Golden Nugget

Another dive bar that's been in the area for years. But this one has been updated to a certain extent. Alot of neighborhood regulars and of course younger crowd on the weekends. Have a few slot machines and a small stage for musicians.

Decided to go someplace different on a Friday night. Really good atmosphere and great music from Luke Roby. It would be a good place to watch sports. Could easily be your new cheers bar. Definitely will return.

The place its very nice.. but the service is not.. I know sometimes the are busy but don't want to wait 20 minutes to get a drink.

Nice place I liked how the outdoor and the inside was decorated with the Donkeys outside to the Mannequin's inside, the door Handle was also a nice touch🙂 the crowd was friendly and the Live band was Awesome! (Didn't get the name Sorry) but they played everything from Prince very good to Journey nice!!! This was my first time visiting there. My friend just moved to the neighborhood so I'm sure I'll be back with her. I would recommend checking it out if you haven't already lmsp.Thanks

I got there late so the kitchen had stopped serving food but u talk about a wonderful atmosphere and the people were so nice. I had a great time with friends and I was able to sing 2 songs during karaoke. It wasn't crowded and it felt very comfortable. This is definitely a hidden gem. Glad my friends convinced me 2 come out. The DJ was awesome.

Actually have been back since the whole place got remodeled and it is quite impressive. Before, you could tell it was very old and needed some improvements but, it had its nostalgia. The reason for the 3 stars was more for customer service and the atmosphere. I brought a friend here after having dinner nearby because they never been. Like how the door handle has a hand instead of a handle or a knob. We go in and just like anyone who hasn't been in, in awhile or never been, we look around to check out the place. One customer assumed my friend was looking for an ATM and said it in a making fun of kind of way, had I overheard that I would've said something, I was further up checking out the whole place and the bar. We go to sit at the bar and browse their very limited cocktail menu. My friend orders an Appletini like drink, I order something with the name Garbage in it, came with a Red Bull. Unbeknownst to me I was supposed to turn the Red Bull can upside down in the drink. According to the bartender she didn't want to come off as rude if she were to tell me to do that. I don't like RB anyway. Even though the place was redone and looks great on the inside, the environment is not very welcoming of new/not regular customers. My friend won't be back, as for me not sure.

The best little neighborhood tavern around, The Golden Nugget has been around for 60 years. It was a hang out for men after work in suits in the 60's and 70's and hard core daytime regulars. In the 90's the line was around the corner for its live music bands and the place to be seen College and beyond. It calmed down early 2000's. Then after a renovation in 2019, the facelift was exactly what it needed with a bigger stage, lights, and now serving good bar food! We have seen great acts here from JD Shelburne to Jeremy Sharfe. Live music every Friday and Saturday. Service is attentive and drinks are cheap and strong. Food is good and seems to be growing with daily specials. It's the last of a dying breed and I like to support locally owned establishments such as this. Golden Nugget all the way!

Where do I start. This is the place to go if you want great service, great drinks, great times, and good food. I'll be honest the food is decent but you don't come here for food you come here for drinks and fun. Come one guys, there are donkeys out front you can lose with, where else can you find that! Also the bartenders are best Casey and Brian are top notch they are always friendly and attentive. I'm telling you, if you want to go to a place that is fun and friendly this is your spot.

We didn't eat last night but we've had the great food before. We were celebrating a very good friend of mine's 21st birthday. It was Monday so no live music, but we did get to enjoy the TouchTunes more than usual. Huge shoutout to Amy Jo for taking care of the birthday boy and making our night special with him. Love this local bar! Bartenders are awesome - personality and strong pours all the way! Love the decor (I'm jealous of the mannequins boobs... so there's that!) and the food is good too.

Where should I begin? I live across the street from this bar. The female bartender is great. The male has the biggest chip on his shoulder. He will hate you and maybe if you please him, at that point he will he bestow you a beer, but only a pint. I'm done with them.

As a bartender here, this is the best place I have ever worked. The customers are always wonderful, we have amazing pizzas, dips, beer cheese. & more! With a cozy atmosphere that surrounds you with candle lighting, , fireplace, to the touch tunes & game corner (plus live music every weekend), we have everything you're looking for. Not to mention being fantasy football headquarters , trivia, karaoke, & the Louisville Poker Tour games (thurs 4 /Sat 3). Come see what we're all about!

Food is good. Karaoke on Tuesday night is always great! Had the Quesadilla last visit and it was one of the best I've ever had!

Well...we gave it a shot. Apparently this place was a neighborhood staple but recently was renovated into a "cooler spot". First of all, A+ on the classier/dive bar decor. Now onto what matters. There were about 10 people in the whole place. The snarky bartender looks at you standing at the service area as she looks you in the eyes while passes you by to have a conversation with the other TWO people sitting at the other end of the bar. Then when she finally finished talking, proceeds to say something under her breath when we asked to close out. I asked the guy sitting next to the service line, "what's up with her?" He lets me know that she's "always like that". Ooook. The twin girls who were playing live music basically took turns while the other one twin sat & socialized with her friends. It was obvious they didn't want to be there. We talked to people who were there before the "takeover", & were informed how much friendlier it was. They said that they only come because they live across the street.

Great neighborhood spot...all the staff are AWESOME...has a modern design with a great vibe. Pretzels and house made Beer Cheese is the best in the City.

So pleased the owners brought this Gem back to life! Good bar food & live music was fun to listen to. Great location with warm friendly service.

Beer is beer. A Newcastle Brown ale tastes the same everywhere. Well almost, a Newcastle at the golden nugget just tastes better because of the fabulous bartenders they have working on Monday and Tuesday nights. Brian and Len are a great team!

My husband & I recently started attending the golden nugget again. We came in last Wednesday during the daytime. Our bartender, Laura, was amazing! Now only was she extremely attentive; she was so sweet & smiled the whole time. I highly recommend visiting this bar! Especially during the daytime!

the classiest dive bar i've been to in the bluegrass state. i could easily pick out the bar drunk, the bar whore, and high roller wanna be. gotta love a good, eclectic crowd. cheap, strong drinks and lots of open seats make for a fabulous saturday night thanks for making my southern weekend extra great nugget!

The best dive in town. I am always amazed when I ask how much my tab is and realize that they are not pulling my leg. Lee is the best bartender, they always have the cheesiest awful bands to dance to and it is always a good time.

Cool dive bar, but the time I went it was so crowded you couldn't get to the bar and was barely standing room only. The band was so loud you couldn't even hear when the other person was screaming at you
