Great place to rent a bike if you find yourself in Golden, CO. We stayed in Arvada and decided to make the 12 minute drive, and then opted to ride North Table Figure 8 Loop. They hooked us up with some stellar bikes and gear for the ride...I gave an e-bike a spin and what a ton of fun! Kat and Kevin were exceptional with their service and knowledge.....Highly recommend!

I was traveling through Denver on my winter vacation and ended up catching some amazing weather for January. Of course, I decided to rent a mountain bike and hit the home trails where my brother rides. I rented the bike the night before we wanted to ride and it was ready for me when I walked in the store 10 minutes before they officially opened. The mechanic got me set up in no time. She was knowledgable about the bike and I enjoyed a nice conversation with her about our different adventures in Colorado and Montana. The bike was in tip top shape and my ride was amazing, and not just because it was 60 degrees on January 3rd! Thanks Golden Bike Shop! Next time I am in Denver, hopefully I will have brought my own bike down so I won't need to rent one, but I will definitely stop in and say hi. Happy Trails!

The GBS crew is the best! I've been coming here for a few years now, and they always treat me (and my dog) like part of the crew. No matter how busy they are, they always try to help me out in a bind. Their love for bikes is palpable, and Kevin and his team run a tight ship. I was lucky enough to ride with them at the annual Yeti Gathering in Telluride and had a blast. I consider these guys my friends, and it's good to know I can support a shop full of such good people!

Was able to find a new fork from them and they Threw it right in the stand and installed it so I could get out and go for a ride. Highly recommended shop if you’re in the area, Lots of great inventory also picked up a new saddle

Without question, GBS is the best bike shop in the Denver area. Great selection of bikes and accessories, and even better service. The staff knows their stuff and can help get you in the right ride, or quickly diagnose an issue on your bike. They're patient with your questions vs. giving you the often seen 'bike shop attitude', and will often turn around a quick bike service in the same day. They're also very fair in their pricing: I needed bearings replaced in my hub yesterday and first stopped by a big shop in Wheat Ridge (which is closer to my house). That shop didn't have the parts in stock so needed to order them for ~$50, and then were going to charge me $100 for installation. GBS had the parts, and installed them for $50 with parts and labor included, and did it in 15 minutes. Outstanding service.

I've been demo'ing bikes from GBS for near a decade now, whenever I'm in the Golden area and the weather cooperates. They have fantastic bikes, a great little retail shop, and are just a pleasure to interact with. This past time, I demo'ed a Pivot TrailCat with a high-end build. They prepped the bike beautifully for my 245 lbs weight and bulldozer riding style, and were a joy to geek out with while the bike was being readied. I was out the door quickly and was thrilled with the bike for the three rides I snuck in in my allotted time (Apex, N. Table, Marshall Mesa). I'll definitely be back to demo again the next time I'm in town with good weather, and I might try to buy remotely from them in the meantime from CA. Great shop. Edited: grammar

Update: The crew outdid themselves this time by getting ahold of a limited edition bullit for me. Thank you so much - this is my dream bike that I have been building up to since the yeti sb5.5 I bought from you almost a decade ago (shoutout to Reilly Harbach, one of my best friends now). It has been a long journey, & the bike arrived at the moment I was ready - to take it & crush left hand (no crashing). Shout out to Sean, Alex, Q, AJ, Emil,Kevin, Lance, Kat, Brad, Hoby, & Nathan. Shuttle laps at DS w/ pops?! I have been doing there demo program, which is great because the cost of the demos goes towards the purchase of a bike, so long as you buy one within six weeks of the first demo. Riley B. Has been helping me for the most part, and is very knowledgeable and gives great advice and pointers; however, all the staff I’ve interacted with have been great. I am getting towards the point when I will purchase a bike and will update after that. Another nice perk is that once you purchase a bike, you can get 20% on gear in the store for a month. Great options for bikes: Yetis, Pivots, Santa Cru Mondraker.

I rented two Pivot E bikes this past weekend for family that was in town. The staff at Golden Bike Shop were super helpful- having the bike set up and ready to go. When I returned with a broken skid plate on one of the bikes, they charged me their replacement cost, which was only $27. Thanks Kevin! I would highly recommend Golden Bike Shop.

Walked in with a bottle of KY and chaps, walked out with knowledge and a newfound respect for bike shops. Kade took the time to go over my pivot in intricate details of my brakes, rotors, chain, sag, and overall suspension with a deep knowledge and passion for his craft. This shop holds true in that they provide services only when necessary and make minor adjustments when not. Give the kid a raise and a chili cheese burrito, he's your Golden child.

Visiting from out of town, I discovered that my rear wheel was not spinning freely, causing the chain to come off. Nathan looked at my bike right away and discovered that I had installed a spacer in the wrong location. Re-installed, straightened my rear derailleur and indexed my gears, all for no charge. I really appreciated the friendly service. I understand why my son always takes his bikes to this shop for service. Thanks Nathan.

Wow. Ordered a new Pivot Firebird on Thursday and was built and ready to roll on Wed the next week ( 6 days ). This does not always happen, but was great to get great service Big thanks to Alex for taking order, Kevin for building the bike, Andrew for help with pedals :))) and Taylor for taking my money :))))) These guys are great. Make note, they can service Shocks in house as well as Forks. Shocks are a real treat to have done locally vs sending out. Thanks for the Great Service Guys. Love Love the bike !!!!

This bike shop is awesome! Super knowledgeable staff that are really patient and will walk you through each of the bikes. Had a great experience with demo bikes and choosing my new bike!

Me being an idiot, forgot my wallet at home, but that didn't impact the customer service I received at all. I want to give Kevin a huge shout-out for still giving me the best treatment and having a great conversation even though he knew I wouldn't be buying anything. Very knowledgeable and honest. Obviously, I didn't leave with a bike but if I do decide to purchase one, Golden Bike Shop will be the place and Kevin will be the man to sell it!

I dropped in with my old Trek; flat tire and shifting problems. Alex put my bike on the rack and made lots of adjustments, changed the tube and told me to go ride. Gave me good advice for taking care of an older bike. Didn't realize that the shop has a 2-3 week backlog of jobs so I am entirely thankful for Alex's help. What a great business with outstanding folks!!

I needed to purchase a new saddle and Kevin helped me to pick one and he was very knowledgeable and explained the difference between the two that I liked. I then came back and purchased a helmet and glasses and Kevin, Sean and the rest of the team spent at least an hour helping me pick what would be best fit for me. I felt very welcomed and will definitely be back if I need any other bike gear.

LOCAL BIKE SHOP SAVED MY RIDE! Taylor took some time out of his day and fixed my clip on pedal that was jammed and wouldn't release my shoe. It wasn't an easy fix and he spent his time and was able to get me rolling within 10-15min. Taylor Represented not only, Golden Bike Shop, but the community of Golden and bikers. I want to mention that two other members of the team popped outside to see if they could help me as a customer as well. This showed that the entire team cares for us as riders. Thank you Taylor

Disappointing shop. I bought a new bike here, like everyone spent 8k on a new MTB. Love the bike but the shop and service just disappointing. Impossible to get your bike in for service and if you they talk down to you. If you want to buy a bike not a bad place but if you want service I'd go elsewhere.

Wow! These guys are awesome ! I was greeted at the entrance where a very nice man took my bike and delivered it to the mechanic, the mechanic, I wish I had gotten his name got straight to it. He addressed all my concerns, explained what he was doing and fixed 4-5 issues in under 20 minutes on a Sunday no less! I get this kind of treatment at home with mechanics that I know me well but this was a first as a walk in. Thank so much for the great service:)

These guys are top notch. Not only are they helpful and friendly, they have a killer demo fleet (including XL, which is sort of rare) and a good selection of high end mtbs. I've relied on them to help me with spare parts since i've moved to the Denver area, and they have yet to disappoint... and I've needed some pretty esoteric stuff. When they haven't had it, they order it and have it for me quickly. I like seeing local businesses with good personalities that treat people right grow - Net net, they've become my first stop for all things mtb. Hopefully you can try them and they can be yours too.

Needed a quick fix up. Alex was kind enough to lend me a hand and did it with professional skills and an awesome attitude . Will be returning for sure !!

Highly recommend. Couple guys helped me out here and were very nice. They fixed front tire on my bike quickly and only had to wait about 20 minutes despite the fact that they were busy. Great customer service and will come back with any future bike needs!

I rented a Santa Cruz 5010 this weekend and couldn't be happier with the shop and the bike. As an avid cyclists I expect the best and usually dont like to rent bikes.... I want to be on my bike. But when I fly out and want to ride I can't always bring my bike. Golden Bike shop set me up with a killer demo that was in top shape and didn't give me any issues. I was even surprised when they told me that they were even tubeless already All in all, I couldn't be happier If you're looking for a solid bike, check them out

Stopped in for my first time yesterday for a few things, and to get help getting a pedal off. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, and shared a lot of helpful tips on maintaining my new bike. They definitely have my future business.

They got me in fast to put on a new tire which I slashed on Apex. They were super helpful and knowledgeable and helped me get back on the trails the same day. He fixed some things I didn't notice were loose, great customer service.

I dropped 2 MTB tires to have a spoke replaced and re-do the Stan's. They charged me $110. Never ever going back to that shop again.

Really didn't even want to give them 1 star. Went in today for the first time to have them look at my back break pad. was told it was contaminated and needed to be replaced. I was told i needed a new disk and pad and chain. 127.00 in parts Brought it to anther shop over in Wheatridge it took 5 min a tiny cleaning and it was fixed. And they didn't charge me one cent!

Guys we're super friendly and helpful to an out of Towner who wanted to rent a MTB and do some of the local beginner trails.

Stopped by to rent bikes and was completely taken care of by the staff. Great place to go to check out higher end bikes.

Hey I want to give a shout out to the Golden Bike Shop and Tulio. I brought my bike in today with a worn down rotor and the rear brake pad that was gone - Tulo fixed it on the spot as well as making some other minor adjustments so I was able to ride it home. They got me scheduled this week for a tune-up where other shops book weeks out. I am only going to Golden Bike Shop from now on. Thank you for the kind and quick service!!! You guys ROCK!!!

Super detailed crew in the service shop, and incredible service from those guys, especially Matt. Got my bike really dialed, and took care of me for waiting on a replacement part from Santa Cruz. The folks in the front are very knowledgeable, helpful, passionate about biking, and very humble. Props to everyone up there, especially Ryan. This is the place to beat and where I send everyone who asks me about a great local shop.

I'm an avid rider and have been sponsored by numerous shops. Although I ride road I'm fairly new to mountain biking and a buddy recommended this shop for some work I needed done on my wife and i's used bikes. I took our bikes to the mechanic there and, yes I know the bikes aren't the latest 29er Carbon bikes, but both are higher end 26er bikes from '04 and '09 respectively. I felt insulted leaving there. They treated me like a second class citizen due to the age of my bikes and told me not to drop a penny on upgrades but to buy a new $3500 bike because my wheel size was old and the bikes were not what they would ride. They wanted to just charge me $130 for a all new brake set rather than trying a brake bleed on my older brakes. I wound up leaving and going to vista bikes down the street where the treated me like an actual human being and did the brake bleed for $30 no worries. I guess if you have a $3-$7k mountain bike, Golden Bike shop may talk to you like an actual person, for the rest of us, getting into the sport, or with outdated 26er stuff, I'd for sure take your business elsewhere.

I have been going to Golden Bike Shop for easily 8 years now. I am always treated well, great advice from sales reps and mechanics. When I really do have an emergency repair the shop has always stepped up.

We rented two bikes from Golden Bike Shop for 4 days. The guys at the shop were really helpful and got us all dialed in on a pair of Yeti SB100s. They really took their time getting both front and rear shocks positioned for our weight. We had no mechanicals on the trails which is a testament to their care and maintenance of their rental fleet. Great job guys - hope to be back next year for another rental!

Awesome shop. Great staff, great bikes, great location. BUT, it's baffling that they are closed on Saturday, the biggest riding day of the week! Whyyyyyyyy??!!!!!

This place has more bells and whistles than, well hell I don't really know anyone who sells bells and whistles... Take 2: This place has everything you need as a beginner or serious epic mountain bike rider. (They also cater to Cyclo-Cross and road bikes- but me and spandex have a love hate relationship). Their beefy selection of top of the line mountain bikes makes me want to do a Tim Allen impression..whoa ho whoa... You walk in and the place just oozes precision, technical ability, form meeting function. They have a great demo program and great sales on demo bikes. I also love the fact they are closed on Saturday's, which translates to the staff being able to get out and ride, which makes them even happier when they are open on Sunday...when the other bike shop in Golden is closed.

I rented a pivot Mach 429 from Golden Bike Shop in Mid Aug. I am an avid mountain biker and used the bike for a 5 day trip in Crested Butte and a few days on the front range. The rental had racing tires on it, which are questionably appropriate for the local terrain/a rental bike, but what was really bad was the wildly out of true rear wheel and the totally BALD racing tire. A friend picked the bike up for me as I got in later in the evening so part of the blame lies on my side as she could have noticed the flaws, but it was late. I brought it to the attention of the gentleman who checked the bike over when I dropped it off and he said "yeah, thats pretty bad, I wouldn't want to ride that tire either, we usually do a better job" Thanks for the confirmation man. I'll rent elsewhere next time.

I'm new to mountain biking and wanted to try out several bikes before making a decision. I was really impressed with GBS's selection of 29er's and that they offered an affordable demo program; $150 for four demos and they put the demo amount towards your bike purchase. I also liked that I was able to pick up the bike on Friday evening and ride until 11am on Sunday. When it came time to buy my bike, Boe at GBS walked me through my options specific to my riding style/terrain, price points, potential upgrades, etc. He was incredibly professional, knew his stuff and didn't try to upsell me. I walked away with a bike built for me under my budget. See you guys out there.

The folks at this shop were Rad and very helpful! On a road trip from Portland Oregon and stopped in the Moab. My bike broke on the trail in Moab and I wanted to get on a trail today in Golden with some friends! This shop found a way to fix my bike on the spot and didn't charge an arm and a leg to make it happen! Stop in and see what these guys are all about!

I have been coming here since this shop was located in a tiny little area on the other side of Golden's downtown. The staff has always been super friendly and while the bike shops in Golden are more expensive than those here in Denver, this place has saved my butt on several different occasions when I've blown out a tube while on Lookout. They have always never tried to screw men on any service. If you are visiting Golden and you need a sure fire bike shop to stop at this place is reliable and they are not sneaky or crappy.

I bought a new Yeti SB5 from this shop this month and have bought my last 4 bikes from them over the years. I received hours of discussion about what bike I should look at and the components to try out as I worked thru my own selection process. I demo'd their bikes and really got the best bike out there for my riding style & small size. ( I'm 5"1). Ryan Hofman spent a lot of time helping me spec all my parts & Matt service manger has spent multiple times working on my suspension with me. I really appreciate the TLC, the time, and the printed set-up & maintenance materials worksheet I was given. This is a solid shop for sure!

Best shop I have been to for mountain bike service. Very knowledgable staff and good gear to boot. Haven't shopped here yet so not sure how their prices compare, but definitely worth a trip out from Denver. Then hit Apex trail right outside of Golden.

Not friendly service, told me I would receive a free tuneup within a month of purchasing a demo bike and then when I called to schedule told me they don't do that and were rude about it on the phone. I've made a lot of purchases there, but don't think I'll be back.

Golden is lucky to have a few good bike shops, but GBS has become my go-to shop. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and they always some way to exceed my expectations (whether it be turning a repair around especially quickly, giving a good deal on a part, etc.) The shop can get busy. But i understand why, and it's still my favorite place to take a bike.

Just bought my 4th bike in the last 10 years from GBS. The sales guys are knowledgeable and they have great brands like Pivot and Santa Cruz. Would recommend this shop to anyone looking for a new mountain bike.

I have been to a lot of shops, and worked in the bike industry for a lot of years, and I have to say that Golden Bike shop is amazing. They have a ton of really great bikes in-stock, (especially given the relatively small shop space) and they have selected an impressive bunch of brands including Yeti, Santa Cruz, Pivot, and Salsa. Personally, as a mountain biker, gravel rider and fat-bike enthusiast, I find this place to be like a dream come true. It's nice to see a shop without any triathlon or road bikes in it! I highly recommend the Friday Night Fatty ride at 5pm every Friday. You can demo a fat bike from the shop, and keep it the whole weekend for only $50. It's a great group of people, and a seriously good time. Support your local Golden Bike Shop!

I had a major service including the "Super Deluxe Full Suspension", "Fork Overhaul - Deluxe" and "Rear Shock Air Seal Service". After bringing it back for a second look at the bottom link, my bike rides like new again. I picked the bike up without really testing it, so I was surprised by a really loose rear triangle at home. When I brought it back, I got some attitude from the first tech. He checked the bolts and assured that it was fixed - I had to insist he test ride it. After riding it, he felt the same flex. They kept it for a few days, worked with Turner to get a replacement part, and buttoned it back together. The end result was good, but it would have been nice to skip the attitude.

I just learned about GBS today while I was visiting family and looking to get a ride in. They were able to set me up quickly with a nice carbon bike and all the staff are super friendly! The rental process was really easy and the price (considering the quality of the bike) was totally fair! I will rent from them again for sure the next time I'm in town! Thanks guys!

I rented a mountain bike from this shop. I was very impressed with the quality bikes they have to rent. The shop guys took their time to set the bike up according to my weight and height. They also adjusted the brake leavers and shifters to where they were comfortable for me. I highly recommend this shop if your want to rent or demo a bike.

Golden Bike Shop is a great bike resource in downtown Golden. As a novice bike rider, they are always patient with my questions whether it's a little tune up on my bike, buying something new for the bike or just helping me fix a flat that I had out on the trail, allowing me to get home from my ride. I never feel like they are trying to upsell me or talk me into anything. I'll definitely keep using them whenever I need assistance.
