I love to visit state parks, ranging from the highly complex with a variety of features, activities and amenities to the extremely simple and even primitive parks, where nature reaches out and grabs you.
Goddard Memorial falls somewhere in between the two extremes, with some activities and amenities but also some parts that are largely left to their own devices, especially along the coastal vistas.
While I am sure that the views are amazing year round, I would recommend catching the autumnal view in late September or early October (remember that winter comes early up here).
The coastal and harbour scenery is worth a trip in and of itself.
State Park Sinay says:
I may have mentioned that I am fond of state parks. For those who share my affliction (or addiction), Rhode Island is a great place to visit. It seems like more than half of the tiny state is dedicated to parks, coasts, greenery and the like.
Come and enjoy and try to figure out why the state is called an "island"
