This was a nice themed restaurant where you can eat some good African food and enjoy some entertainment. It is definitely geared towards tourists, but the food and entertainment were both enjoyable. You also get involved with the first performance with your drums at the table. Overall, it was a nice evening with good food, entertainment, and service.

We had an incredible experience at the Gold Restaurant. It is catered mainly for tourists but it is definitely worth a visit to enjoy their traditional menu of 14 dish tasting dishes, which were fantastic. We enjoy every bid of it due to the traditional cooking techniques and the rich spices that bring each dish to life. The life shows were spectacular with great African music and dances. The drumming, dancing and as a matter of fact, the whole show and experience was great. It has an enchanting atmosphere.

Very large restaurant with lots of additional entertainment. Therefore, it is very noisy and the tables are very close together. The performances are a little cheesy and artificial, but okay. It has a strong tourist focus, which also concentrates on large groups and tour buses. The multi-course menu is also carefully orchestrated. Therefore, it feels a bit like mass processing. Nevertheless, the food is good and tasty. Individual courses can also be reordered if you are very hungry.

We had such a great time at this African dinner and show! The food was tasty and full of flavor, lots of different dishes to try. The music and dancing were amazing, full of energy and culture. The performers were so talented, and it felt like a real celebration. A fun and special night we won’t forget!

GOLD exceeded our expectations for food and entertainment. With a sampling of dishes from around Africa there will be plenty of dishes that you will enjoy. They bring you one “tasting” portion of every appetizer and main entree, then you can reorder more of anything you want. The reordering took a little while but we found 4 dishes we wanted to reorder. The service was quick with drinks and friendly. The entertainment was great! There are some seats that don’t have a view of the main stage, but the performers will walk around and do mini performances in all of the side rooms and in the balcony.

Fantastic experience. I would highly recommend. We did booked through Viator. But we recommend going directly with the restaurant to save $40 per person. Not sure if going through an agency is worth it. Possibly you get better or seating for the show? the entire experience was great.

It’s definitely a unique and special restaurant — the atmosphere and décor are impressive. I’ve never seen a place do a show like this before, where everyone has their own drum and there’s live interaction with the performer — that was really fun and creative. However, I personally found the seating very cramped. It felt like everyone was sitting too close, and the chair wasn’t comfortable at all. The staff also weren’t very helpful and came off a bit rude at times. The idea of sharing food with four people might appeal to some, but I didn’t like it — it felt a bit awkward and not very comfortable while eating. As for the food, it wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t special either — just okay, and the portions were quite small. Prices are on the higher side — I paid around 1,300 Rand for me and my wife, and that was just the set menu without any drinks. Overall, it’s a nice experience if you want to try something different, but not something I’d personally go back for.

What an incredible evening at GOLD Restaurant in Cape Town! The food was a delicious journey through African cuisine, and the traditional performances made the whole experience truly memorable. The atmosphere was lively, warm, and welcoming. I also really appreciated how well everything was organized — from the service to the storytelling that came with each dish. It felt like more than just dinner; it was an experience. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Cape Town!
