Nothing beats an extremely filling delicious freshly made breakfast sandwich coming back from a hospital visit like these sandwiches! We aren't in this neck of Toronto that often, but saw some of the reviews and had to try. From the very beginning the staff that works here is extremely friendly and very helpful if you're a new customer. We both tried the " The Gold standard sandwich " ( with the works ) and it was humongous. It felt like a 12 oz beef burger! The eggs were extremely fluffy and delicious, the " Beyond meat " sausage was super crispy, and the bacon with kale only added to everything. There's a small amount of Chipotle sauce or some kind of spicy sauce in the sandwich, it fit perfectly. They had explained to me that we came at a perfect time 9:30/10am during the weekdays because the breakfast sandwiches can be made within 5 minutes. Before and after those times it picks up and sandwiches can take roughly 10 to 15 minutes. The only downside is that there's really no place to sit inside of the restaurant, or outside. You just walk up, place your order and wait. This can be difficult in the winter, but it doesn't take away from how good the food is! Also, the seasonal ginger cranberry drink was really fresh and tasted great!

Honestly, after a fun night that involved too many drinks, this sandwich is my emergency contact. It is straight-up FIRE! 🔥 The bacon is clearly top-quality, but the real magic trick is the holy trinity of scrambled eggs, sharp cheddar, and that amazing aioli. The first bite is an experience—it doesn't just satisfy your breakfast craving; it performs an intervention on your soul and tells you everything is going to be okay. It just hits home. We also absolutely love the setup here! We had our dog with us, so the convenient order window was a total lifesaver. No awkward moments leaving our furry friend outside alone while we sorted out our cure. It’s a perfect spot for grabbing and going. We’ve visited their other location too, and they are both equally incredible. Gold Standard, you are the gold standard of breakfast.

We came on a Sunday morning and the wait wasn’t too bad, about 10 mins after ordering to receive the food. This place is a takeout window located outside so there isn’t that much seating however you can go over to Reunion Coffee down the street for more seating options. We ordered the Gold Standard sandwich with bacon and The Alternative. I personally thought The Alternative was a lot tastier than the Gold Standard sandwich since it had a bit more going on with all the fillings. The Standard sandwich didn’t really stand out taste wise to me and I personally did find the pickles a little odd. I also don’t know how I feel about bacon breakfast sandwiches, I feel like the bacon can come apart easily since it’s in strips. Of all the breakfast sandwiches we tried the ones here were definitely the smallest size wise. We actually were still a bit hungry after eating so if you’re looking for something more substantial this place ain’t it. We also got tangerine juice which was decent, nothing to write home about. All in all, was interesting to try since we were in the area but def not my top pick for breakfast sandwiches in Toronto.

I got the vegan sausage breakfast gold standard and it was really tasty and surprisingly filling. Wait time was a bit long even though the line wasn’t that long but it’s fine food was good. If you are in the area I would recommend to give it a shot it’s tasty! FYI there is no seating so keep that in mind!

This place is a neighborhood gem!! It's a kitchen with a window, that's it. Absolutely delicious smash burgers (single or double patties) , breakfast sandwichs and a few other items. The staff are enthusiastic, efficient and very welcoming. You order at the window then wait on the sidewalk with the other customers until your order comes out. A few outdoor tables are shared with the coffee shop next door. It's really a favorite of mine for a quick lunch, excellent for people watching. I believe they operate in the mornings till 3 pm. You'll be happy you tried this place!!

We typically get the telway and breakfast sandwiches here. Always a great consistent sandwich. 20/10 recommend. There's options for different local/Canadian beverages. There's a outdoor patio that has quite creative furniture. The staff is always super nice.

Finally got my hands on to the breakfast sandwich!!! And man did it not disappoint!! Loved it!! The bacon was crispy, not at all oily and the egg was just perfect. First bit and it just melts in your mouth. And yes it’s wrapped in gold foil. lol

The burgers are very basic for the price tag. I tried but not going back again eventhoug they are just 3 minutes walk for me. I asked for a napkins, but nowhere to find when I got the burger.

A friend raved about the breakfast sandwiches here. When we arrived it was a storefront and no seating. We ordered the gold-standard sandwiches with bacon, and a Telway burger, and waited 7 minutes. The cheese and egg were soft, the bacon was perfectly cooked, the bun was soft, and there was a slight kick; overall it was a good sandwich with a good balance of ingredients and flavours. There was also a slight kick to the sandwich. Accessibility: free and paid street parking available. Neighbourhood benches for seating, but no seating by the store. Streetcar accessible.

Come get your damn breakfast sandwich and don't look back. I was also thinking "how good could a breakfast sandwich be?" Come and find out. The spice cuts the fattiness, perfect bacon, and a soft fluffy egg. I'm coming back again and again and again.

Ate through the alternative and the Detroit style burger so quickly didn't get photos! Happened upon this place as I saw a series of people cueing up at the window and curiosity was peaked! The mebh is simple but the two thing a we sampled were made to order and delicious! The burger was juicy and the bun to everything ratio was just perfect. Super light bread and tasty patty and melted cheese was exactly what I didn't know I wanted and I had to barter with my kiddo as it was a hit for kiddo too. Who doesn't love an English muffin? Always looking for meatless options and this one didn't disappoint. Flavourful, hearty and satisfying. Must return and try out more options! (and take pics of the bites!)

Such a good breakfast sammy. The pickles make it imo and just the right amount of hot sauce My only complaint is that it wasn't a bit bigger! Also a heads up, this is just a to-go window. There's no seating - just a small bench outside. But still worth going here!

Local staple for coffee and a breakfast sandwich. The gold standard was the staff meal at the iconic Federal restaurant on Dundas West. If you're wanting to eat it fresh and hot order from inside reunion island and get a coffee with it. This place is almost always busy so go early! Food starts at 9am ;) One of the fav spots for the nomadic worker vibes.

Delicious!!! A nice spot to grab a breakfast sandwich in the go. The setup is a take out window off on a side street - they share a space with Reunion Island coffee. Had the bacon breakfast sandwich and really enjoyed it. The pickles were such a nice touch to cut through the grease. Prices are fair for the area and half the price of any brunch restaurant. Good spot if you want a casual bite on the go.

It was good but honestly just tasted like every other breakfast sandwich just overpriced. nothing overly special or out of the blue. were the egg soft, meh, was the bun soft, sure, but nothing that's worth $10.

I've heard great things about Gold Standard, so on a gorgeous sunny Saturday morning, I decided to give their sandwiches a try. While the address is listed as being on Roncesvalles, the store front is actually on Neepawa Ave. A small menu offering a selection of sandwiches is posted besides the window where we put our order. I opted for a Gold Standard Breakfast Sandwich with bacon (scrambled egg, cheddar, aioli, pickles, hot sauce, english muffin) and a Four Guys Burger (two beef patties, bacon, cheese, caramelized onion, mustard, sauce, pickles, lettuce). The breakfast sandwich was tasty, with good amount of bacon. The burger was alright, but other places offer a better tasting burger for better price. I'd recommend sticking with the breakfast sandwich here. At the present time, the Four Guys Burger is cheaper if ordered from their website ($10 online, $11 onsite). Ordering onsite incurs an automatic 15% tip; customers can choose how much to tip when ordering online. Service was ok. Street parking available. TTC line 504 serves the neighborhood. TLDR; good takeout breakfast sandwiches

I've heard great things about this take out breakfast sandwich spot in Parkdale and am SO glad I finally gave it a try. I ordered the Gold standard breakfast sandwich filled with bacon, pickles, scrambled egg, cheddar and aioli stuffed between an English muffin. The egg was fluffy, the bacon was crunchy and the pickles were slightly sweet, the aioli brought all the flavours together and the English muffin was slightly toasted but nicely tender. SO GOOD and moderately priced too, I wish I ordered 2 since each one was on the smaller side but justifiable since it was only $7. Also tried the coleslaw which I would probably skip next time but OMG this sandwich... Definitely recommend!

One of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. If you think to yourself "should I get a delicious breakfast sandwich?" and you're in Toronto and don't go here, you're making a mistake. Ordered one, and it was so flavorful and delicious that I had to order another right after.

Get the breakfast sandwich with kale and bacon. Do it. You won't regret it. Gold Standard is the definition of a hole in the wall. I came across their location on Roncesvalles Av and there were people waiting around for their orders, everyone was so happy and eager to eat. I was very impressed and will be back again to try the Detroit burger

An excerpt from a longer review... "Traffic at the tiny window was steady while I waited. The guy rotated between handling cash and going back to the griddle to prep la nourriture. I'm all for multi-tasking, but I'm not sure if he washed his hands in between. About once every ten minutes, the would call out orders. People practically ran to the window to fetch their gold packages. I watched as one customer unwrapped his sandwich and sunk his teeth into the English muffin. The scrambled egg, melted cheddar, pickles, aioli and hot sauce dripped out from the corners of his mouth. It looked like a sandwich dreams were made of--striking a balance between greasy and glam. Twenty minutes went by. The guy came to the window again and called out an order. Two people who had ordered after me went up to collect their gold packages. I was getting a little peeved. But, at the 30-minute mark, my solo sandwich finally arrived. I carefully folded back the gold foil, observed the thin sandwich, and took a big bite..."

In a city filled with great breakfast sandwiches and smash burgers, the takeout window Gold Standard stands tall. With a short menu of meat and meat alternative burgers and breakfast sandwiches, Gold Standard has perfected what they do. I typically opt for either the Gold Standard breakfast sandwich (one of my favorite breakfast sandwiches in the city) or the Telway Burger (a Detroit style smash burger). I opted for the latter today. The Telway is a delicious smash burger. Fresh bun, perfectly cooked patty, perfect amount of cheese, some onions, pickles and mustard, this burger so easily that you'll consider getting a second. The service is super friendly with a simple system; set your order and then someone will have it for you in 10-20 minutes (depending on how busy it is). This place really lives up to its name!

I've been a long time lover of this amazing sandwich place! Tucked away off of Roncy, this is my go-to spot for a weekend breakfast sandwich. I usually go for the classic breakfast sandwich, but have heard great things about the Telway burger, too. This place is definitely on the pricey-er side for the amount you get, but it is REALLY good.

Gotta like the simplicity. 3 sandwiches, 2 I care about (burger, breakfast sandwich w bacon). This area is full of prissy white folks, so the lower ratings are mostly whiners cuz they can't make their orders as special as they are... make the order, pay, wait a few minutes and go away and eat it. Nice, simple. Don't believe the haters, RONCY is full of the high maintenance types, with their dogs and precious babies. Only reason not 5 stars, $6 each a bit pricey. For small items, will go back tho, only open TIL 3 pm.

One of my favourite breakfast sandwiches in the area! Always such a treat when I'm able to order them for me and my work buddies (they're starting to look forward to it every month). I've yet to try the rest of their menu, but will definitely try them one day!

It's hard to say no to any food item offered out of a window. It just seems so casual and fun, and the convenience can't be beat. So we walked up to the aforementioned window around 1:15 on a hot Wednesday and I ordered the Telway Burger ("detroit classic, all beef patty, mustard, american cheese, onion, pickles"). The dude behind the counter pulled a burger out of a drawer and I was immediately a little concerned. How long ago was this hamburger assembled, exactly? My concerns were needless. The foil wrapping essentially steams the burger, and all the flavors wind up kind of melding together. The soft, pillowy bun works really well, though it is admittedly a little too big for the small-ish patty. (My first few bites were bread only.) The concoction actually resembles a traditional slider more than an actual hamburger, but given that legitimate sliders are completely absent in the city, I am definitely not unhappy about that.

Absolutely love their classic Gold Standard breakfast sandwich, built on an English muffin with scrambled eggs, bacon, kosher pickles, aïoli and hot sauce. Everything came out super hot and fresh dripping with saucy goodness. The English muffin was super fluffy, the scrambled eggs were still runny and it was stacked with bacon. Honestly, best $6 we've ever spent. Would definitely come back and recommend!

Too $$$$ for what it is. When my friend asked for no pickles they said they were not doing day mods. It's a pickle just don't add the pickle. Makes no sence....

Heard about this place ages ago, finally was in the area to give it a try. I find myself at a figurative fork in the review road. On one hand, I appreciated the concept and super friendly service. The place is clearly popular, with customers popping in and out non-stop. I love the casual window and easy menu for choice. On the other hand, the burger was simple and mildly expensive for its size. I found myself asking what the big deal was. I liked my experience, however in a city teeming with hamburgers, I'm not sure this would be my go to. Worth a try though!

This place is my go to, as my boyfriend lives three minutes away. I'm not gonna lie I love their breakfast sandwiches. But only recently have their management, staff and "house rules" gotten slightly meaner and rude. They recently introduced a rule where the won't allow modifications. I asked them for no pickles and they're like "sorry no can do we don't do mods on weekends" in a b*tchy accent. I see the cook behind her listening in and putting four pickles on my sandwich simultaneously. This rule I assume is to curb the traffic but there were literally no other people in the line and it was as empty as can be. As I've been coming to this place since it opened, I would just appreciate better service. I might have to stop coming. -edit: still extremely rude, I definitely will stop coming here

Love this spot! My go to breakfast sandwich is with the vegetarian sausage patty. There aren't any seats around there but you can probably finish your sandwich quick just standing on the block.

Saw some people scarfing burgs outside on a cold day and realized we were hungry for one, too. Paid our money ($6 each) and headed into the bookstore around the corner to browse for the 10 minute waiting time. The gold foil wrapper is a super cute touch. If you're familiar with the steamé hotdog from Quebec, this is like the burger version, and it WORKS. The egg bun gets steamed and gummy inside the foil and the cheese slice melts. The bun stands up to the heat and tastes great. No dry crumble bun here. This is a nonsense slim patty with the perfect toppings: onions, pickles and moutarde. Perfect snacking.

These are top notch breakfast sandwiches and burgers out of the back of Reunion Coffee. Soft, steamy, saucy, and squishy. I could have used a little more hot sauce but aside from that it was pretty much perfect. Prices are reasonable. The only thing I wish they had was drip coffee. You have to go around the corner to another window to get one.

My experience at the gold standard breakfast sandwich takeout counter. I'd like to start off thanking the English. They fucked up most things in the world that they endeavoured to do but they invented a hell of a muffin. There is no breakfast sandwich without an English muffin. So to you, Queen Liz.. I solute you. I'm forever in your servitude. Now lets get to the gold standard. Thats a hell of a name considering it could be argued that the real gold standard for breakwiches comes from under a certain set of arches. Also gold. But I have to say that I am going rate my experience as a 9.5/10. Yes those are some Tonya Harding numbers, but the only thing broken here is the drive to roncesvalles. Why is Dundas always slow? Theres NOTHING on it? I digress... The sandwich - The muffin is perfect. I didn't know there coulee be a 10/10 muffin but there is. The mayo, the hot sauce, the PICKLES?! Its perfection. I order the one with bacon and the one with kale and ate both. Was the bacon one better? Sure but theres bacon in it. The kale one held its own much more than expected though. It was delicious. The coffee shop was great too. Fast service and great coffee. They even had a rare flavour of Loop juice that my wife didnt know exists. Ha she's so silly. The only negative form the whole experience was that $6 was a tad high for a breakwich. But Fuck it, its beyond worth it.

Good burger BUT make sure you are there before 3:00. I was turned away at 3:02 even though they were cooking and people were in front of me. Not the friendliest neighbourhood establishment, and it's just a window .

Went to the new location on Queen and asked for no hot sauce on our breakfast sandwiches, but "no modifications on weekends". REALLY?! All you have to do is NOT add an ingredient, plus we were the only customers at the time. You're in Parkdale; adjust your attitude accordingly, and take note that this is how you lose business. Needless to say, we didn't enjoy our sandwiches because we were forced to abide by this rigid policy, and definitely won't be returning customers.

I dream of their breakfast sandwich. With bacon or with kale, both options are delicious. The staff behind the window are friendly and the price is right too. One of our favourite food spots in the city, Gold Standard has become a weekend staple. It fits right in with the neighbourhood vibe too.

Hands down the best brekkie sandwich in this city... and quite possible the world. I want it every day.

Terrible! Tried to get a breakfast sandwich for my 4 year old daughter, they refused to not put hot sauce on! "No modifications" on weekends apparently, but making a sandwich without hot sauce is actually less work and less materials, makes no sense that they wouldn't do it for a young girl when there was no line or anybody waiting. Ridiculous and disappointing. I said I'd get one with extra napkins to wipe it all off they thought that was reasonable.
