"Taking the Elevador da Glória. If you want to get a good impression of the historical city of Lisbon , and also see how small the city is, a must do attraction in Lisbon is to take the #28 tram, ‘elétrico 28′. This legendary tram 28 is a tourist attraction in itself. It goes all around town. Of course you can hop on and hop off whenever you want, but tickets are paid every time you take a ride. Beside the #28 tram, the easiest way to reach from Rossio Square to the Barrio Alto neighborhood, is by Elevador da Glória.(in the picture)"

Well if you are a first or second timer it is always good to take it for the top Miradouro. Short one but quite nice experience.

Great fun, this old time tram which makes loads of strange sounds but just adds to the experience! This is perfect for people who struggle with walking due to the steep hills, this takes you directly to Bairro Alto where you will find more authentic Portuguese restaurants and bars! This tram is included in the Lisboa travel card and the Yellow Hop on Hop off bus for free!

Interesting old Funicular tram, there are two trams that share the track and meet in the middle.

The Glória Funicular is a charming and iconic way to experience Lisbon’s historic streets! Connecting Praça dos Restauradores to the Bairro Alto, this funicular offers a scenic and nostalgic ride up one of the city’s steepest hills. The graffiti-covered tram adds to its artistic and urban charm, making it a great photo spot. Whether you’re exploring the vibrant nightlife of Bairro Alto or enjoying the stunning views from the top, this ride is a must for any visitor. A fun, unique, and historic Lisbon experience!

From this location you can take the Glória Funicular along the winding streets of Lisbon to the viewpoint at the top. The ride takes between 5-10 minutes and there are scenic views from the Funicular car throughout.

A nice old funicular if you are not fond of climbing the hill. Sometimes overcrowded, but all-in-all pretty nice, and can be used with daily transportation ticket

The funicular was not working so we went up on foot. A very steep hill but worth every bit.

Yelp
$3.80 to travel up and come down again in the funicular. Train came quickly & he waited until the car filled up. It got full very quickly. As one car went up the hill another went down. The ride was about two minutes long and scenic we passed all kinds of murals along the walls going up in a park once we got off.

Yelp
As well as saving your legs, this doubles as a great tourist ride and a bit of transport heritage to boot. Dating from 1885, the historic cars operate in pairs on a cable system, so one descends as the other ascends. Sadly, they're covered in graffiti but the interiors are authentic. The best way to reach the Barrio Alto. Expect queues in the summer and at weekends.

Yelp
Travel books, travel websites, and travel experts might over glorify this old rusty tram that takes you up a short steep ride. If you're in Lisbon between May and September, the tiny graffiti covered tram will be uncomfortably crammed with people like tin can of Portuguese sardines...watchout for pickpockets! Unless you get one of the few coveted window seats, you're not going to see much. Hopefully you bought a 24hr transit pass or Zapping pass(€1.25/ride), because this lift isn't worth €3.70 fare. If you're in good shape and there's a long line, you're probably better off hiking up the street. You'll want to burn off some of those Pastel de Nata calories anyway.

Yelp
5 stars for the technology. 5 stars for fun. 5 stars because I am a nerd.
