Hike with Mike! My husband and I had the best hiking experience at Eagle River and Barbara Falls. Our guide Mike was so fun, down to earth and knowledgeable and we genuinely enjoyed his company the entire time. The scenery was completely gorgeous and the challenge level of the trail was exactly as they described. Using Go Hike Alaska made us feel safe going into the woods because Mike was prepared with all the things! We learned so many interesting facts that seemed to connect all that we had learned so far about Alaska, into a complete picture. Hiking with Mike was our last planned outing of a two-week adventure and it was the perfect way to end the trip before being on a plane for 9 hours the next day. If we are fortunate enough to visit the state again, we definitely plan on signing up for another hike! Do it, you won't regret it.

Mike was a phenomenal guide on our snow shoe hike adventure today. It was actively snowing on us all day as we hiked about 3.5 miles in and out of hemlock forests, easily maneuvering over snow drifts and mountain terrain. We loved this experience... it was perfect for us, away from crowds, alone in Alaskan wilderness with someone who made us feel safe and took our interests and likes into account as he scouted out our route along the base of Flattop mountain. Highly recommend Mike for any hike.

We were lucky to not have anyone else on our snowshoe excursion, and Matt was an awesome guide! You can tell how much passion he has for the Alaskan wilderness and making sure his guests have a great time. He is super knowledgeable about the local areas as well as local flora and fauna and was just a really cool dude to hike with. Also, a group of ravens is called an unkindness or conspiracy.

Mike was a great guide. He shared his knowledge and truly made this a fun experience. The hike was amazing and one I would recommend. Very superior service overall. Thank you.

I'm not an outdoorsy person, but I knew I wanted to step out of my comfort zone to really appreciate the beauty of Alaska while there on vacation over Memorial Day weekend. I found Go Hike Alaska through the Anchorage tourism website, and I'm so happy I booked the Chugach State Park Nature Walk. Matt was an absolute pro and really helped our small group learn a lot, laugh a lot, have some fun, and see some really beautiful flora and fauna. He was patient with our questions and really knowledgeable of the park, everything in it, and the history of the area. I know he does bigger, more challenging hikes and excursions which I'd definitely recommend for those looking for it. But if you're like me, and looking for an accessible, beginner-friendly experience with an expert guide to help you have fun and really take in the beauty of Alaska, I can't recommend Matt, Go Hike Alaska, and the Nature Walk tour enough! It was the highlight of my trip to Anchorage and really proved that the outdoors is for everyone! And Go Hike Alaska definitely delivered on that. Thanks again!

Went on the Winter Waterfall Hike. Amazing views, fun facts galore about Alaska, wildlife and trivia, and of course, the opportunity to walk alongside and over a half-frozen river to a beautiful waterfall. Mike and Bryce were wonderful guides; make sure you experience this wonderful mini-adventure.

I can't recommend Matt and his team of guides at Go Hike Alaska enough! I've done both an Alpine Trek day hike with guide Leah around Labor Day of 2022, and most recently the Advanced Snowshoeing Adventure in January of 2023. Both trips were absolutely stunning, well run, and perfect outings to get out of Anchorage proper when one doesn't have time for a multi-day adventure. Both excursions were a quick drive from Anchorage, and I was picked up and dropped off right at or near my hotel, perfect for those that may not have a rental vehicle. The guides (including owner Matt, who did my snowshoeing outing) are incredibly knowledgeable, and eager to share their knowledge and love for Alaska. There are outings to suit all fitness levels, abilities and schedules (half day and full day). The snowshoeing trip was quite a workout but an absolute blast with breathtaking views; we experienced everything from a good snow to sun peeking above the mountains and casting the most gorgeous light ever. The photos I have from both trips are stunning and I have people ask me all the time "where did you go to see all of that??" I plan to book a backpacking trip with them as soon as my schedule allows, dream trip!

If you are looking for a truly unique, personalized adventure literally “off the beaten path” then this excursion is for you! Our guide/owner Matt was amazing. His knowledge of the Alaskan flora and fauna was outstanding! We had a blast foraging for everything edible in the vast Alaskan forest including plant leaves, flowers and mushrooms. After hiking and foraging, Matt found a super cool location to break out the cooking gear and make lunch. He is an expert chef and involved our group in all aspects of the meal prep process. I felt like I was out on an adventure with an old friend. Don’t miss this incredible experience while in Anchorage!!

Yelp
We did the Summer Valley & Forest Hike on Sep 4 with our guide, Bryce, and two other hikers. This was an easy hike for us - largely flat, and beautiful throughout. Being new to Alaska, we didn't feel comfortable doing any hikes on our own, and Bryce was a fantastic guide. He was on time for our pickup, friendly and informative throughout the drive to the trail head, and best of all, he stopped the van along the way for a surprise moose sighting in a lake by the highway. We were able to capture some great photos and videos of the moose grazing in the lake, from a close but safe vantage point, and without feeling rushed. Then the hike itself was great - again, beautiful throughout, and Bryce had great knowledge of the plants and area. He stopped a number of times to bring our attention to plants and mushrooms that are important or unique to the area and gave us time to admire the views at various stops (among them a stunning waterfall). Be sure to bring water and snacks for the hike, as it's long enough that we got a bit hungry. Go Hike Alaska has many offerings; this was the only one we did during our short Anchorage stay, but given our experience, we'll definitely seek them out again when back in the beautiful state.

Yelp
I went on a beautiful hike up the Eagle River with my guide, Leah. She had great knowledge of the plants and wildlife of the area, coming especially from a culinary background. Some of the poisonous ones were good to know about later in my trip! We saw salmon, she described the trail that comes over from Girdwood, and then we went to a different incredible place too. I won't give it away, but I had a great time on this well-guided and fairly easy hike.

Yelp
We had a great time with Go Hike Alaska. The guide picked us up right on time from downtown Anchorage. It was the first time snowshoeing for both of us and she made sure we were both comfortable with the equipment and hooked in correctly. We had a fun hike through a beautiful area and she was friendly and knowledgeable about the flora and fauna. As a bonus, we had to switch days at the last minute and Go Hike Alaska was able to accommodate us.
