Breathtaking location in the Central Highlands of Sri Lanka. The surrounding tea plantations are incredibly beautiful. We absolutely loved our one night stay at this extraordinary property and will return again for a longer visit. The service was exceptional. We were greeted with smiles and immediately offered tea and warm-from-the-oven cookies. Our afternoon included a nap in our spacious, well-appointed, sun-lit room, a walk through the herb garden, watching the sun set over tea plantations, another walk among the towering trees and gardens on the property, and a game of croquet before darkness set in. Our dinner was exquisite. Chef is highly talented, creative, emphasizes local, organic. He is a culinary master and we’re grateful to have experienced his authentic, remarkable flavors of Sri Lanka. A truly memorable evening. And breakfast the following morning at our private table in the gardens overlooking the village below was just as memorable. Goatfell is a very, very special boutique hotel. The service is extraordinary - warmth, professionalism, kindness, respectful, attentive. Far beyond five stars, in my opinion!

We had a wonderful 3 nights at Goatfell. What an incredible place. It is peaceful, has amazing views and sunrises, and a lovely pool. The inside is cosy and the bedrooms large and well appointed. Lovely big bed and enormous bath!|We walked around the tea plantations with a phone and route map loaded on. |The food was incredible- I think the best hotel food we have ever had. Huge choice for breakfast lunch and dinner, with plentiful tea and coffee inbetween! I ate so much as it was so delicious!|The staff also make this a very special experience- they seemed to be able to pre empt your needs in a discreet way. Friendly, respectful and kind.|We really hope to go back again one day!

WOW! I can't begin to describe how much we loved our time here! I was travelling just with my twins (aged 10) and we had the best time - the food is literally sensational and the rooms are divine. Comfy beds, incredible food, the best service of any hotel I have ever been to and the most unbelievable peace - the silence was unreal. We had lit fires in the evening, laundry done, and hot water bottles in our beds - this is truly the best hotel I have ever been to and we met the loveliest people. I would give this hotel ten stars!

Fantastic place to stay. Arranged through Trailfinders UK, who deal with all our bookings for our trip to Sri Lanka. The staff were amazing, the hotel was fantastic and the views breathtaking. This was booked as a full "all inclusive" deal, and was well worth every penny. We were given a "tracker" phone for one of the several local walks that were available to us. They even did some free laundry for us, with it all back later the same day. Couldn't fault the place at all.

One of the best hotel experience we've ever had. ||Both my husband and I have been very fortunate to travel a lot and experience a variety of hotels. However, the whole experience here could not be faulted. ||The staff could not have done more to make the trip special, they were friendly and personably. The pre dinner cocktails were great and super personalised. We said surprise us a few times and they were fab. My husband loves negronis and said the one he had was really good. Good selection of wine too. ||You genuinely cannot go hungry here. Not just in terms of qty but also the quality was great. Genuinely some of the best food of our trip. Lots of choice on the menu and variety as well. The kitchen garden was lovely too. ||The room was spectacular and lacked nothing. They truly thought of every detail. Matches for candles etc. ||The evenings get colder but this was no issue as they lit a fire in the drawing room for a very cozy pre dinner drink. ||Be aware the hotel is set back about 20 mins off the main road. Not a deterrent for us, but if you get motion sick be aware the drive is windy.

We spent two nights at Goatfell during our road trip through the central highlands, and it truly felt like a refreshing retreat. The amenities, food, and service exceeded expectations, and we especially loved the beautifully maintained gardens, the stunning infinity pool, and the charming breakfast spot with a view.||One morning, we set off on a serene 4km walk at 7am —a perfect way to work up an appetite after all the indulgent meals. We returned to find a beautifully drawn bubble bath, thoughtfully prepared by the staff for a truly relaxing experience. The rice and curry is a standout and not to be missed, while the Chocolate Fondant is pure decadence. ||Try to wake up by 5:45am to catch the most breathtaking sunrise—its reflection over the infinity pool is absolutely stunning!||A special thanks to Indika and his team for their warm hospitality and attentive care throughout our stay. Goatfell was a highlight of our journey!||The name Goatfell originates from the highest peak on Scotland’s Isle of Arran, with roots in Norse and Gaelic—likely meaning “Goat Mountain” or “Windy Mountain.” Though not tied to actual goats, the name reflects the area's rugged, breezy highland character—fitting for this serene retreat in Kandapola and the strong winds we experienced!
