There is a bar near the hotel, so it is loud at night. Windows in rooms are closed and there is a very loud air conditioning that can’t be turned off. The temperature could not be reduced below 21 degrees. We tried to do it in four rooms. There is no wardrobe or a night table with drawers. The elevator has neither Braille markings, nor audio information. There is no handrail on the stairs between the ground floor and the first floor. There are no ear mugs in the rooms and restaurant, so it's difficult to carry a hot drink. From the positives there are telephones in the rooms and you can call between the rooms. Tasty breakfasts and afternoon snacks. A large selection of teas, including cinnamon. You can buy lunch and dinner at a good price. Restaurant and reception employees are very helpful, kind and open to the needs of guests.

Super cool and unique location, with breakfast included and option to include lunch and dinner buffets. Coffee in the lounge as well. Rooms are nice and clean, and gym is better than most hotel gyms with a smith machine, cables, dumbbells, and cardio machines. Staff is super friendly. Recommend!

My wife and I stayed at the Home Hotel Jugend in Helsinki for one night recently while on a tour of Scandinavia. The hotel is not very close to the harbor (maybe 0.75 miles), but is well located with regard to the many restaurants and retail shopping nearby.||The exterior entry and the old portion of the hotel are quite striking and appear (castle like) older than the hotel’s actual age. The room in which we stayed was quite large, clean and modern, with a business hotel appearance and feel. Our room was in the newer wing of the hotel. The only interesting room feature was that the shower had glass walls which were the only separation from the main room, which you could see into from the room. There were some obscuring texture/spots on the glass, but we found it a bit unusual. Otherwise, the bathroom was well equipped and had a lighted makeup mirror that was wall-mounted. Of note for other Americans is that as with most hotels in Scandinavia, wash cloths are not provided. The shower was a rain shower type with excellent flow and pressure.||We had the buffet breakfast in the hotel which was slightly below average in variety, but of good quality. They had excellent coffee!

I absolutely loved my stay. The room was spacious, beautifully designed, and incredibly cozy—perfect for relaxing after a day in the city. The staff were genuinely kind and attentive, making me feel truly welcome.

A nice hotel with a great location (go straight for 15 mins to the port and city centre), good rooms, quite standard for the price. Meals are ok'ish - normally I see better breakfasts in Scandinavian countries. One big disappointment was that the room was not ready for the checkin at the check-in time (and even shortly after) - have never experienced that in any hotel in my life (so far). Besides that good place to stay.

I had a deeply unpleasant experience at this hotel, mainly due to the behavior of one staff member, Irina, whose attitude made me feel like I had checked into a Soviet-era government facility rather than a four-star hotel. Her dismissive, cold manner and heavy-handed approach completely ruined my stay. Before arrival, I sent two messages with my estimated arrival time and a question about dinner options since my booking included dinner. I received no reply, and when I arrived, dinner was already over. During check-in, I asked if I could instead have a packed dinner the following day upon checkout, as I had a long journey ahead. She agreed. Not only did she fail to arrange this, but when I politely inquired about it the next day, she shouted at me in front of other guests. I had to ask her to calm down, as her behavior was shockingly unprofessional and aggressive. She offered no apology and acted as though it was my fault for her mistake. Even the “room upgrade” I received was revealed to be due to overbooking delivered in a way that made it clear it wasn’t a complement rather a huge favor (again on their mistake). Overall, there was a complete lack of hospitality, warmth, or basic service you would expect from any hotel, let alone one rated with four stars. My advice: Avoid this place unless you enjoy being shouted at or time traveling to a Soviet state.

Very nice stay. This hotel re-branded between booking and arrival. The lobby and original building dates to the Art Nouveau (Jugend) period and is in exceptionally good shape. Virtually all of the rooms are in a much more contemporary building that is attached. |The staff at the desk are exceptionally engaging and helpful. |The breakfast buffet covers the range with a variety of hot and cold dishes - all freshly prepared. They also offer an evening meal which we did not use (spaghetti, burgers, etc) It could be a nice way to reduce travel cost.|It is an easy walk to most of the center city tourist locations. The transit pass makes is quite a bit easier to go to the edges and gives the quickest option for travel to the airport.

The name of this hotel was "GLO art hotel" when we visited it.| We enjoyed the excellent location since the most places of interest in Helsinki were at walking distance.| The building is nice (former student's residence). My room was average sized. However the bathroom was small and uncomfortable. A big disadvantage was the non daily cleaning of the room. The room equipment was good.| We had a dinner and a breakfast there. Both were just good without much inspiration.|The staff was kind and helpful.| It is just a good hotel to enjoy central Helsinki.

Yelp
A very nice hotel marred by a couple things. First, the many key-card access doors standing between you and your room. I feel like I'm at the headquarter of CONTROL rather than a guesthouse. Second, internet access requires registration with a email address which expires after 24 hours. Quite annoying when you have multiple devices. As another reviewer points out, this is not a $$$$ hotel. Rates for my room range from 80€ to 90€. It's much more spacious compared to rooms at other hotels in the area in at the same price range. Full-size shower stall is especially nice.

Yelp
Super trendy fun hotel, though it looks old looking/castle-like. Deep lovely bathtubs, excellent bar and breakfasts. Parking: The hotel had a parking garage. Service: The hotel staff were quite friendly. Food: We ate the breakfast offered at the hotel, which at the time was upstairs. The breakfast included: pancakes, breads, yogurts, dried fruit, lactose-free milk, coffee, juice, water, granola, fruits, oatmeal, hardboiled eggs, scrambled eggs (did not look good). The yogurts offered were of multiple variety. Atmosphere: Looks super old school from the outside with interesting architecture, but once in the room, it is super modern. The room was roomy. The bathroom included a bidet, and our bathroom had a lovely deep bathtub. My sister's room did not have a tub, but they had a rain shower style shower, which she and her husband loved. Cost: moderate to expensive. Location: Fantastic! This location was within 10-20 mins of walking distance of everything. We walked to museums, the market, and more. Fitness Room: This is a major downfall. There is no fitness room, and one can pay 5 euros to go to the gym around the corner, called Twenty Four Seven (so pretty good hours!) However, the front desk person told me that they only had one card, so only one guest could go at a time(??) The fitness place was pretty decent, though small.

Yelp
My traveling partner Karina and I stayed here after we came back to Helsinki from Rovaniemi. It's a cute little hotel with a good breakfast that's included in your package. The rooms are nicely decorated and very modern. I really liked this hotel, as it reminded me of a castle. It's in downtown Helsinki and walking distance to a lot of things. Definitely a cute little hotel to check out. Happy travels my yelping amigos

Yelp
Kind of a dump - and an expensive one at that! Good location in Helsinki, walking distance to restaurants but dingy and dark ambiance. Next time I'll stay at the Radisson Blu.

Yelp
Found this hotel in Rick Steve's guide. Decided to pay a little bit more for a nicer place than some others I found. First off, it is not $$$$. I believe we paid only $130 Euros a night, albeit during early October which is off season. Upon arriving, the staff gave us a free upgrade to a larger room. We were staying 3 nights so they felt we needed more space. Um, Awesome?? They gave us GREAT recommendations for a local laundry place, and Sauna. The breakfast here is included, and pretty nice. The room was very nigh tech, had a Vegas style shower, and the lighting alone made the stay special, had numerous cool settings. Great location as well, just a couple blocks from the Esplanade. Simply put, some of the best service we had on our whole Europe trip.

Yelp
Great hotel with great staff. The security of their internet could be better, and cable for the wired connection visible in the room could be offered in room. Also, the Internet tends to log you out after 24 hours and can be very frustrating to reconnect to. This can hamper work if you are working in your room. As stated elsewhere, this is extra annoying if you have multiple devices as you may not realise a phone has logged out. Many rooms lack fridges, which is a bit of a let down. The surrounding restaurants and night life are very good. The breakfast buffet is fantastic and the doggie bags a very welcome touch. Breakfast staff are uniformly lovely. However, the door policy for the buffet is a little too strict. Arriving down 8-10 minutes later to a locked door, with the sounds of people still eating inside is a little too strict if you have paid for breakfast and some provision should be made. Everything is in walking distance. The hotel bar is nice but encumbered by Finnish licensing laws that prevent it being open after 1:30. This also means no room service alcohol after this time. If staying in rooms 500+ it can be frustrating for a smoker as the walk down is annoying and involves keycards. They could use a fitness room. However, the hotel has some of the best, most helpful and friendliest service of any hotel I have stayed in Helsinki.

Yelp
This remains one of my favorite places to lay my head. A stunning arts and crafts lobby hides that the hotel is actually a collection of several buildings. Every room I've stayed in has been top notch. The staff are a hotelier's dream come true, breakfast is astounding given the space they have to work with - and tops many bigger hotels in Helsinki. The lobby is a great place to warm up in the winter with a drink. Also, it's a solid value for a hotel in the middle of the city but and a relatively quiet street in the Design District. Pro tip: turn right when you walk out and walk down a couple of blocks for a great lunch at one of dozens of small eateries in the Old Market Hall.

Yelp
Small, rooms, ridiculously small beds, little hospitality, and few communal places. Would never to stay again. It's no slum, but it is profoundly mediocre.

Yelp
a really nice place to stay some nights in Helsinki, long distance to the airport, but direct acces to the city by foot. breakfest an room are great, the service too. a small lunch on the bar is available if you haven't got a open restaurant because of walking around in the city :-)

Yelp
Very friendly people downstairs at the front desk. From my experience so far fins seem to be the lost friendly Nordic people. Anyways the hotel rooms are really modern and clean. The shower is very nice as well. I would recommend this place to anyone!

Yelp
i'll be honest...we got suckered in by the "renovated castle" concept what lady doesn't want to live in a legitimate castle for a night?!? room//**** renovate indeed~ the rooms are super modern and space efficient reminds me of the small hotel rooms of tokyo *note* ironically, the one person room is larger than the two person room even though the bed size is the same average size flat screen w/ your typical amenities fun bonus: bed lifts up and down sorta like a massage chair oh and you can buy the stuffed toy for a RIDICULOUS €25! it's NOT that cute security//***** if you go through the front entrance....you need to swipe your room key at 3 separate locations before you get to your door....talk about super secure! breakfast//** if you pay for breakfast, it includes yogurt, breads, cheese, and a few salad items where are the poached eggs, bacon, and other "continental breakfast items"? a la carte- you must PAY additional for each item (WAIT!! i thought i already PAID for breakfast?!) guess not...pas de petit déjeuner pour vous the breakfast area in the basement is the only part that resembles any sort of castle aside from the exterior location//*** located in the design district, SO if that's your thing then you'd be delighted! helsinki is a very walkable, and the location is close enough to the city center ~*~ honestly, in some ways it was good that it the rooms were modern...but in some ways i think their selling point is lost as well...i'm so torn! but a lovely experience nonetheless ps. stop by the old library nook to the left of the entrance for a feeling of old world athenaeum!^^

Yelp
I stayed here recently for a stopover for one night from Ireland. I had been to Helsinki before and it was simple and modern, just the way I like it. It was a bit away from the train station, but the cab ride was approx 11 euro and well worth the price considering I had a 23kg suitcase to lug around. I booked a smart room which is a small room similar to the size of my apartment in San Francisco, but I liked how the bed was motorized and I could adjust it while watching television. The only drawback was that my room was in the adjoining building and was quite a walk to the room. But it was cool walking thru the hotel with all of the automatic doors with keycard entry. Unfortunately the restaurant was booked for an event for dinner so I had to eat a burger in the bar. The burger was good and the service was excellent. I think the staff was very helpful and informative. I would highly recommend if you want to stay in a quiet and clean hotel with a very modern feel.

Yelp
Very friendly staff in a cool hotel in a great location- all the ingredients for a nice stay! The building is very unique & the rooms were clean & new. We upgraded to a King suite with a large pull out sofa bed. The staff set up the bed for us which was a nice extra. The included breakfast was one of the best we've enjoyed.

Yelp
This was an amazing hotel and the breakfast was the best I've ever had. The hotel service was also great and let us check in a bit earlier. Very happy of our stay and will be back for sure!

Yelp
The rooms were TINY, but very well decorated and comfortable. You can barely turn around in the bathroom, but it was also very well appointed and offered nice bath products. The breakfast was great. Good location near the city center.
