Golden Acre Park

What a lovely walk in nature. We were lucky enough to see the frogs crossing the paths. It has the friendliest squirrels, they come really close to say hello. The birds are beautiful too. Lovely little cafe to stop for an ice cream. So many gorgeous flowers and butterflies too.

A beautiful place with so many different routes to explore. You could spend hours here getting lost in nature and spotting wildlife. Plenty of places to rest whether you want to take a picnic or visit the cafe. There's toilets, ice cream van and the parking is cheap

A very lovely and huge park. Peaceful scenic walks and a beautiful lake with Swans. There's a couple bird hides with beautiful views.

I thought I knew everything about this park no, but to my surprise it is bigger than I thought) t there are plenty of paths around, if you want to get away from the crowded path around the lake. Now lilacs started blooming and there are lots of them on the paper ground above the tearoom. There are many species of plants and flowers specifically, which I love, starting with early spring. What I also enjoy that the park has information board around the park to ensure visitors autonomy and educational experience while they are enjoying the views the walk and the company. The park is pretty much family grandly with lots of lawns to play, table in the shade fur having snacks, and of course children like the lake. Surprisingly the swans and ducks are not frightened with so many people are d and the lake is quite picturesque. They say it was way bigger in earlier days. I suggest that the park exhibits the photo from earlier days on their information boards to celebrate their long history and popularity among visitors of all ages and several generations.

We had a very nice morning walking around the park with our dog. There’s a few car parks on either side of the park with plenty of spaces. They’re free to park. Lots of guided paths to follow with maps everywhere. The wildfowl lake was popular with the kids! The gardens are currently bare due to winter, but I’m sure it’ll be beautiful to visit in the summer. There’s a dog friendly cafe with a selection of cakes and hot/cold drinks, and ice cream! Looking forward to returning in the summer season for music on Sundays!

Great place to walk, beautiful views, have not been there for a while, first time discovered a place with flowers, it was amazing :)

Beautiful surroundings, went for a run through the park and can safely say this will be a regular place to clear the head after a busy week. Although I did not visit the cafe I could see it was busy which is always a good indicator. In terms of the terrain there are some muddy parts but also some with a path suitable for buggies etc. Well signposted throughout and ample parking facilities dotted around the park. Good for running, walking and dog walking.

Just beyond Adel is Golden Acre Park, a place I've gone to regularly since I was a child, and loved every time. You can get to it from the main road out of north-west Leeds, or, like I do, through the woods between Adel and Cookridge. It's perfect for any outdoor time you need - walking, running, dog-strolling or just chilling out and tossing a frisbee around. It's a very well preserved park - there is never any litter or stray dog muck, and the warden and gardeners do a splending job keeping it looking pretty whatever the weather. In the middle of the park there's a huge pond with loads of interesting wildlife to look at - but don't anger the geese (I've been chased by them a few times) by just feeding the ducks. There's ample free parking and a nice little cafe, making it the perfect park.

This is the sort of place that really, I mean *really*, makes me miss being at home in Gloucestershire. It is just so beautiful. I think the fact that we are so lucky here in Leeds so as to have such a well maintained and beautiful green space just on the outskirts of the city centre is a real marvel. I can't imagine many other cities being so lucky! The main deal here is the walking. I won't bore you with more detail than that, I am sure you'll know how to put one foot in front of the other, but this is what we're talking about here. Sunny/crisp days and a lengthy stroll - it's great for the system and great for the soul. Bring your dog, your wife, yourself, your camera. Use your imagination, if you will, there is more fun to be had here and it is all for free. Whether it's the wildlife, the greenery, the air or the escape there are endless reasons to come and see what this place is all about. I heart WY and I heart Golden Acre Park. The end!

One of the wonderful things about living in Leeds is how little you have to travel to find yourself completely immersed in nature, and while the peaks and the moors are both a short drive away you don't even need to go that far - just six miles outside Leeds is the beautiful, 55 hectare Golden Acre Park. Originally a pleasure gardens built in 1932, the park comprises a variety of themed gardens - including the inspiring Demonstration Garden - a lake, arboretum and wild meadow area, where local plants are encouraged to grow freely. It's a great place to while away a sunny afternoon, especially in autumn where the colours are fascinating, and if you're lucky you might even spot some of the resident wildlife. Apparently deer and heron crop up regularly in the park... although the best I've managed to spot is some geese.

Bored of walking my dog at my local park (Hyde Park) I hopped in the car in search of Golden Acre park which my boyfriend had recommended. I was pleasantly welcomed by rolling grass verges, small streams and beautifully kept gardens! It was a really nice change from Hyde Park. It was much quieter, much bigger, much better kept and was perfectly set up and welcoming for dog walkers. The park has a family vibe with lots of families picnicking and playing sports with their children. I watched some very picturesque scenes which weren't dissimilar to those in film's. They left emotional me a little teary while watching my little dog run around the woods! For me what make Golden Acre brilliant is its wildlife! The gardens, woods, forest, streams, arboretum and meadow area each bring their own natural beauties including a huge variety of large, sweeping trees, beautiful flowers, geese, ducks, owls and hundreds of different birds. (a labelled on their wildlife guide posts) Without sounding too much like a granny before my time, the park makes a really enjoyable afternoon out and a pleasant change from the city centre. Think it couldn't sound more wonderful...well...Golden Acre has its own cafe. So do as I did, finish your walk, calm the dog down and have a cup of tea and carrot cake at the cafe while looking out upon the gardens!

Whoever said the best things in life are free, well they need a little nod and a wink at this juncture, because, in a world where we're all so caught up in having the latest technology, and being dressed in the nicest clothes our budgets will allow, or paying over the odds for a once in a lifetime experience, sometimes it's just nice to grab a bag, a blanket, a book and a buddy, and relax, walk, sit, enjoy, stroll, point and coo at the lovely greenery, flower displays, small streams, the railway garden, and oh alright something you have to pay for, the cafe kiosk which offers snacks, meals and liquids for you to replenish levels on a lazy day. It's clean, never spotted any litter or doggy doodie, which is always a plus point when you're laying out a blanket or rolling around on the grass, or running...slip and fall into that...nasty. Trouble? Never encountered any trouble of any sort. Easy to get to? Aye, there's a couple of buses that run up there, and if you're driving there's simple directions and parking provided, also free of charge.

Golden Acre Park has a trampy, mental goose that always chases me. I don't like it. He looks like he needs a wash. Beware the scary goose.

If you want ducks then this is your place. This park has a large pond / lake in the middle and is the ideal place to take kids along to feed the ducks. Close to the Meanwood Valley trail, it's an excellent place for walkers and cyclists too. And there's plenty of space to sly your kite if you take one along. Can be very busy with dogs, so be aware if you don't like them. It's popular for walkign dogs and for letting them roam, but sadly you stumble across the odd dog poo too :0( Still it's completely free, but you may have to wait for parking as it can get busy.

Beautiful place to go for a relaxing walk around the lake. So refreshing and well looked after, best park in Leeds!! There is plenty of parking on the opposite side of Otley Road where you can take the tunnel under the road that brings you to this glorious park. There is a cafe and a small childs railway. Agreat place for all the family.

Great nice relaxing day out, great walks and ducks to feed. take a ball and have a kick around, picnic tables. there is no actual park to play on but kids love exploring the walks and finding the bird boxes in the trees. There is a cafe, gift shop and toilets.

Golden Acre Park is a lovely place for a walk. There is a nice walk around the lake and through the woods then out the other side across the fields to the far car park. I always enjoy going there, with or without my dog, as it has very nice gardens and scenery. The ducks and swans are great as well as long as your children don't get chased by them. But it is lovely to feed them as there are so many. There is a great cafe and plenty of benches to sit down for a while. The flower gardens are especially pretty and full of many species of flowers with a small maze in the centre and a sun dial. In Summer there is so much colour in there, it looks fantastic. Very enjoyable!

A very nice place for walks and feeding ducks and geece, only fault (or bonus depending your preference) the car park used to be (still possibly could be) a dogging site :/

Great place that's often spoilt by the barking, snarling dogs of irresponsible dog owners that find the aggressive action of their dogs funny! The park needs rules and more importantly someone around to enforce them before a child gets harmed.

Golden Acre park is one of my favourites, You can follow the nature walks or go and feed the ducks and swans or have a picnic or go for afternoon tea in the coffee shop. Great place for all ages to see the wildlife or go for a long walk and get some free exercise.

A massive park with nice lakes and loads of routes to walk. A few nice little gift shops and cafes, loads of space for picnics etc. Feed the ducks or just chill out.

I've been to Golden acre a fair few times with my little son, and have pushed him the length and bredth of it in his buggy. There are really good paths all around this beautiful little spot, making a buggy push fairly easy. There's plenty of open grass space to the back of the park, as well as another car park which is usually less busy than the main parking spot on Otley Road. We've had lots of picnics in Golden acre as it's such a nice spot. The cafe is small and always so busy, hence the picnics, but does sell ice creams (walls prepacked type) and has some toilets. We only tend to come up to Golden acre for walks when we don't have much time, it's a pretty small park and it doesn't take long to walk round. When our son was small and would sleep in his pram we used to walk round a couple of times at least so he could have a decent length nap! The gardens, especially the dahlia collection, are lovely and I think are best seen towards the end of the summer when they're fully blooming.

its a nice place.. plenty of geese. lol. a nice day out if you like to walk.. i feel they dont try as hard as they used to wth it. expesialy when you see the old photos in the café.. non the less. its a beautiful place to relax.

A beautifully kept park, well worth a visit. The lake is lovely to walk tound and always full of a wide variety of ducks so dont forget to take some bread. Some times the geese can be abit frightening as they are very large and very loud but I am told they wont harm you. It is very pretty to visit in sring when all the flowers are comming into bloom and its great to take a picnic and spend a lazing day there chilling. There is usually an ice cream van parking in the car park whic is a nice way to finish off the day.

Free to visit and has beautiful grounds. It has a small cafe there for a nice tea or coffee!
