Absolutely magical place. Infamously known for it’s illicit drug trades, this place seem more than that.
So cool to see Laos and Myanmar within eye distance.
And absolutely beautiful large buddhist statues too.

Place with historic significance in global Opium trade. Has a temple, some view points from where you can see Myanmar and Laos. It's cool to see the casinos of Laos from Thailand..
If you have your physical passport you can apparently take a ferry to Don Sao island which is technically Laos (without a visa) after submitting your passport to immigration in Thailand. We didn't have our passport so we didn't choose this. You could also go on a leisure boat trip to catch in the views of the 2 countries...

I personally think this was an anti climax of our trip. The golden triangle is a small no-mans-land in the middle of the Mekong River. We took a tourist boat to see it. You are not allowed on the island but sail up to it and back again...
There is a Buddhist statue near and also a market

It was not that scary. The opiod museum was not big but worth going. I took a few pictures and went to the museum before going back. It was hard to grab a taxi or grab to come back to downtown so make sure you have a taxi round trip. There was not thing much to do here in the morning. I am not sure you can take the boat and go to the other side.

We drove up here from Chiang Rai which took just over an hour on the scooter. We knew it wasn’t going to be breathtaking so the expectations were not high, we did however thoroughly enjoy our trip here (including the journey!)
Nice long highways to get there, very easy to follow on the map. Cool to see the three different countries all in one place. There are many stalls to buy souvenirs and snacks. There are also a few different spots to take photos from.
It’s not an incredible view as you can see from the photos but it’s definitely cool to see and say you’ve been there! A nice road trip too :)

A very interesting place to visit. There is quite alot of history surrounding this area. We took a boat ride on the river. It was quite spectacular.

It was interesting to see where Thailand, Myanmar and Laos come together, but beyond the geographical interest it wasn’t spectacular. The detail and history about “No man’s land” in the middle of the 3 countries was very interesting, though. Well explained by a tour guide.
