Golden Rays Luxury Resort, Croatia

What promised to be a spectacular stay was totally ruined by both an ant infestation and the appalling subsequent attitude and approach of the management.||The apartments are indeed stunning and there is a wonderful swimming pool and access to the amazing beach. There was a trail of dead ants in the bathroom after our first night but nothing we couldn’t handle.||On the second night, however, there was an ant infestation - both regular and flying. They were ants of both variety in every room of the apartment, as well as in the bed, bedsheets, tables and all over the floor. They were ants all over our food and landing in our hair. They wouldn’t stop coming in, no matter how many we dispatched. It was absolutely disgusting.||The hotel dutifully sent an assistant to investigate with a can of Raid and a mini vacuum but soon identified that the infestation was too severe and that we had to be moved. As the other apartments were all in use, the management arranged for us to stay in their sister hotel in Šibenik; this included a taxi ride to and from the hotel. As a holding measure, we were satisfied with this.||On challenging the issue the next day, however, the hotel denied that ants have ever been a problem. This is clearly not the case. Two Trip Advisor reviews talk about the ant problem and there was a can of Raid in the bathroom. The taxi driver and assistant had also mentioned to us about how “they have always had a problem with ants” at the apartments.||Management essentially refused to refund any money as they claimed they had fulfilled their obligations by putting us up in another hotel. They refused to acknowledge the fact that not only was our night ruined but we hadn’t got what we paid for, namely an apartment with a pool and access to the beach. We had just come from a stay in Šibenik and if we had wanted another night we would have booked one!||Putting us up in their sister hotel was clearly an established practice and way to get around having to refund us any money or compensate us beyond comping us two glasses of wine.||Would not recommend until management take the ant problem - and their attitude to guests - seriously.

The property is well located and very nice. However, the main downside was the water being cut off while I was in the middle of a shower. My partner had to go to reception to inquire, and I waited for over 1 hour without any update or assistance, which was quite frustrating.Not even a bottle of water to brush my teeth To add to the inconvenience, we were still asked to pay for breakfast, despite the issue we experienced, as we were told it wasn’t their fault. On our 2 week trip in Croatia with 6 different accommodations, this place was a highlight. Clean comfortable spacious apartment with great a/c, parking , sparkling clean pool overlooking the ocean. Location was perfect - walking path along the ocean to the town was beautiful, with lots of opportunities to swim in the sea along the way. Also, the management was kind, helpful, responsive and flexible and went above and beyond for us. We could not get a late checkout but we were allowed to leave our bags in the office, our car in the lot, and spend the morning at the beach and also use the pool and pool shower well after checkout time. We hope to return for a longer stay next time. Highly recommend!

Horrible property and extremely unprofessional and unprepared for tourists!!!|We have make a booking of penthouse in this resort just for one night on our drive to Dubrovnik|For a first look everything seems to be fine… after 15 minutes we have realized that it was a mess!!!!|Coffee machine not working/ no hot water … it was a beginning|After coming back from our dinner everywhere where ants and their nests!!!! We haven’t seen something like that so far … they were everywhere… even in our luggage/ clothes/ towels|Just take a look for a picture|So due to perfect location/ nice service it’s important for me to write about that as it shouldn’t be like that if property names : luxury

Beautiful modern resort overlooking the sea. Our 4 bedroom villa was modern and luxurious with elegant interior and spacious outdoor terrace. Half of the outdoor pool is tucked under a roof, which makes it very nice and practical for hot sunny days. The indoor staircase is very artistic and groovy, but I can’t say that it’s kids friendly. Overall we had an amazing time at this resort.

Golden Rays was everything we dreamed of and more! My husband and I got married in Croatia and we were looking for a place to accommodate 30 of our closest friends and family. Somehow we stumbled upon their website and booked a full week as it was the most affordable option for what we were looking for. The photos online are gorgeous, but nothing prepared us for what an amazing experience we had staying at Golden Rays.||||First off, the location is everything! You can walk to the beach in less than 5 minutes and can walk to town in about 20. During the week we would make frequent walks to town to get groceries, go to dinner, shopping, or go out for drinks. And not to mention the view on these walks is insanely beautiful! When we weren’t out doing activities, we spent the day at the beach swimming, sun tanning and relaxing at it’s finest. The view is so beautiful, the water is warm and welcoming and if you’re thirsty, the bar is just a short walk up the stairs ;)||||The staff accommodated us very well and were extremely attentive throughout our week. They were very kind, respectful and made us feel right at home. The staff also works with local businesses to provide taxis, kayak and paddle board rentals, dining, and much more! We had the opportunity to have a “Welcome Dinner” for our wedding guests and had a local chef make a delicious meal that was served outside by the pool and bar. ||||Our guests also enjoyed a family style continental breakfast every morning before starting the daily activity. This was truly unforgettable as all the food was local, delicious and served with fresh hot coffee. It was more than enough to start off our day.||||We will definitely be returning here for years to come as the service, atmosphere and relaxation is well worth it and unmatched. ||||Thank you again Hana for you and your staff's personalized and genuine service, see you again soon!

Spent a week in Villa #1 and can’t rave enough about our experience. The views from the unit of the sea were unmatched. Hana was absolutely incredible! From the pre-planning to the daily coordination and communication she was nearly flawless. She arrange all of our transfers, private chefs, meals and other activities. We were on a boat for 2 nights and she coordinated all things with the crew of the boat. She was extremely flexible with last minute changes. The only “rub” on the villa was the shower. The water pressure is weak and there is no where to sit your amenities aside from on the ground. The kitchen is set up perfectly for a private chef. Jerry the local driver was also great. Highly recommend this place.

Hit and miss. It's a beautiful 3-story villa with an indoor pool, gym, sauna, outdoor patio with new gas grill, steps from the beach, 20 minute walk to town. It's awesome except... The stairs bounce like a spring; little children or the elderly would need help to get up and down. Lots of bugs. No shelf in the shower so you're picking the soap off the floor. The cleaning crew does all the dishes but I found a lid with egg on it from the previous morning, and the barbecue tools were also put back without being cleaned. Pro tip: the silverware is in a pullout tray above the utensils and cutting boards. Also the beach here is all rocks.
