So we booked at this Establishment in November 2025 to spend our time and celebrate our wedding anniversary in January 2026.
When we made the booking we did phone and request an early check-in as we were traveling from another province, we where told on the phone that the request had been noted to our booking.
Upon arrival at the Hotel around 11:30am, we encounted Njabulo at front desk, who is very racist, unhelpful, arrogant, stubborn and disrespectful. Didn't greet us properly in a welcoming manner. No smiles or "welcome"phrases It's as if he is doing us a favour, by being there.
First he said the room isn't ready, we then came back an hour later and he then Told us bluntly we can't check-in until 2pm. We were tired and exhausted from traveling.
While we walked around the hotel we spoke to one of the cleaning staff and she confirmed that our room, with particular room number, is cleaned and ready a long time ago. This made us furious 😠 😡.
We went back to reception at 2pm. And witnessed Njabulo giving us a very condescending look and again told us to wait until 2pm. Just then another family arrived behind us, from a certain ethnic background, Njabulo was very helpful and full of smiles towards them. Absolute Racism.
Also an Indian lady working the front desk with Njabulo is none the better, she too no proper greeting and welcoming, she doesn't seem to know what she is doing and looks confused all the time.
This is not how it's done in the Hospitality Industry, and we are full paying guests. I am a high level tier of the Southern Sun Tsogo loyalty program and am absolutely disgusted by what we went through.
On the other hand i want to place on record that

Were absolutely phenomenal 👏 🙌 with
Warm greetings, friendliness, smiles, very respectful and considerate, helpful and all-round good human beings. They really know what it means and they know what it takes to be in the hospitality Industry.
This Hotel and it's management really needs to review their employee's duties and put the right people in the right positions. The right people in the right positions makes all the difference for a comfortable and enjoyable stay for the guests.
On the morning of our check-out we go to reception only to find the Indian lady at the front desk, who didn't greet us good morning, neither did she ask how our stay was, which is standard practice in this industry. But then comes Diego who picked us up , and the first thing he asks us is, "How was our stay".
I have stayed at many branches of the brand, but this was absolutely disgusting.
To Njabulo and the Indian lady, thank you for ruining our anniversary celebration, I will be telling everyone i know, about our experience at this hotel, and that they should stay away from it, as long as these two people remain at the front desk.
As a Nation and Country there is already so much we have to deal with together, but then Here comes Racism lifting up it's ugly head at the Southern Sun Tsogo Hotel theme park in Gold Reef City.
