Wanted a hotel close enough to walk to Severance Hall and to a nice restaurant. The Glidden house was perfect! ||Our first time at the hotel was for the Diana Krall concert and we’ve already booked again for a concert later this year. The hotel is nice and they have a lobby bar and a great breakfast. Parking (self) is only $15 per night and that’s great for Cleveland.||We love L’Albatros and it’s just a two minute walk. The botanical garden and art museum are also a short walk away. This hotel is both nice and convenient.

We are regulars here! The breakfast is amazing! You get so much for your stay, the experience, the food, the staff, the atmosphere, all of it! They have a beautiful setting and are close to other buildings so you can walk! I love the staff (especially the concierge James!) and the out door courtyard. I always look forward to my stay here and can't recommend them enough!

What a gem! The Glidden House is an historic hotel located within easy walking distance of the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Cleveland Natural History Museum. The location is fantastic of course, and our room was comfortable, clean, and very attractive. But the friendly, it was the helpful reception my wife and I found there that really set the Glidden House apart from other hotels. The person who checked us in and another employee went out of their way to determine what we wanted to do during our stay and gave us many helpful suggestions. Highly recommended.

Stayed here for one night before visiting Case Western Reserve University for my teenager. The location is literally in the middle of the campus. Also right across the street from the Botanical Gardens and museums. ||It is a beautiful, classic building. Very quiet rooms. The free breakfast buffet was standard for a hotel breakfast buffet (nothing out of the ordinary). Walkable to Little Italy area for wonderful restaurants.||If visiting the college, I would recommend staying here.

Glidden House holds a special place in our hearts as wedding photographers at Astrid and Aria! There's just something about this historic mansion that oozes charm and elegance. It's the perfect setting for capturing those timeless wedding moments that couples will cherish forever. We adore the classic architecture, intricate details, and the way the light filters through the glass windows. The gardens are simply magical, offering a variety of picturesque backdrops for romantic portraits. The interior spaces are equally stunning, with their cozy fireplaces, elegant furnishings, and warm, inviting atmosphere. It's not just about the beautiful setting. The staff at Glidden House is truly exceptional. They're always so welcoming, attentive, and dedicated to making sure every detail is perfect for the couple's big day. This creates a relaxed and joyful atmosphere that shines through in the photos. If you're dreaming of a wedding with a touch of history, a dash of romance, and a whole lot of charm, Glidden House is the perfect choice. At Astrid and Aria, we always feel inspired when shooting there, and we're confident your wedding photos will be truly special!

Google
Pros: Great location if visiting Case Western, and walkable to some museums, has beautiful landscape, historical building, friendly and helpful concierge, Roger, and has a nice selection of breakfast like fruit, potatoes, oatmeal, scrambled eggs and baked goods. Has hot water while having showers, and cool air-conditioning and refrigerator keeps food cold. Cons: Seriously needs updating. Our room had cracked wash basin, grout peeling, squeaky doors and bed, and carpet was worn down and dirty. (My white socks were dirty after walking around.) Upon checking into our room, we found an empty medication capsule on the room floor, a paper coaster on floor under cabinet and some black fluff in drawers. Cabinets did not close well too. The main corridor between the ballroom and our room also had some uneven spots, and may be a trip hazard. On site parking is charged with tax daily, and we had to park on street as there was a wedding. Being a hotel guest did not guarantee a parking spot, but was still charged for it.

Google
Superb location. Nice room, plenty of room. Neat and clean. The only things I could point out are there weren’t enough towels for the people in our room, you can hear the people in the hallway like They are standing in your room, and the bed was so uncomfortable. I realize that’s probably a personal preference, and what can you do about that? Overall, decent stay.

Yelp
Not only is this place super charming and adorable... the staff is fantastic! I must highlight Lex behind the bar,as crafted some phenomenal cocktails! Stop by for her seasonal cocktails : )

Yelp
First off, the building and grounds are beautiful at Christmas time. We were excited to see the rest since the outside and lobby area was amazing! We stayed in room 321 which is a suite. $300 a night. For this price you would expect a clean room right? Nope. I opened the drawer of the nightstand next to the bed and found someone's nasty bra still there from a previous stay. Great...Every window shelf had dead bugs on them. Dead bugs on the carpet as well. Does nobody not know how to sweep and wipe off shelves? The queen bed is more like a double. In this particular room, lighting is AWFUL. Especially the bathroom. The shower is crazy weird. You have to physically get into the shower to turn on the water as it hits you with freezing cold water. You have to stay in the cold stream until you find the right temperature. There's no way of doing this another way! My husband and I both tried. Batteries in the bedroom remote were bad. We called down to the front desk and they apologized for the bra and bugs-that's it. We were looking forward to the breakfast and decided after eating semi warm eggs and frozen scones, just to cut our losses and head somewhere else for breakfast. What a shame. We planned this trip and really wanted to love this place. Will not be returning.

Yelp
This is a terrific, reasonably priced, hotel. Staff is friendly and care. Cool older building. Plenty of parking. Rooms are like a typical club room. Good shower, comfortable bed, quiet. All good. So glad I didn't stay in a boring chain hotel. Shout out to the staff - especially the hotel concierge who hooked me up with L'Albatros - marvelous French restaurant within walking distance.

Yelp
The Glidden House is a fantastic venue for a wedding! The service is impeccable!!! We recently had our daughter's and son in law's wedding reception here. Carrie helped us set up our wedding and festivities and everything was absolutely perfect!!! The bridal suite is phenomenal and a fabulous place to take wedding photos! There's an area to do hair and makeup even with a large group of people! The venue is spacious!!! There's areas for all your needs, such as a setup for bridal pieces like the gift box and seating charts! There's a phenomenal area for the appetizers both inside and outside seating! The reception area is extraordinarily beautiful! There's room for plenty of guests, a band, dance floor and bar area! The Zack Bruell Restaurant Group catering led by Kim was fantastic! The bartenders are wonderful! The Glidden House is definitely top notch!!! I must also add that the rooms were fantastic! Very clean and roomy! Nicely decorated! There was also a well stocked breakfast with omelets, oatmeal, muffins, fruit and so on!

Yelp
You can read all the details and comments about this property. As far as the room, the Queen bed is really a full, I hate beds on hi-rise platforms, which they have. It's awkward. The tech in the room is lacking, especially electric plugs. No coffee pot and poor lighting in the bathroom. It was super clean so thanks for that. On breakfast, at least they have it, and it is Covid friendly. It's a nice property, has that old-timey feel, and it's very well located. You can decide if that is enough for you.

Allison F.

Yelp
This was, by far, one of the nicest hotels we've stayed at. It's a gorgeous building filled with history. The lady at the front desk was welcoming and friendly. She checked us in and gave some recommendations for dinner. They have a small assortment of beverages, wine, beer, and snacks behind the desk, and at reasonable cost too. We got to our room and it was great. Clean, decent size, and had a very comfy bed. The bed is super high and they offer step stools. Bathroom amenities smelled very nice. Breakfast was included with our stay. It was probably the best hotel included breakfast we've ever had. Real fresh cooked eggs, well done bacon, fruit and yogurt, breads, cinnamon rolls, hash brown potatoes and special liege waffles. There was a fully stocked coffee/tea bar which is available 24hrs. Tables were spaced out nicely. We sat in the enclosed patio area. There was another juice/milk beverage station out there. Staff were efficient and friendly. We really enjoyed this place and hope to stay here for future visits to the area

Yelp
We won an overnight stay at a fundraiser, so we were excited to have a quiet evening away from home. Glidden House is in a perfect spot to take advantage of The many amenities of University Circle, Larchmere, little Italy, even downtown Cleveland The hotel was beautiful. I loved how the original building was restored and was in awe of the dining room and foyer. Beautiful, historic details. Our room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was a buffet and had lots of delicious options- baked egg cups, oatmeal bar, fruit, pastries, potatoes, sausage. I don't remember the name of the tea they buy, but It was delicious. We were a little surprised to be charged for parking, when we weren't told there was a charge. They could have mentioned that at check-in when they issued our parking pass.

Linda A.

Yelp
The location couldn't be any better--step outside and you're in the best spot in all of Cleveland! The staff is friendly and our upgraded room was very nice. We stayed almost a full week. The downside was their breakfast menu was terrible. The food did not match the quality of a hotel at this price point. We tried to find another close-by breakfast option that was walkable in the mornings--the coffee place next door often had long lines. This was an enormous turn-off--as it wasn't even that edible. If you stay for a longer stay, they don't clean the rooms daily, so we had to come to the front desk to get extra toilet paper and other items. I think every other day cleaning makes more sense or at least a supply check. However, the place has so much charm and the staff really works to make your stay as pleasant as possible.

Bethny A.

Yelp
Traveler alert; Traveler beware! There is definitely a fraudulent manner in which this Inn is marketing themselves. It is not at all what it appears in the photos! My husband is a commercial airline pilot and has stayed in thousands of hotels in his thirty year career. This is by far the worst place we have ever stayed! Room was dirty; hallways dirty; luggage carts dirty; elevator dirty; broken lamps; broken furniture. Breakfast was all very low end items with Styrofoam cups for coffee and no cream (Coffee Mate) The young woman at the front desk was courteous and professional as was the housekeeper from whom we got more clean towels

Blanche K.

Yelp
This is a super cozy, customer centered hotel located in university circle in Cleveland. It has a gatsby-esque feel, classy and elegant, with a story to tell. Service 5/5++ If you're ever in the area and need a place to stay, this is it. Arriving from the airport at 11am, with checkin at 3pm, the lady at the front desk offered to check for room availabilities immediately. We had originally booked a king room, and decided we'd prefer a double since one of us was sick, and we were provided one at no extra cost. No rooms were available, so we stored our luggage and were notified as soon as a room was free at 12:50pm. At night, an extra blanket was brought up to our door upon request. Breakfast, complimentary, was served buffet styled but waited upon as welll. Rooms 5/5 The building itself is clearly aged, but well upkept. Rooms are modernly furnished and super clean! Vintage rotary phones were in each room, as well as vintage decor. Very nice vibe. Clean towels and toiletries. Spacious. Breakfast 5/5 Lavazza single serve espressos!!! What a great way to start my day. Hot breakfast with quality China and silverware. Poached eggs, sweet potato pancakes, oatmeal bar, and pastries. Yummy. What an enjoyable stay.

Melissa M.

Yelp
I stayed here with a few girlfriends for the weekend and it will always be a good memory. We especially enjoyed seeing Dorothy in the mornings with her bright smile and positive vibes.

Robert G.

Yelp
The hotel is ok. It's a close walk to Little Italy, but it's not great. They should call it the Sleep Forbidden House. Garbage truck shows up at 5am and clings the large dumpsters after they are rolled out in what sounds like a mini earthquake. Then, they had painters doing a hallway behind the elevators on the 2nd floor and if you didn't pass out from the turpentine smell, the next morning their scraping would wake you up at 7am from the sleep you fell back into around 6am. Then there were staff or someone yacking from 7am to 8:30am just outside the window If you're an early riser, 5am, then this is the place for you. If not, be prepared to get little sleep unless you go to bed with earplugs or headphones on And the breakfast! Stiff cold eggs and cardboard sausage. Yummy!

Dan D.

Yelp
The Glidden House is wonderful! The highlight of the breakfasts is Tracy! It makes for a great day to start it off with someone so joyful and kind! I plan to stay here again next time I'm in town.

Kelly Z.

Yelp
I love this place! What an elegant overnight stay in Cleveland. This historical inn has a lovely ambiance--comfortable rooms and nice grounds for a city inn. It is located in in the cultural epicenter--close to the Cleveland Art Museum, Severance Center, The Cleveland Botanical Gardens and Little Italy. It could use a little updating including the breakfast buffet but overall, it's a wonderfully romantic stay.

Donna C.

Yelp
Yes, it is THAT Glidden family. The original house is lovely, I only wish I'd have been lucky enough to score a suite there. I received a well-appointed room in the more traditional hotel part of the complex. My queen bed was quite comfy, and VERY high off the floor. (Seriously, I have a torn meniscus so I had to plan when I got into bed so as not to get in-and-out too much.) The room is well appointed, small but comfy. It had a nice sized side chair, desk with swivel rolling chair, and a small built-in dresser with single-serve coffee pot on top. The bathroom is just big enough with the usual amenities. Breakfast is the best part of this place. It was included with the price for me, I'm assuming that is standard. Make sure to take time to grab a bite, not only is the food tasty, but the staff manning the area is lovely. Finally, the location can't be beat! Walking distance to Case Western and hospital, museums, botanical gardens, etc. I hope I can stay here again next time I'm in Cleveland!

Sara A.

Yelp
Location is excellent! Staff was very kind. Everything felt clean. The bathroom was a bit small. It would have been nice if they had any vegan options for breakfast - they didn't even have fresh fruit. We would stay again!

Laura S.

Yelp
We stayed here just recently. We were beyond pleased. Every one of the staff was in a great mood and that says so much. The atmosphere and the decor are just beautiful. Little Italy is very close providing a wonderful dinner and there is so much interesting architecture in the neighborhood. Add in fair pricing and an awesome breakfast results in the highest rating available.

Alison M.

Yelp
Excellent customer service, nice rooms and fantastic location. Mask compliant and very clean.

Hannah B.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place! The building is beautiful and has a very comfortable feeling. Our room was clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. Various fruits, baked goods, juices, coffee, teas and other breakfast items were available during the complimentary morning breakfast. Breakfast was delicious and the atmosphere was very relaxed. I will definitely be staying here in the future. It's nice to stay at a smaller place that is so conveniently located to museums and other attractions.

Michele O.

Yelp
We made the mistake of reserving during a bustling wedding season time of year and hotel was understaffed so the service for toiletries towels and also parking was less than five star rating to

M M.

Yelp
Exemplary service & surroundings at this beautiful hotel in the lovely Wade Oval!! We stayed nearby at a different hotel during our last visit & saw this place as we drove to the nearby Art Museum. It was so lovely on the outside, and after reading the great reviews, we decided to give it a try. So glad we did!! They treated us wonderfully, and everywhere throughout the hotel there were nice touches like fresh cut flower arrangements, and windows with lovely views. The other guests we encountered were all very polite. We arrived on a Wednesday evening when there was a music festival in the area. We were greeted by a friendly doorman & then by a helpful front desk person who checked us in & instructed us where to park. They had their parking lot blocked off with a man standing by to allow hotel guests into the lot. We were happily surprised that there was complimentary, secure on-site parking. Throughout the evening we saw security guards strolling around the perimeter of the property & the doorman made rounds inside, which made us feel like the hotel made guest safety a top priority. Big points for us! We got a double room because we were there with our two kids. The room was clean & the decor was in good shape. It had a dresser, one wingback chair, a small table, and 2 vanities - one in the bathroom & one just outside the bathroom. The beds were comfortable & super HIGH off the ground! I'm short & had to climb onto the bed. There was a choice of lofty and flat pillows, and the sheets/bedding were soft. The A/C had a choice of leaving the fan set to "on", which we always prefer for both air circulation and white noise while sleeping. It kept the room comfortably cool on the two sweltering days of our stay. Would have preferred a suite, but the site says the suites only accommodate 2. I wish they would have sleeper sofas in the suites so they sleep 4, then we could have had a little more roominess. But, the double bed accommodation was adequate for our needs. The bathroom was clean, well lit, & modern. Water pressure was great. We liked the hotel's choice of toiletries. Housekeeping did a good job & were friendly & helpful, supplying us with extra towels on request. Breakfast was included with the room, and they put on a great spread! Each morning there was an egg dish such as sous vide eggs or frittatas, a pancake or waffle option, a meat option, some type of potatoes or home fries, yogurt with fresh fruit & granola options, oatmeal with multiple topping choices, cold cereals and several different pastries. The pastries weren't your typical cardboard variety. These were fresh & good, like they were baked locally by someone who knew what they were doing. Drink options included coffee, several tea options, juices, milk & iced water. The servers were very helpful. We loved the dining areas; the carved wood & leaded glass windows were so beautiful & made for a relaxing breakfast in gracious surroundings. My husband (who I consider the "Simon Cowell" of the hospitality industry :D ) suggested this be our regular place to stay when in the area, and he kept saying he wanted to schedule some "us time" here in the near future. That speaks volumes about the quality of our stay. In addition, the pricing was very competitive. I highly recommend this hotel!

Stanley M.

Yelp
Discovered the Glidden House while researching colleges for my son... and I'd have to say that one of the reasons he wound up attending the Cleveland Institute of Art for a year & a half was due to the hospitality of the staff at the Glidden House. He's moved on, now... but we still return to this University circle gem whenever we have reason to visit Cleveland. It's always a welcome sight when we pull a chair at the bar and talk to "Doc" or learn how to fix the WiFi from James (one of the only low points from our last visit). Mornings at the Glidden is one of the favorite parts of my stay... there is a steady flow of people flowing in and out of the breakfast area. it's quite a meeting place for Case Western professors, doctors and patients visiting the Cleveland Clinic. Very convivial atmosphere! If you're hungry & in a time crunch you can order food from Sergios & have it at the bar or delivered to your room. Very nice, very delicious. Ask "Doc" to make one of his signature cocktails. But you'd better hurry! Once he's done with his studies and passes his practicals it's residency for him!

Brian A.

Yelp
This is such a neat building and a great location close to museums, botanical garden, etc. My only complaint, and they are minor, was a guest being loud at 2:30am, and the complimentary breakfast could be made better with some sausage or bacon or something. Other than that, it was a great stay. Comfortable room, ample parking, great water pressure, kind and courteous staff. We will definitely stay there again for future visits and encourage others. They were even ok with us bringing our mountain bikes in to keep them safe and dry.

Tara L.

Yelp
Anyone can stay at one of the major chains in just about any city. So imagine my interest in staying at a historic mansion turned bed and breakfast in a bustling part of town, down the road from Case Western Reserve. I could tell I was in good hands when my co-worker gave them a call to make sure that they would be able to accommodate a late check-in for me. The woman that answered playfully joked around about welcoming partiers and said that it should be no problem. When I arrived, she knew exactly who I was (guess I may have been the last to check-in for the evening) and was incredibly warm and thorough in explaining to me any information I'd need to know. She offered to call me for a wake-up call, and when I told her 9am, she reminded me that the complimentary breakfast buffet was from 6am-9am, so I made sure to reschedule that call time. My room was not too big, but it was clean and modern with an old-American decor. The bed was incredibly comfortable, but don't dive onto it. I know that's a random warning, but I didn't realize the side of the bed was framed and banged the hell out of my leg. You can imagine how stupid I felt writhing in pain by myself for my own stupidity. No robes or fancy toiletries, but it's just enough to do the trick and keep you happy. What I loved most about Glidden House are the surroundings: perfectly landscaped, lush grounds, a cozy lobby, foyer and communal space and a much better continental breakfast then I expected. Breakfast included the standard pastries and morning carb party food, but also included sausage, egg and cheese pre-cooked omelets (pretty sure no real eggs were harmed here), fresh oatmeal with dried fruit toppings, coffee and fresh orange juice which can be enjoyed peacefully in a beautiful sun room off to the side of the lobby. Makes the start of your day just that much easier. I'd definitely recommend if you're looking for a quiet, cozy place to stay with a little more privacy than your standard hotel. Definitely worth the rate and more.

Alex D.

Yelp
Wonderful place to stay in Cleveland. We were visiting some friends and family over the long weekend, and decided to spend the night here so we wouldn't burden them with houseguests. The room was very comfortable and well-appointed. The bed, as others have written, was extremely comfortable; not too soft and not overly firm either - we got a great night's sleep there. They were having a reception downstairs, but they didn't let it go past 11pm, so it was completely acceptable. The staff were very friendly, and definitely made our stay pleasant. The parking wasn't bad, but it looks like it could be (narrow alleyway along the side of the hotel) - pro tip: go all the way around, because there is a large parking lot behind the place. Next time we come to town, we will be sure and think about a longer stay here, so we can explore the nearby attractions. Cannot comment on the (included!) breakfast, since we had to bolt really early, but it did sound good!

Charlie R.

Yelp
A very nice building right in the center of town! The glidden house has standard rooms that you would see in a hotel, however their breakfast is a little more limited than the typical place, but it still provides a nice variety. It is also located right within university circle. This makes the area quite convenient since you can walk everywhere you would need to go within 2 miles. It's a great place to stay if you're checking out case western or doing a college tour and an experience everyone should try. Unfortunately, there was nothing special for me about my experience here and it also seems that it's best for couples rather than individuals.

Analisa D.

Yelp
Spent the weekend in Cleveland for Cleveland Institute of Music auditions & stayed at this quaint B&B.. the rooms had plenty of space. We stayed in a two bed queen, high from the ground & very comfortable. For me it was fun having to jump onto my bed.... the breakfast was delicious: 3 kinds of eggs, plain yogurt & oatmeal with ALL the fixings. They have an array of breakfast pastries especially the cinnamon roll , when warmed is delicious with a morning coffee or tea!! Sausage was the choice of the morning we were there. The usual drinks of Coffee, tea, milk. If you are not a guest, it's $14.95 + tax. Definitely at the heart of Cleveland museum district! Perfect place! The front desk & morning staff were very helpful & friendly! Thank you for a great visit!

Carol h.

Yelp
We had the most amazing time at this hotel for our sons wedding it will be a time we will never forget from every moment every person at the hotel it was amazing and to Billy the bartender we will never forget you!!

Kobie L.

Yelp
This was a super beautiful hotel and we were so happy we chose to stay here. The staff was super nice and helpful. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The house had a lot of character and it was so nice to be able to sit out in their courtyard. It is also located right across the street from two of our favorite destinations in Cleveland - the botanical gardens and the art museum! It's also super close to little Italy which has a super awesome vintage store (moonstruck), restaurant, and bakery. The only reason for four stars instead of five was the breakfast. When looking at other reviews and photos, it seems that under normal circumstances they have a much better breakfast. However, the breakfast we experienced was not great. I think this was because of COVID in which case it is totally understandable. They had options that were more prepackaged/ to-go items. I would definitely recommend staying here is you are coming to Cleveland! It is a great local hotel that it perfectly positioned in the city!

John A.

Yelp
My wife and I have stayed at the hotel several times. The location in University Circle is very convenient. We can park the car and walk to museums, great restaurants and other activities. It is quite and pleasant. The patio, bar and the staff are all excellent. My only caution is in making reservations. We have had trouble with their own online process and have found reserving through other sites to cause issues. In particular, we recommend NEVER using reservations.com. They basically use another reservations site in the background and charge a substantial "service fee" on top of that. Book directly or be careful.... multiple reservations systems are not a good thing here!!!

Carly P.

Yelp
Lovely staff and a very cute hotel in general. Just around the corner there is Case Univ and plenty of restaurants for a bite to eat. Breakfast was to-go due to COVID. Room was great and the tv was big

Doyle H.

Yelp
This hotel seems to have a split personality. The breakfast is wonderful with attentive servers. The property is pretty. The bartender was friendly and took pride in his work. The location is terrific. At the same time, my room had crack in the window (sealed with tape), and lacked a directory of hotel services, or even a "Do not disturb" sign. The night clerk who I spoke to about the lack of a directory was not only unhelpful, he did not seem to care. (His response was that I could ask him about any services...when I tried, he gave monosyllabic answers, and I had to draw information out of him as if I were playing 20 questions. The actual exchange went: 'Do you have a gym?' 'No.' 'Do you have an agreement with a local gym?' 'Yes.' 'Is there a charge?' 'Yes.' 'Do you have a map that would show me how to get there?' 'Yes, there is one at the desk.')The next night when I spoke with him on another issue (which, ironically, could have been resolved if I'd had a directory in my room listing the hours of hotel services), he was equally unhelpful, apathetic, and frequently looked away as I was speaking to him, as if I were a distraction. His repeated response was that he could do nothing and I would need to speak to the manager the next day. The hotel is more expensive than you might expect for Cleveland. The food and drink prices are more in line with what I would expect in Manhattan. In exchange for that, it aspires to deliver very high quality. Some staff meet that goal well. But the overall effect is undermined by other staff that are apathetic and allow simple issues to go unresolved.

Lydia Z.

Yelp
Awesome place to stay! Near several places of interest including museums and the clinic. The breakfast was enjoyable and delicious. Rooms were good, but not spectacular.

Bj F.

Yelp
We stayed at Glidden House for our first anniversary and had a great time. The hotel is luxurious but incredibly comfortable and cozy. The people are great and treated us like family. The breakfast is excellent and it is in a neighborhood of Cleveland that most people don't know about. And it is a $10 uber to downtown, if that's what you want. We will definitely be back.

Andy M.

Yelp
What a fabulous place! The Glidden House is a beautiful old Bed & Breakfast located on the Campus of Case Western Reserve University. It's a stones throw away from the school and Museum of Art. This old fashioned B&B has a wonderful, retro feel to it. The decor is warm and welcoming and the staff was terrific. I'm sad that we only stayed here one night. The Breakfast was served in a beautifully decorated dining area. The Buffet included eggs, sausage and various pastries. It wasn't the best breakfast I've ever had, but it hit the spot. It was nice to kick back, relax, read the paper and enjoy a nice hot breakfast. The next time you find yourself in Cleveland and want to enjoy a nice, relaxing B&B experience, put the Glidden House at the top of your list. The rooms and common area's are beautifully decorated and the staff is accommodating and welcoming. It was an enjoyable experience.

Yelp
Overview: The Glidden House Inn is a boutique hotel (that was once a mansion) that is located at the edge of the Case Western Reserve University campus (about 2 blocks from the medical center) that is a absolutely perfect in atmosphere for couples or weddings but not ideal for single people travelling for business. The Room: Well designed, beautiful, and well maintained with an EXTREMELY comfortable king-sized bed. Hands down in the top 10% of bed comfort with a very plush pillow-top mattress (at least that's how it felt.) Large wall-mounted flat screen TV is slightly off-center from the bed but not bad enough to cause neck strain. A/C is NOT central but it is quiet and controlled by a thermostat mounted on the opposite side of the room to ensure accurate heating/cooling. Good sized desk at the corner of the room close to the window, providing both somewhat of a window view and the option for television watching. The only bad things I can think of are that the WiFi was very slow and frustrating, and the television signal was poor, and not in high definition. There is no fridge or microwave in the room but there is a microwave on every floor by the vending machines. The Bathroom: Beautifully designed and decorated. Good amount of counter space. The Service: Exceptional. Doormen are there to open doors for you and greet you. Staff members will help draw out where the bad areas of Cleveland are. The Establishment: Very, very cute in every sense. It appears to be a converted mansion. Free breakfast from 6-9AM consisting of various baked goods (bagels, muffins?), a couple of different cereals, and a couple of varieties of juice. Overall: The Glidden House Inn is a truly great boutique hotel that only has a few issues that keep me from giving it a firm 5-stars. The WiFi was awful, I wish I had a mini-fridge and a microwave, and I do wish that the television reception was higher quality. Otherwise, this is a superb, cute, place that is very close to the Case Western Reserve campus that I wholeheartedly recommend.

Yelp
The Glidden House feels very much like 'Old Cleveland,' at least to someone who grew up visiting grandparents and other relatives around the city. It just has the old feel that felt very comfortable from the time I walked in. (Plus the people are very warm and welcoming, of course -- it's Cleveland, after all!) Dark woods and the richness of royal blues with wheat sheaf patterns make the front section feel very much like a massive mansion or old inn, although this stretches into a 'hotel extension' feel. The hallways in the central area -- from bar area on the first floor and above -- are lit by huge windows that let in lots of natural light. The rooms are good sized, with a comfortable feel. In them you'll again find the dark woods, along with royal blue on the lower half of the walls that shifts at the chair rail to a soft gold color on the walls. One touch I really liked was the 'old-fashioned'-style phone (although with push buttons) to pull out more of the classic feel from the rooms. Also, the pillow-top mattress is _extremely_ comfortable -- I need to find out what type it is and where I can get one for my home! I had two problems with the rooms. First, you can't really close the blinds very well, which leaves light always coming in. And second, while it's generally really quiet (whether because of the area or because the walls are mostly good), the door seems paper thin, as if it has holes in it when it comes to sound -- you can clearly hear anyone walking by, and I even heard the guest services person talking to the people across the hall about their thermostat, even when he (I assume) went into their room and fixed it. (Maybe they left the door ajar, but the sound changed as if he went in and I could still hear them talking although they seemed to be speaking in normal tones.] I could also hear clearly a violin player practicing across the hall one morning, but only through the door, not the walls. On the walls, I'll add that I said "mostly good" for the them because they seemed to let in sounds of alarm clocks from other rooms -- radio and cell phone -- but little else...no voices, showers, etc. The pluses -- including the location that's excellent to sites and Case Western, and only a short drive from downtown -- far outweigh my gripes, so I'd stay here again.

Yelp
This is not a five star hotel... don't get me wrong... there is no pool or gym. What it is... is an elegant boutique hotel of incredible quality and service for incredibly reasonable rates. If I have one complaint it is the intermittently slow wi-fi... but I can't complain too much because it's free! It's proximity to L'Albatross down the alley is a definite plus!

Yelp
My travels took me to Glidden house two times in two weeks and I'm so happy that I picked this hotel instead of one of the big chains. Glidden house has all the charm that the big hotels lack, without sacrificing any of the amenities you'd expect to find in a large chain. The front of the house is part of the old Glidden mansion, but as you move to the back of the hotel, modern rooms make for comfortable landing spots after long days in Cleveland. Breakfast is included and served in a gorgeous dining room. Don't expect traditional hotel powdered eggs and some oatmeal. Glidden house serves egg bites, caramelized waffles, fresh granola, etc. There's something for everyone and it's a great way to start the day. There's also an excellent bar in the hotel with ample seating if you're meeting with a group of people. Glidden house is a comfortable spot and a hotel that I would book again in a heartbeat!

Yelp
We stayed a night at this boutique hotel during the winter. As our first experience at at a "boutique", we weren't quite sure what to expect. This is what we found: superb customer service, very comfortable, luxurious rooms, a cozy bar on the first floor where guests seemed to congregate and the bartender took part in the conversations and encouraged camaraderie. The location is excellent; we walked to the Crawford Auto Museum, the Western Historical Society and the Botanical Gardens. Since we were attending a business function, we didn't have to pay, so I can't really comment on price versus quality. I do know, however, that I would highly recommend the inn to others!

Yelp
The location is great--right on a college campus across the street from museums and a nice park is within walking distance. The rooms are charming, a bit different , and very clean. The breakfast was generous and everything but the breakfast eggs was good. Coffee was great and the strawberries and blueberries plus lots of other fruit , homemade oatmeat , many pastries, bacon etc. made for a nice meal. We were there on a holiday and it was quite crowded close to 9 am--if you can get in earlier , you would find it easier to get a seat. The price is about what a nice motel would be with tons more charm and a staff who or friendly in a real , not over the top, way. This is now our go-to hotel in Cleveland.

Yelp
Eh. Honestly for the price this place was not worth it. There are a lot of weird quirks that ruined my stay...If you don't put a DND on your door when you get in the cleaning staff will knock on your door early in the morning "to see if you're in there". That's so ridiculous...I've never experienced that at any other hotel and frankly, that means there is a major communication breakdown between the reception staff and the cleaning staff. What other boutique hotel has trouble keeping track of their guests like that? There are so many other ways to track guests besides waking them up before 9am. In their defense they do suggest that you put a DND on your door but that REALLY important fact is buried deep in a doc on the desk. I got in really late and didn't know it was necessary to read the literature about the room (like rly?) so...super annoying. Additionally, the lighting in the room was really fluorescent and grating. The decor is a major departure from the charming outside of the place. There were no pens, paper, or utensils in the room (maybe that's a covid thing?). Last two things, the room only had a shower (no bathtub). I've stayed in Motel 6's that had more bathroom accommodation. Also their internet is TERRIBLE, it was as slow as dial-up.

Yelp
Sorry to be the outlier, but this hotel was a terrible disappointment. We chose it because it was rated #1 on Yelp, but our experience was awful. For starters, I'm all for old school charm, but Glidden House's outdated reservation system is unacceptable and totally screwed us. I was a little nervous when I called and they said they don't do email confirmations, and that they have two separate reservation systems that aren't coordinated (!?!), but we went ahead and reserved a king suite and a second room with two queen beds for our adult kids. After we checked in, we discovered our kids' room had a single queen bed and a roll-away cot. We questioned the front desk and were told they "oversold" and that's all they had. What??? What kind of hotel oversells, and even if you make that mistake, wouldn't you call the guests and tell them, or at the very least tell us upon check-in, not leave us to discover it? Did they hope we wouldn't notice? They did nothing to compensate us for this mistake because the desk attendant said that only the manager could do that, and she wouldn't be in until the next day, after the time we had to check out. As for the rooms themselves, the website grossly exaggerates their charm. The common spaces on the first floor are cozy and nice, but the rooms themselves are dowdy and tired with awful lighting and miniscule bathrooms (my husband and I couldn't fit in the bathroom at the same time). In addition, our temperature control didn't work, and our room was freezing all night, and the fake fireplace didn't work. The Glidden House is not downtown, and the only reason we stayed in a somewhat inconvenient location was because it seemed so charming on the website. Instead, we experienced a hotel that was in the middle of a construction zone, past its prime, and provided terrible customer service.

Yelp
Two nights. Two cold egg breakfasts. One broken elevator. Not an experience worth repeating.

Yelp
A lovely Inn with perfect service. Everything exceeded our expectations and is a pretty place to stay while in Cleveland. The location right on the edge of Case Western campus in University Circle is also very convient and a great location to walk around the hounds of the school and visit museums.

Yelp
What a lovely wedding weekend we spent here! The hotel is on the National Register of Historic Places. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The breakfast included with the room price offered many choices. The dinner was served so efficiently; they are skilled at handling large groups. Perfectly prepared sea bass and filet mignon were delivered to tables of 12 so the entire table was served at the same moment. They had two bars set-up which was a nice touch. I would recommend this venue for a group gathering.

Yelp
This is not a bed and breakfast. It is a really nice smaller boutique hotel. Clean. Very friendly. Only ding was I was on the side of the Sergio's (the restaurant) and occasionally got cigarette smoke in my window - on the other hand my room also smelled like fried food and tasty meat so 50/50 on the smoke versus delicious smells. Come to Cleveland and stay here. Great for business travelers.

Yelp
It looks charming on the outside and so close to fun activities..but the "charm" wears off when the rooms are so desperately in need of updates. For the price I would go downtown to the 9. It's the same amount and different vibe but at least I'm not stuck in the hotel from Groound Hog Day. Sorry, Glidden..you need to update to ever get me back and too many wedding noisy weddings when I stayed. Hope it changes. :(

Yelp
DO NOT STAY HERE! Your life could depend on it! I had a horrible, traumatic experience here. The hotel gave OTHER GUESTS a keycard to my room, and OTHER GUESTS tried to enter my room (316) at 12:45 AM!!!! Fortunately the door lock was on, but that did not stop these people from banging and banging the door trying to open it. I woke up and flew out of bed, my heart racing, and fell and bruised myself really badly and sprained my wrist. Whoever it was who was trying to enter disappeared (I heard the voice of a man and a woman). I then tried to call the front desk and ALTHOUGH I HAD TOLD THE HOTEL IN THE AFTERNOON WHEN I CHECKED IN TO THE ROOM THAT THE PHONE WASN'T WORKING they hadn't fixed it and I COULDN'T CALL FOR HELP!!!!! Seriously, what kind of hotel messes up like this?!?!?! Imagine the door lock hadn't been on the door....Complete strangers would have entered my room while I was sleeping. It's been a week and this still freaks me out. I have been in and out of the doctor's office and the physical therapist this week, and am still hobbling. The part that really gets me is that OBVIOUSLY the guests who were given a keycard to my room must have gone back downstairs. But did anyone from the front desk come up to make sure everything was okay? NO. COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE--AND DANGEROUS!!
