Golden Tulip Le Grand Bé Saint-Malo (Saint-Malo, Brittany) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Once upon a time, the port city of Saint-Malo was a privateers’ fortress on France’s Emerald Coast. An air of legend still hangs over the old town, where Golden Tulip Le Grand Bé awaits present-day pleasure cruisers just meters from the beach. Eclectic sculptural installations and a luxe, gold-toned decor define the open public spaces. Rooms are bright and modern with modular, clean-lined furniture, sophisticated pendant lighting, and large beds in plush linens." - Tablet Hotels

It was a perfect choice. We've looked at other hotels outside the walled city but I'm glad we picked Golden Tulip. The hotel was perfectly located, it was clean, and the service was outstanding - I need to mention Theline (hopefully I spelled correctly). She helped us with the parking, and with any questions we had. Just very nice and friendly person which always makes a difference.|The hotel has limited parking spots, not very cheap but we ended up taking it and it was a good decision.

Upscale, comfortable rooms. Buffet breakfast was nice, but they didn't refill hot dishes fast enough when crowded. Our room had a strange layout with the toilet "closet" off on one end of the room. There was a step down to get to it, and was a hazard when getting up at night to go. Location is great, right in the middle of the old town.

The hotel has clearly been designed by someone with more experience of low security prisons than hospitality. Some rooms (with the air conditioning not working) were unbearably hot and we had to be moved. The night reception staff was very helpful but, overall, the hotel needs a management style more adapted to a 4 star establishment than a ymca, no offer was made to look after our luggage, etc, etc.

Modern hotel, great design detail and interesting artworks. The staff, all so welcoming and efficient. Downside's, bar, lounge and terrace food menu state open until 22.00hrs, on request at 20.30hrs told nothing available. A 4* hotel that can't feed it's residents mid evening? Having said that, and now I know that limitation, I would not hesitate in visiting again.

This is a nice hotel in old town Saint Malo. It’s a bit hard to get to it with a car since Google maps got lost. The rooms are nice and the staff is very friendly. We didn’t order breakfast, but there is a great bakery few meters away. It’s very close to restaurants and shops.

Everything about the hotel was wonderful including location, cleanliness and professionalism of staff. Would highly recommend. If we are ever fortunate enough to return to beautiful San Malo, we will stay here again.

We stayed at le Grand Bé for a second time for 3 nights over new year. We’d had a fairly good stay there last summer and love the intra muros location and on site electric car charging, so thought we’d give it another try. What a mistake!||||To start with there was no lunch or dinner option – either restaurant or room service at all over the entire stay (unless you booked the New Year’s Eve events that is). We couldn’t believe it. There were various reasons give by the hotel each day; from the fact that the kitchen doesn’t open on a Monday, to chef availability, to it was new year. Not what we expected from a large 4* hotel, and certainly without pre arrival warning.||||We booked a suite with a terrace – unfortunately the terrace turned out to be a little more than a dark, dirty windowless room above the bins – with no view at all. Very unlike the pictures had led us to believe. The suite was only set up for 2 when we arrived although we had booked for 3 people. We had to ask for the extra bed to be made up, which was done begrudgingly at best (4pm), although an extra towel didn’t arrive until the next day when a further request had to be made. There was no bath plug. Again we asked for one but were told it wasn’t possible to have one until the day after…… The suite wasn’t as clean as it should have been in several places – from dirty glasses to a large ball of dust next to the bed. I pointed everything out to housekeeping and again to reception, who seemed empathetic and promised to resolve it, but despite several attempts they never sorted it all out. After multiple trips to see the reception, we were eventually offered a small discount as a goodwill gesture. A gesture at least but it was too little too late really, particularly as it still didn’t lead to the remaining problems being fixed. ||I had to laugh when we checked out and a fellow guest was also complaining about countless things. Yet believe it or not, the hotel manager assured me that complaints are rare ! I think the Trip advisor reviews show otherwise!

A cosy, nice and comfortable stay in the heart of the city. The place is extremely quiet and peaceful and the staff is very kind
