Skip the Golden Circle—Take Iceland's New Arctic Coast Way Instead

"Goðafoss is one of the most epic waterfalls in Iceland. Nicknamed the “waterfall of the Gods,” it’s where the rushing Skjálfandafljót river drops nearly 40 feet across a 98-foot expanse."

It super easy tourist spot to reach Not a huge scale but it does look Niagara Falls Canada (horse shoe) There a path to walk down where you can get closer to the falls however there are a lot of people there. Thus it is bit challenging to take a picture without strangers at the background You can go left or right side to have another stunning view or paramount view of the falls; of course you need more time to do so As usual the parking isn’t free … There are cafe close to the parking which they also sell some souvenirs. There are washrooms inside but you need to pay ! We enjoyed this place !

Absolutely beautiful and worth the stop. There are some stairs that lead down so you can walk along the water and up to the waterfall

Visited mid-September and was pleasantly surprised that it was not too busy. This waterfall lived by its expectations as it was majestic when enjoyed from several vantage points. Initially you will observe it from a higher vantage point appreciating the underlying canyon as you walk from the car park then you can take the stairs down and visit at water level where you can take great photos with even less crowds. IMO its advisable to use the East bank parking.

Amazing beautiful waterfall on the ring road close to Akureyri. The trail is well mark, you can go down close the waterfall also if you have the skills. The parking is very convenient and close, it has two, one on each side. You can see the waterfall front different angles. Also it has a suoveniers store with bathrooms and nice coffee so you can get nice presents there and the staff is very friendly.

Goðafoss is absolutely spectacular. The power and symmetry of this waterfall are breathtaking, with water thundering over a wide horseshoe-shaped cliff into a misty canyon below. It’s easily accessible with excellent viewpoints from both sides, each offering a different but equally stunning perspective. Steeped in history and surrounded by beautiful scenery, Goðafoss is one of Iceland’s most impressive and unforgettable waterfalls.

We enjoyed our stop at this waterfalls, even though it was a cloudy rainy day. It felt much less commercialized than the waterfalls on the south of the island. There is plenty of free parking, and the walking paths give you great views of the fall. Right along the Ring Road, so a easy stop while driving through the north of Iceland. Definitely worth spending a few minutes here.

Beautiful waterfall with amazing view points all around. There are plenty of spots to sit and enjoy the views. There are steps to go down near the base of the fall. Godafoss looks a bit like Niagara Falls in a smaller scale but it’s far less crowded and commercialized which makes it more pleasant and enjoyable. We enjoyed our stay there and highly recommend it for anyone visiting nearby.

The waterfall is gorgeous! We visited the waterfall from both the west or the east side. On the east side, there is a path leading to the river bank and you can enjoy the views there.
