We had the pleasure of staying at the Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort last week during the winter festivities in Lake Placid and it was an amazing experience! You can’t beat the location of the hotel, nestled in the downtown area close to all the bars, restaurants and other fun activities like the Olympic Oval! We stayed in a lakeside room with an amazing view of Mirror Lake covered in a blanket of snow with rinks carved out for a pond hockey tournament. The room was spacious, clean and well-equipped with a cozy fireplace that made the chilly evenings very enjoyable. The beds were very comfortable and the rustic decor added to the winter lodge charm. Our stay at the hotel was everything I could have hoped for during a winter getaway - cozy, scenic, and filled with rustic charm. We can’t wait to return next year!

I’ve been going up to Lake Placid for over a decade now, but this was my first stay at the Golden Arrow. It was awesome. My wife and I stayed in one of the suites and we loved the view of the lake! We were there during the Can-Am pond hockey tournament so we woke up to the view of people skating around the lake each morning. We also loved all of the personal touches, especially the stories of how the hotel was started and the family that still runs it. I think our favorite spot was the bar made out of ice on the lake side of the hotel where you could grab a drink and admire the view. The location was great, as soon as you walk out you’re greeted by shopping, cafes, restaurants, and bars. Definitely check out Generations, the hotel restaurant, while you’re there for food or drinks. The staff were all super nice. Parking was easy and there was always an open space. Would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to spend a little time in Lake Placid and the surrounding areas.

It was our first time at the Golden Arrow and already planning our next trip back! My husband and I enjoyed everything from the beautiful views of the lake, to the friendly staff, to the unique rooms. Also, the location is perfect! Walkable to activities, bars, restaurants and shops. It was a perfect get away for us as couple, but would be a great for groups of friends looking for relaxation and adventure! Also, as we were checking out, the couple in front of us were already booking their summer trip back as well. I can’t wait to see what it’s like in the summer!

First stayed here in 1978 as a five year old and it is so great to able to return with my wife and kids. It was great stay, the property, location and staff are top notch, the room was great and sitting at the fire pits in zero degree weather was awesome. I dropped my work cell phone when we were leaving and they mailed it back to me promptly. Great property and great staff and I hope my kids will bring their children here in the future.

Incredible first visit to the Golden Arrow! The Resort was everything we could’ve wanted for our vacation. Our charming balcony overlooked Mirror Lake, where the Can-Am Pond Hockey tournament was taking place. So fun to see all the skaters and walk on the lake. Best part of the room was the fireplace!

Golden Arrow was the ideal hotel for our family's Christmas vacation. The location was unbeatable, with stunning lake views from our room and easy access to all the restaurants and shops on Main Street. We were pleasantly surprised by the updated room, though I'm not sure if all rooms have been renovated. We thoroughly enjoyed the hotel amenities, including the pool where our 1.5 year-old daughter had a blast, and the relaxing sauna. The on-site restaurant, Generations, was a delicious and incredibly convenient option. The hotel had a lively, festive atmosphere with lots of families enjoying the holiday season. It was a wonderful, joyful experience.

My fiance and I stayed at the Golden Arrow for the long weekend, and it was the best decision we made! We were in the Haystack room, and it was the perfect room for our getaway. The jacuzzi in the room was great for relaxing, and the fireplace kept the room toasty. We loved the amenities the hotel had, especially the hot tubs and sauna! However, the best part of the stay was Kim! As soon as we walked in, Kim made us feel like we were home. She congratulated us on our engagement and suggested Jimmy's for dinner after a long day's drive to get there. She even called the owner to reserve a table for us! She also gave so many suggestions for things to do throughout the weekend! This weekend was perfect, and Kim was a huge reason why! If you're looking for a place to stay for a night, a weekend, or any length of time, The Golden Arrow should be on your list! I never want to stay anywhere else.

Google
This was our first time staying at the Golden Arrow. Obviously, the location is second to none being right on the lake and having access to not only the village with shops and restaurants, but the Olympic Center as well. The front desk staff, especially Kim, were so friendly and helpful. The room was large (we stayed in a 5th floor Marcy Room) and very comfortable We loved being able to step out onto the balcony and watch the kids skating on the ice and dog sleds running around. The only thing I would suggest would be to put in more comfortable sofas, as we enjoyed sitting in front of the gas fireplace and relaxing. We're looking forward to returning yearly!

Yelp
If you want to book this place do it especially if you live hours away! The time we booked was off peak season and not around a holiday resulting it to be affordable for the weekend. The drive to this resort in October is beautiful and so worth it. I will highly recommended the lakeside view and won't regret it when waking up every morning. The service was what you should expect in a hospitality industry. The location is very convenient to the lively Main Street. We will make it a tradition to come back to this resort.

Yelp
Gorgeous hotel located right on the lake . The views are gorgeous. Lovely honey soaps and creams. I love all the offerings of water sports available on the lake. An absolute dream and I look forward to returning soon!!

Yelp
I went here for a wedding! The food served was absolutely delicious. The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. Our room had a beautiful view of lake mirror and the wedding turned out amazing. Thank you!

Yelp
To preface, my family and I have been coming to Golden arrow for over 7 years now booking multiple rooms as part of an annual trip to Lake Placid/Mirror Lake. The first couple of years were exceptional. Even during covid I absolutely loved everything about this place. Over the past couple of years it's changed a bit in my honest opinion. With this latest trip confirming some of the issues I had previously experienced. Firstly, the gym sauna wasn't operational for a few years now. I know initially it was probably a covid issue, but I haven't seen it running the last few times I was there. Not a huge issue, but it would be nice to be informed. The gym itself was good and I enjoyed being able to get a workout in, so no complaints there. A lot of my issues are with regard to the lakeside area. There are 3 fire pits for the entirety of the hotel. While it may seem adequate, people go out at 9AM and put their towels and clothing on them to claim the area all day...like until 10 PM. So it's a mad scramble to try and secure a spot, especially if you have little ones that want to roast marshmallows. On the topic of finite amounts of items, there are around 12-15 water items like boats, paddle board etc. for a few hundred rooms which, in my opinion really isn't enough. It would also be great to have someone hand out towels instead of leaving them out. As soon as a new batch is put on the shelf, people will grab 5+ and just hoard them. Finally, there was a wedding going on. I had absolutely no issue with that and they pretty much occur every year I come, however the reception took place right in the middle of the lakeside area without any notice given to anyone as to where guests can and can't go. So you had wedding guests bumping into hotel guests. Furthermore, Golden Arrow enforces a strict No Smoking policy which is great, but when members of the wedding are coming lakeside to smoke cigarettes, it's a bit much when sitting with my kid by the fire. All in all, I've always loved Golden Arrow, it's our hotel of choice every year when visiting mirror lake, but as of late it just feels like it's beginning to slip. It saddens me because I have absolutely no issue paying the premium they charge, but not when the amenities aren't what they used to be. All that being said, I'll probably be back next year, but I would be lying if I didn't say that I'm looking at other places that are similar.

Yelp
My wife and I visited Lake Placid for anniversary and stayed at the Golden Arrow. We were greated promptly and the check in process was fast. We stayed in the Normandy Room located on the fifth floor and gave us an excellent view of Mirror Lake and the mountains. The Normandy Room has a king bed, stand-up shower, jetted tub, and fireplace. As much as I wanted to use the fireplace, the weather didn't necessarily cooperate to do so. The resort is great and has plenty to do, which was a slight downside as we really explored Lake Placid and the surrounding towns. Definitely a place for families as the activities available would allow a family to enjoy themselves easily. The resort is on the main drag in Lake Placid, near the Olympic Center and the great shops as you head to your left as you leave the resort. The design of the resort was great as you make your way to Generations Restaurant and the "Mall" using the connecting floors between the building wings. Parking is good as they have 4 lots and the front desk will tell you which to use to keep yourself close to your room. Definitely a bit on the pricey side compared to some hotels in the area but you definitely get what you pay for. Highly recommend Golden Arrow.

Yelp
Our favorite hotel in the Adirondacks. Beautiful grounds and an absolutely fantastic staff who always go above and beyond to make sure your stay is enjoyable. Located in a fantastic spot to access all the downstown shopping and Mirror Lake. The rooms were recently updated and are just as impressive as we remember with all of the modern amenities. They made my son's 13th B-Day very special. I am very thankful. The time of season really does not matter here.

Yelp
Great place to lodge. Clean, spacious. Great view or Mirror lake. We were very satisfied with our stay!

Yelp
I love this place. Every fall I dork out about the leaves and make a 3 hour trip to Lake Placid. Last year I stayed here for one night and fell in love. Last week I stayed for a couple nights and it was just amazing. Room with a view of the lake and everyone working there is super nice. Even the view from the gym is incredible. Anyways, I can't recommend this place enough. These negative reviews are ridiculous and annoying. Shut up. I think I'm going to have to start making a spring trip too.

Yelp
Stop reading and book now. I've traveled widely and stayed in lots of places (great and not so great). The Golden Arrow is in a class by itself. It is not fancy (exactly), but it is an elevated stay. The location is the best in Lake Placid - steps from everything you'll want to do in the village. The location on the lake is second to none with its white sandy beach. They offer amenities out the ying-yang: from canoes and paddle boards to the indoor pool, steam room and sauna. They are dog friendly too. The only place we ever stay in LP. Love it.

Cathy E.

Yelp
A wonderful place to relax. The view from the room is beautiful! Clean room. Very easy walk to the shopping stores. The food is very good also. I will book Golden Arrow again.

Yelp
Great for families with kids. They can take out rafts etc easily. If your an older couple I would avoid this one. We were very fortunate as we had an updated room that was cozy but our relatives ended with more outdated rooms. Overall it needs an overhaul which could be pretty expensive to do. Otherwise it was a nice stay and the service was excellent.

Yelp
I stayed here for a day and had a nice lakefront room with a whirlpool tub. I thought the price for a 2 person room was a little on the high side for one night. The room did overlook the lake and had a nice balcony, but otherwise was carpeted and didn't feel like it warranted the higher price. The front desk was kind and nice, but the resort didn't have any amenities like snow shoes or spikes which would be useful for guests this time of year and would help justify the higher prices. The bed was comfortable and the whirlpool bath inside the room was really nice. I definitely appreciated the tub to soak in before a long hike. I wish checkout was a little later, but overall - the free parking garages were nice, especially in the winter. Overall, I had a pleasant stay aside from the sticker shock of the one-night stay.

Yelp
4.25 Close but just shy of perfection. --Warm and friendly reception and staff --Grand view by fireplace in lobby --Wonderfully comfortable room with another gorgeous view and private balcony overlooking the Mirror Lake --Fascinating history that matches the "maze" of hallways to various parts of the hotel, pool, restaurant, Fitness Room, Alpine Mall and more ...and then...uh, parking lots --Parking Lots are strangely situated and confusing to access BUT can be reached inside during inclement weather --Restaurant is quite nice --Private beach with Kayaks and Canoes - nice perk --Walking distance to many stores and restaurants and the Olympic Hockey Rinks and Museum --Reasonable driving distance to other Olympic Venues --Value for the price GREAT

Yelp
This review has been a longtime coming considering we stayed at Golden Arrow in July (eek!). I know nothing about winter stays and activities, but can say the summertime -- during the pandemic no less -- was pretty great. We had never been to Lake Placid before, and our deluxe, lakefront room was a dream. Golden Arrow (to me) is a mix between a retro hotel/motel in style on the outside, and rustic getaway on the inside. As a note, it is a bit pricey to stay here as the rooms are up there. Thankfully, parking is on site (below ground), and the stay includes daily access to the mini beach. With the pandemic, and tons of people around town, it was cool that the only folks who could access this little beach are hotel guests (had to wear a bracelet). The hotel also did a pretty good job of trying to distance chairs away from others. Though we only stayed for three nights, there was still a lot to do. You can take out kayaks, canoes, those paddle boats, and some other stuff that is included in your resort fee. Our children had such a great time swimming in the water (there are kid and adult life jackets), going in the boat on Mirror Lake, and soaking up the gorgeous view. Our room was a decent size, and the bathroom was really great. Since some rooms face the street (meh), pay the extra money to face the lake -- you won't be disappointed! All in all, Golden Arrow was a lot of fun. We might need a bigger room next time, but boy, was this place peaceful!

Yelp
Had a really nice experience here at the Golden Arrow. Front Desk staff was friendly and helpful offering local information and things to do. Room was nice, cleaned once while we were there do to COVID but plenty of supplies were in the room and the front desk had plenty on hand if you needed anything. I would recommend this hotel, nice lake views. PS Parking is fun and mostly underground.

Yelp
We had never been to Lake Placid before but knew between Covid and the winter weather we'd be spending more time in our hotel room than normal so we booked the Normandy suite to ensure we'd have a lake view and balcony! It was worth it and you are right downtown. It was an easy walk to all restaurants/bars/activities on the lake as well as the Olympic museum and speed skating circle. As far as lake activities there was dog sledding right outside of the hotel as well as a skating rink and the toboggan chute was very close to the hotel, just a five minute walk on the lake. We were very pleased with our room and location- it's not a super modern place but the room matched the photos and we used the fireplace every night because they give you a very easy crackle flame to use and matches to light!

Yelp
We chose Golden Arrow about a month ago when we found out our AAU Basketball Team would be playing in a tournament in The Historic Lake Placid, New York for a youth basketball tournament against kids from all around the state. From the moment I called the front desk(don't use Priceline), and Kim answered my call and became my navigator for the next month. She got me set up with my room for a busy weekend very quickly and even found a discount that I didn't know I qualified for (due to the bball tourney). They could've easily charged us full price. From that moment on, the staff and marketing team at Golden Arrow have stayed in touch through email showing their excitement for our trip. Anyway, showed up after a super long "Beautiful" drive through the Adirondacks to be greeted by KIM. I walked in the door and she remembered me from well over a month ago when we booked our room (no cc required to reserve was also a nice feeling). Kim, and the whole staff here at Golden Arrow are amazing and I am sure they are going to have a great 2023 in Legendary Lake Placid!!! #1980HockeyGOLD

Yelp
This is my 4th year at this hotel and a lot has changed for the worst. I'm sure I'll get an interesting response from management with some excuse as to why their amenities are so filthy but there's never an excuse for any area in the hotel to be this dirty especially after Covid. I didn't want to post this review so I gave the hotel a chance to fix it first and they failed. I spoke with the manager on January 30th and explained my concerns with the amenities such as the sauna, steam room, hot tubs, and pool area showers/bathrooms/changing rooms are filthy with mold, dirt and filth but not much was done. They swept the sauna a little and it was still disgusting and not sanitized with dirt everywhere .Everything else that I spoke with management about was ignored. Please see the below photos for proof. I will file my complains along with all photos to the state. Cleanliness is nothing to be ignored.

Ron W.

Yelp
Positives: Great location downtown Lake Placid; Staff was also great; Generations restaurant is attached to the resort, no need to go outside; Great for families with young kids, swimming and boats are great to keep them occupied. Cautions: If your not cool with lots of little ones running around you should go elsewhere; Ask for rooms away from the beach area. We were in room 211 which overlooked the beach area and was loud at times. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Yelp
Just left this place about 4 days ago. Stayed for a wedding in town and was there from a Thursday to Sunday. I can't say enough good things about this place. I got a room with a lake side view (king size). It was really great. Clean and very comfortable. Check in was easy. Parking wasn't hard to find. Had a spot out front first day but then parked in the garage the other nights after we left for a hike. Bed was comfy. We had a leather couch and a nice balcony with a couple of chairs to view the lake. It had gorgeous views and the amenities of the place are nice too.... free kayak/sup boards/paddle boat rentals. Also happy hour specials at the restaurant next door attached to the hotel is a plus. Everyone was super friendly. Access to the little beach is great and if you can't make the beach there is a pool and a whirlpool! And I appreciate that this is still a family owned business. I will definitely be coming back!!

Yelp
Absolutely love this hotel. Location is perfect, free parking, incredible views, clean rooms! Every single employee we encountered greeted us enthusiastically with a smile. We found the room to be very clean, and the decor updated. You can tell they have been working to upgrade the hotel, and have been listening to reviews! Many rooms overlook the lake, and have a view of the mountains. Free use of canoes, paddle boards, and kayaks. Sandy beach. Excellent indoor pool area with 2 hot tubs, a sauna and a steam room. Walk to all the shops, restaurants, and attractions in Lake Placid. They even surprised us with and anniversary card and small gifts on our anniversary. Regular rooms are very nice, but the specialty rooms are even better! The hotel is very environmentally conscious, and that is a very nice touch. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is that the rooms can be a touch pricey depending on when you want to go. I would come back every single year if it were a bit more affordable.

Yelp
Location is great. Lobby with ceiling height windows with lake view. We got village side view room and it was not bad in the winter. Room is a bit small with no desk but it has a cute small patio. Consider paying extra for the lake view rooms in the other seasons since it will be nice sitting in the patio looking down the lake. Staff are nice and friendly too.

R M.

Yelp
The property is beautiful and the lake access is awesome. The only reason for the 3 stars is the fact that they close down the lobby at 10pm. It's the only gathering area. It has couches, a fireplace, and a great view of the lake. While the kids were skating on the ice, the parents could gather enjoy each other's company and also watch their kids. After 10pm the stores and restaurants were all closed. So it felt like a prison after 10pm. That's my only knock in the place. If they're going to enforce that policy as hard as they did, they should have another gathering area for families to sit and chat. Besides that, there is a tiny attached mini mall, access to a nightclub, and a fabulous hotel restaurant/bar with great staff. Fix that one flaw and it's 5 stars all day.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Our third visit to the Golden Arrow and the view cannot be beat. Cozy and comfortable, we've been here in winter and in summer and fall more in love each time. Shout out to Vinny, who knows the meaning of great customer service and made us feel like the most special guests at the resort.
google avatar

Maestro L.

Yelp
To start off customer service is amazing. Well trained staff. We stayed on the 5th floor with a balcony. If you decide yo do that you wanna stay on the opposite of the boat beach and fire pits. It has an all inclusive beach which is nice but can't support the people space and chair wise. You will not enjoy the peacefulness of lake placid. It gets loud. So 700 bucks for a room with a balcony was somewhat of a waste. The restaurant food was mediocre at best and the bar area was dismal. We will opt for the crown plaza next time it's much much cheaper.

Yelp
For over $1100, you, too, can stay in room 401, Morningside Suite, for two nights in September. Our party of six was reasonably accommodated and comfortable enough for two nights. Our room was located closer to the Alpine Mall and relatively secluded from the rest of the hotel. The room had two restrooms, three beds, and a gigantic window overlooking Mirror Lake. I was relatively disappointed by the lackluster level of cleanliness by the window that overlooked Mirror Lake. There were quite a number of deceased insects in that area of the window near the dining room table, but I'm glad I cleaned it before our 2.5 year old got a chance to touch it. The large hot tub needed a bit of cleaning, but the other restroom was quite clean, and the rest of the room wasn't bad. The floor of the room itself was spotless as well. The suite itself is gigantic. I'm a rather rotund 6 feet 2, and fit just fine. The little kitchen with all the cutlery, microwave, and coffee maker were great touches. The suite closets needed a few more hangers, but we made do. It was kind of weird leaving the room in the mornings because there's literally a coffee shop right outside, with a line in front that may extend to the entrance of the suite. Funny and awkward glances were sometimes exchanged, haha. The two nights stay minimum requirement for this suite made it lose a star. We had initially wanted to just explore the area for one day and one night, but two nights worked out, even though almost this entire area can essentially be explored within a day or so.

Yelp
Stay here!! Wish I could have stayed longer!! Only stopped here for one night but took advantage of everything it had to offer!! Amazzzinng view from our rooms deck (as pictured). Loved how the water activites were so easy to take advantage of!! Kayaks and water bikes and whatnot were complementary and were always available! Loved the staff too!

Yelp
We loved this place so much was came back a month later. Great family atmosphere! Clean rooms! Friendly staff. Beautiful lake and plenty of fun things to do in mirror lake. The best thing about the lake is that there are no motorized watercrafts so the water is calm for paddle boarding, kayaking, and swimming.

Laura B.

Yelp
The bed was surprisingly comfortable. When I think about large hotel chains, I think of my back and neck hurting at the end of my stay. But the pillows and mattress just seemed perfect for my needs. In terms of location, I was far enough away from the elevator and the doors leading to the parking to keep my stay quiet for sleeping. Which leads me to an important point. During my stay, we go a foot of snow dumped on us. My car stayed tucked away in the parking garage, thank god. I do not recall seeing any other hotel with a garage, so this is a lifesaver. Keep in mind the time of year when you are traveling. If you are participating in hockey events, it's a no brainer. But if you are traveling for couple time, you'll be in for a rude awakening with all the kids of all ages running around due to hockey tournaments. From what I understand, they start in January and run through April. I also took advantage of the dogsledding, which was $10 per person and a total hoot. They show up in the morning and make a path on the lake. They start taking customers around 10:30. The toboggan run had closed earlier due to the warm weather.

Yelp
I took my fiancé here for his birthday. I had booked one of their lakeside rooms. When we checked in, I was pleasantly surprised to be complementary upgraded to the Normandy. Loved this room! We had a king size bed that was very comfortable. The room also featured a balcony that overlooked the lake and a whirlpool tub. Definitely a beautiful room. The venue itself was fantastic. It had an awesome inside pool, hot tubs, sauna, and steam showers. The also had a very good restaurant on site called Generations. Very good food. We are there for breakfast one day and another time for dinner. Overall I have to say this place was phenomenal. We would highly recommend staying here and when we visit lake placid again we would absolutely book here again.

Yelp
If I had to use one word to describe this resort, I would probably use the word "perfect". This resort has it all! The rooms and the pool are so amazing! The beds are extremely comfortable, and I love the wonderful Adirondack decor. Whether you have a lake view or a town view, the view is great. The Adirondack decor at the pool is also wonderful. The pool is nice and big, and the hot tubs are great. The Generations Restaurant connected to the hotel was also amazing. The food was SO DELICIOUS and everyone was so friendly. Additionally, the Alpine Mall CONNECTED to the hotel made buying souvenirs so easy! Finally, the lake. The FREE BEACH and FREE LAKE EQUIPMENT really sets this resort at the top. The lake was gorgeous, and being able to paddleboard everyday without having to bring a board was awesome. The Golden Arrow is truly one of the best resorts ever. It is a "must-book" for your Lake Placid trip!!

Yelp
We found this hotel via trip advisor. It was our first time visiting the area and we didn't want a chain hotel. I'm very pleased with our choice. So much so we booked another weekend for February 2017. The staff was friendly, rooms were clean, great central location in town to the many bars and restaurants. Lake view was amazing and they're pet friendly. Also loved the private beach access, kayaks and canoe for use. Excited to see what fun we can get into on our winter visit.

Yelp
Liked: We booked the Deluxe King- Lake Front room at end of January and was delighted with our experience. The room was clean and well maintained, and they are truly dog friendly. They even had a small "Welcome Bag" for our dog upon arrival - nice touch. All dog friendly rooms are located on the Main Lobby Floor, which is the 3rd floor, which provides easy access for walks out to the main street. We stayed on a Monday - Thursday, and it was quite quiet throughout the town and in the hotel. The bed was comfortable, the room was spacious, and the hotel even had large bins near the elevators for guests to toss out their trash since there is no daily cleaning service due to COVID. The hotel keeps a gas-lit fire pit on until approximately 11pm each night for guests to enjoy, and keeps a light that emits a soft glow pointed on the ice "rink" for those guests who want to enjoy it after sundown. FYI: There's a shop 3 doors down where you can rent ice skates. Which leads me to: it's a great location. It's on Main Street where a lot of the restaurants and gift shops are located. You don't need to drive anywhere else and leave your car parked at the hotel. You can also easily walk to the Olympic Museum and the outdoor Olympic Speed Skating Oval for ice skating as well. All employees were lovely, and friendly. Whether it was a emphatic and genuine "Good Morning" or helping answer questions over the phone. Would highly recommend. Disliked · While I didn't ask and offerings may be restricted due to COVID, it would have been nice for a food and water bowl to come with the hotel room for those bringing a dog. Also, would have been nice for the main floor/outside parking lot to have had snow removal. The snow in the parking lot was heavily packed with snow by the time we arrived, so unsure if this is just the "norm" for outdoor hotel parking in the area this time of year. This is coming from someone in NYC, so maybe it also is my own comfort level of driving (and walking) up and down the entrance/exit to the hotel on this terrain. Again, there are options for covered parking on Floors 1 and 2.

Yelp
We accidently ended up getting a room on the worst week of the year according to the locals. A lot of the local site seeing things were closed. So we ended up in the room longer than we expected. It was a cozy room with a beautiful view of Mirror lake. The resort has many nice amenities and has many exits to various areas of Main St. The pool and hot tubs are very nice. I didn't get to use the gym area but when I did see it, it was fully equipped with machines and weights. There also was a nightclub which was dead but might have been nice during the active season. I also saw a beach, but it was too cold to use that. They have an attached restaurant that was closed for the 1st day but had a nice breakfast. It is close to all the good restaurants and the Olympic rink. The front desk staff is really nice too.

Yelp
The response from the manager made me drop my rating further. Please do not blame the guest for where you fall short. The experience should be satisfactory whether I pay for the least expensive room or the most expensive. Maybe the Groupon special should have stated the room was old and dated so expect a not so stellar stay. Shame on you. FYI, the K-Cups provided in the room are an off brand. It tastes disgusting. That's not a perk.

Yelp
I had an amazing stay at Golden Arrow. The service is great and the view of Mirror Lake is breathtaking.

Yelp
Note: this review is geared only towards the front desk staff. Receptionist was very rude. She talked over people and had an attitude answering basic questions. Very poor customer service.

Yelp
This hotel was amazing. The staff was extremely nice and constantly checking in to make sure you're having a great stay. The views were awesome and the hotel was very cozy. The restaurant was nice and the food was great. I had breakfast and dinner there two times. Only thing I'd change is offer free or less expensive breakfast. Highly recommend and would come back again.

Yelp
We went through this place for the DOG SLEDS!!!! It's an amazing once in a lifetime experience to do, so come out here to have seven cute dogs pull you for a 7 minute ride around the lake!! They can fit up to 4 people per sled, and it's $10 a person. We waited for about 45 minutes in 15 degree weather starting around noon. There was a longer line behind us by the time we got in, though, so come early! They start at 10am.

Yelp
I wanted to give Golden Arrow 3 stars but bumped it up to 4. Overall we had a nice stay but I may check out other hotels if we were to come back to Lake Placid. Room: We stayed in the Tabletop Room which had a full kitchen and living room. It was also a handicap room so there was a lot of space. There was a partial lake view from the living room which was ok - it wasn't that big and down below was an overturned boat and a rough looking lawn. Oh well. The TVs were big and the room was very clean. The bed was a king and quite comfortable. Also it was very quiet, I didn't hear a peep from anyone around us which was really nice. Bathroom: The bathroom was big and had tons of toiletries and towels. The shower was awful though - a tiny stream of water that you couldn't adjust, no water pressure at all, and scalding hot! Service: Very nice staff at the front desk - but the front desk is kind of disjointed from the hotel entrances and exits. I like a hotel like this to have a lobby at the center of things and the only time we were in the lobby was to check in and check out. The housekeeping didn't show up until 5pm on the Friday we were there. They apologized and said they were crazy busy, and we sent them away since we didn't really need anything cleaned up, but still - kind of unprofessional. Parking: Free but kind of a pain if you don't get a spot in the main lot - which is impossible since there's like 20 spots in there. If you have to park in the lower levels it's fine, just kind of tricky since the ramp is only wide enough for one car but is still a two way road. The lower levels are also pretty dark and tight to park in. Location: Great location right in the middle of downtown Lake Placid. Walking distance to the Olympic Complex and Museum as well as to Main Street and all of the shoppes. Other/Misc: Speaking of the entrances/exits to the hotel, there are many of them and none had key swipes, they were just open which made me a little nervous like anyone could just walk in. The lobby has a great view of Mirror Lake but the most uncomfortable seating I've ever experienced in a hotel. I couldn't get over it. Free wifi that was fast! The website gives the impression of a private, quaint lodge-like hotel. But apparently Golden Arrow is owned by Best Western and definitely had a big, homogeneous hotel feel. I was hoping for something a little more personalized and unique here. Price: Pricey! The jump in rate from Thursday night to Friday night was pretty shocking, even at the off season.

Yelp
Terrible customer service. I've been frequent visitor to resort and could not make latest trip. Manager I spoke with was NOT flexible and insisted on penalty fee. Not a good business decision as I will not patronage such a poor customer service hotel. There are many other places to stay. Golden Arrow should value keeping loyal customers instead of being short sighted with penalty fees. I would have been a life long visitor and welling to pay their high fees but not any more. Very very poor business decision and I hope owners of this facility train your staff better on customer service because it's the only thing that can set an establishment apart from the rest.

Yelp
Overall our stay here was very good and we would come back. This is not a luxury hotel/resort by any means, so don't expect it to be. However, the fact that they are right on the lake, have various lake equipment (canoes, kayaks, paddle boats, etc.), and indoor pool (comes in handy in the rain) and are well located are all huge pluses. Service is on and off, had two very pleasant interactions (at check in and checkout) and two not so pleasant interactions when I came to the front desk to ask a few questions. Some of the people at the front desk should either get hospitality training or get out of the businesses. Beds were very comfortable for all 4 of us. Bathrooms could use some updating (we stayed in Rm106). This is a 3 - 3.5 star hotel and you need to expect that when coming here. For the price the value is great. If you want 4 or 5 star, I think there is another place in Lake Placid that fits that bill.

Yelp
Love it here! Feels like home. Beautiful, big beach with tons of paddle boards and kayaks. Nice cozy rooms. Great location. Friendly staff. Thanks for the hospitality!

Yelp
Once great hotel has now become a joke. 10pm curfew, $10 charge for "wristbands" to prove you are a guest, $5 gratuity per day for a hotel that doesn't even clean the rooms daily. Can't beat the view but hotel is a disaster.

Yelp
This place is in poor repair. Pealing wallpaper. Electric outlets that don't work. But the worst is the convoluted layout and really bad parking. There are 3 garages very tight parking. Two buildings that only connect on 3rd floor. But a lack of signs make it easy to get lost. I wouldn't let kids wander to pool as we got so hopelessly lost we had to call the front desk from our cell phone in side the hotel! There are two elevators but they don't tell you that. One elevator has third floor marked 3 and another marked "L". Why they don't have clear markings. There are 2 towers north and south. But rooms aren't marked N or S. Room was not cleaned and hair was in the sink and I stepped on an old patato chip by the bed. Yuch.

Hello P.

Yelp
I wish there was a 3.75 because that is what this resort would have been. It is a good place to stay, right next to the lake, relaxing pool, and and kayaking. But there could be some improvements. 1) the rooms smell like the fire place. At first it smelled nice, but after a while it gave me a headache. 2) The room service doesn't change the sheets. You have to ask for the sheets and change them yourself. 3) The sand on the lake is really hard. That is not their fault, but I thought it was worth mentioning. 4) There were a bunch of little kids from about 7-16 running around every place I went. That is also not their fault, but the fault of the lacrosse tournament. Note to self, don't visit a small town during a lacrosse tournament. 5) The restaurant connected to the Golden Arrow was terrible. They only sat 25% of the restaurant, and not because of COVID. They said that they were so under staffed that they couldn't seat more than 25%. We had to wait like 50 minutes for a table. When we finally got seated, they were out of over half of the menu! Thankfully the restaurant was was right next to other restaurants, it I don't know what I'd do. Overall, the Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort is a pretty good place to visit. Right next to Main Street, so you can easily walk to the different stores, right next to a relaxing lake, and an indoor pool. I definitely recommend this place, if you don't mind the stuff above.

Yelp
Great hotel on the main strip and everything (but skiing) is within walking distance. Tons for the kids to do- ice skating and dog sledding right out back, and a toboggan slide about a 2 minute walk down the lake. One of the workers, 'Cousin Vinny' was exceptional at making us feel welcome. No matter what you needed, he was able to accommodate us within 2 minutes. We visited with a bunch of families and everyone felt the same about cousin Vinny! The way he worked, he must've been exhausted by the time he left for the day/night! Thank you Vinny! As long as you're working there our crew will be back several times a year!

Yelp
This place has potential to be the coolest hotel in the Northeast - town is charming - lake is gorgeous - location is perfect. That being said this was the worst hotel room i have ever stayed at (including in this comparison Redroof Inn and hotels in third world countries) and for mere $400/night.Our room was "balcony village view" - it did not have a balcony or village view - it was a glass door coming out into a dark corner of a parking lot with some construction materials piled high. Furniture in the room was not changed since the last time Olympic games were held in Lake Placid. i don't think it's unreasonable to expect a little update once a decade. Falling ceiling panels and a desk that you wouldn't find with sign "free" on the side of the road is not something i would expect to see in the room at this price point. Considering current Covid times and new regulations pertaining to cleanliness and sanitation i would expect hotel room to be cleaner than usual - not the case in this hotel - dental floss in the bathtub - hair in the fridge - thick layer of dust on the closet shelves. There were no amenities - Gym closed - Pool closed. Front desk employees were short and unavailable. I have sent numerous emails to check if we could upgrade our room to lakeview - never got any response. (Sorry we are all booked is also an acceptable response). The beach (including all nice amenities - kayaks, SUPs, recliners, towels, diving platforms) was very nice and very convenient if you are staying with kids. Beach staff was excellent - friendly and accommodating. Everything (except the beach) in this hotel is below acceptable level.

Yelp
I stayed 3 nights/4 days at the Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort in Lake Placid, NY May 2021. It was bright and sunny and in the 70s the whole time! The resort is cute, cozy, and has a warm friendly vibe. I stayed in the Haystack Specialty room on the second floor. The room was spacious with a very large tub, separate walk in rain style shower, microwave, coffee maker, and large fridge (you could fit a lot in that fridge if you wanted to bring your own snacks/water/coffee creamer!) There is also a private balcony overlooking the small beach and pristine Mirror Lake. The beach is private and includes fire pit areas that are lit each evening. You can also order drinks from Generations (the restaurant attached to the resort) and bring them out to the beach if you'd like (we did this so we could drink around the fire pit, it was a very good time lol). I did not notice many children at the resort but this may have been because it was pre-Memorial day weekend. The resort was quiet, clean, and had all the amenities you could need. There is an indoor pool with multiple jacuzzis, bar at Generations, secluded beach, beautiful lake, many fire pits, and the resort is within walking distance of many shoppes, including the Alpine mall. The staff was warm and inviting, the room was fully stocked with shampoos, extra towels, and coffee. The room was immaculately clean, which I appreciated due to covid. I have not stayed in any other suites at the resort, but I will say the Haystack was gorgeous. I will include pictures. The fireplace was so cute, the bed was large and comfy, and the room reminded me of a Hallmark movie ! We had a great time and will try to come back during the snowy season!!
