Great service & apps!!! We got oysters and scallops to start with. The sauce paired with the scallops was so good 😋 scallops were cooked to perfection. The oysters were delicious! Our mains were a little disappointing unfortunately. Tasted like it was lacking flavor & my fish lacked a sear and was kind of dry. My husband didn't enjoy his chicken either. Other than that, it was good! Cocktails, service, apps & dessert get 5 ⭐️ from me.

I have high expectations at a Fairmont hotel restaurant. The photos are of a turkey club house sandwhich. This should typically at the globe be a slice of fresh roasted turkey. For some reason we were served the shavings from the carving process. Coupled with a bread soaked in butter and my wife just finished regurgitating her dinner. The steak that should have been medium rare was blue rare still good but the melted butter on top not to my taste. Mushrooms and asparagus were good. Shrimp cocktail very good. Calamari ok. They did remove the un eaten club house from the bill however the expectation of great at the Fairmont is at best an ok overall. $200.00 with tip for meh...

We always stay at the Fairmont YVR before our vacation. We usually dine here also. The cocktails are expensive but top quality. We had excellent service for both dinner and breakfast. The atmosphere is always lovely with the live guitar. I ordered the 12oz strip loin for $58. I ordered it medium rare and it came medium-well at best. I have definitely had a better steak elsewhere, but none the less it was tasty. My husband had the Poke bowl with tuna for $34. All in all, it is pricey for what you get. The breakfast was delightful. We split one breakfast tower for $44 which included one hot entree and we added a fruit bowl. Plenty of food for us both.

The afternoon tea experience at Globe at YVR was delightful! The ambiance is truly special, with stunning views of the North Shore mountains and watching planes take off from the glass windows - it's a unique experience. The customer service was top-notch, from the moment we stepped into the elevator to the attentive host and our server, Cristinica, who was incredibly resourceful and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. The three-tier display plate was a feast, offering a wonderful variety of treats that were fresh and delicious. Blueberry and Cranberry scones were delicious with cream and berry compote. From savoury and sandwiches my favourites were Quiche with Salmon Caviar, Truffle & ham with mushroom and crispy Prosciutto. Among sweet treats my favourite is the Tart with light chestnut and Pana cotta with raspberries and Bailey infused dark chocolate. Tried Grand Bazaar spice tea and thoroughly enjoyed it. Although the price may be a bit steep, I can confidently say that the experience is truly exceptional. Whether you're looking to relax before a flight or celebrate a special occasion, Globe at YVR is a must-visit destination. Highly recommended.

I always try to stay and dine at the Fairmont YVR airport hotel if I have an early morning flight. The hotel is fantastic and the meals at Globe @ YVR are usually pretty good. I love to watch the planes as I eat. Last night I went to dine with a friend who was staying at the hotel (I was being treated to a meal as I had dropped him off). Unfortunately, we witnessed our server Melissa being abused by a difficult customer who was dining alone next to our table. She was having steak and sent it back because it was not satisfactory to her liking. Fair enough. But she made a stink about the entire experience and even got the manager involved. Really? They comped her the expensive meal and she stormed out. Both my friend and I had the three course prix fixe meal and it was one of the best I have had to date at this restaurant (in the twenty plus years that I have dined here). The sirloin was prepared perfectly and the crab bisque and chocolate cake was excellent. It’s an expensive place, but our server Melissa did a great job and I was very happy with my dining experience. We all have bad days but that lady didn’t have to take out her frustrations on the staff and make a spectacle of herself. You do kill more flies with honey than vinegar. You did well, Melissa…think you for the great meal.

Google
Came here for the Valentine's Day afternoon tea. Our favorite was the savory sandwich and the chocolate cake. Love that they have a vegetarian menu since not all places have that for afternoon tea. Price is reasonable. They gave a little surprise with cookies as a small gift, which was greatly appreciated

Google
I got a good deal for their High Tea two for $85. It was nice to receive 2 hours of complimentary parking as well. First impressions, the restaurant has a very casual vibe compared to other High Tea places I've been too. We were seated by the window and had a view of where the airplanes are before they take off. Many people dressed casual with their luggages and a few kids around. The tea and the food came out fairly fast. Our server was polite, no complaints. There were more sweets compared to the savory items. Overall, the quality of the food was good but I was hoping for a more classy High Tea traditional vibe which I didn't get there. It felt more like a regular casual restaurant with just a few tables doing the High Tea. It was okay.

Google
We like eating at the Globe @ YVR restaurant located at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport hotel because of its convenient location when picking up or dropping off people for a flight. Be warned: it is expensive and they seem understaffed so service can be slow for both lunch and dinner. However, the food is generally well-flavoured and they offer more unique recipes than other typical restaurants. I do like the dinner selections more than what’s offered on their lunch menu. Despite the negatives, I do find it a relaxing place to enjoy a meal in a nice airport atmosphere.

Yelp
Max and I are on a Fish and Chips expedition. It was good, but I've had better. The Cole slaw was very good.if you don't like ground mustard, you may not like it. Can we say, yes to the drink?! This restaurant is located inside the Fairmont Hotel. The service was warm and friendly.

Yelp
I was anticipating a wonderful Father's Day Experience here and left extremely disappointed. Service was appallingly bad. To the point of being non existence. How can you staff a restaurant serving a Father's Day Experience Brunch special and only have what looked like 2 staff? Also, the greeter was rude and had an attitude when we told her the seats were dirty. The food took an age to arrive, and when it did there was no gravy for the 'biscuits and gravy' portion of the meal. We couldn't do anything about it because there was no staff available to ask. They were too busy running around the place due to understaffing. To make things worse, the delays in the food, the service and getting the bill made us late for our next appointment. And to cement what was an awful experience, the ticket given to us to exit the parking lot (they claimed to offer complimentary parking) did not work on multiple exit booths causing us to have to pay $56 to leave. Fairmont has really let us down on what was supposed to be a special occasion and stuck an unexpected $56 charge on top.

Yelp
One of my fave spots for afternoon tea! Been here countless times over the years, but I never tire of this place as they switch up their menus seasonally. We decided to visit again recently for their festive afternoon tea set, & I really enjoyed the savoury items & scones this time around! Service was excellent as always. Also love the 3hrs free parking at the airport (validated by the restaurant).

Yelp
I love Globe@YVR, it's consistently good and such a nice break from the bustle of the airport. I travel a lot for work, frequently with a night layover, and whether I stay at the hotel or not I try to spend a couple hours here. The drinks are great, with specials on rotation, the food is always quality and have gluten free options available, and the ambiance is especially nice, usually with live music. I highly recommend their turkey sandwich, in whatever form they have it.

Yelp
Following a tradition of sharing high tea in my visits with my mom - today's was at YVR just beside the runway where we got to drink tea, enjoy finger foods, conversation and the planes coming and going. Melissa was our server and she was lovely - made sure that everything was perfect for us including sending us home with extra scones to make up for the vegan scones which were not a hit. Other than that all of the food was delicious - I loved the cucumber sandwich and the butternut squash on a tiny baguette. We had a table by the window which was quiet and bright. It was not as cozy as some of the other high teas we've experienced but it was at an airport so not surprising. The Fairmont is known for its quality and this high tea did not disappoint.

Yelp
This is the second time I have visited this restaurant for afternoon tea. I really like the view, where we can watch airplanes taking off and landing, as the restaurant is located at YVR Airport. First, we chose our teas. I picked Vanilla Chai, and my partner picked Ontario Icewine. The Vanilla Chai has a strong vanilla flavor, is very creamy, and has a noticeable spice taste. I really like it. On the bottom tier of the 3-tier afternoon tea stand, we had truffle egg salad sandwiches, chicken rillette sandwiches, smoked salmon sandwiches, and shrimp tarts. The smoked salmon sandwich was very unique with pickled onion and cucumber. I liked the chicken rillette and truffle egg sandwiches, which were very solid. The shrimp tart was also delicious. On the middle tier, there were blueberry scones and cheese scones. These two freshly baked scones were really delicious! Both had strong flavors and I liked the scone texture, too. They were one of the best items. On the top tier, the dessert section featured Linzer cookies (with raspberry jam), chocolate éclairs, blueberry tarts, and almond financiers. The cookie was just okay. I liked the blueberry tart and chocolate éclairs. The almond financier could have been a bit softer and more buttery. Overall, I enjoyed the afternoon tea with the nice airport view. My last visit was a few years ago, and at that time, the portions were a bit larger. However, I understand that recent food prices are higher. I do appreciate that they provide a large tea portion, possibly one of the largest teapots I've ever had at afternoon tea. I might try a different menu on my next visit.

Yelp
Great food - a bit pricey but solid. Great drinks available and wines cool view - they have live music often here and I love to hang when at the fairmont hotel. Service is usually upper tier too. At the bar you get nuts like a classy place does. Love it.

Yelp
I came here for a weekday dinner to meet a friend who had a layover. Its very classy and peaceful! We sat at the bar, the bartender was amazing. I had a cocktail and a pint, the cocktail was a spin on the french 75 and it was so good. Shared a few appys as well, the dish that was fried seafood with tzatziki was also really really good! It was really busy there, and the service and timing from the kitchen was amazing. Its obviously a little spendy as its fairmont, but I thought the quality was worth it, as well as the calm atmosphere in the midst of a airport! There was a live musician, it was really nice.

Yelp
Came here on my way back home to relax for a couple of hours and have some lunch. Instead of my usual cheeseburger, I opted for the grilled cheese on sourdough with a side Caesar instead of the fries that would normally come with the sandwiches. Just the right amount of side salad with the cheeesy sandwich. Service was top notch as one would expect at any Fairmont restaurant!

Yelp
High Tea with a view of the planes heading off for adventure, what could be better? High tea here is $79/person and came with a tea each. Focaccia Bite - Interesting choice to have for high tea, it came in a separate cup that wasn't on the tier. The bread was cheesy and fluffy but the cheese sauce was disappointing because it was watery. Deviled Egg Salad - Not too strong on the mayo and I liked that it was in a little cream puff pastry. Asparagus & Truffle Cream Cheese - The toast on the bottom was a little stale but the truffle cream cheese helped balance it out. Even though I'm not a huge truffle fan, I didn't mind it because it was a subtle truffle flavour. Coronation Chicken - The chicken was flavoured with curry and it resembled a little savoury burger. I liked that there was a different flavour profile compared to the rest of the items. Shrimp Louie - little shrimp with caviar on top, need I say more? The filling was delish and the only negative is that I wish the tart pastry it was in was flakier Sweet Butter Scone - I liked this scone better than the apple cardamom one. It was buttery on the inside and had a crispy exterior. The clotted cream and strawberry jam were nice compliments. Apple Cardamom Scone - I liked that the dried apple chunks lightly sweetened the scone but I'm not a fan of cardamom so that's why I didn't like it as much as the butter scone. Lemon Tart - topped with a crunchy meringue, this lemon tart was tart but so nicely balanced by the sweet meringue on top. Ruby Chocolate Mousse - Super decadent ruby chocolate mousse! It was creamy and smooth, easily one of my fav desserts on the tier. Double Chocolate Gateau - If you're a fan of rich chocolate cake, this is the item for you! It's rich, decadent and fudgy all at the same time. While it was all those things, the dark chocolate aspect of the cake prevented it from being too sweet Blueberry Cheesecake - It had fruity blueberry flavour and a light graham cracker crumb on the bottom. Lightly sweetened, and creamy. Macaron - both of the macarons we had were perfect and we wished there were more of them!

Yelp
Elegant atmosphere with excellent service. The food was fantastic other than the over easy eggs were cooked over medium. Nice views out to the airport tarmac. Very convenient after a late night arrival and prior to leaving for the cruise port. This was a very nice way to begin our vacation

Yelp
Look, it's a rare situation in which I find myself desperate for pre-security airport food, but my journey brought me to this restaurant. Compared to the much more sterile and bland pre-security eateries I've been subject to in the past, Globe@YVR is far and away my favorite. View is special, service is nice, menu is pretty expansive without reaching true airport absurdity with respect to pricing. The poke was tasty. The kimchi slaw on the chicken sandwich didn't really work from a texture standpoint, and it was a totally mediocre offering. This was a pleasant enough surprise that I will surely mention it to friends, but to be worth a detour or to fully justify the cost, all of the entrees, and especially the handhelds, need to be elevated a bit more.

Yelp
After many many requests, high tea has returned! Thanks Groupon as we thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon high tea experience at the airport. (Haven't set foot in an airport for a while so it seemed a bit surreal). The creamy earl grey was excellent to start off our mini culinary adventure. The mushroom arancini was crispy and flavourful. I was going to go right into the sandwiches but was quickly corrected to start from the bottom with their scones. It seemed counterintuitive to start with something sweet but I'm not a high tea connoisseur. The butter milk scone was very good and I loaded on tons of Devonshire cream and jam. Next is the sandwiches and I quite enjoyed the beetroot-pickled deviled eggs. Loved the pickled flavour with the creaminess of the egg. The smoked salmon paired very well with the fig jam. On to the desserts! The double chocolate cake was very decadent and rich. The other highlight was the lemon macaron. I doubled up on the pumpkin mousse and cheesecake. Beautiful bites of calories... lots of calories. All in all, a great high tea experience while watching some planes fly in.

Yelp
Picked up their Thanksgiving meal for two yesterday and overall very happy Everything was packed very well, portions were generous (the mashed was a tad light compared to everything else but a decent portion). The cook and flavour on everything was ideal. Moist flavourful turkey that I presume was brined. Easy to pickup although I may have missed I was supposed to pick up curb side. For $100 plus tax and tip, decent value. Pumpkin pie (or can whose pecan) with chantilly also on point. I made a couple of tweaks to their reheating instructions. They suggest turkey at 300 for forty five mins with half cup of water. I used stock instead of water. The sides suggested 20 mins at same temp. I actually had to go thirty with the last ten at 350 to heat the beans and Brussels sprouts through. Sprouts didn't seem to have any bacon as described on the menu. Gravy was well executed and plentiful as well as velvety in texture. Everything packed in one box made it fairly easy to transport.

Yelp
Hubby and I came for high tea. The lounge is located in the Fairmont at the airport. Parking is the airport parking. They will give you a ticket at the lounge that comps your parking. Took us about 10-15min from walking from the parkade to wandering the airport to find the lounge. Once there, the lounge was spacious and bright. High ceilings and not noisy; saw a couple with their toddler in highchair next to us and didn't hear a thing, so kid-friendly. We sat by the window overlooking the parked airplanes. I chose their signature Jetsetter tea and that was quite tasty and smooth with the milk and honey provided. Hubby got the Grand Bazaar Spice and liked it more, but I found it had too much kick for what I prefer in a tea. For food, their menu changes every so often but I notice they don't do the usual cucumber & cream cheese or egg roll sandwiches, which is great as I preferred something different. We started off with a corn soup in a shot glass with truffle foam. My shot glass was chipped so good thing my hubby noticed before I cut myself. Could also not taste much in the truffle foam so it just added a weird texture. The 2 different type of scones offered were good. It came with 4 "sandwiches" that were bite sized; mostly tasty with good flavors but wish they were bigger. The mushroom grilled cheese was yummy! But the size was so small it was quite a tease. The 4 sweets were the same size as the "sandwiches". They were not too sweet. Liked the pannacotta and the mousse the best. We used a Groupon ($71 for 2 ppl). Even with a Groupon, this takes the high tea to comparable price as other high tea places regular price. The tea, ambience, and food was good (except for the corn soup), but portion sizes were small. It's definitely not worth their regular price but with a Groupon, it's OK.

Yelp
Second time having dinner here. They seem to care about their guests. Hostess was extremely helpful and very friendly. Abel and I both ordered the crab bisque & cippioni. Note the soup doesn't come with any bread or croutons. I honestly really think they should serve it with some kind of toasted crostini or crouton. It would really compliment the flavor. Unfortunately, they don't but you can purchase a loaf of bread for $10, or some sliced bread for $5. However the cippioni is served with a very nice toasted bread. Our server should maybe have mentioned that to us but it's not a huge deal. The food was good and service was polite. I'm sure we'll be back next year and I'll probably order the same thing as it is my favorite!

Roxana G.

Yelp
what a disappointment waited over an hour to be seated. my kids were starving and 10 minutes into dinner all we had been given was a glass of water and not even asked if we were ready to order. we were tired of waiting so we left and ordered room service which was much faster! ironically we checked in at 727 pm at 836 pm notification that table was ready 850 we walked out and went back to hotel room. ordered room service and was eating by 927pm. Not what I expect for Fairmont hotel establishment! Don't eat here!!!
google avatar

Chris B.

Yelp
Look it's crazy expensive but it checks the atmosphere box right away. The food was okay, the Calamari was bit over cooked to my liking but it wasn't bad. The burger is huge and so is the price at $28 dollars. The live music was great, if you are in the Vancouver airport check it out. The live band was playing red hot chili peppers, that gets an extra star from me.
google avatar

Yelp
Price/quality (2/4): Ordered the shrimp gyro on my most recent visit. The quality was pretty decent, but the same quality can be found elsewhere for much less. A bit of shell was also present--which shouldn't happen at that price level. The drinks were fine, though a similar markup is present at least for the simpler drinks. Service (1/1): Service was friendly and effective. Would I come here again: Yes, but only for items that are more difficult to prepare.
google avatar

Giovanni A.

Yelp
Ordered the thanksgiving harvest dinner for two to take home over the weekend. It was brilliant, lots of food, delicious and staff were excellent. Looking forward to Christmas offerings.

Yelp
Decided to bring my staff to a restaurant for Chinese New Year. As there was heavy snow, we decided to go somewhere close. Decided on this restaurant. The food here was pretty good. A little bit on the expensive side, but well worth the price as the atmosphere was great. Live music and a good team makes all the difference. The only complaint is the service. It was quite slow and we waited almost 30 minutes before someone came by. Overall, we would come here again as the staff really enjoyed it.

Yelp
I stayed at the Fairmont YVR after a week long trip across Canada for work. I was ready to be pampered, and Globe@YVR and their team definitely accommodated me! I started with a perfect boulevardier and oysters, which I know is not the usual beverage and oyster combo, but it's what I wanted. I followed with a nicely prepared steak with a beautiful regional red wine. I also added on the shrimp, which was a misfire--it was a little rubbery. The dessert was a nice capper and made up for the not great shrimp. Service was appropriately friendly and attentive, especially as a solo diner. I hope to return when I'm back in the area!

Yelp
Nothing irks me more than a place that offers breakfast till 11 but ends the bbuffet at 10. So annoying. So ended up settling for the V omelette. Pains me to say it might have been the blandest thing I've ever had. It had zero flavor. The single roasted tomato atop the 1/4 of a potato hash brown triangle doesn't even come close to settling up the 25 dollar price tag it boasts. The omelette was told to me as being a 4 egg omelette there's no way, 2.5 at best. I love paying for food. However this time, made me cringe. Sad when you leave breakfast and grab and apple and banana on your way out.

Yelp
I have been longing for Sable Fish for the longest time. But I'm glad that I finally found the perfect place for it! Our family had dinner at the Globe@YVR while staying at the Vancouver fairmont hotel at YVR. And I'm so glad that we did. The dining experience was wonderful. The service was exemplary. Upon arrival, we were seated quickly. The kids were given their activity book and crayons. It allowed us to go through the menu without too much interruption. Their menu had a wide selection of quality tasting dishes. Considering the quality and portions of the food, the dishes were priced reasonably. We started with the $22 crab cakes. I ordered the Sable Fish $38. My hubby had the porkchop, our kids had Mac n Cheese and Chicken Fingers and milk. My Sable Fish was served with sautéed mushrooms. It complemented the fish quite well. The fish was juicy and it just melted in my mouth. It was glazed with a sweet miso sauce. Both our kids ate most of my food. They loved it as much as I did. The porkchop was cooked to perfection! I never had porkchop so tender, juicy, and tasty. This is a must try. It came with different veggies and mashed potatoes. I am not a big fan of Brussel sprouts, but I couldn't help taking most of them from my hubby's plate. The ones that came with the dish were grilled and had a light salty sauce that just brought out a refreshing taste for these tiny greens. We ended up with a $132 CAD bill, but I think it was so worth it. Given the opportunity, I would go back to dine at this place again and try the other tempting diishes.

Joe M.

Yelp
From what I can tell from Yelp pics, the menu has been curtailed. Having dinner here on a Sunday night and it's highly mediocre. Burrata was ok, but only some of the tomatoes were ripe. I got much better ones at the IGA in Ganges. The mushroom risotto was disappointing. Good size portion of rice with no mushroom broth (tasted like it was made with water), few mushrooms and few "olive oil packed tomatoes". At least those tomatoes were ripe. Very bland. The bright note were the cocktails. Decent Negroni ans an interesting caramel old fashioned. I won't have that one again but they get points for trying. Waiter was nice but not particularly engaged. The kitchen runners were very nice. The room is great--excellent views of the mountains and Cypress Ski area. Live music in the bar was above average talent for a lounge singer. Over all I'll look elsewhere for dinner my next trip.

Yelp
I went to the afternoon tea at fairmont YVR with a couple of friends yesterday through their group on deal. The waiter was nice and seated us near a window. The decoration was absolutely beautiful and had a elegant touch to it. The afternoon tea menu had a bit less variety than I expected but the teas were amazing. Dragon well is a must try! Overall experience was quite nice although in the end the waiter kind of came to us and brought us the bill when we were talking really excitedly.

Yelp
We came here for the afternoon tea which we purchases on Groupon. Overall it was a good experience, the food was tasty, service was good, and it was a very relaxed atmosphere. Don't think we would come back without a Groupon, though.

Yelp
It's not every day when you sit down at a table near the window, and look out to see not only a wonderful distant mountain view, but American, Delta and Air Canada planes at their gates, while planes taxi out to the runway and some are arriving. That is one of the highlights of this location, and makes it unique among "airport" restaurants (although technically, it and the Fairmont Vancouver Hotel of which is part are adjacent the airport and not IN it). The close proximity to YVR isn't distracting. It appears that like the hotel rooms, the windows are soundproofed, so need worrying about plane engines drowning out your conversation. Onto the meal. On this occasion, I only ordered two items. First was the beer bread: oven warm, fresh, homemade tasting, and with 2 or 3 butters to try on each I tore from the small loaf. The entree was a pork belly on polenta with mushrooms and an maple cider sauce; I had first requested no summer squash as I'm not a fan, but there was only a little, so it wasn't a distraction. This dish is also gluten free in preparation, like a few of the selections on the menu. The pork belly was meaty with just the right amount of fat, and the polenta was a nice addition. I'm just sorry there wasn't more of the belly as it was so good; a few slices - that's it. No room for dessert I'm sorry to say - the menu looked wonderful. Service was on the mark. My server was polite and professional, without the need to stand over me at every turn. While I wouldn't go WAY out of my way to come here (it's in Richmond, a suburb of Vancouver and is approximately a half-hour or more from downtown depending on traffic), should I stay at the lovely Fairmont Vancouver again, this would be my place to visit for a chance to spoil myself just a bit.

Kristie W.

Yelp
We had a fantastic burger experience here! I would highly recommend the BEEF BURGER with its sweet Brioche bun, 1/2 lb of juicy beef, and crisp lettuce. My only comment would be the bun couldn't stand up to the beef, and quickly became soggy and greasy. The QUINOA BURGER was also interesting and satiating with its thick quinoa avocado patty and thick slice of Halloumi cheese. You would be paying $25-$30 for these burgers (including a side of fries or salad), but you'd be dining in a quiet, spacious restaurant with floor to ceiling windows, so it's a nice treat once in a blue moon. ;)
google avatar

Marie R.

Yelp
Staying the night at the Fairmont. Had lunch with several people. Service at Global was very accommodating. The soup of the day (Tomato red pepper cream). Many of the crew ordered the Jetside burger. The bun was way too big for the size of burger patty. The fish and chips was perfectly cooked. The container of chips/fries could provide a bit more fries. The salmon was done to perfection. Overall - the food is good and the service is Great!

Yelp
My afternoon tea experience with the Globe@YVR was disappointing. MAKING THE RESERVATION: First of all, I had some problems making the reservation for the afternoon tea. When I called their restaurant's number, I was redirected to the main Fairmont YVR switchboard. The switchboard girl told me she could make the reservation for me. I told her I wanted a 4 pm reservation. She told me that the time would not work because the afternoon tea ends at 4:30 pm so I would only have a half an hour. My understanding was that afternoon tea is served until 4:30 pm and that you could still remain in the restaurant afterwards. I told this to the switchboard girl and she made the reservation. I was not very confident so I tried to call the Global@YVR to confirm this. I called two other times and was never able to talk to someone at the restaurant. I was redirected to the switchboard every time. THE FOOD: The afternoon tea was good but standard afternoon tea quality. Nothing really stood out for me. I did enjoy the strawberries that were provided to compliment the tea. I also liked the tea timer that was given to us. THE SERVICE: There were not many people in the restaurant when we were there. In fact, there was just only one server for the restaurant. In the beginning, the service was good. The server brought introduced the tea, brought the tea timer, and introduced the afternoon tea items. However, he did not check on us during the meal and we really needed to get some more water for our tea!!! He was busy setting up other tables and we were not able to get his attention. THE BILL: I had a 2 for 1 voucher for the afternoon tea and I wanted to pay the excess of the bill with my Fairmont gift card. I had previously spoken to someone about a week ago at the Globe restaurant (when they were answering calls) that I was able to do so. Unfortunately, the server mentioned that it would be too complicated to process the voucher along with the gift card. Since the excess of the bill was small, he noted that it would be easier to use cash or credit card. If there are issues with processing a simple Fairmont gift card, the Fairmont needs to upgrade their IT system. That is pretty ridiculous for such a high end hospitality chain. The server mentioned that the Fairmont gift card would have needed to be processed at the front desk or something like that. I was disappointed that I was not able to use a Fairmont gift card at the Fairmont. Who would have known? My Yelp Elite friend and I decide to tip a lesser amount as a result. The server did apologize after he realized I paid a small tip and he offered us another 2 for 1 coupon as well as a few jars of honey. He did say thank you sincerely as we left. RECOMMENDATIONS: I guess this is a process issue in which Fairmont management needs to improve the staffing as well as their payment system. Afterall, it wasn't like I was using a traveler's cheque. I was using a Fairmont gift card to be used at a Fairmont restaurant!! Bad experience with making the reservation -1 pt Understaffed, inadequate service - 1 pt Inability to process my Fairmont gift card at the Fairmont -1 pt That leaves 2 out of 5 stars. Disappointing for a Fairmont experience.

Yelp
Have you ever seen a hotel in an airport? And by in an airport, I do not mean next to the airport, but literally IN the airport? This was a first for me. The Fairmont is just above the check-in counter for Delta, which was perfect for me as I had an hour to kill and it was lunch time. I headed up to the hotel and straight to the hotel restaurant Globe. Surprised to see that Globe does not get more love! How often can you have a nice dining experience with locally caught seafood at an airport? Not ever. The menu is quite expansive with everything from fish to sandwiches and salads. Seeing as this was my last chance to get quality seafood, I opted for the salmon bowl. I am gluten free and was bummed to see that it came out loaded with bread crumbs. They should definitely note that on the menu, as most people ordering fish are expecting it to be without bread. It was also a little more well-done than I would have liked. But the fish was great and fresh and it was on a bowl of rice with green onions, mushrooms and soy sauce. I also tasted the tuna poke bowl. Being from LA, I get a ton of poke and this poke just was not up to snuff. Sablefish with sake miso marinade, bok choy, daikon, king oyster mushroom, in a ginger dashi broth was the highlight. It was also the priciest dish on the menu, so that made sense. Service was very friendly and efficient. Definitely the best option while at YVR.

Yelp
To whom this concerns, I would like to firmly express my gratitude to our server Josephine. Josephine made my family and I have a wonderful experience even though there was confusion and mishaps that was not her fault at all. Information was not relayed to her properly and efficiently, however she accommodated and went above and beyond!! Please pass this on to management, I have left a review on your restaurant and I hope you value Josephine as a server and let her know how much she touched all of us to enjoy every moment of our experience with her tremendous customer service! She is truly a gem. Thank you Josephine and the staff at YVR. Our family and friends look forward to many many experiences with you because of Josephine. Let her know how dearest thank you. Yelp
Very nice restaurant, with exceptional service - exactly what you would expect from the Fairmont brand. The lounge area is very spacious and welcoming and they sometimes have live music. I've eaten here a few times and I've always left with the same impression... excellent food, fantastic service... and thinking to myself, 'holy cow, that was pricey'. I am not one of the wealthy people in Vancouver who can afford to eat at places like the Fairmont on a regular basis. This is definitely a save-up and splurge kinda place for me and so it's always a treat when I do get to go. My last visit (yesterday) was for the High Tea - using a Groupon, I must add. The regular price for the Afternoon High Tea is $54 for adults and $27 for children, so it's really nice that they occasionally offer a Groupon special that is $54 for two adults, including 2 hours of parking for one car. When I walked into the restaurant, I was immediately greeting with smiling faces and professional service. Even though using a discount voucher, the serving staff never made us feel like we were being 'cheap' as some other fine dining establishments have done. My friend was already seated, so the hostess showed me to the table. Our server was very nice, always with a smile on her face and so very polite and courteous. Such a pleasure! The selection of teas was fairly decent - I ended up choosing a chai tea and my friend chose an unusual smokey tea, which she really enjoyed. The food was served shortly after - 3 tiers of beautiful treats to indulge in. The savoury treats consisted of egg salad croissants, mushroom tarts, a 'rolled' ham sandwich and something else I can't actually remember now. It might have been smoked salmon mousse or something similar. The middle tier had 4 lemon/blueberry scones with clotted cream and jam, and the top tier had a selection of delicate desserts such as strawberry macarons, lemon tarts, chocolate cake and carrot cake with cream cheese icing. Everything was very pretty, and tasted really good. I don't think there was anything I disliked, although I did find the desserts a bit sweet for my taste. When the bill arrived, our server gave us two more 2-for-1 coupons for another afternoon tea, which was really great. I would love to take my mum here - I know she would love it.

Yelp
Globe is the only sit-down table-service restaurant before security at the airport since the White Spot closed. So if you're after someplace at the airport on the free-world side of security where you can sit down and be served, this is your only option. The good news is that Globe is overall a fairly positive experience. The service is friendly and for the most part professional and efficient. The food, at least for breakfast, was quite good. The breakfast buffet had a good range of options, all good quality and fresh. Omelettes made to order, waffles, eggs Benedict etc available for the asking. Menu items are nicely presented and arrive reasonably quickly. The room is nice, in that generic airport hotel decor kind of way. Prices are a bit on the expensive side, but considering that it's an airport hotel dining room, they're much what you'd expect, and frankly not radically more expensive than I recall the now-closed airport White Spot being. As a bonus, if you're having a meal Globe will validate your airport parking for up the three hours, so if you factor the significant savings on parking against the cost of your meal the whole thing works out quite nicely. I can't say that I'd necessarily make a special trip to the airport to have a meal here, but I would definitely come back the next time I'm at the airport.

Yelp
The food is ok. Security and safety? Not really. My wife and her visiting friend had late lunch here. Unfortunately, my wife lost her winter coat while having lunch. Hard to believe? Yes. Apparently, the coat fell from the chair and someone behind picked it up and took it with them. This was confirmed when they reviewed the video footage. It has been almost a week, the management has not come out with an acceptable resolution to the incident. This is such a disappointment since this place is supposed to be a safe and great place to hang out, but no, it is not. Apparently, they had a coat check but no one offered. The restaurant was not even busy during that time. So, if you happen to go there, hold on to your valuables as THEY ARE NOT SAFE THERE!

Yelp
I came here twice while staying at the Fairmont Hotel. One for high tea and the other for dinner. We had a $100 credit here, however, being non drinkers only used about a third of the credit. We had the well done steak. The steak took a while but easily ignored with the good company. They were nice enough to split the steak in two which still filled us up. The mash potatoes were to die for. OMG it was like they were kissed by the butter fairy. Steak was made to order with a lovely red wine gravy. I wasn't feeling the drinks which didn't have prominent flavour notes as assumed by the description on the menu. I didn't even finish mine. Service was great on both accounts.

Yelp
Came here for dinner with people from work. This restaurant has the potential to be so good. The set up is great and the view pretty amazing. Problem when we came is that they were understaffed and it took forever to get served and to get our food. In total we were there for over 3 hours due to the long wait times. The manager didn't seem to notice and did nothing until at the very end when our boss paid for the meal when he was asked how everything was. When he told him that we weren't that happy he asked what he could do, but it was too late by then. Good was good, but having to wait so long over shadowed it.

Yelp
Globe's New Years' Eve buffet is a wonderful fine dining experience. NY2018 was the second consecutive year we've attended and it has now become a tradition. We take an early sitting because we couldn't care less about the midnight hoopla. Reservations two months in advance are a good idea. The first course consists of all kinds of fresh seafood, and you can indulge to your heart's content. The main course is a chance to explore the chef's creations which are all delicious. There's a fantastic array of desserts to choose from. Dinner is around $150 pp tip included, drinks extra. Service is pleasant and discrete.

Yelp
Calling all Richmondites and international travellers Good news be told we've found your best restaurant at the airport So whether if it's dropping off your relatives or heading early to grab some food, if you have some time to spare head onto Globe@YVR located at Fairmont Vancouver Airport. Despite charging hotel prices, the food quality is a guarantee and surprisingly gives you value for money! This time around the menu had cioppino, striploin steak and lamb shank Their menus change from time to time and promises something for everyone to enjoy! Lamb shank was so tender and well braised each fibre simply tears apart, the steak cooked perfectly medium rare, and the cioppino had lots of seafood varieties with a strong tasting tomato broth Definite recommendation for anyone looking for a delightful surprise on your next meal. And did I say that parking is free and window seats with a view?

Yelp
It was our 10th anniversary so my wife suggested we should have high tea at the hotel where we got married. We met at this airport, got married here and it seemed natural to come here and celebrate the occasion. The service was professionally friendly, which you would expect from a branded hotel chain. The hotel rooms are top notch as we can attest. But the food... We were asked off the bat if we were to use the voucher. We didn't. We were there to enjoy, not to score on a deal (not that there is anything wrong with it). The tea was the only thing we needed to order. The tea was good. My 7-year-old ordered a peppermint, which she liked. Mine was the masala chai...bit on the weak side but that could well be just my personal taste. My wife liked her Jetsetter. The food came. And it was...uninspired. The bread for the sandwich tasted like wonder bread, bleached-white and squeezy. My daughter's peanut butter sandwich was Skippy - machine spun smoothness and sugary, accompanied with 5 pieces of Pringles Original chips. Our sandwiches were lackluster as well, under-seasoned, ice cold and simply not what you would expect from a brand like Fairmont. The scone was warm but we suspected they were microwaved as they tasted a bit dry. The clotted cream was clearly not made in house and neither was the jam. The top tray was the dessert and they were sickly sweet. They felt like they were from Costco - manufactured, overly sweet. We only ate a couple pieces and left the rest there. Our friendly waiter asked us if we wanted to take them home and all three of us said unanimously 'NO', perfectly in synch. The bill was $118 plus GST. We left a generous tip for the waiting staff but felt cheated by the lack of attention, passion and quality of the food. We instantly started to compared that with other afternoon teas we'd had before over the years: for half of that we got a beautifully brewed pot of tea and house made scones, jam and cream in the basement tea house at Westminster Abbey in London. I seldom have time to write a lengthy review like this but today on Boxing Day I felt propelled to say something. It's a dented experience and a direct criticism to their executive chef who designed this and his/her team who implemented it. We will put this behind us but if you ask me on value for money, one word came to our minds: appalling. If someone from Fairmont YVR reads this, please do something about it before more comments like this appear to damage the brand.

Yelp
I agree with the other three star reviews. Dinner for four here cost over $200. Just didn't feel worth it to me. Definite hotel restaurant pricing. Most my dishes were too greasy and charred. There is a fine line between seared and charred. This was charred as in burnt black on the edges. Combined with the excessive amounts of oil, it just didn't taste that good. They make a fair attempt at using local, seasonal ingredients. Dessert was great. Service was sadly lacking. For some reason it always felt like we had wait five to ten minutes for our server to appear and then another five to ten minutes for whatever it is to arrive. The server would forget things here and there too. Just odd for such an expensive place. The dinner took an excessive 3 hours to complete. It was probably twenty odd minutes before bread arrived. Thirty more minutes for main dishes. I would have rather ate in Gastown at this price level for this service and food quality. Only bonus was that we saw the actress Katherine Heigl having dinner at the other table.

Yelp
My husband and I love afternoon tea, so we decided to try Globes festive afternoon tea. We were expecting the usual lovely Fairmont high tea experience, but instead we left feeling ripped off! ( never a good thing! ) Instead of being served in the comfy lounge, tea was being served in the crowded dining room with its uncomfortable chairs and lunch buffet smells! The service was extremely slow and just downright neglectful ( we were not even offered drinking water! or any hot water refills for our tea!! ) The food took forever to arrive ( frankly, as it came I was reaching for my purse to leave ) and was extremely poor in both quality and quantity! We paid $95 for two teas ( with tip and tax ) and as we left I spoke with a nice ( social media? ) manager about our disappointment. He listened and agreed that a Fairmont should offer a better experience and wrote down my name and phone number, promising someone would call me the next day. Nobody called. The whole experience was extremely unusual, as we often stay at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport up on the club level, and have always loved the food up there ( and from room service too ). I've been staying at that hotel basically since it was brand new and have never had any bad experiences before! (If you want a great tea experience in Vancouver try the Shangri-la hotel lounge, the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, Bacchus at the Wedgewood, even the Sutton Place Hotel!)

Yelp
"The Fairmont Vancouver Airport welcomes you to our award-winning, signature restaurant." I'd like to know just what body is handing this restaurant any reward. Truly a disappointing venue. I've dined there 1-2 times for lunch in a pinch, and found the service to be below decent standards. 4 weeks ago, I sat in the lounge and waited for my friend at the spa 1.5 hrs. In that time period, not one server came to see if I wanted a beverage or snack. Fine by me. They didn't deserve my $ anyway. So, I got some work done on my laptop instead. The venue physically is not all bad. Well, I was invited to dine there for Valentine's day. I was nervous because I already did not think the restaurant was good. Well, let's just say, that although we had reservations for 2, the very un-cordial host would not give up a window seat. I couldn't fathom why not. We sat for 25 minutes waiting for our server, who was confused and indifferent. We ordered a soup of the day appetizer, only to be served a bowl of lemons, 30 mins into our experience..literally that was intended for another table. 40 minutes later, with all window tables still available, we weren't even served beverages (except 'tap' water as they phrase it), soup or anything else. After 50 minutes of burning frustration, we simply walked out. Do not bring clients or dates to this most ignorantly managed/served restaurant. You will be frustrated and/or embarrassed.

Yelp
I purchased a Social Shopper voucher for the Afternoon High Tea for 2 and wanted to use it before it expired. Part 1: Called to make reservations... I got the hotel switchboard and transferred to the restaurant, there was no answer and got back to the switchboard. The lady was very friendly and helpful when I mentioned I wanted to make a reservation for the following week. I gave my details, phone no., name, date and time and she mentioned that the restaurant will call me to confirm the reservation. 30 minutes later the restaurant called to confirm, along with asking me if we had any allergies or dietary restrictions. I found that very refreshing! Considering my bf does not eat pork and it's always a pain eating out and not given any options for him. I also asked about the parking and validation, all my questions were answered in a clear and friendly manner. Couldn't wait for my high tea date! Part 2: Went to Globe on the day of our reservation, and I must say we had a great time. The hostess and server Curtis were a delight and very friendly. Curtis asked if we had a voucher at the beginning and wasn't put off at all (recently read negative reviews about that). We chose our teas and the food came out in a pretty 3 tiered display (bottom tier - finger sandwiches, salmon, turkey, curried eggs, 2nd tier scones with Devonshire cream and strawberry jam, 3rd tier assorted desserts) . At first it looked so little, even my boyfriend thought we might have to eat at the food court afterwards lol. As you eat up to the the third tier of desserts, it was so filling. Depending on the tea you like, there's a a type for everyone. I had the Early Grey and tried my boyfriend's Dragonwell. As I am not a tea drinker, my tea was tasty! It fit with the finger sandwiches, scones, and desserts. Our view was of the plane hubs but in the background was the Northshore mountains. It's a nice place for a romantic rendezvous and good conversations. I would definitely come again, maybe next time for their a la carte menu, if for high tea, buying the voucher is definitely worth it, but not the full price of $42.00 per person. Thank you Curtis and staff for a wonderful experience!

Yelp
I returned again for the afternoon tea and again, using a Groupon, this time with a friend and her year-old baby. I've noticed prices have gone up for the afternoon tea; it was previously $45 per person and is now $54. I called ahead and the hostess reassured me that they were perfectly fine with babies at afternoon tea, and when we arrived they were quick to get a high chair for the baby along with a fun spill-proof cup with straw. The food this time around was actually better than previously and the sweets were a tastier selection; I liked the cheesecake. The scones were nice and soft with a nice serving of cream and jam. Service is attentive when the room is not that busy, but when they are helping you everyone is very nice and kind. I think there may not be enough servers for the size of the restaurant, however, as there was only one person running around taking orders most of the time and another person who would help deliver the food to the tables and go over the menu with you. The hostess during the afternoon tea was very, very nice though. My friend's baby got a bit cranky (as babies are apt to do in the late afternoon) and she was taking him into the lobby and was accosted by a rude diner on the way out; the hostess noticed and made sure that my friend was not too rattled and even brought over a cookie for the little one. Small touches like that make me appreciate that Fairmont does make sure to train all of their staff in customer service.

Yelp
Food was SOLID. yes, expensive but worth every single penny! We came here for our anniversary, and was blown away by the quality and flavor of the food. The sable fish was done to perfection, not overcooked, not undercooked, not overpowered with flavors. It was so memorable that I'm thinking about it a month after having it (which prompted me to write a well deserved review) We also had the seafood tower for 2 - the seafood was SO FRESH it tasted amazingggg. The little sauces that accompanied it paired so nicely. YUM The service was perfect- didn't bother us too much, but didnt leave us feeling ignored either. The server we had ( sorry, we're horrible with names) had the best recommendations. Over all, a great night, with great food and a great view!

Yelp
This is my favourite high tea place. It's always good and I like how they update the menu. I get the same tea (jet setter) everytime. I have never paid full price. There is always a Groupon for this place and when you go there they give you a 2 for 1 coupon. I do have to mention how their prices went up. Three years ago it was $39 per person and now it's $59. The service is good and the people are friendly.

Yelp
For an airport restaurant it is top notch, possibly the best I've ever visited. The problem is that for a restaurant in general it's just not that good. I started with the seafood chowder and found it bland with the majority of the seafood to be salmon. It certainly could have used more flavor but at least the broth was smooth and creamy. My main course was the salmon and it was thoroughly disappointing. The fish was dry and flavorless, I expected much better. The wilted greens were quite tasty but the root vegetables were tough. The lone bright spot in the meal was dessert. I had the Salt Spring Island chevre cheesecake and it was magnificent. I highly recommend it. Overall the service was very friendly and it certainly beat eating in the food court but if this restaurant was located anywhere other than the airport it would likely have closed.
