Such a cool experience! We went on a tour with Jolie who was AWESOME! We learned a ton and got to try some oysters. She taught us how to shuck them. I like to think I’m an experienced oyster shucker but I learned a couple new tips. I also got a mixed dozen featuring oysters from Glidden Point and three other Maine farms. They were all delicious. So glad we stopped here on our way back to Portland from Acadia!

We had an unforgettable experience! The oysters were the freshest and most flavorful I’ve ever had—rich, buttery, and absolutely delicious. Opening them ourselves made it even more fun and memorable. Paired with the stunning view, it was the perfect mix of amazing food and a truly unique experience.

Love this place! Oysters are delicious and it’s so fun to shuck them. Service is super fast and they have snacks and a great drink selection too. Lots of shades seating with a view of the water. You can walk down and see the dock too.

We had a great experience visiting today! We did the farm tour and our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly! This was our 1st time shucking and eating oysters and was pleasantly surprised by how good they were!

Our tour guide was great. She was knowledgeable and passionate about her work and I love seeing that kind of enthusiasm. The tour consisted of some history of the area as well as the operations of an oyster farm. Then we were brought to the wet storage area on the river (or estuary) where oysters that had been harvested were being stored. We saw a crab crawling around the oysters. He was getting a free meal! We were then shown the Cultivator which is the name of their boat that they use for harvesting and the pump house where they wash down all the harvested oysters. Afterwords, we sampled a dozen oysters which we shucked ourselves after a quick lesson. Delicious! Can’t get much more fresh than that. Overall a really fun experience and would recommend it for all you oyster lovers!

Incredible sauna and cold plunge experience. What a beautiful place! Great oysters to shuck (of course!) and a nice beer selection as a bonus. We will definitely be back!

Our tour guide Cindy was outstanding! We appreciated her knowledge, expertise about the process of harvesting farmed oysters. I recommend this as a destination and a great place to eat delicious oysters. My wife and I finally know how to effectively shuck oysters.

My wife and I were vacationing in Boothbay Harbor and decided to take an afternoon trip to Glidden Point Oyster Farms for some fresh oysters -- and it did not disappoint! The setting is beautifully rustic and authentic, as it's a working oyster farm. After parking, you'll find a small building where you place your order. The menu is simple but perfect for the experience, offering things like olives, crackers, chips, chowder, and a small salad, along with beer and wine. We ordered a bottle of wine and a dozen oysters -- they had three varieties available, so we mixed and matched. We chose a table under the large outdoor tent, which has plenty of picnic tables and a great view. It's a "shuck your own" situation, but the staff are friendly and happy to show you how. Shucking does take a little patience (and care!), but it's part of the fun. If you're looking for a unique and authentic experience, I highly recommend.. Fresh oysters, great atmosphere, and a perfect way to spend an afternoon!

I love everything about this place. Outdoor seating overlooking the oyster farm. Great selection of oysters you shuck yourself. Chill vibes. Merch looked awesome but was $$$$.

You don't get oysters much fresher than straight from the farm. They'll supply you with the tools you need to shuck your own oysters and even deliver a little lesson to the table along with your oysters. We also got a good lobster roll from the food truck on premise.

We stopped by Glidden point on our way down from bar harbor to Portland and it is a must do!! The staff is so kind and showed us how to shuck our own oysters. They also took the time to explain each oyster to us. Everything was so delicious. The eating area outside is very cute and quiet. It was also great to travel down to Portland later and then order the glidden point oysters that we had already tried! Would definitely make this stop again.

This charming and beautiful spot is perfect for hanging out and enjoying some of Maine's best oysters. Prices are reasonable, and you can also get the oysters packed for travel, as we did. Or you can feast on these briny beauties on site, with a variety of accompaniments, including adult libations. It's a shuck-your-own operation, and the friendly and knowledgable staff will show you how it's done if needed.

Possibly the highlight of a recent trip up the coast of Maine! I'd read about Glidden Point and saw that they participate in the Maine Oyster Trail, so on our drive to Acadia, we decided to stop for lunch and a shucking lesson. I've never shucked my own oysters before this! Glidden Point is tucked away in a quiet area, right off of the Damariscotta River, and it's lovely and secluded with a view of the water. You order at the counter at the cottage window, and they bring your oysters on a bed of ice with mignonette, horseradish, and lemon (and shucking knives). The seating is outside under a large tent, and there are PLENTY of picnic tables, which were all clean and sturdy and provided nice views. We were shown how to shuck and left to enjoy our oysters! I enjoyed the oysters with a blueberry cider, and my husband tried a local beer. They also sell tinned fish, chips, olives, and other little snacks. Their partnered food truck, the Yeti Boys, was serving seafood rolls and burgers and other tasty fare, so we decided to order a few sandwiches to accompany our oysters. The Yeti Boys' lobster roll and crab roll were EXCELLENT and reasonably priced, and the kimchi hot honey cheeseburger was outstanding. A gorgeous, food-filled afternoon! The staff is incredibly kind and cool, and the other guests were chill and friendly as well. We picked up a GP bucket hat because we loved this place so much! I know we'll return on our next trip to Maine, and I love that I now know how to shuck my own oysters!

Fun little oyster farm. A small quiet farm, tucked away near the sea. They serve oysters and give an information filled tour. In this trip we did not sign up for the tour. There are a few different oyster options available to order. And plenty of local beers to choose from. Also, come ready to shuck your own oysters. Though honestly it adds to the experience and there are plenty of people around who will teach you how it's done! There is also a food truck on the side if you're looking for some food other than oysters.

Wonderful lunch! Spent a couple hours learning about the oyster farm, shucking and indulging in oysters and the food truck! Absolutely will return on future trips back to Maine.

Wonderful experience stopping for oysters at Glidden Point! We learned to shuck our own and they were all fantastic. Staff was knowledgeable and helpful! We tried an assortment of other snacks like the smoked fish dip, olives and kale salad. Everything was great. Matcha lemonade was a hit, as was the cold brew coffee. We had beautiful sunny weather and loved this stop on our roadtrip up to Bar Harbor. Would definitely recommend!

Very interesting oyster farm tour! I did not know you can tell how old an oyster is by the ridges on it shell, nor did I know it takes at least three years to grow an oyster to edible size. They had a food truck there, and they gave you a bit of a hard sell to eat oysters there. We would have, but they serve them unshucked. I don't wanna pay 2 to 3 dollars per oyster for an unshucked one.

I had so much fun here! The staff was so friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I was nervous about shucking my oysters, but Will gave me a great tutorial and was so supportive. I tried one of each oyster they offered and they were delicious! Of course, I had a crisp white wine with them. The outdoor setting was beautiful and my dog was welcome there (which is a major plus for me). I can't wait to go back again!

If you're ever in the Portland area, you NEED to make your way out to Glidden Point Oyster Farm!! It's a little over an hour from Portland, but definitely worth the drive!!! You will get the freshest oysters (they offer a handful of varieties) this region has to offer at this spot. I opted for two dozens of oysters and gave the staff the liberty to mix and max so we can try out different types. They are all so fresh and tasty, and goes extremely well with the local beer Allagash White. FYI - You do need to shuck your own oysters, but they provide you with the tool/towel. The overall experience is easily 5 out of 5 stars and I would definitely come back here again!

We've been eating their oysters for over 30 years and finally visited the farm. It couldn't have been a better day out. First off, sign up for the $10 tour with excellent information and walk to the water (tix online). The setting is perfect and the oysters cheap, but that's because they force you to go shuck yourself (!). Fortunately, someone will kindly show you how. They always offer a mignonette and lemon and often there is a food truck for variety. Great Wave Sushi is there regularly (we were there on a Wednesday). They serve their own mollusks and those from other farms. Beer, wine, cider list is excellent. Definitely worth repeat visits! Oh, the only criticism is of their port-o-potty. Reminded me of ones at Dead concerts, filthy.

Glidden Point Oyster Farms is a great spot to stop at and have some oysters! You can enjoy the water view while shucking your own oysters. You can also walk around and check the oyster farm. Dog friendly. Amazing and friendly service. Beautiful and peaceful outdoor space.

If you're in the area and you like oysters, this is a must. You have to be willing to open them yourself, but it is definitely worth the work.

What an incredible place! Shuck your own oysters that were just harvested while sipping your favorite beverage in their cute outdoor seating area. The oysters were wonderful and very reasonably priced. They provide cloth napkins, a shucking knife and moral support. Wonderful spot! I will definitely be back!

Oh how I wish we had more time at Glidden!! The concierge at our hotel recommended we come here for some oysters. Unfortunately, she told us an hour before close, so we sped on over there and guzzled down a half dozen of the sweetest, most delicious oysters (shuck your own style, and for an amazing price!). They had an adorable outdoor area overlooking the water. They also have lots of cool swag (bf got a hat, I got a bandana) and I believe they offer tours of their farm, which we would 100% do next time! Do not miss this place!!

This is a picturesque setting just off the Damariscotta River that is basically an inlet off the ocean, with a friendly crew of people eager to help you select your platter(s) of oysters that probably just came out of the water hours ago. They have several varieties grown in the area, and they offer lemon wedges, hot sauce and a mint shallot vinaigrette that is intriguing. Just a short 10 minute drive from the twinvillages of Newcastle-Damariscotta on River Rd. And be forewarned, you will learn to shuck your own oysters for some amazing deals at about $1 an oyster. Tours are also available at 11am and 1pm for $5. Can't wait to go back

Great area to have fresh oysters. So chill and so bomb! We tried all their varieties of oysters. I must say they were all delicious and fresh. Beer, oysters, chill place by the water. Can't go wrong.

Glad I stopped. Delicious oysters! They had 4 different varieties so I got 3 of each - they were $1.50 each which I think is a good price considering most restaurants I've seen on this trip have been around $3 a piece (granted you have to shuck your own but worth it for me). I know how to shuck so it wasn't an issue. I also grabbed a local brew in a can for $7. Grab a table outside and enjoy the view. No other food for sale and only bathroom is a port a potty but I would definitely go back. Don't miss this place if your an oyster fan.

This review is based on an unfortunate experience we had at Gliddon Point oyster farm today. We drove all the way from Boston for one day trip to edgecomb Maine which we visit at least once every year and each year we have come to Gliddon point to have oysters and to also take home some fresh ones for later. We brought a bottle of bubbly wit us to enjoy with the oysters, we weren't sure if we were going to buy and take it somewhere by the water to enjoy it or have it there in the farm. The weather was nice and we decided to just sit there and enjoy two dozens of oysters we ordered. There was no one else but us at this point. We popped the bottle and we're chilling there with our two small dogs. Unfortunately, right towards the end of our stay, one of the female staffs ( I believe her name is Kelsey) stormed towards our table, telling that we couldn't have our own drink and claim that there were signs clearly stating that at the order window. We apologized and told her that we didn't see any signs and no one told us. We had been there for at least 45 minutes and no one else had brought this to our attention. She grabbed our bottle of champagne aggressively, looked at how much was left inside and said: " hmmm, you are done with it too!? ) there was more than half of the bottle still left. She then trashed the bottle and walked away, at this point we still have a few oysters left but we couldn't get ourselves to enjoy them any longer, we packed and walked to our car: I looked at the ordering window and there was no sign. We waited till people who were ordering left the window, my husband and I approached her and asked her to show us the sign. She said it is there, but we could not see ANY signs saying you cannot bring your own drink. She came out and noticed there is no sign and then claimed that someone must have taken it. We told her that she could have simply charged us for two drink or a bottle if that meant so much to the business and there was no need for her super rude, and nasty behavior. We let her know that we had been there several times without this being an issue. She kepta saying there was a sign there, so I snapped a photo( attached) to prove the place has no such a sign. She was lying!!! And even if that was the case, her nasty commentary and mannerism was uncalled for. She could have just approached us and said the same thing without the nastiness and we would have apologized and asked to be charged a fee to have our own drinks. The issue we have is again, her nasty and targeted behavior. She seemed to have problem with people of color in the area!! When we left, there were another table with their own drinks on the table, and she seemed to have no problem with them. Although, we have enjoyed our experience at Gliddon point for years, unfortunately we won't come back nor do we recommend this place to anyone. in todays day and age, it is sad to still see this amount of bias and prejudice.

What a treat!! We had a tour scheduled and I had no idea how time and intense the process is just for one oyster. If you have a chance, a tour is a must do. After the tour we bought a few dozen oysters and had a lesson (a few lessons) on how to shuck. It was absolutely and experience. I am glad to know how to shuck oysters and love my new found knowledge.

Great visit to the Glidden Point Oyster Farm. Took the quick farm tour and Sarah was very knowledgeable and friendly. Seeing how the oysters grow and what they do for the environment was a fun outing during our vacation. I am not an oyster eater but my husband loved them! He ate about 2 dozen there and got some shucking tips from Sarah. I loved the pop up of High Roller Lobster Company. I got the lobster BLT and lobster taco. Great selection of wine and snacks on the farm as well.

This was a really fun experience! You order oysters and drinks at the window and then they give it to you to take out to the picnic tables. If you want a shucking lesson they will come out and show you how to do it. We definitely needed a lesson and were pleasantly surprised that it was easier than we thought it would be. They provide the towel and the oyster knife as well. It is a terrific setting and everyone was really friendly and willing to help. We would definitely go back!

My family and I took the farm tour in August 2022. We all like oysters and thought it would be neat to do the tour, we weren't expecting much but for $10 a person thought "why not?" This ended up being one of our favorite activities we did while we were in town! We learned a lot about oysters, oyster farming, and the local Damariscotta River. Be sure to stick around after the tour to try the local oysters and grab a beer/glass of wine. We each tried one of every option they had, and we all agreed the Glidden Point's were our favorites! Just an FYI - it is shuck your own, but they provide everything you need and asked if we needed any help learning how to shuck!

Amazing place! Oysters are fresh and delicious. The self shucking added to the experience. Great selection of drinks as well. The food truck also had great food and service. Left my bag by accident. No worries they held onto it till next day. Thank you!

This is a must if you are in the Portland area! We did the tour, which was a great educational experience for me, as I had no idea how oysters were grown. You start out with an informational session, and then you go down to the water to learn more about the process and see the oysters themselves. Even if you don't do the tour, you need to come here to experience the oysters themselves. You purchase them as singles, and they have them for a great price. The staff is so nice about teaching you how to shuck them. One of the best experiences during my trip to Maine!

Want to eat delicious locally farmed oysters 100+ yards from where they are harvested? This is the place. Great outdoor seating, variety of beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). And, some of the most delicious oysters I have found.

I have been here many times and it never dissapoints. Just truly one of those experience establishments. I love that each time I go there seems to be different oyster options, and the people are lovely there. 10/10!

Oh. My. God. I've never had any oysters like this!! If you love oysters, you MUST come here. I tried a little bit of everything. The jumbo ones were amazing but VERY hard to open. Yes you have to shuck your own. It's fun once you get the hang of it. Amazingly delicious!

I read about this place on Yelp prior to visiting Maine so I made sure that it was added to my itinerary and I'm glad I did. My husband and I went for the oyster tour and then ordered some oysters after. The tour was very informative, I would recommend it if you've got time on your hands. The oysters were great and the staff will teach you how to shuck if it's your first time. Loved this experience and I surely want to come back here when I visit Maine again.

Amazing amazing experience, if you're in the area it is an absolute must go! Delicious oysters and such a cute setting. The staff was so nice and friendly, showed us how to shuck the oysters in detail. The price can't be beat, especially for how amazingly fresh they are. Love the homemade mignonette! Wish more places offered this experience!

Holy amazingness!!! This place is right off the main road and is one of the BEST and most AMAZING experiences I've ever had. You can pick your oysters, beer and/or wine and then sit out on beautiful picnic tables and a schuck yourself and enjoy!! We had so much fun!! They show you how to schuck and they provide you with your own gloves and knives. The mignonette is so fresh and delicious and made with cucumbers and lemons and cocktail sauce is provided too. The oysters range from $1.00-$1.50 and are worth every penny. We are now spoiled as these are the freshest oysters we have ever had!!! What a fun activity!!! The people and staff are so friendly and amazing too. A must see if you're in the area!

Our stop at Glidden Point was the highlight of our Maine vacation. Fresh, ice-cold oysters, wine, beer, reasonable prices, and shaded outdoor seating. We could have stayed all day! We stopped with a large party of 11 with 6 of those being kids. Ate 5 dozen oysters and wanted more! If you like oysters, it doesn't get any better than this place!

Great spot to eat oysters, drink a can of beer, and view the beautiful trees and river. It's a small, old building, with picnic tables in the back. Pick your oysters, and be prepared to shuck them yourself! Ask for a lesson, and the clerks will be more than happy to show you how. Grab a can of beer or cider, and enjoy the weather and sun. Worth a stop.

If you can, do the tour! It was so informative and really great experience. You can't beat their prices to shuck your own oysters that were recently harvested. We always make a stop here while we're driving along route 1. It's worth a detour. Cute and quaint. Friendly staff. Bring a cooler bc you're going to want to take oysters home with you.

I came upon on this by accident, and as a fan of oysters, I decided to check the place out. Little did I know I would leave with a new skill - shucking oysters. During these Co-vid times, you can make a reservation for a table, and while I was able to snag one, I would suggest doing so if you are planning on coming. They have 3 types of oysters as some other snacks and drinks - both alcoholic & non.

First time at Glidden Point and we were not quite sure what to expect. When you drive up to the farm you enter the main barn door where you are greeted by a member of their staff. We were able to choose the oysters of our choice, our favorite however, was the Glidden Point (the ones they farm themselves) you choose you sauces, drinks (yes they have beer and wine!) and your tray is served. They lent us a pair of clean gloves and taught us how to shuck our own oysters. They were fresh, delicious and the perfect balance of sweet and salty. Their outdoor bench area was the perfect apt to enjoy them and after we took a little walk to the dock. HIGHLY recommend a fun and delicious experience.

Do you like nice people? Do you like pretty scenery? Do you like AMAZING oysters on the half shell? If you said yes, then you should definitely make the detour to this place! It was a chance find, and I'm so glad we found it! I plan on having delicious oysters shipped down to me in Florida for special occasions from this place. They were THAT good. And trust me, this place is not long off from getting written up in travel blogs and magazines. It is so dang fun! Just know, you have to shuck your own oysters (which is fun!). They will show you how to do it too if you need a lesson:)

Stopped in on way to Belfast. Ordered a dozen oysters(not briny, thankfully), orzo pasta salad and 2 beers. Sat at a table, sucked our own and enjoyed the view. Fantastic! Will be back.

Had Glidden Point Oysters at a small intimate ceremony in Nobleboro. They delivered them and Joel Spinney manned the oyster bar. They were delicious and everybody enjoyed them. Thank you Ryan, Joel and Bobby!
