Gloria In The Great Hall

Really aesthetic restaurant. Friendly staff and amazing tasting brunch. We tried the famous french toast, steak and eggs, eggs Hemingway and eggs florentine, all tasted really really good. They come in generous portions as well. If you go with a big group I suggest sharing a French Toast with the table and also their brunch savory options.

Checked out the happy hour at Gloria ! The martinis are well priced and I enjoyed the vesper martini. I got there early as I know this is a popular establishment. I decided to try their French onion soup as well. It needed more salt in my opinion and was rather flavourless. I’ve had better. I’ve eaten here before and I have enjoyed the food for the most part. It did get louder as the evening progressed and it definitely seemed like a place people wanted to be seen. Overall I would rate this a generic good but not outstanding.

Made reservations for a party of three via a third party app. The text messages and phone calls that followed after were quite redundant. The ambiance of the place is quite cozy but it is very loud as previous reviews indicate. Although expensive, we did not have one bad savoury dish. However, I would skip the cherry dessert. It appears to be pre-portioned ice cream that is just topped with literally 3 cherries. It was underwhelming and almost frozen. The martini special was not highlighted, even though we were there during that time frame. Where this place lacks is the service. Although our server was pleasant and efficient, others walking about did not seem friendly and seemed focused on their regulars. One employee came to put fake candles on the table whilst we were eating and did not even greet us or say excuse me; no decorum/respect. I may return for the food but now that I have a better idea of what to expect, would be calling out any rude servers. Everyone deserves to feel welcome whilst dining in an establishment.

Gloria (in the Great Hall) Review — 8.2/10 Gloria is one of those places where the vibe hits immediately. The room feels classy and warm—low lighting, candlelit tables, and that old-world “grand bar” energy with a huge back bar lined with bottles. It’s a great spot for a date or a celebratory dinner because it feels elevated without being stiff. The only downside is it gets very loud once it fills up, so don’t expect a quiet conversation kind of night. Food-wise, everything came out feeling a step above average overall, with a few standouts and a couple misses. The bread + whipped butter was a highlight right away. The bread was super soft and glossy—almost brioche-like, and the butter felt delicate and airy (not overly salty, just rich and smooth). Simple, but done really well, and it matched the whole cozy, candlelit feel of the place. The onion rings were… fine. Pretty standard, nothing special—more of a “safe” appetizer than something you’d crave again. The mushroom dish tasted great and had that deep, umami richness, but it was very salty, to the point where it started to dominate after a few bites. Still good, just heavy-handed on seasoning. The mussels were nicely balanced—good flavour without being overly rich, and it felt like one of the more thoughtfully done dishes on the table. For the steak frites: the steak itself was perfectly cooked medium rare and had plenty of flavour, but the portion was tiny—felt like roughly 4 oz, which is a little underwhelming when you’re expecting something more substantial. The fries were the weak point for me: they had a burnt/over-fried taste, like the oil wasn’t as fresh as it should be, which took away from what could’ve been a great plate. Overall: Come for the atmosphere and the “night out” feel, and you’ll likely leave happy. The food is definitely enjoyable and above average, but there are a few execution issues (salt level, fryer/oil, portion size on the steak) that keep it from being truly top-tier. Still, I’d go back—just with smarter ordering.

It’s our first time here. The starters are pretty good and impressive, especially the steak tartare and the bread. However, we order one steak, onion soup, and a mushroom agnolotti. The streak is so small and not good as expected. The onion soup tastes like alcohol that’s make my friend cannot finish it. And the mushroom agnolotti is super super salty. And the server ask us to get the bill right after we finish, not even wonder why the soup is left which make my friend feels rush. Overall, so so food quality, not recommended…

We went here for our 15th wedding anniversary. The food was really good, they had a $10 martini special on as well. We had beef tartare for the first time and now we’re obsessed with it. The French onion soup was out of this world and the mains (duck confit & short rib) were great. They gave us 2 complimentary glasses of prosecco since it was our anniversary. We had a jumbo booth facing the front window so it was nice for ppl watching. It was a little extra $$ for an everyday meal but we will definitely be returning.

Dined as a party of 3 on Christmas Eve. As one of the few spots open in the city the night before Christmas, I can appreciate that the food was pretty good. Caesar salad and the bread are some of the best I’ve eaten in the city. The mushroom agnolotti was a little salty, so if you’re worried about that, skip it. Otherwise, I think all of the food here were seasoned well. This is the only redeeming part of the restaurant. Judging by the other comments and reviews, it should come as no surprise to you if your server lacks any hospitality skills. Ours wasn’t attentive (my pop- refillable- went unfilled all night) and it seemed like they didn’t particularly care about how dining experience (blasé attitude). 2/3 bathrooms had no hand soap! I’m shocked that an establishment as busy as it was had no hand soap in two out of their three restrooms. I used the restroom twice- once at the start of our evening, to wash my hands before eating, and then after, to freshen up. In that time period (an hour, overall), you would assume there would be a refill of the hand soap dispensers, but you’d be wrong. It’s crazy to me that there just wasn’t soap. I would recommend dining here if you are looking for something on a whim, with all other options closed, and IF you bring your own hand sanitizer. Also- don’t expect to be waited properly, despite the $75/per person price.

Such a gorgeous restaurant. I love the aesthetic here and the plates and drinks are honestly so cute. The menu is a little limited, but there are still a few solid options to choose from. The dishes we ordered were good, though I’ve definitely had better elsewhere. The bread, though, is incredible. You absolutely have to try it, it was one of my favourite parts of the meal. The service was also super nice and welcoming. Overall, definitely worth a visit with friends to take cute photos ;)
