We had such a great time at this African dinner and show! The food was tasty and full of flavor, lots of different dishes to try. The music and dancing were amazing, full of energy and culture. The performers were so talented, and it felt like a real celebration. A fun and special night we won’t forget!

GOLD exceeded our expectations for food and entertainment. With a sampling of dishes from around Africa there will be plenty of dishes that you will enjoy. They bring you one “tasting” portion of every appetizer and main entree, then you can reorder more of anything you want. The reordering took a little while but we found 4 dishes we wanted to reorder. The service was quick with drinks and friendly. The entertainment was great! There are some seats that don’t have a view of the main stage, but the performers will walk around and do mini performances in all of the side rooms and in the balcony.

Note: Reservations are required in advance. A truly immersive and joyful experience. The tasting menu takes you on a playful journey through African culture with delicious food, music, dance, and storytelling. There is a main-stage performance that moves through the entire restaurant, creating a vibrant atmosphere from every seat. I went once alone and felt completely safe and welcomed. On another visit with a group, I had the same positive feeling. The staff is incredibly friendly, attentive, and always smiling. If you’re seated near the wall, you might need to stand at times to see the show. The street outside is quiet, but there is visible security at the entrance, which made me feel even safer. Make sure to book in advance and arrive early so you don’t miss any part of the experience. Highly recommended.

What an incredible evening at GOLD Restaurant in Cape Town! The food was a delicious journey through African cuisine, and the traditional performances made the whole experience truly memorable. The atmosphere was lively, warm, and welcoming. I also really appreciated how well everything was organized — from the service to the storytelling that came with each dish. It felt like more than just dinner; it was an experience. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Cape Town!

One of my favourite nights in Cape Town—Gold Restaurant is a must. If you’re into trying new flavours and getting a real feel for the culture, this place delivers. The tasting menu lets you try a bit of everything from all over Africa—14 dishes, and not a single boring bite. It’s generous, flavorful, and full of things I’d never tasted before. 🎭 The entertainment is where it really kicks off. Dancers, drummers, and vibrant energy fill the space, and you’re not just watching—you’re part of it. There’s drumming before dinner (yes, they hand you one!) and dancing between the courses. It’s interactive, welcoming, and genuinely joyful. 🕕 Hot tip: Get there before 6pm. That’s when the entertainment starts and you don’t want to miss the opening. It totally sets the vibe for the rest of the night. Whether you’re flying solo or with friends, this is the kind of evening that makes you feel like you’ve actually travelled—not just eaten somewhere fancy. Gold doesn’t feel like a restaurant—it feels like a celebration.

This place should be visited by everyone who comes to Cape Town as it’s an unforgettable experience. The African drumming was really fun as we got to learn how to play traditional music whilst the drummer on stage was both comedic and uplifting. The food was also spectacular as we were able to go through a 14 course dinner, all of which are from different parts of Africa. My favourite was probably the Namibian Venison Pie as it reminded me of my favourite beef pie from school but light years better. I also enjoyed the bread with the aubergine dip in which I believe was from Morocco. I had to eat another portion of bread because it was too good 😅. Suffice to say, the food was magical and delicious. There was also other forms of entertainment such as traditional dances and also the playing of traditional instruments which gave us an immersion into a culture we’ve never experienced before.

Visited 7/6/2025. Loved it. Great ambience even upon walking in, and vibrant performances which move around the room. Middle ground floor is for big groups so if in a small group, best get a table on the upper floor to the left of the stage because there is enough space there for the dancers to repeat their routine when they do their rounds.

We had a great time. The tasting menu has enough items for the adventurous and those less so. The music and show were fun. Loved the face painting. We didn't get to play the drums but did get to dance.
