A new type of French restaurant where the food isn’t fussy, the service is friendly and the ambience is welcoming! We loved the potato fritters, the pumpkin salad was a bit of a miss as some pieces weren’t cooked. The monk fish was fantastic, the risotto needed a touch more salt. I’m being nit-picky but really it was all wonderful! The cheesecake 🍰 was out of this world! 🤩 We would definitely go back! The service was great and it felt like a place we could unwind in!

The Grill Octopus of this restaurant is definitely a signature dish. It is made with minced black olive paste as the base, and the eggplant cubes and onion slices are grilled until soft. This way, the food has all its own seasoning flavors. The octopus meat itself is very firm and chewy, and it is not easy to get the flavor, but it complements the side dishes. Moreover, don’t miss the cheese cake which is quite special taste!

Delicious food and great wine selection. Service is warm and nice too. The pork chop and fries were unfortunately a little too dry but the rest was great.

We visited the restaurant for lunch. The foods are excellent while the price was not that expensive. Highly recommended

I had the pleasure of dining at this lovely restaurant, and it exceeded my expectations. The steak and octopus dishes I ordered were not only delicious but also perfectly cooked, with ideal temperature and texture. The potatoes were an amazing side, adding a delightful element to the meal. The ambiance was charming, and I highly recommend dining on the terrace to enjoy the cute view. Moreover, the staff were absolutely adorable, adding a warm and welcoming touch to the entire experience. I can't wait to return for another delightful meal!

Had an amazing meal here in Paris. Really amazing service from the gentleman waiter. Delicious food. Highly recommend!

The food and appetizers were exquisite. You should definitely go, you won't regret it. We went as a couple and got a window seat. It could be a great choice for a romantic date.

I think this was the cutest view/vibe we’ve ever had at a restaurant. We were placed at the window, behind a lavender bush, staring at the picasso museum in the sunlight. How romantic does that sound?? and there’s more: the food was absolutely delicious and very fresh. for starters we shared the stuffed zucchini flower and the fried artichoke. for main we had delicious, tangy pulpo and fish of the day with vegetables. They were quite cooled down though, that was the only complaint, but for the rest it was perfect✨✨ thank you!

Yelp
I am almost hesitant to write a review for this place, as it is one of those that are well hidden and frequented primarily by the locals, and with that still preserve their unspoiled charm. When meeting up with an old friend, we decided to stop by for lunch, and frankly, this was one of the most positive food experiences for me on this trip to Paris (of course, the company was a big reason for that, but the food and the ambiance played a role too). This is a tiny place, overlooking a neighborhood garden in 3 arr. and the Museum of Salvador Dali in the background, serving a highly seasonal menu that changes pretty much daily and offering a solid selection of wines from across Europe [I spotted a few of the Austrian labels I had a chance to appreciate before]. What's not to like... If/when I am back in Paris, I would gladly do a repeat.

Yelp
We had a perfect meal from start to finish. The market centric aesthetic is working. I had carrots with a light chèvre that were delicious. The chanterelles with an airy cream sauce, amazing. The octopus was grilled to a really good snappy texture, nicely done. The desserts both superstars. Their take on cheesecake was heavenly. Excellent service and a fun pleasant atmosphere. Good vibes.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped in for a glass of wine before dinner. Even though we just wanted a quick drink at the bar, we were immediately accosted by the lady Maïté D who very rudely said we had to be gone by 8:30pm as the bar seating was reserved. We ordered a couple of drinks and left soon thereafter felling somewhat victimized. It looks like a fun and popular restaurant/bar with a local following but hospitality in certainly lacking. Probably the lady in question had a tough day at the office.

Carolina C.

Yelp
This was so amazing. I absolutely loved the ambiance. The food was absolutely to die for. I would recommend anyone to go here.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this place during lunch time after shopping. The outside looked very nice so we decided to go in. The outside was painted mint green, which is easy to notice when you're looking for it. We were seated at a comfortable wooden table and our waiter was very attentive and quick. The inside of the restaurant looks small but there was enough space. It wasn't too busy. We ordered Guinea Fowl with fries and Monkfish tail (fish of the day), while for drinks we had wine and tea + sparkling water. The Guinea fowl was great, they brought a big piece which I unfortunately could not finish. The fries that came with the nicely cooked fowl was also tasty and had a side of ketchup. The monkfish tail tasted good, was soft and meaty. Did not smell or taste like fish even though was fish, which for me is a huge +. The monkfish was served on a plate of carrot purée which complimented the fish nicely. After food we went for dessert, the 3 scoops of ice cream. I chose vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate. Vanilla and strawberry were taste while the chocolate ice cream was a little strong for my taste. However, I'm sure if you prefer a more bitter chocolate taste - it's perfect. Overall the experience was great and I would recommend it to all visitors.

Yelp
My friends and I walked past Glou while we were doing some shopping nearby. We decided to do a late lunch here because we were at this awkward hour (2/3 PM) when most places were closed. Luckily, they had a table here and their menu of natural wines was interesting. We each got different things to share. * Red Tuna Tartare *Green Asparagus and Herb Salad *Breaded eggplant * Grilled Octopus My favorite starter was the green asparagus salad. The vegetables were so fresh and the buttermilk dressing was so delicious. We loved how light everything was. And of course, the grilled octopus was out of this world. Their wine list contained a lot of natural wines and was super delicious. The view in front of the restaurant is gorgeous. It made eating here especially pleasing and of course, the staff were all very helpful and spoke decent English which evened out our terrible French.

Aly K.

Yelp
A hidden gem we never heard about but walked by and was attracted by the interesting looking interior. We walked in and were able to get a table for dinner without reservation, but it gets pretty full so reservations are recommended. We loved Glou so much that we went back twice in a row so we could try everything on the menu. It changes seasonally and some dishes change daily. Huge wine selection. Absolutely loved the experience. Customer service was quick and polite. It was really easy-going, the food was intelligent and delicious, bread did not stop coming, we went through bottles of wine. Very unpretentious place and the food speaks for itself. Very delightful. One of my new all-time favorite places in Paris.

Emma H.

Yelp
One of the best meals i've had so far in paris, pricey (my meal was $24 not including my wine) , but with the view, i would say the price was worth it. I sat upstairs by the window and overlooked the Picasso Museum. Usually you would need a reservation to snag this spot. I was lucky to grab it. I ordered the Roasted lamb, eggplant caviar, and baby artichoke entree and it was amazing. The lamb was well cooked and the sides complimented the meal well. The cabernet sauvignon was a bit dry for my liking.

Maggie C.

Yelp
It's an intimate restaurant and I would advise making a reservation before coming. The menu is tiny but it's obvious all the food is newly made and fresh. All of the food tasted very "clean." The restaurant seems a little disorganized, but the staff were friendly. The fish of the day was very yummy.

Miriam W.

Yelp
When every other restaurant in Paris is closed because the proprietors have left town for their summer holidays, Glou will be around to serve you. Get a table upstairs next to the window and look out upon the garden below. And if you're in a meat mood, get the burger. Both of my companions went this route and lucky me got to nibble off their plates. Gazpacho is always hard to resist so I ordered a bowl and a plate of charcuterie. In an uncharacteristically accommodating manner, our server was happy to pack up my leftover meat to go. Given this Marais restaurant's popularity, booking a table in advance is recommended.

Christine B.

Yelp
Had a wonderful lunch at Glou. Great atmosphere and awesome service... Started off with razor clams in a parsley garlic Sauce. I chose the grilled octopus with anchovy and lemon sauce - Delicious! My girls had osso buco with roasted carrots and the special of grilled sausage, potatoes and green cabbage. Finished off with the recommended dessert - Cheesecake de Glou with Cherry Coulis...

Dana H.

Yelp
Yesssssssss!!!! Everything about this place. This became "our place" during our stay in the Marais. They welcomed us in, we sat at the bar, they helped us pick wines, they let us stay as long as we wanted, and they were good for conversation. The wines are fairly spendy, but the ambiance makes up for it. Plus the people in the shop are pros who will help you make a good decision. We never had a full meal, but we split a lot of the appetizers. Our favorite was the cheese and charcuterie board. The cheese is great, like all French unpasteurized cheese, and one of the meats was the best ham I've ever tasted. All of this was served with some great crusty bread. We came here to watch France win the 2018 World Cup, and this was the perfect spot. The wine was plentiful, the food delicious, and the service impeccable. A true gem in the neighborhood!

Jason N.

Yelp
Fresh, honest food served by energetic and knowledgeable staff. What's not to like? Smoked fish board as a starter is a winner. Great well priced wine list. Right behind the Picasso Museum with lovely park view.

Rachel P.

Yelp
Delicious! Gnocchi soup dish was outstanding. Healthy and hearty. Lentil balls also delicious. Excellent selection of wine. Fun and relaxed atmosphere!

Jessica C.

Yelp
Staff was friendly and helpful. Food came quickly. I ordered the cauliflower, which was probably the only vegetarian dish on the menu. It was really good, and a new way to eat cauliflower.

Stephen H.

Yelp
A small, clean, bright space in the Marais excellently decorated for dinner or apero, but also with some tables in the back with a sky light should you wish to drop in for coffee with some friends one afternoon.

J. Karim A.

Yelp
Our first day in Paris we were looking for a late lunch spot in the Marais. A lot was closed for the month but Glou looked good. We had a charcuterie and cheese platter which had a lot and was yummy. The chickpea croquette were interesting. And the sausage with roasted vegetables were quite good. A couple of outdoor tables which we liked given the nice weather.

Jordan I.

Yelp
My first meal in Paris couldn't have been more delightful. The menu, simple, and just right. The wine list, long, just as hoped. And the experience I had, which I hope you have, is to first-hand notice Terroir. Not just in the wine but in the food. So without waxing too philosophical about this meal, here's what I ate: the charcuterie, cote de boeuf, and the cheesecake. Everything was great! Perfect. Simple - the simple that's really really good. And the cheesecake, not like American cheesecake, was perfect, creamy and soft and not too sweet. Bravo Glou!

Kai B.

Yelp
Great place! Incredible food, great value, everyone but me was speaking French (waitress spoke perfect English though). 10/10 recommend!

Craig D.

Yelp
This is a lovely little bistro/cafe with a lively, intimate atmosphere and above par food which was recommended by our hotel concierge. Both of our servers were friendly and spoke impeccable English; however, the service itself left something to be desired. It took over 30 minutes to be served a glass of champagne which was ordered when we were seated and we had to request water at least twice before it was brought to the table. The first round of food, when it arrived almost an hour after we were seated (there were 2 of us), was not what we ordered and had to be sent back. After another 15-20 minutes, the our correct orders were served. I also tried to order a 2nd glass of champagne which never arrived, but was on the bill at the end of the evening and had to be corrected. Maybe they have better luck at lunch?

Caroline M.

Yelp
Really friendly servers, and good atmosphere. My food was served quickly and was delicious. You could tell it was a nice place, but not trying too hard to be fancy. I would come here with a smaller group though, they didn't have a ton of space. Also, the outdoor seating was limited. I would still come back!

Sarah M.

Yelp
Really great dinner - French food with a twist. Super friendly service! We split the ceviche followed by steak tartare and grilled octopus. All was delicious and unique in its own ways. We ended up even having dessert and it was amazing as well.

Jean-Rémy B.

Yelp
Seven of us had dinner there. Very accommodating owner as we had to move our reservation by 30 minutes and add a guest, no problem ! Let's start with the wines... very eclectic selection of interesting, off the beaten path wines. Ask the wait staff for help, they know their stuff. We ended up with a pinot noir from Puy de dôme, highly unusual wine region but we didn't regret the choice... it worked well with the meal and was as described by the very competent wait staff. The food selection from the table ranged from the very classic (steak tartare et pommes pont-neuf) to regional (magret de canard) to Mediterranean (poulpe grillé). Grilling poulpe (octopus) is very difficult, under cooked and it's tasteless, over cooked and it's rubber.. but perfectly cooked is amazing. And last night it was perfectly grilled, charred and crusty on the outside and melt in your mouth on the inside. Highly recommended ! A great dinner with family with good food and wine... don't expect the traditional brasserie fare (there are plenty of places that caters to tourists) but a spin on classics and regional cooking from France with an off the beaten path wine list well worth the visit on its own.

Ren O.

Yelp
My friends and I had a late dinner there. Service was very friendly, wine was decent. However, our main courses were a bit cold so we asked our cute waitress to send them back.

Sara S.

Yelp
I'm giving this spot 5 stars because it is so rare to not have a single service complaint at a Parisian restaurant. I came here with 4 friends because literally every other café in the area didn't have space outside. There were only two small tables outside at Glou but they let us all crowd around one. We had a mix of rosé and aperol spritz's and a delicious charcuterie board. Typical Pari$ian prices

Alan B.

Yelp
Slow service, even for Paris. Forgot our wine order, incorrect appetizers. Mediocre food. We were the only table in the restaurant that did not get the free bread. For such a great food neighborhood, this is a hard hard pass.

Courtney P.

Yelp
A good date night spot. Excellent wines, one of the best grilled octopus I've had, wonderful staff, and great atmosphere. The other food we ordered was good, but not great - I'm struggling to even remember what else we ordered.

Tishka S.

Yelp
Très sympa. The food was good and the service fast. Conveniently located in Le Marais right across from the Picasso museum.

Meghan D.

Yelp
I went to Glou with my mother on 3/14/11. Perhaps it's just me, but it seems less like a place to bring your mother, and more a place to eat with your date or friends (that is, if you and your date and your friends are young and hip -- though that's not to say there were not some older couples, because there were and they were not out of place). The restaurant was cozy, but had room enough that groups fit comfortably among the couples; it didn't feel as though everyone was on top of each other. I ordered the Shepard's Pie (17 euros), and my mother ordered the Rigatoni with White Truffle Cream Sauce (16 euros). The Shepard's Pie came out in the shape of a mousse. The bottom layer was the most tender, succulent meat shredded. The top layer was mashed potatoes. All this was on top of what tasted like a sweet steak sauce. It was one of the most amazing dishes I've had anywhere. The White Truffle Cream Sauce on my mother's rigatoni had the consistency of a thinner Alfredo, but was just as filling. Shaved Parmesan was sprinkled on top, as were chives and some barely noticeable slices of onion. The portion they served her, while not large, was definitely larger than expected. I'm not a fan of cream sauces usually, but this was the best pasta dish I've ever had. On top of all this, the waitstaff was friendly and easy on the eyes. P.S. They also had a burger that looked fucking delicious. P.P.S. They have menus in French and in English. This is obviously helpful for those who do not speak/read much French.

Yelp
GLOU is about wine... You know, when you pour the wine and it goes glug-glug... Yes, that's it. GLOU is a kind of French gastro-pub with a rich choice of wine by the glass and the bottle. But that's not all. Every product is clearly identified and of a rare quality. But the dishes are pretty basic. Let me tell you what we enjoyed in this wonderful place of simple pleasures. I've been to this place with my friend Pasha and his girl friend Irina. She wasn't very much hungry, I wanted them to taste some typical French specialties, so we decided to share in an oriental way. Everything is put in the middle of the table and everyone just nibbles. We started with a pumpkin soup (7 euros), oysters (13 euros) from Utah beach (Normandy) and pan-fried foie gras (13 euros). Then we went on with a beef tartar (18 euros) and home-made pasta with truffle flavour. What can I say? It was so fresh, so simple, so obviously perfect in its simplicity. Like the atmosphere, although the mix of industrial and home-made furniture could make you think you're in some posh place, on the contrary, it's a very friendly place.

Ellie P.

Yelp
This place has been upgraded in my mind after another successful visit. The most recent time I went there, we waited with a bottle of wine for a while. There was a very friendly bartender who felt bad for us waiting and suggested we put in our order early so that our food would arrive when we sat down. That worked! I had the tartare de boeuf -- yum -- one of the better ones in Paris. The last time I was there, we had a creative endive and cheddar salad -- unexpectedly delicious -- and a well-executed lamb dish that was very soft with a solid sauce. In an attempt to be Spanish-oriented, they have a whole page of charcuterie, which is great, but makes the rest of the menu feel limited. They have a wine system that allows you to try glasses of normally very expensive wines. This can be fun, especially when you're not up for drinking a whole bottle. I don't know how well the wines hold up after a week in the machines, but haven't found any problems with it. Gluten-free notes: Most of the dishes here are gluten-free: meats, veggies, cheese, potatoes, etc. Usually they'll have 1-2 gluten-free desserts, too. On the most recent trip, I got the rice pudding which was deliciously creamy with lots of vanilla bean.

Meg G.

Yelp
They were very nice, and they have some American patrons for a non-touristy area. The food was bomb, but it was pricey! 25 dollars for an American burger and les pommes des terres were burned. Portions were small but it is Europe and maybe there are several reasons why we have an obesity problem in the US. :P

Michael N.

Yelp
Glou was a spot we stumbled upon when wandering around the 5th noticing that many restaurants were closed for summer vacation. It was pretty hot inside so we opted for a table on the sidewalk. The sidewalk was tight, but it was a nice option for sitting outside and people watching. As for food we ended up with going with a meat board and a cheese board. All the food was excellent but I must say that it was a lot of food. We ordered another salad for the side, but it ended up just being too much. Price wise it was reasonable and we had a bottle of wine as well. About 60 euro. Service was slow by American standards, but overall I would definitely return.

Lizete S.

Yelp
We came here for lunch this past weekend. Since we weren't in the mood for wine we opted for some beers, page 24 and they were quite good. I had the tataki salmon which was very good, the husband had the glou burger which was excellent and my sister enjoyed the vegetarian plate. Unfortunately we had no room for dessert. My sister who lives nearby intends to return soon to try the wines.

Ha Eun K.

Yelp
My dad referred to the food as ethereal. I'm not sure if I'd go as far as that, but it really was excellent, especially for the decent price. The gazpacho was really refreshing and I loved the fragrance of raspberry it left in my mouth. The spring salad was also very fresh and tasty. And the pumpkin soup was really good too. We had fish of the day as well, and that was pretty good, though not formidable. I guess all in all, the appetizers were exceptional and the main course was really good :) The service was also excellent; they kept refilling our breadbasket. I really thought it was a five star for the price range. it's a pretty small restaurant but they have two floors, and there are tables that accomodates 5-6 people as well.

A A.

Yelp
Call for reservations and get the table for two next to the window upstairs. Such a nice place with great service. My fish wasn't to my liking but everything else was delicious!

Francesca G.

Yelp
This was the most disappointing meal I've had after living in Paris for over 2 years now. Tasteless fish, unsalted risotto, and the most uninspired vegetarian salad I've ever seen with brown lettuce. Everything except for the gazpacho was practically inedible.

Santi A.

Yelp
The location is walking distance from The Picasso museum. The food was great (we had the ham plate and coffee) but the service wasn't very good. The servers were running around headless though the restaurant was almost empty.

Anthony W.

Yelp
Glou was not our original destination but the restaurant we went for on Sunday night was closed. Boy, were we lucky. Glou was wonderful. Great food & excellent staff at a quite reasonable price. One of the best meals we had in Paris.

Sean L.

Yelp
Great ambiance, excellent charcuterie, and amazing cheesecake. I want to go back tomorrow.

Rebecca C.

Yelp
In Paris, the quality of food usually seems to be inverse to quality of the restaurant's decor: the trendier looking the establishment, the worse the food. This place is the exception to that that axiom. It's a good-looking little lunch spot with extremely tasty food and a great wine selection. The portions are small and somewhat overpriced - it's kinda pricey for a lunch place - but the quality is there in ingredients and presentation. When we visited, the staff was pleasant and helpful. It's a change of pace from other restaurants in the neighborhood, and it pairs nicely with a visit to the equally trendy houseware and clothing store Merci, which is in the same neck of the woods.

Cathy H.

Yelp
Returned to GLOU in July, 2014. Had a very different experience this time. After waiting 20 minutes, we had to get up and get the waiter to take our drink orders. Then we waited another 20, got up again and asked for bread, another 10 and we got up again to ask to have our order taken. 1/2 the items on the menu were no longer available. And the quality of the food we did get was very poor. Next visit to Paris, we won't be returning.

Rita S.

Yelp
Darling location, lovely service and interesting food. Ia great place located near some awesome shopping.

Chris N.

Yelp
Outstanding service and tasty food! The team was very welcoming and accommodating to our party of seven. The chef delivered excellent food with impeccable timing. Wine selection/pairing was assisted by a knowledgeable, savvy manager who kept us going in the right direction.

Yelp
This is a solid place. The food is always good, and sometimes it's great. The second time I went was better than the first -- hopefully a sign of things to come.

P L.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday afternoon for late lunch. Their chestnut soup with a ravioli was yummy and perfect for a cold winter day. The house salad was okay too. Only thing I could say is that they could work on their seating arrangements. They seemed to crowd customers in one corner of a communal table while the rest is empty. Would probably come again if I were in the area.

Michelle W.

Yelp
I've been fortunate enough to be staying in Paris for a few months and happily stumbled upon Glou for lunch one day. I'm in love with everything about this place. The food is always delicious, atmosphere and music are inviting and the staff is always very prompt and attentive, every time. I've been for lunch and dinner many times and have never been disappointed.

linda c.

Yelp
Outstanding meal and service. This was definitely one of our best meals during our 2 week stay in paris. A really interesting well executed meal. Hubby had carpaccio and veal cannelloni; I had soup and fish of the day. Chocolate cake to die for. Only regret is that we didn't come sooner so we could visit a second time.

Peter S.

Yelp
Food pretty good, location good, service quite bad. For openers, my wife has a bad knee and we asked to be seated on the ground floor (no elevator). They refused us a private table so we sat at a community table. We decided on the special - lamb for two - and were told it was a previous special and not being served, but they didn't want to waste the menus they'd printed, so they left it on. The host/waiter was impatient and rather snobby in the way I no longer expect in France. We ordered dinner and two minutes later decided to add starters. He scowled and said "You should have told me that before." I tried to ask a waitress carrying a bottle of wine a question about the wines listed and she said "I don't know anything about wine." Then I asked the host which of the reds by the glass was most robust. He suggested the organic wine because "It has no sulfites and so will be stronger than what you are used to drinking." How would he know what I'm used to drinking? Because I'm an American? I've been drinking red wine for 50 years and making wine for nearly 10. BTW, the wine was not very good. Finally, our main courses arrived after an hour. The place came highly recommended, so I came with high expectations. Would not go back.
