The Ultimate List of Wonderfully Specific Museums

"Lawn gnomes are a classic symbol of kitschy yard decorations, but most people are content to have just one of the little creatures posted up in their yards. Australia’s Gnomesville, a collection of thousands of the weird little statuettes set up on a roundabout is whole different beast entirely. The community of silent dwarves actually began as a whimsical protest some 20 years ago. As the Gnomesville website explains, a small bit of land in Ferguson Valley was annexed by the local government to create a roundabout. Despite an outcry from the nearby residents, the roundabout was installed, and tensions simmered. Then at some point, a gnome appeared. at first there as just one in a tree hollow, but after a few months, there were around 20. The collection continued to grow as visitors and locals alike came and dropped off their own little statues. In the decades since their first appearance the army of gnomes had exploded into the thousands. For a time, theft and vandalism stunted the growth of the little population, but today the site is fairly well respected and continues to grow as people bring their own gnomes to add to the community. There are so many gnomes now in Gnomesville, that in some spots they are even grouped up into little neighborhoods, where gnomes of the same color or attitude are placed together. Visit Gnomesville, but be sure to bring a new resident." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

I absolutely loved this place. I was lucky enough to stumble upon it during my road trip through Western Australia. It’s truly magical — like a little village full of elves, magic, and fairies. Stepping into it feels like entering a whole other world… a wonderful, dreamy, and enchanted one. If the gnomes invite you in, honour them with your presence." 🌸🌻💜✨️🧚🏽‍♀️🦋

I thought that this sounded like an interesting place to ride from Dardanup and what a surprise when I got there! I wasn’t prepared for the amazing volume of Gnomes, of all different shapes, sizes and arrangements, hilariously different. Whilst kids will love this place for sure, adults will enjoy it too. There’s some funny messages, family visits from far away. I now need to find my own Gnomes to donate!

A very fun, very cute, very different free attraction. It was super wholesome and a fun little walk through seeing the decades worth of gnomes people have put out. It’s clean, there is free parking and a toilet which is a happy bonus. It’s probably not worth coming to just see this, but worth a cheeky detour, and you can bring your own gnome and add to the growing population which makes this a fun rare experience

Driving home from Denmark had to stop by. Initial out of car walk up was like what on earth. Then you turn the corner and wow so many gnomes, the walk was great and the little guys in all styles and outfits amazing. The ladies manning the table were so informative. Great place to stop have a walk, use the clean facilities. Highly recommend a stop.

Very interesting tourist attraction. Definitely nothing like I have ever seen before. I would recommend a visit when you are in the area. The attraction is not that big that you'd require an entire day, you can visit on the way to something. I visited on the way to Wellington dam. I added some pictures, but pictures don't quite do justice. There are so many gnomes!!!

Did a day trip from our campsite at Honeymoon Pools, was quick & park of the Wellington Dam and scenic loop. It’s actually very cute and lots of people place gnomes in honour of clubs, schools, loved ones, and passed loved ones! We aimed to find the funniest gnome & cutest gnome and sure did. (Funniest one not pictured as it might be blocked haha).
