Gold Nugget Tavern & Grille

I happen to be driving in the area and was trying to find a place to eat. I saw this little place in the corner and decided to try it. The inside has an old pub style. It seemed very cozy and nice. The restaurant was very clean and had a nice patio area outside. The host in the server were very kind and friendly. I decided to order a club sandwich and was blown away by the size and how fresh and good it was. The fries were delicious nice and crispy. I also ordered a side of ranch for my fries and the ranch tasted amazing .

I got this little gem off a Twin Cities really good burgers list. It was finally time today to go see what this is all about. The burger was really good and the Nachos are really good too. The outside patio is perfect because it’s on the North side of the building in the shade. The inside was welcoming too. I’d go back to this one. Enjoy…

The food was okay. The "State Fair Cheese Curds" were below average. A giant clump of breading, grease & cheese. Presentation was not appetizing at all. The gravy with my mashed potatoes had a refrigerator taste. The burgers were good though so there's that.

Food was possibly the best we have eaten at Gold Nugget Tavern! Everything was served hot and delicious! I had the Rachel sandwich and was more than pleased with it. My dining partner was equally as pleased with his sandwich. I reserved my table via OpenTable and it was just as I requested! Thank you!

We've eaten here many times, normally very good. This time I ordered the nachos and it was a complete disaster. There was barely any ground beef and they didn't drain it properly. The jalapeños were supposed to be pickled (they don't tell you they they pickle them with carrots which are also in the nachos). Half the plate was an inedible glooppy mess. Just disappointing. Worst nachos I've ever had.

Had patty melt with onion rings both were really good. Friend had burger with brue which he said great and would order it again. We sat at the bar. The service was great. Very kind, helpful, and polite. My friend and I have both worked in the industry for years before going into IT. We both enjoyed the experience.

This was our first time. We started with a couple happy hour apps, the cheese curds and the spinach artichoke dip. Cheese curds were $8, delicious and a huge portion, the best items overall. Dip was good but dare I say too cheesy. We had to cut it with the knife to get through it. We also substituted bread in place of chips for $2 but the portion of bread was small given the upcharge and amount of dip. We then had the cuban sandwich, club sandwich and reuben, all with fries. Club was ok, very thick though and toast a little dry. Also, as I write this I've realized it did not come with bacon on it as it says. Reuben was the better of the sandwiches though we think it was missing the Russian dressing. Cuban was ok, pork was crispy but sandwich was a bit dry as well.  Portion sizes are huge here if your looking for that. On the plus side, Erika our server was lovely and there's lots of seating inside and plenty of parking.

Fabulous experience at the Gold Nugget. Food was enjoyed by all, service was great. Loved the atmosphere especially the holiday lights they still had up in the bar area. Very festive!

This place is trendy and stylish. It has a lot of TVs if you want to watch a game. Parking is super easy because it has a big parking lot in front. My husband is a bourbon guy. He ordered it. They mixed the drink well. It tastes great! I got the paradise, it is very smooth and sweet. I loved it! The pot sticker is amazing!!!! If you order it at happy hour, it's only $10. Their happy hour is either 2:30-5 or 8 to close daily. But the kitchen is closed at 10. We got there a few minutes late, but they still served us. We will definitely come back and try their food. Love this place!

The Golden Nugget is just so consistent!! We caught the end of Happy Hour at 5 PM but got a drink at full price and a second one for $1. Solid The food is full of value. Burgers are above average. The fennel sausage flatbread was extraordinary! Our server was a Pro's Pro! Read our table perfectly! What a fun dining experience!!

The food is delicious. The Service was outstanding. Kari was amazing ! Great ambiance can hold a conversation with your party. Not too noisy

Stopped in around 6:30pm on a gorgeous Saturday evening after a few hours at the Excelsior Art Fair. Enjoyed appetizers on the patio. Our server did a nice job keeping up and checking in with us as he was the only one assigned to the patio. I'd say out of the two appetizers the Buffalo shrimp was my favorite. Perfectly cooked and coated in Buffalo sauce. The cheese curds weren't my favorite- a little bready and not super cheesy. The menu had a variety. If I'm ever in the area again, I'd come back to try something else. Pull-tabs would be a good edition to this restaurant. Overall, good experience.

This is a hidden gem. I was here years ago, and happily passed it while we were looking for something to eat. We sat outside on their private patio - decent space. The quality of food is just as I remember. I shared the cheese curds and buffalo shrimp (served with blue cheese). The shrimp were cooked to perfection. I'm not a blue cheese lover, but I'm branching out more and this sauce was mild and paired well with the shrimp. Would definitely go back when I am hungrier to try other menu items. Cannot go wrong with these two!

What a wonderful hidden gem in Minnetonka! I had been seeing this place all over social media, so when a foodie friend invited me here I said yes right away! I can't comment on pricing since she covered me, but the service was pretty speedy for a busy restaurant - plus the server let us know almost everything here is fresh and made to order! This place has a very warm and woody, neighborhood-tavern vibe. This is definitely a spot I'd want to spend the day watching a game here, or meeting a group for dinner. To Drink: I had a delicious spicy margarita and a nice glass of Chardonnay. The star of the show though is their Chai Martini if you love a rich, sweet, dessert-y beverage. They have a full bar, so you can really get anything here. To Eat: STATE FAIR CHEESE CURDS: A MUST, especially if you're with a group. Nothing out of the ordinary, but they really were the perfect cheese curds. ASADA BOWL: This was the dish I definitely saw myself ordering if I was just getting myself a meal! The steak was cooked perfectly and the whole bowl was packed with flavor. A perfect "burrito bowl". SHRIMP TACOS: Another fantastic dish that I could see myself ordering. These were spicy and refreshing at the same time, I couldn't get enough. GOUDA MAC: If you like rich and creamy pasta, this is a MUST! So smokey and delicious, I couldn't stop taking bites here! PRIME RIB EGG ROLLS: These were very rich and heavy, not my cup of tea but objectively they are flavorful and tasty! AHI TUNA CRISPS: I expected these to be more like tuna nachos, but it's more like marinated pieces of Tuna. Super fresh and yummy! LOBSTER ROLL: Again, this just wasn't my taste, but if you like a cold lobster roll I think you would really enjoy it! BURGER: We tried one of their weekly burgers, it was a funky mix of brie cheese and french onions on the burger and it was tasty!

We hadn't been into the restaurant since 2016 after the environment seemed to sour. We decided we should try again on Saturday. We were greeted by a young man with his ball cap on backwards, not looking like he worked there. The place hasn't changed and looked a bit shabby. Our order did come our fast. However, my husband's Carnita Tacos was very bland and left a puddle of water on his plate. Our server took it away, and we were not charged. We ended up just splitting my sandwich. The bright spot was our server. He was attentive and kind. I doubt we will be back anytime soon. Used to be such a great place.

We received a nice welcome and the host seated us promptly in the area to the left of the bar. There were a couple of TVs visible and those were set to Twins and golf. The entire place was about 30% occupied. The server seemed to arrive before we were seated which literally gave us no time to take a look at the beer/wine list. So, we quickly ordered a diet Coke and water. She never attempted to sell us anything else. I ordered the French Onion soup and the Fig and Brie burger (see photo). Both arrived (I was not asked if I wanted the soup prior to receiving the entrée) 20 minutes later...pretty slow for a relatively quiet restaurant. The soup was really hot...the burger was warm at best. I ordered my burger "medium rare" and it arrived "well done." The fig flavor was very faint but overall the burger was tasty thanks to a good roll and nice cheese. Meanwhile, the soup was bland except for some peppery taste...don't spend your money on it as you'll be at least as disappointed as I was. It was a waste of money. It looked old and needed refreshing. Tossing some cheese on top of bread doesn't make for good French Onion soup. It's better removed from the menu. While this was definitely a disappointing experience I understand their happy hour is well attended and might give it a try if we're in the neighborhood. Otherwise, there are probably better local options for a full-priced meal that would include good service and well prepared food.

This has been a neighborhood staple for MANY years, with a somewhat recent revamp of the space. It looks really nice. We opted to sit outside and were pleased to see the seemingly small patio wrapped around and had more seating back in the "woodsy" area. Our server was attentive at first, but when another table came in (4-top) they took most of her attention (we were a 3-top). I ordered a gin cocktail and my two companions got their cocktails without mine. She explained that they tried it and didn't like how it turned out as they were still "perfecting" the recipe. It just seemed strange to have something advertised as a special without even the manager knowing how to make it. It was fine, but nothing special. I started with the French Onion soup - this was literally inedible. Maybe they accidentally had the lid come off the salt shaker, but I couldn't stomach it. The cheese was barely melted and it seemed they prepped it with the croutons (ripped bread chunks) already in it as they were mostly disintegrated. It sat on the table the rest of the meal untouched. My salad was fine with some mistakes made such as dressing it when I asked for it on the side, adding bacon when I specified none - things like that. For the most part it was a nice place and had good options for meat and vegetarians, but it didn't stand out enough for me to rush to return.

Great food. Standard bar feel. We love going here for a casual night out or to grab a drink on a week night.

Recently tried the Gold Nugget for the first time. Great bar area, fantastic service, yummy food. Portions are large! Hubby and I could have split the sandwich/ fries and skipped the appetizer BUT, we had great leftovers! NOTE: Happy hour ends at 5pm and only includes buying 1 beverage and getting the 2nd one for $1. MUST be the same beer. Hubby likes light beer and I only drink IPA, so we couldn't take advantage since we only drink 1 beer each. Bummer. FYI There is also a non-bar dining area.

It used to be a great placed for juicy burger and homemade hand cut fries when it was the little bar on the corner in the old wood built building many years ago. It has gone downhill ever since. We tried it one more time and the burgers was dry, and the fries were not near as good as the frozen ones you get at the grocery store.

Tucked under some apartments in Minnetonka is this spot with the best cheese curds ever! I loved the marinara sauce that came with the curds so much. We stopped in on a Thursday around 6pm and the bar was full and most of the tables were too! Service was still on point and I will be back for more curds!

Was there on Friday March 29th for dinner. The Bartender (little short guys with tons of tattoos) was completely rude - offended my wife and I about knowing TV Stations and wanting to finish our App. He was a total jerk. The rest of the staff was a bunch of bro's walking around scoping out a birthday party full of middle aged women. The worst part, however, was that everytime I looked into the kitchen they were staring at us. I had a bad feeling. I've had serious food poisoning since we ate there. AWFUL. I've been here before and had the same issues. Very clicky place- extremely rude staff. Don't go here.

A neighborhood gem! The restaurant is great and offers patio dining as well. Their burgers are AMAZING and they constantly rotate in new weekly and monthly specials. The gouda Mac is fantastic. Great drink selection and sports on TV. This is the perfect place to get caught up with friends. The service has always very good. One of my favorite restaurants.

Our 2nd visit here was later at night. I appreciated that they didn't have a more limited menu later in the day. Our server was nice and friendly! I LOVED the French onion soup. Seriously SO GOOD. My partner tried one of the "battle burgers" and wasn't a huge fan of it but also didn't dislike it. I didn't try it so I can't say much. I do appreciate that they have burger staples and rotating burgers. It's good for people who like to try something new and for those who like to stick to their favs every time. The only downfall was that the clean table we sat at was actually very sticky, and that our server took awhile to greet us. (Maybe she wasn't expecting a table or was in the middle of a break, idk).

We've been going to the Gold Nugget since it was a hole in the wall in Glen Lake. Today we went there because our first choice restaurant was closed between lunch and dinner. There were three of us and we had the following Burger of the Week - ordered rare and came out hard as a rock, dry, and not a hint of pink anywhere. Original Burger - also ordered rare and came out hard, dry and overcooked. Fish and fries - at least that seemed reasonable to the person eating it. Coffee all around - first cups bitter, when we eventually got the refills after asking for it because the server did not check back, the coffee tasted like it had been on the burner for hours on end. Take away for my husband - Chicken Pavarotti pasta. We waited and waited for the dish to come out and when our dining companion went to the kitchen to ask where it was they said it wasn't ready... came to the table tepid. This less than stellar lunch meal was $105 with no alcoholic beverages. Definitely not worth the money and I won't be returning.

Great food and happy hour specials. Have never had a bad experience here. We keep comin g back!

First time to your establishment. Hey... very fun. Reserved a table and you had one for us-very cool. Service was hit or miss but we were weren't in a big hurry. Food and drinks just fine. Live music was a plus.

Love this neighborhood joint! Known for outstanding burgers and craft beers on tap, Gold Nugget also offers up some fantastic entrees as well. The space is fun and welcoming. They also have a sweet patio. Gold Nugget is featured in my Bloody Mary Collection and for good reason. They have one of the best Bloody Mary's in town. A delicious, thick, house made sauce and garnish with a chuck of cheese, salami, cherry tomato, olive, and a pepperoncini. It comes accompanied by a Miller High Life Pony. This is a must try! Gold Nugget does a weekly burger battle and is always cranking out some fun creations for you, the consumer to vote on. I do wish they did a slightly better job with their tap beer selection. While it is probably one of the better beer lists in the area it still isn't what it could be.

Visited for a work lunch and had no idea what to expect. This patio was packed with ages of all kinds. I wasn't planning to have a burger but after reading the menu I could resist. I enjoyed the turkey big Mac which was fully of flavor and a huge patty - topped with big Mac sauce and cut up pickles almost like a relish. The bun was fresh and the fries were great! I definitely are the whole thing. Highly recommend popping in soon. Others at the table had the shrimp tacos and the impossible spicy burger. They have food for all kinds and diets!

Had lunch here a couple weeks ago and it was great! I started with a spicy bloody mary (that comes with a cute little Miller Highlife pony). That was almost a meal in itself with all of the delicious garnishes! For my main course, I had the club sandwich + sweet potato fries. Everything was so good! Looking forward to coming back for brunch some weekend.

My impression is that this is a place that caters more to the bar crowd. The food I've tried there is excellent but i like restaurants that specialize on a variety of foods which is not something you will find here.

I cannot recommend this place enough! I was there on a busy weekend and got sat before our quoted wait time and started off with the cheese curds and got a big full basket for a good price and was the best curds I've had. My friend and I both got burgers and I had the Pretzel bun burger with a queso sauce and that's been the best restaurant food I've had for a long time! My friend got the Stadium burger and couldn't stop raving about it either. The customer service was top notch and friendly. We will be back!

Don't call me no Jamba-laya... ;) I'm not lyin!--No pants on fire over here, just burnin' taste buds Here's the lineup from a fine local tavern: ---- Jambalaya with Chicken, Andouille Sausage, Shrimp, Spicy tomato stew, and Creole dirty rice The People's Burger with Smoked brisket blended patty, Cheddar cheese, Tomato jam, Roasted poblano, and Garlic aioli on Brioche Chicken Enchiladas with Shredded lettuce, Pico de gallo, Sour cream & Guajillo rice ---- Call it The Golden Nugget or a hidden gem, this Minnetonka eatery knows can cook several kinds of cuisine in cravable fashion The Jambalaya was my jam! Just enough heat from the meat and stew, accompanied by a textural contrast of classic dirty rice and cravable crustaceans made this a delish take on a Cajun Classic The enchiladas were ever so elevated by the slightly spicy guajillo chili served in no small portion--and that includes the holy-buckets-worth of cheese! My foodie friend had this pipin' hot order surpass his expectations And finally, a burger made with brisket--How could that be bad! No beef with this menu chief, which continues to win TGN's monthly burger battle between two new beef creations where the victor remains on the menu I loved the sweetness of the tomato jam, the bite of the poblanos, the addition of creamy garlic aioli...And of course, such a hefty handled requires a robust brioche bun for consumption The Golden Nugget is certainly a valuable find--and I promise, it's no fools gold! With options for every appetite, you'll probably have to go back and find more favorites. I recommend trying mine... or mine to find your own supreme selections! The service was fine. I went on a Wednesday at noon and they weren't particularly busy. The food however, was very disappointing. I had the Reuben with onion rings. It's pretty hard to mess up a Reuben, but this one had very little flavor. It had all the right ingredients, corn beef, sauerkraut, thousand island dressing, and Swiss cheese on marble rye. But the corn beef was extremely hot and when I say hot, I mean when I took a bite of the sandwich, it burned my mouth. I opened up the sandwich and for a good 30 seconds steam came off for the corned beef. The bread and the sauerkraut and the cheese were barely warm, but the corn beef was sizzling hot. I can't imagine what they did to it except perhaps put it into a microwave and then made the sandwich with that microwaved meat. In any event, it took all of the flavor out of the meat. The onion rings were also very disappointing. They were overcooked, sometimes burned and cold. When I told the server she did bring me a new batch and they were much better. I really wanted to like this place and based on some of the other reviews, maybe I just had an off experience.

Stopped in for a happy hour. We got a table right away and had our drinks + app within 10 minutes. Service was fast. The nachos were a huge portion and definitely didn't lack toppings. This place feels like your classic burger and bar joint -- nothing too fancy but exactly what you'd expect it to be.

This is a restaurant that my wife and I went to over 20 times in 2023. It is our favorite go to restaurant in terms of value, service, and quality. It is generally also easy to get in when you want as it is does not typically have a wait time to get into for your reservation time. We especially love the chicken parmigiana with noodles that is our favorite dish there. Their French fries are better than average too. Friendly serving staff and well-managed.

Nashville Chicken sandwich was a disaster. Nothing more than a couple of Chicken Tenders which made it impossible to eat. Wife and a friend both were not happy with their Reuban and Patty Melt. Would not go again.

Known for their burgers, but they are not a standout in a strong burger scene. I do respect their Burger Battle menu which always changes things up and brings nice variety though. The wings were a nice surprise, especially with their house made ranch. The cocktails were also pretty decent and not as overpriced as you might find nearby. The burgers, on the other hand, make up for those cheap(ish) drinks by being a bit overpriced.

Outstanding food and service! Highly recommend the shrimp ceviche! We had a larger party and they treated us very well!

The service was good but the food was just okay. I got the steakhouse burger, it was very bland. I ordered it medium and it was but there was no sear or crust on it so it was just kind of soft and gray. My dad got the royal with cheese and wasn't very impressed either. Others we were with got the spice is right and the hot chicken sandwich and did like their food a lot. The fries and onion rings were very good. Not a terrible experience but I wouldn't go again.

After having had a great brunch there on the previous weekend, my wife and I decided to try lunch on Monday. The Cubano sandwich was just ok, but my wife's fish and chips was over fried and crusty. The fish itself seemed "fishy". It could have been old. The Coleslaw also seemed old and bland. I would recommend sticking to burgers there as they are competent at those.

What an awesome tavern & grille in Minnetonka. I follow their Chef on Instagram and love watching his creations so, my boyfriend and I made a trip just over a month ago to see what their menu was like. It had been about 2 years since we last had visited. During our first visit back it wasn't too packed. I would say service was a bit slow and that's my only gripe on this visit. Fried Pickles- holy cow these are spears with deep fried goodness. They come with a side of ranch but they are so delish without it. I got the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwhich. 5/5 stars for sure! It's made with Spicy fried chicken breast, slaw, house pickles, jalapenos, and firecracker aioli, on brioche bun. This was a tasty and decently spicy sandwich! Our next visit back was burger battle. We tried both burgers. The Chicken Buffalo Lucy was fantastic and bursting with flavors. The Black & Bleu buger was really food as well! We also tried the Sweet Hot Thai wings. They were juicy, meaty, and crispy. The sauce starts off sweet with a tiny nice little kick to follow. We will definly order these again. They have a decent beer list and a fun cocktail menu. Go with the Gold Fashioned! I think we will be returning soon! Service was a lot better the 2nd visit! They have many things I want to try on the menu.

It's a bit of a dice roll- not enough staff last time we were there, slow service, ok food. 2nd time tacos were soggy and we sent them back. Inconsistent service and food.

We have heard how this place is a "Golden"nugget for a long time now.A family friend worked there for a time.He raved about the burgers and onion rings! It was on point. I had the Minnesota nice burger and my wife had the bacon everything burger.They both were an amalgamation of different flavors that came together very well! I had the fries and onion rings which were superb. Sam waited on us and was very knowledgeable and friendly. We also had the cheese stuffed tater tots for an appetizer. This place gives you a lot of food!! We were celebrating our anniversary and had a complementary dessert, however we were full.We will try the lava cake next time. There is an adequate amount of seating and the restaurant was clean and spacious. If you're looking for a nice place to get a good burger and possibly try jambalaya which I will try next time,the golden nugget is the place.

The Golden Nugget is a place I would recommend almost anyone to visit. It's fun, with charitable service and higher standards of operation. That being said, there's not a whole lot that makes it stick out from other pubs like it. What can be said, is that the food is excellent. The burgers here are unique and challenging to decipher how one might taste. So challenging in fact that I ordered three. (I'm sorry if you follow me you know I can't just try one menu item) The MN burger is filled with top the tater and is topped with potato chips. A excellent addition. 4/5 The patty melt was underwhelming, but the bread is excellent. The ingredients were less fresh than I was hoping and the cheese wasn't special by any means. 3/5 The other burger was what I think to be the California burger? Nothing to even mention. The best part was the brioche bun. 2.6/5 The "state fair" cheese curds.... meh... 2/5 Our servers name was Sarah and she was outstanding!!! If I had had a $100 dollar bill to spare it would have been hers. Service 4.8/5 Overall, a decent pub! Definitely worth a stop in for lunch or a simple get together. Nothing to make it a favorite of mine however.

This is your typical suburban bar/restaurant. The happy hour is decent for drinks, but the food and service is not good. They charge an insane amount for a regular burger with no toppings. Each topping is an additional dollar, so when I added the standard tomato, onion and pickles - it was an extra $3. The staff is not friendly. I understand that many places are understaffed, but when we went it was not busy. Our waitress was always in a hurry, did not explain the happy hour menu and was annoyed when we were not ready to order. After we got our meal, apparently that was the end of our service because we did not see her again until we asked for the bill (which was incorrect). If I go back, I would only get drinks at the bar.

Yummy food and great options! We went for lunch during the week and there wasn't a wait... can't speak to weekends though

Went there for a late lunch only waited for a server to acknowledge us or come to the table after 10 min. The cheeseburger wontons came to the table before my cocktail I ordered! Then when we wanted to order more we had to track down the server and when the food came it was less than satisfactory. Never will return nor recommend.

We haven't been here for a few years as we moved south of town. We found ourselves close to the place and had to go as they HAD the best fries in town. Fresh, hand cut, crispy, delicious, and plentiful amazing fries. Now imagine my surprise when the burger showed up with battered frozen fries. Battered..... Frozen...... Fries..... What.... The.... F!!! What use to put Gold in the Nugget has been replaced by a Gilded imposter. Those who've commented on their great fries recently have no idea what they're missing. Hopefully the fries will come back. Until then I won't be back to the Gilded Nugget. On the bright side the cheese curds were awesome.

What a great variety of food. Lobster Mac n cheese is really good. Sandwiches are all good. Great outdoor seating. Drinks are smooth and tasty and service is attentive and efficient. It's a really enjoyable night out to wet friends or family. We will be back for more.

The Gold Nugget is a gold nugget hidden on Excelsior Blvd! My son's baseball team happened to be playing at Optomist Field diagonally from the Nugget the first time I tried it. It's a Tavern with character and really good food! They won the Twin Cities Burger Battle one year! I think they are keeping up that tradition. The most recent time I stopped in the GNT was during Happy Hour. I got a delicious burger and a drink for a great price! The Happy Hour Burger even came with fries for under $10! 4oz Patty, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard, and fries! Plus you got to choose how it was cooked too! Pretty in Pink please. They cooked it to perfection! They have a cafe side to the left which is better for dinner and conversation. While the Tavern on the right has bar/high top table seating and TVs with sports on. Even better was Happy Hour was anywhere inside the restaurant. I love when they do that! I will keep visiting for the handcrafted, delicious burgers and sandwiches. The Happy Hour deals help too. You really can't go wrong whatever you order. Search this little Golden Nugget in Minnetonka out! It's tucked in under an apartment building. Who would have guessed it would be such a rare gem!

I'm in the area working road construction and a friend recommended this place. Came here one night and sat on the patio. Service was bad but we thought it was because we were sitting outside and there was only one waitress. The salmon I ordered was phenomenal. The next night after work we decided to come back sit in the bar. After sitting at our table for 20 minutes we got up and left. They were busy, but nobody even acknowledged us. The waitresses walked right by our table and seemed to do everything in their power to ignore us. We ate at tavern 4&5 instead in eden prairie and received phenomenal food and service and they were just as busy if not busier than the nugget. It was a shame we didn't get service. We were hungry and thirsty after a long day of working in the sun and the nugget staff missed out on a good tip! Edit: I also noticed about 8 plates of food ready to be served sit there for 10-15 minutes.

The food here is pretty good, but nothing special. We met up on a Monday evening and it was just starting to get busy. The decor is warm and comfortable, but the oldies radio station was a little too loud, making conversation harder. The booths are spacious and comfortable and the servers friendly and attentive. I honestly had no idea what I wanted and the variety on the menu didn't make my decision easier. I was considering the "Classic Reuben" until I realized it comes with *Russian dressing - not Thousand Island. Just the thought of heavy, sweet red dressing on my Reuben made that a hard No. We started with the Tater Tots, house-made balls of shredded potatoes and cheese with a bacon-chive sour cream. They were crispy and pretty good. Bacon-chive sour cream is a yummy idea. My son ordered the Buffalo Wings but he got wings that looked more like jerk chicken. Not spicy, definitely not Buffalo. My daughter had the Bourbon BBQ pulled pork sandwich and said it was delicious. I decided on the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich with thick cut bacon and buffalo sauce, and sweet potato fries. The fries were absolutely delicious, the sandwich was okay. The chicken fillet was a little overcooked and I couldn't taste any Buffalo sauce, so I ordered some on the side. It was thin and not spicy at all. I purloined the blue cheese dressing my son got with his wings and that was also pretty thin and had little granules of blue cheese. It was an okay meal but $60 (before tip) for three people and no drinks was a bit steep.

Whoa. This really is a gold nugget! Awesome spot out in the burbs to have delicious food, bring a large group, or watch a game. This place was absolutley PACKED on the Friday evening we decided to go. We were told about 30 minute wait, but it went by very fast--I think we only actually waited about 15 minutes. They use buzzers and had plenty of seats for people waiting. AND someone came around with a tray of cheese curds (which were delicious BTW) and serve them for free to everyone waiting, and thanked them verbally for coming to Gold Nugget! If that's not five star service, I don't know what is. When we were seated, I was pleasantly surprised to find the room we were in--an offshoot of the main area--was very quiet even though there were so many people there. It was cozy and great for groups--lots of tables for 4-10. Our waitress was fun and was joking around and having fun with other waiters, which was a great sign. I wanted to try everything, but also do not want to gain 500 pounds, so we decided to skip the appetizers (which all sounded amazing) and just do entrees. We both opted for burgers, which seemed like the obvious choice when at Gold Nugget. I chose the People's Burger, and the boyfriend chose the Paul Bunyan Lucy. I think it's so cute and fun that they do a Burger Battle every week! My burger surprised me--winner of the Battle for 22 weeks--the People's Burger was sweeter than I anticipated because of the jam. Delicious, nonetheless! However, I was pretty jealous of the mile high Paul Bunyan Lucy my boyfriend got and made him give me a bite. It was amazing! Now we need to go back to try the others. Elk burger will be my next choice. BTW--they do have gluten free buns! I was so thrilled. Sweet potato fries were delicious and perfectly salty and crispy. Fries were great too. In all, amazing experience here. Will definitely be back!
