I came to this place for a two-week holiday with my son, who’s 11 just before Christmas. We arrived late but got a warm welcome at the reception and were shown to our room that was exceptionally large and very clean.|After a long journey we were extremely tired and hungry and went to the restaurant and were told that the menu would be limited at that hour. But both the chicken and shrimp pastas were delicious! Happy to get such good food at a late hour!||Our luggage got lost on the way, but we got tons of help from people around us. We got to borrow a charger for our mobiles from the reception and Brenda helped us trying to get in contact with the airline. What hit me the most was how helpful everyone at the hotel was. Not only during the hunt for our luggage but during our entire stay.||The room was spacious and very clean. We had a nice cooking corner with all the kitchenware we needed. Because the portions from the restaurant were huge we could easily put the leftovers in the spacios fridge and warm up them up for lunch in the microwave the following day. ||The room had a nice balcony with both pool and sea views. It was nice to enjoy breakfast with a good book on the sunny balcony and then move forwards to the beach which is located just steps from the hotel entrance. The hotel provided us with clean beach towels every day, no hassle with towel cards etc.||The beach outside the hotel was fabulous. It was extremely quiet so we got the entire beach to ourselves during the most hectic travel season! Now what are the odds for that!? Water is clear and swimming is good. There are some rocks on the bottom at some points though so if the sea is rough and the waves get high the water gets blurred and you can’t see the rocks I’d suggest you wear swimming shoes, as I did. Problem solved.||The pool at the hotel was well maintained as the rest of the area. There are some sun loungers you can use free of charge, of course. But it was always very quiet there so no trouble getting your seat under the sun. Or in shadow, if you prefer that.||The area is somewhat remote, which we loved. It was quiet (apart from the rooster at 3.30 a.m. so bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper) and perfect for a relaxing time. The only backside of it would be that there are no other restaurants nearby. But looking from the bright side, the restaurant at the hotel has excellent food! We were more than happy with the food we ate there. The fish market in Oistins is about 15 minutes walk from the hotel. Fresh food served at a reasonable price. Try the grilled mahi mahi at De Red Snapper and I promise you’ll come back for more!|The supermarket (Massey) is about 10 minutes walk from the hotel. That’s also where the nearest ATM is located. And if you want to go to Bridgetown or some other beaches nearby the minivans run non-stop outside the hotel. The fee for the minivans is 3,50 BBD each way, make sure to have the exact amount as no change is given.||We used a local taxi driver for our trips to Harrison’s cave and airport and he was actually the person who recovered our missing luggage with his connections. Such a kind person and a perfect driver who’s corteous and friendly. If you need a really good and reliable taxi driver, please do contact Adrian at +1(246)238-0589.||Oh yes, my son loved the free WiFi that worked flawlessly during our entire stay. And I loved the AC that did miracles in our room. And yes nr 2, not a single bug in sight during our stay. Just the usual mosquitos so bring the repellent!||I wish to return to Golden Sands!
