Felt super homey—like staying at a friend’s old Kyoto house Traditional vibes with tatami rooms and sliding doors, very chill Common area was cozy, met a few other travelers over tea Staff was kind and helpful, gave local tips and map recs Shared bathrooms but clean and well-kept, no complaints Awesome location—easy walk to Kiyomizu-dera and Ninenzaka There’s a little café too with a good vibe and solid coffee Not fancy, but super warm and peaceful, like proper Kyoto style Good price for the experience, especially if you like slower travel Would stay again for sure—simple, friendly, and full of character

Absolutely love this Airbnb. Located in the quiet neighbourhood of Gion. Walking distance to many quiet valleys and shrines. The room was spacious and the futon was really comfortable. Also love the kitchen which was well stocked and convenient. There’s a local grocery (Happy Rokuhara) nearby that’s within walking distance. The staffs were very helpful and accommodative and gave many good advices on local eats and places to visit. Would love to stay here again if we come back to Kyoto. The only downside - quite a distance to Kawaramachi (if you choose to walk). If you have a lot of luggage, a little distance to lug around your luggage to the nearest train station.

“Comfort & Cosy single room to feel real Kyoto” Location is near Kiyomizu dera where is the best place to feel real Kyoto and must try to go Sentou (public bath) around the guest house. Room is compact & cosy and sharing spaces are also clean & comfortable to use. Highly recommended accommodation for solitary traveler.

Very cute guesthouse in Gion. The staff were lovely and really helpful! It was a bit cold (especially in the bathroom) but any place would be in the middle of winter. We stayed in a twin futon room and it was very big and futons were comfortable. Perfect for two travellers! Very walkable to nearby shrines and big shopping areas. It's located right in Gion which means you'll have a great time wandering around and admiring all the beautiful architecture and houses. You can use the kitchen which is well stocked with plates cutlery etc. 711 is right around the corner as well as some other restaurants. Loved having the opportunity to stay in a very authentic house like this and meet some new people.

To our surprise our room had bunk beds and not a double one, so check before booking. In any case the guest house has a nice atmosphere, basic but very clean and good position. We went during winter and it was very cold, the room had warm air system, warm blankets. If you are looking for maximum comfort, not your place. The common areas and kitchen are nice, fit the Kyoto vibes. All in all it was a fun adventure, good value for money.

I can highly recommend this hostel/guesthouse. We stayed in a Japanese style room (tatami room), which was really nice. The staff is very friendly and helped us a lot. The bathroom is very clean and they even offer free shower gel, shampoo and some other supplies like hairdryer, q-tips etc. they offer a washing machine and a dryer for little fee. Furthermore you'll find a communal kitchen and a small hang out area. The location of the guesthouse is very convenient as well. It'll take you 15 minutes by walk to go to downtown Kyoto. Furthermore there are several temples you can reach by foot. Nearby you'll find a bus station with different lines; so you will reach all the temples and and sights of Kyoto. Check-in and check-out was very easy as well. We really enjoyed our stay at the gojo guesthouse annex.

This is a great hostel in probably the best area of Kyoto. Our reception was really welcoming and the place is really clean and authentic. Note that this is an old style building which means that there is no sound proofing between rooms or even floors. Just knowing this will temper your expectations appropriately. The staffs recommendations were very on point!

Gojo Annex is a guesthouse with a soul. ||Old house, great location in Gion, extremely helpful and good English speaking receptionists. ||They helped me a lot when I've got problems with my leg and needed to go to a hospital. ||It's place with shared bathroom so definitely not for everyone but I've never waited for shower. ||What's more there is also fully equiped kitchen. You can not only use plates or pots but also Japanese tea or seasoning.||They have a list of recommended bars and restaurants, sell bus ticket and organise free walking tours for guests. On the day of my arrival I could take part in such walk and it gave me a lot of insight in Kyoto sights and places worth visit. Plus we saw a lot of maikos and geisha :) And was explained about differences between them so later I could differentiate early who I'm passing by.||I stayed in nice western style room with an armcher :)||Wi-Fi was the best one I had in places I stayed in Japan.||One big yes, fully recommended and arigato for everything you done to help me!
