Golden Pearl Tangalle Beach

I stayed at Golden Pearl Tangalle Beach and honestly… it was such a beautiful, calm escape. The hotel is right on the beach, so you wake up to the sound of the ocean and the most peaceful morning vibes. The room was spacious, clean, and had everything I needed. The staff were super friendly and always ready to help — the service really makes you feel taken care of. Food was tasty, fresh, and full of flavor. I especially loved the breakfast with a view — it’s such a dreamy way to start the day. Big plus - GYM

We had a very pleasant stay at Golden Pearl Tangalle Beach during our december vacation. It’s a peaceful place, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the calm surroundings. We got a sea view room, and the view was really beautiful. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the service was good throughout our stay. Overall, it’s definitely worth the money, and I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a calm beachside stay in Tangalle.

We had our wedding at Golden Pearl Hotel, Tangalle, and it was an amazing experience! The staff were very flexible, friendly, and honest throughout the whole process, making everything smooth and stress-free. The service was excellent, and we can confidently recommend this place to anyone planning a wedding or event. We also stayed one night at the hotel — the room was comfortable, the service was great, and the meals were absolutely delicious. Gorgeous property right on the beach. The hotel is beautifully designed, and as it’s only a year old everything is clean, fresh and new. We had a huge room on the second floor overlooking the pool & beach, easily fit our family of 4 with room to spare. Service is wonderful, and the owner is really lovely. He’s also an experienced chef and the food is some of the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka. The most memorable meal of our month-long trip was dinner on the beach from the special menu. So much beautiful food! If you’re in Tangalle, there’s no better place to stay or eat. Can not praise it highly enough.

Beautiful small hotel situated on a lovely beach. The hotel is within easy walking distance of Tangalle town and harbour and lots of beach bars and restaurants. Very large rooms with king size comfortable beds. It is worth paying extra for a sea view room with a huge balcony. You even get a sea view from the shower! Attractive foyer with large pool with fish and turtles. Lovely clean swimming pool with a jacuzzi at one end. Pool towels supplied and you can take your sun bed down to the beach.

Luxurious hotel with great views! Great hotel in amazing location, our room had a fabulous view of the beach. Very friendly, helpful and attentive staff (even at low season) who were always happy to help out if needed. The room was large and well equipped and we had a great balcony to admire the ocean view. Golden Pearl is a short stroll into Tangalle and the staff are happy to arrange day trips if needed. Highly recommended!

BE WARNED! This is not a hotel but a wedding venue. We were a family with 2 young children due to stay here for 12 nights. We were not greeted warmly on arrival and given no information about the hotel. The photos of the hotel look good but must be about 10 years old. Breakfast here is dreadful! You are put in a small canteen with no atmosphere and no other people, laid out is the option of cheap stale bread, cornflakes (these weren't even here the 2nd day and we had to buy our own!) and instant tea and coffee. You are asked what egg you like and after some fruit you are presented with your choice of egg and a cold sausage! There was nothing for children so I asked if they could do some hoppers for them and they said no. There was a wedding here the first day with drumming starting at 8am and the guests blocked the entrance and made us feel so awkward at the hotel. We went to the pool where the children's playground was being dismantled with angle grinders! As we were in the pool and on sun loungers the wedding guests all came out by the pool and we felt very awkward being watched! At one point the guests got my son out of the pool to take pictures of him!! No staff around at all to keep an eye on things, the outdoor bar had its shutters down. The pool toilets were unusable as the smell of urine burnt your nose and eyes as soon as you go in. The staff hardly speak English. On the surface the hotel looks good but the bathroom main shower did not work, the other one sprays all over the blind or the floor as you have to stay in darkness as there is a huge clear window and the shower curtain is about 2 foot away from the bath! The place is dead apart from the endless weddings. We left after 2 nights and ended up in the hotel next door which was amazing and we were so well looked after and we watched on for the 12 days as the Golden Pearl hosted 5 weddings!!! Do yourselves a favour leave this hotel as an events venue for weddings as this is clearly all you care about.

After reviewing several positive and a few negative comments about this place, we decided to book. Upon arrival the place on the surface appeared well kept and clean. The rooms were reasonable with notable disrepair in the around the facility. The pool was small with and even smaller patch of grass, with only a few usable sun chairs. Service was non-existent. The kicker was the wedding that started at 8:00am. Banging drums in the lobby. We weren't even able to get through the lobby with the 100+ people standing there and had to walk up the beach to get out of the hotel. Next was the "included" breakfast. The breakfast consisted of cold, hardboiled eggs, cold sausage which was not even palatable. Stale toast, small amount of fruit, one selection of cereal and instant coffee. We could even eat it and had to go elsewhere for food. Stay away from this place. The one star reviews reflect the actual condition of this establishment. Spend your money elsewhere.
