This lovely hotel has a spacious backyard with outdoor seating, surrounded by trees, flowers, and lush greenery. It was such a comfortable spot to enjoy a meal, especially with the beautiful sunny weather. The setting is also perfect for taking photos. The service was warm and welcoming, and the food was great too. A wonderful experience overall!

Excellent up-market pub. The food was great, the service was excellent. The steaks were cooked as requested and delicious! They have a kids menu if you need it and the drinks selection was decent. It was on the pricey side for a pub meal, but the quality of the produce was obvious and well worth it!

We chose to have our wedding here in March 2025. Amy and her team have been professional, thoughtful and excellent hosts. We live overseas and the communication has been simple and easy. Guests have reported that the food was plentiful and delicious - particularly the hot chips! Reassuring hands for the big day - we would thoroughly recommend for anyone to have a celebration here.

Love this place. Stunning gardens, beautiful food, great craft beers and simply a must go to pub. Take the kids and enjoy the scenery and the animals etc. The staff have always been great to us also!!!

What can I say, I am absolutely in love with this place. I had my first dining experience here tonight and all I can say is wow. The atmosphere when I walked in was so beautiful. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. All the food was exceptional, I actually couldn’t stop smiling when I was eating. Cocktails? So good. Honestly the best restaurant I have ever been to. I cant wait to come back. Thank you guys for making my night amazing

We had our wedding here in May. Communication was great with Amy and was happy to work with any ideas and float others. The team where all happy, bubbly and accomodating. Nothing was a problem including many food allergies, and more than enough food. Cocktails set the scene for a great evening, fun night had by all..

Unfortunately, a poor experience at Gold Mines last night. My wife was visiting and I wanted to show her a nice elevated pub-type restaurant in Bendigo. We had to wait nearly 1 hour for our mains to arrive and had to remind the staff twice that we were waiting on food and drink. Even our drinks didn't come out for 30 minutes and then we had pretty much finished them before our mains arrived. The waitress was apologetic but nothing was really done to make up for the poor service which I would expect like a discount on the final bill or drinks for free. They said the kitchen was backed up but the table next to us who arrived 30+ minutes after us got their food immediately after our mains arrived so clearly they just forgot about us. The food was okay - my burger was nice and the market fish was just alright, and it certainly didn't make up for the poor service. I'm disappointed I chose this place when we could have just gone to any of the other excellent pubs in Bendigo.

Food quality did not match the prices - nor did the meals all match their descriptions in the menu. Nor did one menu match the next as it seems old versions were mixed in with current versions, and both were full of typos and other errors. The food was largely fine, but disappointing given the expectations that had been set for it. We came to see Bill Barber perform but couldn't hear him very well as other patrons were talking loudly throughout, and the staff even turned the speakers down so that those others could converse more easily. Ordered an old fashioned (or "old fashion" as the menu put it) and got a drink that was extremely sweet and bright orange. The worst old fashioned I've ever drunk, if it could even be said to qualify as such.

Yelp
Years ago this used to be a miners' pub. Well, that isn't the case anymore, and it definitely shows it. Like, the interior is just so gorgeous, and in a way one wouldn't expect to find miners in their dirty clothes gracing the halls of this pub anymore. These days it is a pretty fancy place, and a pretty good one at this. For instance, they have a great range of beers, and the beer garden is not only huge, but it is also gorgeous as well. In fact, it looks like they are still working on it. Oh, and it is also across the road from one of the old mining sites, which is why it used to be a miners pub. However, yeah, it's pretty cool.
