Awesome resort open year round. Great tent or pull through camping sites and cabins, but they book early and first dibs go to the guest to rebook the same sites for next year. Two bathrooms with showers near lodge, beautiful docks and hiking path that lines the perimeter along the lake. Top tier views. Canoe, pontoon and boat rentals available. Not very accessible, theres a step up into the bathrooms and into most cabins, but the campground itself is somewhat accessible. Its a 40 minute drive from downtown Grand Marais. Staff are helpful. Definitely not a party spot, more of an experienced camper, outdoor centered resort. We love it.

My husband and I, and our two pups had camped here in September and absolutely fell in love with the resort! We immediately booked a cabin for the next month as a 76th Birthday trip for me, and it was perhaps the best birthday ever! The cabins are immaculate, sweet views of the lake, bird watching extraordinary! I can't wait to get back. Staff was exceptional and so much fun to get to know! Loved every minute. Thank you.

Stayed here 2 nights and rented a pontoon from them for half a day. The campground was very well maintained. There are 2 docks that they let campers fish off of where we caught a number of small fish with our kids. For our pontoon rental, they had a map with points identified to help us get on fish. Great spot to camp and would definitely recommend to someone looking for the Northwoods experience!

This was our 3rd stay at Golden Eagle Lodge, 2nd time in the cabins and once previously in the campground. Each time it was wonderful and so hard to leave! We enjoyed the ski trail on the lake and through the campground which was created due to the low snow conditions for the land trails. We took advantage of hiking the snowshoe trails which we had never done before. And there were endless opportunities for other trails in the area which we didn’t get to because we were enjoying the warmth of our cozy cabin (and I should mention they also provide hot chocolate, cider and tea for lodge guests, served by the fireplace!). This is a well run family resort with friendly staff. If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful getaway, this is it. We are looking forward to a return visit!

Planned a ski trip over Christmas but had an amazing time at Golden Eagle despite the lack of snow, too wet to ice skate and clouds preventing Aurora or stargazing opportunities. Instead we hiked the property ski trails and nearby trails (Caribou Rock to Rose Falls). The staff was lovely and helpful. The cabins were sparkling clean and well maintained and stocked with everything we needed. Homemade cookies awaited! Mattresses were firm and very comfortable. We loved watching the wildlife partake of the sunflower seeds provided to each cabin. Thank you Golden Eagle for a memorable Christmas 🎄 on the Gunflint Trail.

Got to the campground and was informed the ground was not thawed enough and the water was not yet available. I was not happy as this was the first we’d heard about that. We considered switching to another campground. However, the staff came to our rescue. They hooked a hose from a spigot that was available. |The campground is quiet, spots are fairly private, clean showers, and beautiful location. I would definitely recommend this business.

Yelp
We spent a long weekend cross country skiing at the Golden Eagle Lodge and had a great stay. Cabin #1 is older but comfortable and the lodge had everything you need for a great ski weekend. The location right in the middle of all the area trails was the biggest selling point but would love to visit again in the summer months.

Yelp
We stayed in the campground. The sites are large and nice. The staff was so helpful about which lakes to go on and portage information. Loved the area and perfect location to enter the boundary waters. We will be back!

Yelp
Beautiful location. Great cabins. Only complaint is that during my last stay in late May 2018 there was full-on construction of a new septic system during 3 of the 5 days on the cabin next door. Backhoes, chainsaws the whole 9 yards. Not exactly what I had in mind for a relaxing in the Northwoods. Before booking make sure you check about cancellation policy and impending infrastructure improvements projects.

Yelp
After a blustery and bone chilling cross country excursion on the lake at our lodge, we decided to give the groomed trails at the Golden Eagle Nordic Center a try. I'm happy to report that we had a wonderful time. The trails were surrounded by beautiful snowcapped trees that provided refuge from the wind. The hilly terrain was refreshing, nothing too exhausting or without reward of breathtaking views. -Trail access was $10 per person -Trails were groomed for both skate and traditional skiing -Variety of beginner to advanced trails, majority being intermediate I can't wait to go back!
