal, classy hotel! Amazingly hospitable service and attention to detail. Very comfortable beds. We asked for extra pillows and special blankets and they remade the beds to our liking. Delicious breakfast included with the room. Yummy, very special 4 course dinner. The views of the glacier and peaks from the balconies in the rooms and front porch for drinks/coffee were stunning. Very good service with personalized suggestions for activities and restaurants. Quiet setting just above the hustle of the rest of the town but on the Main Street and bus line - easy walking and access to the train. Absolutely loved it! Highlight of our trip!!

Gabriella & Gary were amazing hosts. They went out of their way to help. Nothing was too much trouble. All hotels could learn from them. |Lovely small old hotel with a lot of history, with absolutely amazing views from the terrace.|Good location, in a quieter area of Grindelwald with bus stops right outside.|Very good breakfast & dinner. |The girls who looked after us at mealtimes were also very sweet and helpful. |I would definitely recommend this hotel

Great views, staff and friendly owners, room comfort, and food (for both breakfast and dinner). This is a charming hotel filled with old school traditional charm everywhere that made wonder if I stepped into a time machine. Very unique and pleasant hotel stay.

The Gletschergarten has been a favorite place to stay in Grindelwald since staying there as a young kid in the 70s. Highly recommend the plan with the full breakfast buffet and delicious 4-course dinners! Staff are always friendly and helpful, and the owners have a passion for making stays enjoyable, answering questions, offering recommendations, and providing great advice on hikes in the area. Cable car and other tickets are available through the front desk, and front desk and dining room staff communicate extremely well in English. We'll definitely keep booking our Grindelwald stays here! :)

Yelp
Wonderful doesn't begin to describe the food, service and ambiance of the Hotel Gletschergarten! This is our third trip staying here and it never disappoints. We had a few dinners here that were outstanding - particularly the cauliflower soup starter and the smoked trout as well as the chicken. They were so helpful in recommending great wines as well. We are already planning our return visit!

Yelp
Really enjoyed the stay at this cozy hotel. For the price point, it's a solid value in a convenient part of town, right near the First gondola. Was fortunate to get an upgrade to a larger room, with mountain views and a large balcony. The bathroom was recently renovated, though felt a bit claustrophobic. Bed and bedding were comfortable, though it was a bit difficult adjusting the room temperature and felt a bit too warm. There was a dearth of electrical outlets, for those of us concerned with charging devices. From the sign out front, the hotel is more than 100 years old, and is in a traditional chalet style. It exudes comfort and warmth. There's a sauna, steam room, and game room on site, though didn't use any of these facilities. Breakfast was included in the rate and was a good way to start the day. There's all the coffee and juice you'd want, as well as different breads, cheeses, and cold cuts. The quality of the offerings was very good. There's a lounge area in the back with a fire place, which makes it a nice spot to relax with a beverage. The hotel seems to be family run, and service is friendly and professional.

Yelp
This hotel was highly recommended on many travel sites and they were not wrong. The staff and service provided was absolutely amazing. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and help with anything we had questions about. The location was a bit further from other hotels in the heart of town but definitely worth it for the views. We had a large room with a massive balcony on the 3rd floor. Everything was extremely cozy and felt like home. Would certainly stay here again.
